SOME VERY TAXING QUESTIONS

With the liberal/progressives almost apoplectic over the call to place a greater “share” of taxes on the so-called rich, it would seem that rich people are not paying “their fair share.”

So, let me ask you liberal/progressives a few questions.

Section 1:

1. Is it true, or is it not true that the Congressional Budget Office should have the necessary statistical information to determine who earns what and who pays what in taxes in the United States?

2. If it is not true, what agency would be better qualified to present that information?

3. Does the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) indicate that the top 1% of income earners in the United States paid 39% of federal income taxes?

4. Does the CBO report that the top 1% of income earners in the United States earned 18% of pretax income?

5. Is it true or not that the CBO says that the top 5% of income earners paid 61% of federal income taxes while earning 31% of pretax income?

6. While we are on the subject, does CBO report that the top 40% of income earners paid 99.4% of federal income taxes, while the bottom 40% of income earners paid no federal income taxes at all?

7. According to CBO, did the bottom 40 % of income earners received 3.8% from IRS?

8. Finally, does CBO indicate that the middle 20% of income earners paid only 4.4% of federal income taxes?

You can check these figures out at CBO's website.
9. If those figures are true (and who wouldn’t believe such an intergitous body as the Congressional Budget Office?), how is placing a greater tax burden on the rich going to help either the total budgetary income or the country as a whole, since the “rich” could only possibly pay .6% more of federal taxes than they are already paying?

Section 2

10. Assuming you are not self-employed or a business owner, how many of you liberal/progressives work for a person or corporation that is poorer than you are?

11. If we took all of the money that belonged to all of the top 40% of earners in the United States, by how much would we be able to reduce the budget deficit?

12. If we applied the same money to the national debt, by how much would we be able to reduce it?

The answers to questions 1 and 3-8 are all “yes.”

The answer to question 9 is “It won’t.”

Question 10’s answer is “0”

“Negligible” is the answer to questions 11 and 12.

So, why can’t liberal/progressives understand that government’s economic problem is not more income, but the dire need for less spending (which is not to be confused with a lesser increase in spending)?

There are only a few possibilities: 1) They don’t care about facts, just about feelings; 2) They have never been taught how to actually arrive at factual information through adequate research; 3) They have pre-conceived notions based on their inability to discern the truth or fiction of what MainStream Media feeds them; 4) They don’t really care, they just want to disrupt the functionality of the United States any way they can; 5) They actually believe everything their liberal/progressive professors taught them in college or 6) They have chosen Marxism as their economic orientation.

Why do you liberal/progressives so hate the economic principles lain by our nations’ founders that you are willing to destroy the country to overturn them?

With how much debt do you think it is appropriate to saddle our children and grandchildren?

Finally, what is wrong with everybody who earns over a “poverty level” income paying a reasonable, set, flat rate of income tax on that overage?

totally agree with a flat tax Joe.There are too many loopholes in both the upper and lower tax brackets.
And then you get certain groups getting "Waivers" due to their political affiliations, the head of the IRS not knowing how to use Turbo Tax and the writer of the tax codes not knowing he has to claim income from foreign rental property. I think it's time to trim the government and trim the 7,000 page tax code.
With Sweden's 4 million person population they still have the biggest government with poverty levels lower than our lowest and alot of government corruption.
I am afraid that if the left keeps trying to centralize our government with 300 million people the corruption may run more rampant that the Soviet Union.

What percentage of the wealth do the top 5% control?

Why do you ignore Social Security taxes when they are more regressive and generate as much revenue as the income tax. Now combine them and report on the results.

My total Fed and state taxes went into six figures. I should be whining about it, not you.

Sweden has a lot of government corruption? Studies place it as the world's least corrupt country.

Another incoherent right winger who doesn't pay squat for taxes mouthing off.

Lisa: We have a mighty mess of amateurs running the government, don't we?

Ducky: I ignored Social Security because my topic was federal income taxes.

Ironically, I am on Social Security, but because of the economy lost my retirement savings, have to work and am now paying Social Security taxes again.

How do you like them apples?

Nevertheless, staying on topic makes conversation and discussion easier...you should try it...you'll like it.

BTW: re:Sweden...corruption does not count itself as corrupt.

No Joe, you are talking about the over taxation of the wealthy by selectively pointing to income tax.

Once again you're full of it.

My retirement savings are in tact why were you so poorly invested? I thought fringe right wingers undertood economics.

I know it's hard to admit it Ducky because Sweden is the left's role model. But yes there is, for its size alot of corruption ,plus their poor are poorer than our poorest living along the Mississippi
But thanks for your typical left wing, know it all, educations.
I wouldn't call 10,000 for property taxes on top of all my the other taxes I pay chump change, just because the democrats consider billions chump change.

"My total Fed and state taxes went into six figures. I should be whining about it, not you."

And you sould be paying more.

Ducky: In fact, I was in ministry, and as the economy dried up, so did the available funds of the ministry in which I served. I stuck it out longer than I should have, thinking things would turn around, which they did not.

I didn't have much...just barely enough, and it disappeared.

Don't misunderstand, I don't mind having to work, I just would like to find something I enjoy doing.

Maybe someday.

Meanwhile, you just keep on with your condescention and arrogance, you seem to think it makes you a better person.

I feel very, very sorry for you.
