Terry Jones, the Florida pastor who oversaw the burning of a Koran last month, said he did not feel responsible for the violent protest at a United Nations compound in Afghanistan today that left at least 11 dead. Instead, he said the violence proved his point.
Rev. Jones is a pastor in a small, insignificant little independent church in Florida.
His actions would not have been noticed in another time.
But in this age of anti-Americanism on the part of our MainStream Media, his earlier threats to burn a Koran, and his subsequent actually doing so, made major league headlines...for no real reason.
Was he right in burning Koran?
Not in my opinion.
Did he have a right to burn a Koran?
He did in my opinion.
The real issue is about the disproportionate reaction of the Afghans.
What should have happened was for a high ranking representative of the Afghans to take to the airways and "condemn" the pastor's behavior.
Instead, we had riots in the street, killings and at least two beheadings.
How could this irrational response happen in a country so advanced, so civilized, so peace-oriented and so politically sophisticated as Afghanistan?
The answer is that Afghanistan is not rational, is not advanced, is not civilized, is not peaceful and is not politically sophisticated.
The common Afghan is a barbarian who believes, if anything is done or said that he doesn't like, he is justified in rioting and killing over it.
If you are a woman, he feels especially justified to publically humiliate you, sexually abuse you and stone you.
Liberal progressives will tell us it is a cultural thing and we should be more understanding.
I say it is a murdurous thing and is beyond understanding.
Women of America must be so looking forward to the day when some form of Afghan law takes a firm grip on this country.
The Afghans of Mazar-i-Sharif behaved in just the way as could be expected.
Truth is, the wayward pastor did not cause the bloodshed in Afghanistan, Afghans chose to do what they did. They are the ones responsible.
How could anyone condone their response.
But you can bet there will be plenty of Americans who will.

Now, who in Afghanistan, publicized the moron Jones' Quran burning? Why it was our good friend President Karzai.
Yup, our puppet got the crazies in Afghanistan all fired up, and why? Seems he had also just given a speech about the American military kill squads who have been getting wasted on heroin and going out to bag a few civilian trophies and pose for photos with their kills like they're Ernest Hemingway.
So there is a chain of events here and once again it becomes clear that we should get out butts out of that country.
Good try Joe but you've got those right wing blinkers on, as usual.
Duck: So waht if it WAS Karzai's urging that prompted the Afghans to act like barbarians? In your mind, does that justify killing and beheading?
If President BO told us "righties" (or more likely his union minions)to start killing and wounding our fellow Americans we would do so? Or do we have a better sense of civil responsibility than that?
Would SEIU be comparable to the Afghans who committed these atrocities?
Or would this be a good point for the inherent "goodness" of Americans to kick in and show restraint in spite of our president's urging?
Could you be fired up by some American equivalent of Karzai?
Your shades are too dark.
Was is a smart thing to do, I don't think so.
Did he have every right in the world (in America) to do so, YES indeed.
How about Burning the American flag?
Didn't our Supreme Court say it's alright to do that!
Well Duh!
the malcontent: My question is: If Afghans had burned a Bible, would there be killings and beheadings in America? Would there be riots? Would anybody even take notice? Would MSM even report it?
I just read this at another site:
President Karzai’s brother denied that the Kandahar protests were a result of the Quran burning.
“The protests in the last two days in Kandahar have no link to the Quran burning in U.S. at all, but were all organized by some people to loot public and government properties,” Ahmad Wali Karzai told CNN, adding that he condemned the desecration of Islam’s holy book.

Excellent point. And we need not have the answer. We already know it.
They are looking for any excuse to right, Joe and when soldiers get high and go out and randomly kill civilians for a photo opportunity just what do you call that kind of behavior, Christian?
Ducky I don't think anyone is condoning that. You put young boys in a situation where they see violence they would never experience in a lifetime and you can bet you will find some who will be mentally scarred for life just like many of our Viet Nam Vets like the guy who used to walk down my block ducking bombs and yelling out "GET AWAY,I HAVE A GUN" or a friend of ours who to tis day still cannot go into a Chines Restaurant.
Mark: Ducky was right about one thing: the Afghans were looking for any excuse...no matter what it was. They love being indignant and fighting over whatever made them indignant.
Ducky: "...when soldiers get high and go out and randomly kill civilians for a photo opportunity just what do you call that kind of behavior, Christian?"
No, I call it dispicable.
But just because somebody does something wrong, that does not mean that somebody else has to do something wrong in retaliation.
That is 4th grade, uncivilized thinking (about all most Afghans and liberal/progressives are capable of).
lisa: The Duck just loves to pick a fight with conservatives, He'll take any excuse he can find, relevant or not.
great piece Joe..barbarians will always blame their victims..sick stuff my friend.........God bless u.
WHT: Sick indeed. Thank you for the blessing.
Some evolve and some stay stuck in their rut, unwilling to take on the responsibility that would come from it.
As goes the liberal, it is far easier to lash out and use the full measure of emotion and violence then it is to hold back and use persuasion and intelligence to win in the end. Immediate gratification leads to acts as abhorrent as this.
