IMPORTANT OR NOT?

The reason I created this blog was not to list the facts about political candidates, good or bad, but to try to give some meaning, from my perspective, to those facts.

For instance, Why is it important to know that John McCain was a POW? Why is it important to know that BO hung around with a domestic terrorist?

Hopefully, it will help you make a wise, rather than just an emotional, decision come election day.

John McCain has extensive military service. He knows what the military is about, how to take and give orders, and how to endure extreme hardship as a POW.

After flight training, McCain flew A-4 Skyhawk attack aircraft in the Vietnam war.

On his 23rd mission, an October 1967 attack on a Hanoi power plant, his plane was shot down, and McCain, with three broken bones, was imprisoned in the famous "Hanoi Hilton."

Of his more than five years in prisoner-of-war camps, nearly two of those years were spent in solitary confinement.

These experiences will be brought to bear in his role as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, one of his Constitutional responsibilities. He is an expert on matters military.

Barack Obama has had NO military service of any kind.

He is absolutely UNPREPARED, having had no training of any kind, or any experience of any kind to fulfill this most important Constitutional mandate.

If he is elected, he will be engaged in on the job training for a role he needs to be prepared for on day one of his presidency.

BO is mostly anti-war and presents that as a positive aspect of his campaign (a military word, by the way).

But we are in a war, and we need a leader who understands it and has experience with it.

BO is not qualified.

John McCain has personal experience being assaulted by terrorists, which experience he gained as a POW in the infamous HANOI HILTON.

He understands how terrifying terrorists are.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, has aligned himself with known terrorists, in the person of William Ayers and his wife.

While I do not mean that BO participated in any direct terrorist activity. As far as I know, he did not, but with association comes alliance and with alliance comes complicity.

BO comes closer to being more aware of how to commit terrorism than to combat it.

He is filled with philosophies of war and of terrorism, but absolutely NO training or experience dealing with how to combat them.

So, it is important that we know the background of the person we place in the White House.

What he/she IS has been formed by his/her life experiences.

The person most ready to fulfill the Constitutional duty of Commander in Chief of the Armed forces is John McCain.

Great post Joe! I couldn't agree with you more and your quote above puts the nail in the coffin. (sorry, a bit dreary today)

McCain does have the experience necessary to defend our nation, Obama wants to have the terrorists over for tea and cookies. I fear for the nations security if Obama becomes president....among many other things. Could you imagine if he would have been in office on 9-11. Well, we deserved it, because blah, blah, blah, blah. blah! Yeah, try telling that to the victims families!

A terrible experience, yes but there are serious matters at stake. Why does this make him qualified for command?

Can you demonstrate that he does not have a subconscious need for revenge which can manifest itself in impetuous aggression?

This is a thought provoking post Joe! I think McCain's experience as a POW has prepared him to handle extreme physical, psychological, and emotional stress to a degree that most couldn’t comprehend. Being the president is a stressful job, and McCain at an early age has developed the coping skills that would prepare him to deal with such a stressful job.

McCain is an old man.

Should he keel over in office, God forbid, and Caribou Barbie have to take over, what military experience would she have that would qualify her? If she has none, would that be as much a negative against her as you claim it is against Obama?

Just asking.

Joe said...

ducky's here: I can't demonstrate anything.

One might go on the premise that some military experience is better than none.

Can you demonstrate that BO doesn't have a subconscious need for power and despotism which would manefest itself in turning the country to socialism?

Both my scenario and yours are stupid...just plain stupid.

Neither of us is a mind reader (are you?).

What you do have to go on is the sum total of the experiences each of them has had to date.

Those are the things which have made them what they are today.

BO's experiences have been with subversives, anti-Americanism, terrorists, frauds and thugs.

John McCain's experiences have been pro-American, pro-democracy, and pro-industriousness.

You can decide which of the two you prefer, and that will say a lot about you, your honesty and your character.

Satyavati devi dasi: "Just asking" my hind leg!

Why do you people stoop to such low levels?

You were not "just asking," and you know it.

That was a set-up born of your propensity to bash anything non-liberal.

Now Sarah Palin may not have been in the military, but she is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the State of Alaska, and has the power to call out these forces to execute the laws…

The governor may proclaim martial law when the public safety requires it…

Really would help if you knew what you were talking about instead of just smarting off on various blogs on which you wish to cause trouble.

Nevertheless, come back any time...if you think you can take it.

Satyavati devi dasi said...

No, seriously...

If Obama's lack of military experience means he isn't qualified to be president, then how would Sarah Palin's lack of experience NOT also disqualify her, should the instance arise that she need to take over?

I think that's a valid question.

Satyavati devi dasi said...

