ALL OF THESE ARE GEORGE BUSH'S FAULT-RIGHT?

The following is NOT original with me. It was sent to me in an email by a frequent commenter on this blog, Mighty Ginsu.

Nevertheless, I thought the questions worth asking.

If George W. Bush had doubled the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had criticized a state law that he admitted he never even read, would you think that he is just an ignorant hot head?

If George W. Bush joined the country of Mexico and sued a state in the United States to force that state to continue to allow illegal immigration, would you question his patriotism and wonder who's side he was on?

If George W. Bush had put 87,000 workers out of work by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on offshore oil drilling on companies that have one of the best safety records of any industry because one company had an accident would you have agreed?

If George W. Bush had used a forged document as the basis of the moratorium that would render 87,000 American workers unemployed would you support him?

If George W. Bush had been the first President to need a TelePrompTer installed to be able to get through a press conference, would you have laughed and said this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If George W. Bush had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to take Laura Bush to a play in NYC, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had reduced your retirement plan's holdings of GM stock by 90% and given the unions a majority stake in GM, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky?

If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia , would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the nonexistent "Austrian language," would you have brushed it off as a minor slip?

If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with people who cannot seem to keep current in their income taxes, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless.

If George W. Bush would have flown all the way to Denmark to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics would benefit him walking out his front door in Texas , would you have thought he was a self important, conceited, egotistical jerk.

If George W. Bush had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to "Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador when it was the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo), and continued to flub it when he tried again, would you have winced in embarrassment?

If George W. Bush had misspelled the word "advice" would you have hammered him for it for years like Dan Quayle and potatoes as proof of what a dunce he is?

If George W. Bush had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to go plant a single tree on Earth Day, would you have concluded he's a hypocrite?

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans , would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had created the position of 32 Czars who report directly to him, bypassing the House and Senate on much of what is happening in America , would you have approved.

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything?

Don't worry.

He's done all of these things in 21 months -- so you'll have plenty of time to come up with an answer.

Joe - Now wait a minute. Didn't George Bush kiss that Saudi prince?

All those rightwing emails seem not to impress the American people:

"According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, over two-thirds of Americans still blame Bush for the economy’s woes:

The 71% saying Bush should get blamed was a modest decline from the 80% who felt that way about a year ago, in July 2009.

In the July 2009 poll, a third, 32%, said [Obama] should shoulder a great deal or moderate amount of the blame. That percentage has risen — no surprise, given that he’s been in office for 20 months. Now almost half, 48%, do. But 51% say he’s dealing with problems he inherited, not created, saying he deserves not much or none of the responsibility for economic problems that include high unemployment and a faltering housing market.

There was, predictably, a yawning partisan divide on the question. Republicans by 4-1, 44%-10%, were more likely to give Obama a great deal of the blame than Bush. Democrats by more than 20-1 targeted Bush: They said the former president bore a great deal of the blame; just 3% said that of the current one.

Indeed, as much as Bush advisers try to resurrect the legacy of their former boss, other polls have shown Americans really don’t miss Bush, while a recent
survey of 238 presidential scholars rated Bush as the worst president of the modern era and among the bottom five of all time."

sue: Yes, he did. That's one faux pas. Compare that with the faux pases (ie? i?---what is the plural of faux pas, anyway?) of President BO.

SK: Of course, placing the blame for the coutry's ills on Bush side-steps the whole point of my post.

Side-stepping is a common ploy of liberals when they don't want to deal with an individual's responsibility for his/her OWN actions or lack thereof.

You didn't answer a single question asked...not one.

The point is not what GB DID, it is what your response would have been if he had done the things BO has done.

But since those things were done by THE ONE, they are considered good things by the left...right?

So, has the ND doubled under BO, or not?

Will it double again (according to the CBO) in 10 years, or not?

Did BO admit that he had not read the Arizona imigration law, or not?

Has BO place a moratorium on offshore oil drilling, or not?

Has BO used a forged document to justify a moratorium, or not?

Did BO make a joke at the expense of the special olympics, or not?

Did BO give the Queen of England an iPod with his speeches, or not?

Do you know what it means to answer questions directly, or not?

Why do you give a total pass to BO, while castigating GB for much lesser issues?

Has BO sued a state, or not?

GASP! He did THAT? What horror!

Not at all as classy as this guy.

"If George W. Bush had stated that there were 57 states in the United States , would you have said that he is clueless."

