MY HERO!

I have a few heroes.

George Washington is one.

So is Abraham Lincoln.

And there's Ronald Reagan, Arthur Fielder, Dr. Adrian Rogers, Leonard Bernstein, Wynton Marsalis and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you missed Wynton Marsalis' tribute to Dr. King on "CBS This Morning," you missed a great one.

I have tried unsuccessfully to find it on YouTube or on CBS's website.

But if you can find it, I highly recommend it for a great perspective. (And send me the link in my comments, please.)

As some of you know, I marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in St. Augustine, Florida in 1964.

It was an honor and a bit scary...a white guy being menaced by KKKers and the like, while surrounded by people I was trying to help.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the epitome of the movement from rank prejudice through tolerance and to acceptance of people of a different color and background.

In spite of what the Revvveraand Jaaxonn and other black imitation leaders tell you, racism is not as rampant or as evident as it used to be in our country, largely because of the commitment to peaceful civil disobedience led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Is there a ways to go?

Yes.

But progress is better than regression in race relations.

One of the things I love about the United States of America is that we can accomplish what we collectively and individually want to accomplish if we put our minds and our actions to it.

Dr. King did just that.

He is my hero.

I'm not at all denying that Dr. King was a Hero in his day, however, I am hoping that one day, it would be wonderful if Reverends Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Rev Wright as well as the others in the of Black Liberation movement would honor White people who were also "Heros" as well as ONLY Blacks. But that is also a "Dream"

Before you accuse Obama and the Democrats of being Marxist/Communist/Socialists, can you tell me if you also consider Nixon a Marxist/communist/socialist? He imposed wage and price controls on the entire economy. How about Harry Truman – was he a Marxist/communist/scoailist? He nationalized the steel industry – stripped private ownership away and said that the government owned them. Are they communists? How many other American Presidents do you consider to be communists? And if so, what exactly do you mean when you call someone a Marxist/communist/socialist? I suspect that you are so brain-washed by childish Republican propaganda that you will be incapable of responding to these questions.

Obama does not have radical leftist beliefs, nor is he dedicated to the destruction of our Constitutionalist Republic. He is nota fraud and anyone who saids he is is a racist. I understand that as a conservative you are ashamed of the Bush Administration and the actual illegality and anti-Constitutionality practiced by the Republican Party 2000-2008. But it is a pathetic tactic to accuse Obama of imaginary and overblown crimes in order to dodge responsibility for the harm to our Republic actually caused by you and your votes. It is all about your cowardice, and your inability to take responsibility for your own actions through your votes for the worst President in a century, and the damage that has caused to our great country.

All the racist white people who hate the idea of black people in their “Whitehouse” are leeching right here. Racists one and all! You haters will seize on anything minor to rip on a Black Man, he was obviously tired from trying to whack his balls out of the giant sand trap the official told him he? was in, then he got a little pissy when he was told he was actually in Iraq, what’s the big deal?

He hates soldiers so thats why he ended the illegal war in Iraq and welcomed them home. He hates soldiers so he increased VA services to include TBI and Stress Disorders. He pushed for a jobs program and the First and Second Ladies have worked to help wounded Vets. Oh by the way he’s eventually bringing the troops home from Afghan. But hell hes a Commie a Socialist wasn’t even born in the USA Right?

Obama’s website states he is a committed Christian. He was sworn into the Senate on his family Bible. He has regularly…..forget it. You racists don’t rely on facts no matter how many timeswho falsey claimit. You rely on Racist rants, Character Assassination and Conspiracy theories to take this President down and that shows how sick in the head you people are!

These racists try to ugre and others to vote the Republicans get back into power so they can finish destroying the country Obama is trying to fix.

Anyone who says Obama is destroying this country is, without a doubt, a racist hypocrite!

Stop calling yourselves “Patriots” You are desicrating that word. You are not Patriots, you were never Patriots, and youwill never be Patriots. What you scumbags really are, and will always be are Racists, bigots, Un-American White supremist following haters. That’s what you REALLY are!
I’m 100% convinced! The right wing of America are racist! And anyone who hates Obama is racist!

Have to say your musical heroes are an interesting grouping.

Arthur Fiedler? Are you kidding me, Joe.
He did more to promote boring lackadaisical music than any man on the planet.
Seriously, I mean this, the Lawrence Welk orchestra could swing harder than the Pops.

Wynton Marsalis? Good technical player but he ain't no Lee Morgan.

Ducky's here said...

Adrian Rogers? A fascist who would probably have willingly endorsed the FBI harassment of Dr. King?

