WILL VOTING AT YOUR POLLING PLACE BE RIGGED?

If you think voter fraud is relegated to third world countries, think again.

In North Carolina, the machine will choose your candidates for you. If you choose the straight party ticket option for Republicans, the machine might well cast your vote for Democrats. It happened in early voting over and over again.

In Boulder City, Nevada, the ballots might just be already marked for you in favor of, who else, Harry Reid.

How about Illinois? There the vote-by-mail system may disenfranchise thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of voters.

Absentee ballots are in peril in Bucks County Pennsylvania.

In Alaska, polling directors wanted to supply voters with a list of potential write-in candidates, something specifically prohibited by Alaska law. A judge has restrained them from providing such a list.

Some military absentee ballots are at issue in Leon County, Florida.

So here’s the point.

We can expect there to be slip-ups. Look, I’m from Florida. I know all about voting slip-ups.

But we must be vigilant about outright fraud and flaws designed into the system.

If you spot an issue when you vote, whether early voting, absentee ballot voting or voting on Tuesday at the polls, speak up…quickly, clearly and politely, but firmly.

There are always some absolute truths that are undeniable:

1. A temporary tax is never temporary.
2 Pretty girls win beauty pageants, homely girls do not.
3. Handsome, young virile looking men with clefts in their chins sit in the anchor chair at the news desk, while old, fat bald guys do not.
4. Democrats lie and cheat to stay in power, since their policies stink.

So far I haven't heard anything being corrupt in town, but you never know.

I early voted, and there is not an option for a straight Republican ticket or Democrat. I had to go to each selection, maybe that is a good thing.

In New York, some election boards didn't even bother to send absentee ballots to American service men and women serving abroad.

But in Troy, New York (my state), people can receive absentee ballots if they plan to "take a bus to a casino" on election day.

An vote-stealing scandal is simmering in Troy because apparently at least one common council member applied for absentee ballots for real people, filled them out and sent them in--voting, not surprisingly, for the Democrat candidate.

I will be voting.

There is nothing that can get between me and my polling place.

No job, no obstacle, no inconvenience, no weather. The same is true for every Liberal I know.

We will be there to send the Tea Party Crazies back into the intellectual vaccuum from which they came.

See you on election day, citizen!

XO: Good to know you're voting. Sad to know you're voting in a pseudo-intellectual vaccuum.

Fredd: Does #3 mean that I have no chance at being a news anchor?

Leticia: Just be on guard.

QR: Good that NY requires a significant excuse to avoid actually going to the polls.

tha malcontent: I'm having trouble getting to your blog. Where is it?

Joe said...

tha malcontent: GOT IT!

#3 is an axiom of life that is immutable and undeniable. Feel free to apply for Brian Kilmeade's or Bill Hemmer's gigs at Fox, see what they tell you, and let me know how it went.

I grew up in 3rd world countries and everybody knows the politician graft is ever-present. The graft charge is factored into the equation and is common knowledge. In the Great USA, we are sanctimonious and pretend our politicians are all altruistic and there is no graft. We are just good at looking at it with blinders.
As look as we have professional politicians and a ruling government class (bureaucratic), we will always be at their mercy.
Term limits is one of the keys...get rid of all the incumbents and don't let the replacements stay very long.

Joe said...

Ginsu: I like term limits. I've even thought that we should have term limits of about two hours, with elections every eight years.

That would give us seven yers and twenty-two hours with no lawmakers.

Just think of how little legislators could get done and how little harm they could do.

And in Illinois, they deny deployed soldiers the vote, but give it to Crook County prisoners.

Joe, Thats why I hope we have a 50/50 split with nothing but gridlock.

Ginsu said...

Big Government is not corrupt enough.
Obama said he is going to "Change" that...make it bigger and more corrupt.

Joe said...

Silverfiddle: They are, after all, friends of BO.

Ginsu: Let's hear it for gridlock!

Joe, why are you also on the possibility of fraud in the Nevada Senate race?

Do you have any evidence, or just what you have heard, think, or feel?

Are you aware that the basis of these charges stems from a statement by Sharron Angles lawyer before voting began that she felt Harry Reid would steal the election if he could not win at the voting booth? A statement that was made before early voting began.

Are you aware that both Las Vegas newspapers, the liberal Sun and the conservative Review Journal have reported that there has been no evidence of fraud?

Are you aware that the Secretary of State and the Commissioner of Elections have both said there is no evidence of fraud.

Are you aware that the FBI is part of the Secretary of States team and they have found nothing?

Are you aware that former governors of both parties have said there is no evidence of fraud?

The conservatives are the ones raising this red herring with no evidence?

At least as far as Nevada is concerned, we do not need uninformed outsiders spreading false statements and innuendo. We will have enough problems of our own once Ms. Angle wins Tuesday, and I believe she will...

51% for her...

DM: The local Fox affiliate reports from Boulder City:

Some voters in Boulder City said they are concerned about fraud at the electronic ballot box.

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid’s name was already checked.Ferrara said she wasn’t alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.

“Something’s not right,” Ferrara said. “One person that’s a fluke. Two, that’s strange. But several within a five minute period of time — that’s wrong.”

While officials denied "fraud," I don't think you would like it if you went to the polls to vote for a Democrat and your machine already had the Republican's name checked.

Maybe that is not evidence of "fraud," but it is evidence that something is wrong.

Dave Miller said...

Actually Joe, these "charges" have already been investigated by the Secretary of State and the Commissioner of Elections and no evidence has been found.

Here is the link to the report. The conclusion is on page 20.

http://media.lasvegassun.com/media/pdfs/blogs/documents/2010/10/29/NRP_Report_of_Investigation_10.29.100000.pdf

Also, there is no FOX News in Boulder City, rather they are located in Las Vegas.

It should also be noted that none of these people brought their complaints to the proper authorities, choosing instead a more friendly media outlet in FOX.

Now why would they do that instead of going to the people whose job it is to enforce the law?

In this case Joe, the burden is on people to report, or at least opine on facts, not unfounded rumor, which is what this is at least as it relates to Nevada.

I do not think you would want rumors spread about about you on such flimsy charges, charges that have already been found to be false.

Joe said...

DM: Did you notice the words, "...might be marked?"

It was reported, rightly or wrongly.

The point of the post, of course, was: be vigilant.

And I think I advised people to properly report any problems.