OH WHAT AN ABOMINATION!

Surely this guy is more respectful of America and her symbol!

The rest of your email's copy and paste is not worth answering because it's petty and drops to the level of 5th grade !Nyah! !Nyah! !Nyah!

SK: "According to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll, over two-thirds of Americans still blame Bush for the economy’s woes:..."

And that relates to the point of the post how?

"'Did BO give the Queen of England an iPod with his speeches, or not?'

GASP! He did THAT? What horror!"

See. You STILL did not answer the question. Liberals can't (or are beneath) answer the actual question.

The question asks not what your opinion of the faux pas is, it asks whether or not BO did that.

Correct Answer: Yes, he did. And it was an international scandal at the time, because you don't give gifts that are all about self to heads of state. It is poor international form.

But he would have no way of knowing that, because he has had NO international experience and has surrounded himself with people to advise him who haven't either.

Have other presidents exhibited poor form? Yes. But this was not about other presidents, it was about BO. Comparisons are not in order. (Unless you are a 4th grader on the playground).

DID BO state clearly that he had visited 57 states? Yes, he did. Slip of the tongue...maybe so. But the rest of his history suggests that he simply was not measuring his words and spoke without listening to what he was saying.

Not a good quality for a leader...don't you think?

The big flaw in the 57 states remark is that there are 57 Arab States.
Something that makes some of us go "hmmmmmmmm".

Geo. W. Bush put us in Iraq with a war of his choosing, against internal, national US as well as international laws, resulting in the deaths of 4415 American soldiers, to date, along with the wounding of some 37,000+ soldiers, etc., etc.

This also resulted, in part, in our going from budget surpluses, from the beginning of his terms, to deep budget deficits and a collapsed economy, after.

That was enough.

Joe - You get points for coming right out and admitting the kiss.

Faux pas is the same in singular or plural according to google.

Joe said...

PFLOW: George Bush did NOT put us in the war in Iraq in a solitary vacuum. Congress, including Democrats, went right along with him, because the evidence seemed to demand it.

The evidence was suspect, at best, but nobody, including you, knew that at the time.

Do I think the war in Iraq was a good thing? (Watch out...I'm about to give a DIRECT answer to that question, something I'm not sure you can handle.) No.

Do I think it was necessary?

Given the information available to us and the international community at the time, Yes.

You are quite correct that budget deficits resulted. However, those deficits are NOT what brought down the economy.

The bursting of the "housing bubble" brought down the economy. that was an unintended consequence of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. Even its most ardent supporter, Barney Frank, now says he never supported such a vile piece of legislation.

Barney Frank has other issues with facts and truths, too.

I do NOT absolve Republicans from responsibility in the overall malaise of the economy, but I believe Democrats bear the brunt of responsibility.

"Side-stepping is a common ploy of Republicans..."

No disagreement from me in principle, however, by my actual calculations, liberal Democrats, followed by liberal Republicans account for 75 times as many side-steps as Republicans in general.

Joe no matter what Obama does it is ALWAYS George W. Bush's fault.

ablur said...

Yeah, I know who to blame. What I don't know is if someone is actually going to do what it takes to fix it. All I am seeing is further screwing around making matters worse.

If you make it worse, it is your fault. Don't blame the other guy. Grow up and admit you make mistakes too. Seek out better council and fix it right.

I really don't care who did it. I simply want it fixed.

How can BO actually walk down a street without laughter and finger pointing is beyond me.

If I rented a house where you had been a previous tenant and you had run up huge, unpaid electric, water, sewage and trash bills, what legal obligation would I have to pay your bills?

None.

Your bills follow you.

George W. Bush's crime's and excesses will haunt him and his followers to their graves.

You don't get to pawn that crap off on someone else.

It's yours. Own it.

XO: For someone who didn't have the time, you spent an inordinant amount of it commenting on this blog.

For the sake of argument, let's assume Bush is responsible for all of the ills he left President BO. Now when does President BO become responsible for all the ills he has caused since taking office?

The typical liberal answer: never.

Amen Ablur! I really don't care who's fault it is. BO wanted this job, so he needs to deal with the problems that came with the office. He needs to grow up, quit playing the blame game and actually try and fix things. Oh but that will never happen because he's a community organizer!

XO- so what if Bush owns it? Then what? BO gets to say, see, I told you it wasn't my fault? All of us are tired of hearing about him complaining!!
