this nearly makes me cry. WHY are these wonderful people on conservative blogs and NOT ON TELEVISION!? WHy don't they BUY TIME and put themselves ON and warn people??

It makes me SO ANGRY!

Z: I certainly do wish he, and others like him, were on TV constantly.

His message is plain, straight-forward, honest and clear.

It is not an attack ad, but it makes certain we know where the issues are.

So the answer is austerity? Have you been paying attention to the situation in England? Oh, they aren't putting that on TV. You have to dig a little.

In the video he says he doesn't know the answer but Romney must be the way.
Makes you wish for educated conservatives, an oxymoron.

How bad is it for Home Depot?

Their stock is up nearly 100% in the last 18 months.

Stiff doesn't want to offer his "associates" health insurance.

Ducky: Could you please put you comments into one comment post. It looks as though you are trying to monopolize the comments section.

The answer is to make it easy to run a successful business without government involvement.

Over 50 "green" companies that received government bailouts are either bankrupt or are moving toward bankruptcy.

Government involvement (interference) in business is never helpful...never.

"How bad is it for Home Depot?

WOW! That's a good thing for the economy!

We need MORE business thriving like that!

How much government "help" did Home Depot receive to make them that viable?

Well Joe, sometimes I break up the comments because I have to pause and control my temper.

Now let's look at this little clip that makes z cry.

First, he mentions Greece. Greece doesn't even have a sovereign currency so the comparison is absolutely ridiculous and you should reject this immediately.

Next, he sounds as if he wants to go back to Bretton Woods and a system of finance that would not have allowed the rapid expansion he enjoyed.
This guy is very, very good at selling sump pumps, dry wall and plumbing supplies. Is he a good economist?

I would encourage you to do some reading on the nature of money. It's a tough slog but it will allow you to get past the cliches.
Again, look at what the IMF is saying about Britain's austerity.
Then study what the Prime Minister replied about interest rates. That gets you into a very difficult topic, the bond market.

Now ask why this guy who understands how to sell things doesn't want the government to issue money so that people can work and spend it on the stuff he sells.

Difficult topics. It's much easier to point to a few business failures (how many green companies are succeeding? Ever researched that?) and make the jump that so many on the fringe right do that we should go back to the financial system that would have made enterprises like Home Depot more difficult.

Remember, we on the left are inquisitive and try to understand difficult topics. We want to help. You aren't going to get anywhere listening to some idiot who compares the controller of the world's reserve currency to Greece isn't going to get you very far.

Next topic: The gold standard left our financial system at the mercy of those who wished to convert their reserves. Why do we want to go back to that? Please use Saudi Arabia in your analysis.

Remember, the left is here to help you think.

Ducky: "...doesn't want the government to issue money so that people can work and spend it on the stuff he sells."

Because when the government issues money, inflation sets in and reduces the value of the money people spend at his stores. That means they can buy LESS with the same amount of money.

In today's economy, money represents a unit of labor and/or production. (Full faith and credit of the U.S. government means absolutely nothing). Reduce the value of the money and you increase the cost of the labor or product per unit.

Ducky's here said...

What's the inflation rate now?

In other words, since we are issuing money the productivity rate shouldn't be expanding (which it is). You aren't being clear, Joe.

Would you rather go back to the gold standard which removed so many tools for managing the business cycle? You a fan of depressions?

Are you stating that the ONLY influence on inflation is the currency supply?
In other words you're a monetarist. And monetarism didn't fare too well in practice and has dropped out of favor.

Stop listening to Pete Peterson.

I refuse to ever shop at Home Depot - they are part of the problem.

Home Depot spends thousands of dollars supporting and promoting the homosexual agenda, including sponsoring and marching in "gay pride" parades.

For that reason alone, I refused to listen to anything he has to say.

Quite an economics dissertation thee, Glenn.

Duckass,

It wasn't meant as an economics point, it was meant as a moral point, and a point of irony about a man who speaks to us about the future of the country while at the same time doing all he can to ruin the country by supporting sexual perversion.

Now, try to say something intelligent once in a while.

What is it like living in the middle ages?

You should join the Westboro Baptist Church and start travelling around the country with the Fred Phelps clan protesting at the funerals of soldiers blaming their deaths on the idea that God is punishing America because of homosexuality.

Whenever I see people that rabidly homophobic, it makes me wonder whether or not they are mounting a mighty effort to suppress their own urges.

Queen Gertrude: "The Lady doth protest too much, methinks."

William Shakespeare, "Hamlet", Act III, scene II.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

X.O.,
I swear, you liberals are acting more and more like jackasses with the comments you make.

Why is it living in the middle ages to say that homosexual behavior is immoral and perverse? Biology 101 says it is not what the human body is made for - as does common sense.

Westboro is a cult, and the members have no idea what Christianity teaches. Why is it you liberals drag up the likes of them or the KKK in order point to “Christianity”? They don’t represent the faith in any way, shape or form. And only a complete idiot would teach their nonsense about homosexuality. If God was punishing the U.S.A for that, then why hasn’t He punished the rest of the world for the same thing? Why hasn’t He wiped San Francisco off the map, e.g.? Actually, God seems to be punishing America for our entire degraded society which has turned its back on Him. Sexual immorality is rampant, abortion is the norm, the Church itself has a horrendous amount of apostasy and heresy, etc. Homosexuality is just a small part of the overall debasing of the USA.

The old victim mentality throws out that “homophobic” claim, as if people who don’t want to be forced to sanction homosexuality are just either afraid of it or hate it. The majority of us could care less about it as long as people like you aren’t trying to force it down our throats at the threat of punishment for not accepting and sanctioning it.

Your ignorance is astounding.

You are under the ridiculous impression that human sexuality should be constrained biological reproductive impulses and to Holy Sanctioned Procreation.

Sexuality has nothing to do with biology. You are confusing apples and oranges.

By the way, that walking stick handle you are grasping so firmly...

Just sayin'.

Just sayin'"

That's a perfect example of why I get fed up with letting you and your twin, Ducky, remain on this blog.

You just can't be man enough to allow yourself to be civil. It always has to seek the lowest common denominator of vulgarity.

Why is that?

Xavier Onassis said...

Jo Joe - I wasn't being uncivil. Just pointing out the INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS.

You didn't object to the reference to "Duckass".
Little hypocrisy here,Joe?

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

X.O.

Sexual immorality isn't just a Biblical idea - it has been a societal idea forever, and every nation which decayed into sexual immorality as a lifestyle for that nation, ended up falling about. Human sexuality, properly used, is what keeps a society in check, and helps it progress.

Ducky, "Duckass" was a combining of "Ducky" and "Jackass" because your behavior is that of a jackass.

Joe said...

GEC: "Ducky, "Duckass" was a combining of "Ducky" and "Jackass" because your behavior is that of a jackass."

Now, Glenn, don't be too hard on Ducky. Remember, he is a leftist liberal and only knows vile and vulgar interpretations of almost anything.

He can't help it.