Saint Ronnie Raygun probably would have also when he took time out from butchering Central Americans and encouraging radical Islamists by letting used get stooged by Likud in Lebanon.

Like I say Joe, Dr. King seems so out of place in that grouping.

Would you credit the leaders of gay liberation with achieving progress in human rights also, Joe?

Women's liberation?

Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Kim Jong-il, Fidel Castro, Karl Marx, Leon Trotsky, Georgi Plekhanov,or was it Mikhail Gorbachev,or maybe the great Stalin himself? Hum, tell us Ducky, who do you worship?
Maybe it's the modern Hero's like Nidal Malik Hasan, or the socialist intellectuals like Bill Ayers, or Huey Newton and Bobby Seale? Tell us Ducky, who should we name the next Holiday after?

"Would you credit the leaders of gay liberation with achieving progress in human rights also, Joe?

Jo Joe - I love how you can be relied on to trot ot the "I marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in St. Augustine, Florida in 1964" trope as though that somehow innoculates you against any liberal criticism.

But I just have to wonder, since you don't seem to believe in any of MLK's values or agree with the tactics he used to achieve his goals, why did you march with him? What was YOUR motivation?

I notice that you never cite any other Civil Rights involvement other than that one, isolated incident.

It's like if I repeatedly trotted out some imaginary and unverifiable occasion where I campaigned for Barry Goldwater as my bona fides as a conservative.

Perhaps you could elaborate on your dedication to the principles that MLK fought and died for and what you have done in the years since 1964 to further his causes.

Please, elucidate. Inquiring minds want to know.

Were you arrested, beaten by the police, fire-hosed, did you have police dogs attack you?

Were you denied service at a restaurant because you were sitting with blacks?

Did white southerners chase you down gravel roads and threaten you and your family for your "pro-negro" proclivities?

Or did you just inadvertantly and innocently get caught up in a croud of people while you were on your way to get somewhere and only find out later that you had unwittingly "marched with Martin Luther King"?

Joe said...

XO: "But I just have to wonder, since you don't seem to believe in any of MLK's values or agree with the tactics he used to achieve his goals,..."

That's a lie born of your ignorance.

I am, in fact, reluctant to mention my involvement with the King movement because his cause was much more important than my involvement. I only bring it up when a discussion warrants it or on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

I am proud of my involvement with the movement.

"I notice that you never cite any other Civil Rights involvement other than that one, isolated incident."

So do you want me to brag more, or less? Make up your mind.

Oh, I forgot. You're a liberal. You don't have to make up your mind...you don't use yours.

"Were you denied service at a restaurant because you were sitting with blacks?"

Yes.

And I was assaulted by three very large white guys outside of the same restaurant.

"Or did you just inadvertantly and innocently get caught up in a croud of people while you were on your way to get somewhere and only find out later that you had unwittingly "marched with Martin Luther King"?"

No. I knowingly and deliberately joined in the march.

I didn't have a family in the area. I was a student at Stetson University.

I have, in fact, been very active in civil rights...just not in a provocative way that invites news coverage.

But I'm certain that if I enumerated them you would find fault, because that's the ONLY thing you have any inkling as to what to do.

"Please, elucidate. Inquiring minds want to know."

No, you don't.

You're a total fool. Total.

You speak without knowledge, make things up, draw erroneous conclusions and rattle on just to be contrary.

And you're the only one here with a blog that magnifies your skin color.

What does that make you?

Liberals don't have the moral authority to speak about MLK. They have rejected, poisoned and sullied everything he stood for.

Liberals have crapped on MLK's dream. King dreamed that one day his children would be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Liberals put the color of one's skin at the very forefront in discriminatory racial preferences. They even elected an unqualified president solely because of the color of his skin.

And the content of a person's character? Liberals sneer at any judgments of their character. "Who are you to judge me?" Race hustlers like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson become wealthy by fomenting racial hatred. Character counts for so little that the left twice elected a president who dodged the draft, lied, assaulted women and committed adultery in the oval office. According to them, you don't have to have morals if you can "compartmentalize" your behavior.

King was an evangelical Christian. Is there any group of people liberals hate more than evangelicals?

King may have been a hero in his time, but liberals have destroyed his legacy. Liberals have totally trashed King's dream of a moral, peaceful, loving, color-blind society.

Sterculian Rhetoric said...

I fail to see how my comment was 'walking the thin line of vulgarity and indecency.'
I was merely stating facts: He had a mistress or two but none of them were Asian.

You're right about that I.C. character though.

