Dearest Coruscating Craig,

In the previous comment string, I said,

“......In the vast shaky state of the law of development, as laid down by Darwin, are you so enamoured of this so-called law, or hypothesis, as to express jubilation for your great great grandfather having been an ape or a gorilla?.....”

To which Coruscating Craig responded,

“......I know of one great grandpa who was a Dane and another was a Swede. I'm not any too happy about either. Humans and apes are both from the Order Primate and the Family Hominidae. Some would say humans are apes. I maintain a distinction although some of you are more hirsute than some of us......”

I was hoping you might have recognised my ‘vast shaky state’ missive as the purported query to Huxley by Wilberforce in the famous Huxley-Wilberforce debate of 1860 at Oxford University regarding the ‘veracity’ of Darwin’s newly published tome. I would have thought the false dichotomy of ‘ape’ and ‘gorilla’ would have been a clue that yours truly did not write it. I was expecting a witty paraphrase of Huxley’s riposte.
As a Mongoloid, I’ve no hirsuteness about which to speak. My English Tutor, who is ostensibly Dutch, has had several blood transfusions to rid himself of the tragic blight of it all. Perhaps this might work for you?

I also said,

“........If that documented research paper is/was Newton's work 'Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica' (the section on the law of universal gravitation) you'd be in error.....”

To which CC retorted,

“.....It isn't......”

I did not say ‘it’ was in error. I said you’d be in error for preferring ‘it’ to anecdotal evidence which refutes it. The anecdotal evidence to which I refer is the Pound–Rebka experiment we all had to do in fifth grade at my school. Newton's law has since been superseded by Einstein's theory of general relativity but Newton’s law of gravitation continues to be used as an excellent approximation of the effects of gravity.
It is still only an approximation!

Aquarius trying to write on evolution reminds me of a line from "Inherit the Wind" during the Scopes trial"

"Has to be the only person I've seen who can strut sitting down".

Regarding the Chevy Volt and your heretofore 'shocking' pun thereof, I fear I must correct you. Upon further emotionally electrifying research it has come to my attention that a 'shock' is felt based on the current, not the voltage. The real measure of a shock's intensity lies in the amount of current (amperes) forced though the body, and not the voltage (volts).
Perhaps you might want to exercise some resistance (ohms) before you discharge your shocking puns. At least until such time as Audi unveils its 'Amp' electric vehicle.

And strut I do!
And why not? I've the gams for it!

Bojangles Drakelet's here exposing the source of his knowledge as primarily from Hollywood reminds me of a line from 'Gone With The Wind' during the Garden Party,

"Fiddle-dee-dee! Bo, Bo, Bo; this Bo's talk's spoiling all the fun at every party this spring. I get so bored I could scream."

I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty of replacing the word 'war' with 'Bo' in my above quotation.

I suspect that y'all think me to be an arrogant gin-soaked popinjay.
Now don't be shy. You do, don't you?
Well, yins is right!
I am indeed arrogant. And for good reason. Whereas our beloved Bojangles is a truly modest man - also, it would seem, for good reason.

Let's see, we have ALTC commenting about some comment string on another post, totally irrelevant to the topic of THIS post. And Ducky joins in.

So it appears that people who don't understand a current post have nothing better to do than to talk about an unscientific, impossible theory mentioned on another post. Joe, where do you find these people!?!?!?!

Now about the Volt - what a worthless piece of junk paid for by tax dollars. Hitler's VW was a much better idea that lasted for decades!

Joe finds us at the Wal-Mart.

You can dispute Darwin's theory all you like - the Scientific Establishment itself rejected it once Mendels discoveries were 're-discovered'.
It's evolution you can't refute. It's in the bible! It's just called 'husbandry' there.

And Glenn?

Me Mam told me to never trust a man who, in his name, uses two identical letters when one would do.

On the "It's A Sin To Tell A Lie" post On March 6, 2012 8:42 PM, The Greek Shipping Magnate intoned - with rodomontade,

".....Every woman I've ever known (and that's A LOT) would rather be married to a sinner (on sooo many levels)......"

As his faithful servant. Leporello sings:

"In Italy, six hundred and forty;
In Germany, two hundred and thirty-one;
A hundred in France; in Turkey, ninety-one;
But in Spain already one thousand and three.

Among these are peasant girls,
Maidservants, city girls,
Countesses, baronesses,
Marchionesses, princesses,
Women of every rank,
Every shape, every age."

Okay
I'll admit it.
Quoting a Mozart opera is one quotation too far 'round these parts - especially and English translation.
In my defense, I got to use the word 'rodomontade' and that opportunity does not present itself every day you know?

If indeed you do undergo the knife for your hip, be sure to insist the surgeons use quality radiopaque surgical sponges AND have skilled radiological personnel and the best portable X-ray equipment available to search for the inevitable 'lost' sponges when they are done with you.
It is important to minimise the amount of time you are under anesthesia and minimise your exposure to ionizing radiation as the Docs 'look' for it/them.

Also, when the Gas-Passer instructs you to start counting down from 100, instead, audibly chant the Greek alphabet:
Alpha....Beta....Gamma....Delta....
(You'll be out halfway through Delta so you don't need to learn more)
Doing this will impress the room and they will be more likely to do a good job on you - and leave fewer sponges.

Proof once again that the Obama administration's endorsement of a green product is the kiss of death. This is not a rhetorical question. Can anyone think of ANY alternate energy company in which Obama has sunk millions of dollars that has succeeded? Here's another one. Does anything think it immoral to drive up the price of gas so that people would be forced to buy an electric car? If an electric car company did that, someone would go to prison. Obama does it and nobody (on the left) gives it a second thought.

The idea of an electric car is just stupid in the first place. The car has to get its electricity from somewhere. And about half the time in this country, it's from a coal-powered plant. You'd think that Obama would learn from China.

But that would be a violation of Immutable Truth About Liberals #14. Liberals lack a sixth sense that conservatives have in abundance -- common sense.

And, it is as impossible for liberals to violate one of my Immutable Truths as it is for an electric car to violate the laws of physics.

And, while I'm on the subject of laws, why hasn't Obama prosecuted any wind energy companies for violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and Eagle Protection Act?

A 2008 study funded by the Alameda County Community Development Agency estimated that about 2,400 raptors, including burrowing owls, American kestrels, and red-tailed hawks—as well as about 7,500 other birds, nearly all of which are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act—are being killed every year by the turbines at Altamont Pass, about 20 miles east of Oakland, CA. Bats are being slaughtered too. The Pennsylvania Game Commission estimates that wind turbines killed more than 10,000 bats in the state in 2010. PeTA would call that another Holocaust. Not a peep from them, though.

The Obama administration routinely prosecutes oil, gas and electricity producers for violating wildlife laws, but has NEVER gone after a wind turbine company.

That's downright immoral, not to mention an abuse of power.

I already know the Greek alphabet.

If I talk real fast, I can get it all out before I doze off.
