DEMS GOT "THEIR WAY" - REPUBLICANS CAVE

It is 3:00 AM on this Saturday, April 9, 2011.

I am sitting here experiencing one of my frequent reactions to a drug called Niaspan. It feels as though someone has sprinkled cyan pepper all over my body, from my toes to the top of my bald head.

I have just learned that the government will not shut down.

Too bad.

I have read a couple of synopses of the "agreement," and all I can say is Republicans caved.

Of what use is a majority if a minority can still decide what you can and cannot do?

It certainly didn't happen when the Democrats had control of the house.

They effectively precluded Republicans from taking part in almost all discussions, they passed a very unpopular health care bill, they did pretty much as they pleased.

So when Republicans give them a shellacking in the mid-term elections, the shoe is on the other foot...or so one might think.

Not so.

See, Democrats in DC are ruthless, mean, hard line, unyielding (insert your favorite term of derision here), while Republicans are "gentlemanly," "civilized," calm and foolish.

In short, Republicans are what they have been for the last 10 years: Lilly-Livered, Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers.

Some may say the Republicans bowed to public pressure.

Well, that just goes to further prove my point.

President BO did not bow to public pressure over the health care bill...neither did Democrats.

Neither gives a flying hoot about what the public wants.

So lots of folks who thought they would get a paid (if only retroactively) day or two off, won't.

Parks and Recreation workers will have to open their parks and help people recreate.

Education department workers will have to report to work Monday and see how much more they can mess up education in the US.

And our troops will get their paychecks on time. (This is a good thing, but it probably would have happened anyway, had the government shut down, in spite of what MSM would have you believe.)

And so it goes.

Democrats got their way and the Neanderthalic Republicans got their cave.

It's a 'Boehner thing,' Joe. Remember, he was part of that disastrous 2006 bunch in Congress, lead by a spineless Denny Hastert, but Boehner was a whip back then. He still is part of that old chicken livered cave crowd, and you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

John will get his in the end. We will cave on a few other spending cuts here and there in the next year, approved by Boehner, and in the 2012 szunami, Eric Cantor, Michelle Bachman or someone else with some stones will be put in charge to act like the adult.

Fredd: I look forward to it with eager anticipation.

Doesn't it just make you want to pound your head against a wall? Fredd, I hope you're right.

Susannah: I already have a bruise.

As stated, John Boehner (R-Tanning booth) is having a lot of trouble with the Tea Baggers.

They will manage to cause the Republican party to implode.

Ducky: Actually, if the Republican Party implodes, maybe it will get rid of some of those who are RINOS but don't know it.

Then we will get something productive done.

We can't get everything we want the first time out of the chute. We need to adopt the patience of liberals. Look how long it took them to go from no abortion at all to abortion at the drop of a dime for no reason at all.

And look how long it took for Republicans to crush slavery, win full suffrage, end segregation over the opposition of democrats. And, no big surprise, Obama is now taking credit for the "biggest budget cut in history" -- to HIS budget!! -- just as democrats take credit for all the human rights advances in this country.

The credit he is taking would be more impressive if he hadn't jumped the deficit by so freakin' much in the first place ...

LR: I know...I know. It's just that the very concept of "compromise" smacks of giving in to the other side...something we have done too much of.

And watch...they'll proclaim victory and spin this as Republicans' fault right up to 2012.

Cary: Yep...He's either dumb as an old rotton log or he IS the smartest man to sit in the WH.