Regarding your response to the Hip Near-Bucolic White Guy, you say,

"...And you're the only one here with a blog that magnifies your skin color....."

The 'White' in his appellation has nowt to do with the level of melanin, or lack thereof, in his dermis, but instead refers to his morally unblemished chastity.

By the way, the 'Wild Type' expression for the Gene Battery which encodes for melanin produces, well, my Asian colour. To achieve a white or black skin colour several mutations must occur.
It seems both you and the hip guy suffer from this mutation. Perhaps the two of you can concentrate on the things that unite you rather than bicker over the inconsequential quibbles that appear to separate you?

Dr King would be embarrassed over the s- stirrers that are the likes of people like Al Sharpton.
What amazes me is that the democrats are the ones who always bring up race. They have a long history of it and then use excuses for people like Robert Byrd saying he was only in the KKK for political purposes.
The Democrats purposely put Obama in and propped him up with his staged performances and knocked Hillary of the ballot like Obama did in Chicago.
He is spending so much money and forced Obamacrae on us all knowing it would be rejected just so they can call those objected to it racists. This was calculated and funded by those with an agenda, namely one person in particular .
We don't need to know his baggage and they made sure all his suitcases had padlocks.
Yep the democrats are the radical wing nuts. Just listen to half of them. Pelosi,Reid,Wasserman,Dean,Grayson.
They call the Tea Party Astorufing and then praise Obama's OWS protest.
Anyone with half a brain can see how this was orchestrated from the White House. Organizing the country from the White House just like the good old day of organizing the streets of Chicago.

Look, Joe, I agree wholeheartedly that Martin Luther King had an important message and did some wonderful things and i can see that you idolized him and you listed him as one of your Heros. And no one likes to hear of that their heroes made any mistakes or any other negatives about them. However, if I am correct, these blogs are about telling the truth, and i Dr. Kig was a Womanizer and it has been proven, then it is what it is. Would you deny anyone form telling the truth about someone because you liked him? Should his legacy should not be scrutinized, because he did very good things as well? Should we also sweep the fact that JFK slept allover the place because he stood up to the Russians and the Castro? I’m not trying to demythologize your hero or the hero of so many others, I’m simply telling it as I know it. And it is written in many books, altricials and all over the internet. Denying it won’t change it.
And maybe one day they will make a National Holiday for William Jefferson Clinton who has even surpassed Martin Luther King in womanizing. (To put it in dressed up terms)
There’s no way around it, Martin Luther King was not only a womanizer, but a notorious womanizer. Do you think that deleting ones comment about the truth is the answer? Then so be it, delete away, if you do so then you are telling me as well as others the you don’t want to hear ANY opposing views if they don’t conform to yours. And if thats the case then I know my place and it won’t be here.
It’s your call.

And by the way Bill Clinton also believed in nonviolence, he ran to Canada instead of going into the Army like everyone else did.
I guess to get a Holiday named after you these days all you have to do is to cheat on your wife plagiarized speeches,. And a little bit of consorting with Communists don’t hurt either, not by today’s standards, just ask Barack Obama..

Joe said...

IC: "i Dr. Kig was a Womanizer and it has been proven, then it is what it is."

(I presume you meant, "if.")

It has been alledged, but has not been substantiated.

I did not know him personally, but highly doubt the allegations.

Nevertheless, having never known a "perfect" person, his cause and his method of effecting it keeps him firmly on my hero list.

This blog is not about some nebulous concept of "truth," it is about my opinions (quirky though they may be). My opinions are the right ones to have, else I would not hold them.

(Arrogant, you say? OK. Make me a list of the opinions that you hold that you know are wrong, but you hold them anyway.)

The Debonair Dudes World said...

Lisa, in MY humble opinion you seem to put Martin Luther King on a pedestal where he don't belong. Martin Luther King was a re cry from Mother Theresa so where's her Holiday.
Where's the Holiday for Abe Lincoln? And why not make a Holiday for the Hero's of 9-11?
Tp think that MLK was the kind of man that you portrayed him to b, I think that we are less than being honest with ourselves. Because he did have many, many faults as I listed in my previous post. The allegations were substantiated by a vast amount of valid sources. Try the use of google and you'll see for yourself.
But to me to have a National Holiday for that pro-communist philanderer, is a sham as creating Kwanzaa..

Martin Luther King was a Communist!

Some people claim that Martin Luther King Jr. was not a Communist, even though he did everything possible to promote the Communist's agenda. That's like saying that Hitler was not a murderer because he didn't actually do the killing. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Communist! Martin Luther King was affiliated with 60 Communist Fronts. He openly incited violence under the banner of "nonviolence."

