Can you understand his point and his principles laid out in this talk?

What a crock of unscientific crap.

This is one of the drawbacks of widespread broadband access.

Any uninformed idiot can cloak themselves in the Photoshopped props of a News Studio and crank out video after video to viewers giving the impression that they have a following of people who agree with them.

So we wind up with a complteley unknown Jewish-Canadian lawyer passing judgement on the importance of a frakked gas pipeline penetrating thousands of miles of America's largest fresh water aquifer.

We should just shrug our shoulders amd and say "Well, if rich people think it's OK and it will make them richer, then who are we to drag the EPA into it and slow things down? We ain't got us no right to hinder our betters!"

Joe - The video was well done - and in it Ezra Levant - the Candadian Laywer - makes some good Points about the Denied Pipeline.

But ya know what - Joe?

It was the Flatt & Scruggs music that spoke to me.

You see I am in line - but I'm having Bob Dylan hold my Place for me.

Cause I'm not Quite Ready yet.

I've got a couple of things I want to do first - Real soon.

Thanks Joe - and have a Good Day.

This what happens when you elect a Marxist as the president of the USA. He would rather give America dollars to China then to Canada.
I hope the out of work idiots that voted for Obama remember this in November. We need a new President who will have American interest in his mind, not one who will be discouraging our allies. the Now we are seeing the real Obama, who's agenda it is to destroy this country and who is stuck on stupid
Thanks a lot all you liberal idiots.

XO: Talk about a crock!

Some unknown, uninformed blogger who can't tell his nose from his navel disparages a fairly well known author, writer and lawyer.

And then there's the antisemetic reference to "Jewish-Canadian."

He just shrugs his shoulders and thnks, "Well, if President BO (the child president) is against it, then I will be, too."

'Cause we all know what an astute scientist BO is.

"Photoshopped?" Are you referring to the diagrams of the existing pipelines already crossing the aquifer?

Can you please support your argument by showing evidence that these pipelines don't exist and therefore Mr. Levant is wrong or lying?

You know, XO, you completely overestimate your intelligence and your ability to make a rational case.

Joe said...

Me?Opinionated?: Agreed. So, how do I comment on your blog? You have some good stuff.

We are NOT dependent on foreign oil. We are dependent on oil which all goes on the market to satisfy world demand.

Now this guy in the video who immediately brings up Saudi Arabia and terrorists and the whole bit sounds like some kind of Likud pimp.

This oil would go for export if the pipeline were built and the price of gas wouldn't be significantly lowered. So we take the risks so Mr. Levant can take the profit.

That's the kind of mug's game you suckers play, Joe. ExxonMobil loves you.

Ducky's here said...

His contention that Venezuelan oil has a higher carbon footprint than Alberta shale is the pure stinky cheese.

This is the type of crap you take for informed opinion, Joe?

What century is it?

Thanks Jo-Joe, as for commenting on my blog, I'll have to check it out, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for letting me know it.

Try again after I see whats wrong.

Ducky Boy, your facts are ONLY partially true., and as usual intentionally meant to mislead us. America spends more than $25 billion a year for oil imports from the Arab OPEC countries alone. $390 million for foreign oil, WITH HALF OF EVERY DOLLAR going to OPEC and a quarter to the Persian Gulf.
Billions of our American dollars go to imported oil every month (nearly $1 billion a day)
goes to Arab countries
We depend more and more on hostile countries
It’s no question that America's dependence on oil is a threat to our national security and our economy.

Opinionated Me said...

Let’s be honest with ourselves here we have a real problem with oil, no one can deny that. And if we have the chance to get some of that Canadian oil why not?
If there any chance to cut our dependency on foreign oil, why not?
I know that I get frustrated when year after year nothing seems to happen when we all know that things need to change, so why not say yes to the pipeline? And say hell no to the environmental wackos?
Do I care what Paul McCartney and his environmental wacko friends think? No, he is not my president. He has a few hundred million dollars that he can spare to pay for oil, but I don't.

If Obama gets re-elected, we’ll all be remembering the good old days when gas was only $4.00 a gallon.
We're being governed by idiots, and that's beyond outrageous.

Hey Mark, all oil on the world market is paid for in dollars.

