GOVERNMENT RENEGGERS

You can trust them.

Of course you can.

If the government says they will do something, you can take it to the bank.

They will do it!

They will! They will! Oh, yes, they will.

Take the cash for clunkers program, for instance.

What?

What's that you say?

The government is reneging on its deal to pay cash for your old clunker?

The deal was that if your car gets less than 18 miles per gallon, you can turn it in on a new car and receive a discount and the government would give the dealer a rebate of up to $4,500.00.

That's a good deal.

I've heard several people say they bought new cars with the program.

Well, the deals are in the works...according to the rules set out by the government.

According to a USA TODAY report, "The government is suspending the explosively popular "cash for clunkers" program fearing it would go broke before it could parcel out what it still owes dealers for a huge backlog of sales."

Tonight's news featured dealers who had sold new cars, taken in the clunkers, had the clunkers crushed as per the government instructions, gave the customer their discount, and now are likely not to get their money back from the government.

Since I began this post, the government has decided to put another $2 billion into the "Cash for Clunkers" program.

Let's see...four days for $1 billion, so $2 billion more should give us eight more days.

Yea!

You can trust the government to handle your health care in the same way. Just like they do EVERYTHING else.

Start at one cost, discover it will not do the job, raise the cost and make a total wreck of it.

Get out the medical crushing machines.

At least we know that President BO would never reneg on his promise.

Never.

As with ALL democrat programs, this thing hits the poor the worst. Where are the poor going to get reasonably-priced used cars? Where are they going to get engine parts to fix up their own cars? This is another insane attempt to save the world. And it will have absolutely no effect, since we are the only country doing it.

Poorly planned and poorly executed. You're right, Joe - a preview of government-run health care.

I suspect that why the White House has put so little care and planning into Cash for Clunkers is that no Obama related gangsters like ACORN are collecting a cut. Why should Obama waste perfectly good tax payer money on anything he doesn't personally profit from?