Congress voted to make King's birthday a national holiday. This is should be an outrage to all Christians. The King Holiday act ought to be repealed!

The life story of Martin Luther King is shocking and disgraceful from beginning to end. He was born with the name Michael King on Jan. 15, 1929. In 1935 his preacher father, "Daddy" King, decided to name himself after the great Protestant reformer Martin Luther. He announced to his congregation that henceforth he was to be called Martin Luther King and his son Martin Luther King, Jr. "Daddy" King never bothered to have this act legalized in court. Thus, his son's real name is Michael King! The holiday should actually be called "Michael" King Day!

It was not some "right-winger" who had King's office and hotel rooms bugged. This order was signed by then U.S. Attorney General Bobby Kennedy on Oct. 10, 1963. Evidence proved that King was under the direct orders of Soviet spies and financed by the Communist Party. The Kennedy taping continued for 5 years and also developed shocking revelations regarding King's sexual practices.
African American, Bayard Rustin is a former organizer for the Young Communist League. He spent 60 days in a California jail on a 1953 conviction for performing lewd homosexual acts in public. He also served 28 months in prison for draft evasion. Today Rustin is paid by Jewish organizations for use of his name as a "signer" of ads urging "Black-Jewish Unity." He was King's secretary and advisor from 1956 to 1960. During this period Rustin attended the National Convention of the Communist Party in 1957 as an "honored observer." King called him a "a brilliant, efficient, and dedicated organizer." It was Rustin who introduced King to a Soviet spy named Stanley D. Levison.
He was a New York Lawyer and vice-president of the N.Y. Council of the American Jewish Congress. Levison's job was to launder the $1million subsidy Soviet Russia gave to finance the U.S. Communist Party. Levison proved important financial, organizational and public relations services for King. After King's death his wife, Coretta Scott King described Levison's role as, "always working in the background, his contribution has been indispensable." Levison wrote an obituary for King and described America as a "nation tenaciously racist... sick with violence...and corrosive with alienation. The civil rights liberation struggle is the most positive and rewarding area of work anyone could experience."

The first public sermon that King ever gave, in 1947 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, was plagiarized from a homily by Protestant clergyman Harry Emerson Fosdick entitled "Life is What You Make It," according to the testimony of King's best friend of that time, Reverend Larry H. Williams.

The first book that the great Martin Luthur King "wrote", "Stride Toward Freedom, - -was plagiarized from numerous sources, all unattributed, according to documentation recently assembled by sympathetic King scholars Keith D. Miller, Ira G. Zepp, Jr., and David J. Garrow.

I suspect ALL opposing views would necessarily conform to Joe's definition of an opposing view. Now if someone's views conformed to Joe's views then they wouldn't, de facto, be considered opposing views now would they?

Or how about:

It is not possible for an opposing view to conform to a view held by Joe. If it did conform to a view held by Joe it wouldn't be an opposing view, now would it?

Regarding my comment of the Marines urinating on the dead bodies of Taliban fighters and Allen West's intense words for anyone criticizing the military.

GIVE ME A FRIGGING BREAK.. So your argument is that they were just Mercenaries? JUST Mercenaries, Another word for Contractors, so they were there for money. So what, big deal, is that a reason for them to get SHOT, BURNT TO DEATH AND HAVE THE DEAD BODIES HUNG FROM BRIDGES? is that your reasoning?
Each of those men were human beings with families, and loved ones, I'd bet that their families wished that they were urinated on instead of killed and had their burnt bodies hung from bridges!

But ah, they were only "Mercenaries" so who cares? You idiot! I guess that's what you get when you want to be a Mercenary and work for a profit.
Wouldn't you leave your job for a higher paying job? Come to think about it, I doubt it. I doubt if you would have have the balls to. I don't know if you are aware that most of these people who are "JUST Mercenaries" had previously served in the military prior to becoming PSC's, and had gone back to get PAID work.

And who was Daniel Pearl? Was he also a "South African", as you so stupidly said? No!!! He was an American journalist who was Beheaded only because he was an AMERICAN JEW. And he was videotaped being beheading, so that his family could see it.
Are these the people you are defending?
I'd urinate on them myself! And I'd urinate on Bill Maher. for having such a big stupid anti-American mouth. I can't help but ask have you served? Have you even been to Iraq or Afghanistan. Well I had , I'm a veteran of the war in Iraq.and I'd bet anything that you hadn't and that you would never have the patriotism or the guts and balls to. as a Contractor or as a Combatant!