Now no matter who buys Saudi oil, the Saudis get dollars, right?

Remember, the left is here to help you get past the sound bites.

Same for Canadian tar sands.

Once again, the issue is our dependence on oil. The nationality is irrelevant since we can never satisfy our needs from internal supply.

Craig said...

Can you understand his point and his principles laid out in this talk?

Yes, I understand his point. His principles, obfuscation, prevarication, half truths and omitting facts, are clear.

Starting with his claim that tar sand oil (it's actually bitumen) has a smaller carbon footprint than heavy oil. B.S. The refining process is roughly the same but the extraction process, which he never mentions, for tar sands emits 30%-80% more carbon than cold extraction for heavy oil used in Venezuela. The situ method of extracting bitumen from tar sand requires steam, heated by burning natural gas. For each barrel bitumen it requires digging up 4 metric tons of sand, 2-4 barrels of fresh water and leaves behind toxic tailings that are dumped in slurry lakes that are polluting rivers a killing wild life.

Levant also leaves out negative externalities of building the pipeline. The Canadian Enviromental Ministries estimates the pipeline will destroy 740,000 acres of boreal forest, a natural carbon sink.

He drags out the tired trope that Obama cozies up to dictators and lied about ending imports from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia in 10 years. It's 3 years in and what are the facts? Imports from Venezuela were at the lowest level in 21 years in 2010. In 2011, imports declined another 9%. Imports from Saudi Arabia have gone from 1.533M barrels a day in 2008 to, currently, 745,000 barrels, a 50% decrease. The trajectory is on track and it's 7 years too early to call him a liar.

Levant goes all Glenn Beck, bringing up the Tides Foundation and other enviromental groups funding opposition to a Canadian pipeline. They are helping to fund and organize opposition that already exists from Canadian land owners and indigenous Canucks. The money spent, less tan $1M, pales in comparison to what's being spent to lobby for XL in the U.S. $60M from 31 different groups including foreign oil co.s and foreign govt.s (Canada and Provincial govt.)

On to Jobs. More lies. Joe, I spent 12 minutes watching your video, take 1 1/2 minutes to watch mine. TransCanada claims 20,000 short term jobs and a few hundred long term jobs. The State Dept. report says 5,000-6,000 short term (2 years) jobs. I'll point out that that report is now under review by the State Dept. inspector general for conflict of interest. Much of it was prepared by Cardno Entrix, a contracting firm and major client of TransCanada.

Let's put all that aside. TransCanada already has pipelines into the U.S. That oil is being refined in the Midwest and being sold in the U.S. Canada is currently piping in 1.5M barrels a day. The capacity is nearly 3M barrels which Canada isn't expected to produce until 2020. So, the current pipelines are only at half capacity. XL's capacity is 700,000 barrels a day, wouldn't make a dent in our consumption of 18M barrels a day. Why do you think they want to build pipelines to the gulf? Because that's where the tankers are. That refined bitumen is for export to S. America and Europe. It won't stay here, it won't bring down prices. If anything, it will drive up costs.

I hope these facts will help you make an informed decision. Somehow, I doubt it.

I do not like Alberta's Bituminous Sands - also called 'Alberta Oil Sands' by its proponents and 'Alberta Tar Sands' by its detractors - not for any ecological/economic reasons but simply because it killed Tasha Yar and made Deanna Troi cry.

My English tutor - a born and inbred Canadian - informs me that Mr. Levant writes for the Sun Media folks. You know, the kind of papers that have a full-page photograph of a topless woman on page three of every edition?

We need not say anymore, need we?

Also, he wrote an introduction to Michelle Malkin's book, "Pulling Up The Ladder. Why my parents were the last good immigrants"

Again, we need not say anymore.

That Greek Shipping Magnate is indeed a monoclonal anti-semite - unlike yours truly.
I like to think of myself as a broad-spectrum anti-semite. Those Gram Positive Semites, Arabs and Hebrews, are pesky folks and those Gram Negative Semites, Babylonians and Assyrians are slightly worse.
And don't get me started on those Phoenicians, Chaldees and Akkadians!
All the sons of Shem are despicable.
I've an Ethiopic friend though, who shares his Khat, so he's not too bad.