Being "commander in chief" of the least populated state in the union-and has it ever been under martial law?- is hardly the equal of McCain's POW experience.

Sitting behind a desk is not the equivalent of sitting in a jungle with an M1A1, is it?

I don't think the two can be fairly equated and I doubt that many veterans would feel they could.

Stop using double standards. If military experience is a qualifier then Palin isn't qualified either.

Joe said...

Satyavati devi dasi: My sense is that you are not going to allow yourself to be convinced, even if I give you an iron-clad, irrefutable reaponse.

But, being the positive type, I will try:

Being the governor of a small state is one step up from never having been the governor of anything.

That's Palin one, BO nothing.

(BTW: Don't tell me what to do on my own blog. This is NOT a free speech area. I, and I alone, am the sole arbiter of what can and cannot be said here. And I have the power of "delete" to enforce it.)

I read and re-read my post and my responses and nowhere did I EQUATE Governor Sarah Palin's experience with John McCain's.

So your snide little comment about sitting in a jungle, etc. is not germain.

At least TRY to stick to the subject.

What I DID say is that Sarah Palin's experience is MORE than BO's.

Are you smart enough to understand that? I think you are.

Oh, and come back Sunday...you'll be the star of the show!

Satyavati devi dasi said...

I'm smart enough to understand that you've twisted your whole square-peg-argument in order to fit it into a round hole.

Your first point: Obama has no military experience, therefore he is not qualified to run the country.

Your second point: John McCain has military experience, therefore he is qualified to run the country.

Your third point: Sarah Palin has no military experience, but because she's governor of a vast wilderness with a few people in it, she's qualified to run the country.

Therefore it could be concluded that lack of military experience only disqualifies certain people, while for other people, it holds no bearing.

Sure.. I understand you now.

Joe said...

Satyavati devi dasi Do you jsut feel constrained to fight?

Talk about twisting, your answer reminds me of my American flag flapping in hurricane Wilma.

Any way...you just keep trying to make the same point over and over, without really using straight-line logic.

You have said I said what I have not said, but you said I said it by twisting and editing what I said to make it say what you want it to say.

Go find another horse to ride.

What you seem to be forgetting is that Obama is running for PRESIDENT, Palin isn't! You are comparing apples to oranges. Since you cannot compare McCain and Obama and come out ahead, you then try comparing Obama to Palin. Palin is a VP, if anything compare her military experience to Biden's, which is zilch, nada, none!

Joe said...

jennifer: Thanks for your intervention!

I love dialog, but ole Satyavati devi dasi has tried to turn this into diatribe.

I've tried to be patient, but she thinks she is an angel and just keeps harping.

I tried politely to encourage her to cease and desist until I write another post with which she can disagree, but she hasn't taken the hint.

I guess I'll have to resort to my trusty mouse pointer in conjunction with the delete button.

Satyavati devi dasi said...

My original point was that McCain is old, and should he kick it, God forbid, wouldn't her lack of military experience make her as disqualified as it makes Obama?

That's not comparing Obama to Palin, it's asking if the requirements would apply equally in a different situation.

It's not apples and oranges if you consider the chances of him not making it through the term.

Anonymous said...

"McCain is old"

Obama could "kick it" the day after he gets into office. So I guess you should also be concerned with Biden's lack of military experience? Should Biden be scrutinized like you are doing with Palin or is it just a double standard?

The what if's are just a ridiculous game to play with either canidate.

Nobody has as much military experience as McCain....period. I don't think Palin is a VP because of her "military experience."
So the questions really have no validity at all.

Joe said...

Satyavati devi dasi: You have made a good point...as to what your original statement/question was, and you have made your point, and you have made your point, and you have made your point, and you have made your point, and you have made your point, and you have made your point.

It was somewhat deviously made, but you made your point.

Good for you!

Now, let's move on, shall we?

jennifer: I couldn't have said it better myself.

Which may explain why I didn't say it at all.

My bad.

LOL...."my bad" ....you can say it to your heart's content. I have heard my kids say it, so it must not be too "uncool" :-)

Now I am finally going to bed....I have my son's hockey game tomorrow at 9:00 am. I'm nuts for still being here and awake!!

Since this is my blog, I get to do what I want with it, including deleting your comments.

You don't have to like it. I'm sure you won't. I'm just as sure that you'll have some vile, vulgar remarks to say, not having the wisdom to understand why "freedom of speech" is not license to say what you want, when you want, where you want.

So, once again...goodbye.

Yes, McCain endured over 5 years unspeakable torture at the hands of the Marxists in Vietnam.

That's the reason I can't understand why he didn't fight harder in his battle (debate)against "that one", the Marxist Senator from the people's republic of Illinois.

I believe you can write what you like on your own blog, just as I can write what I like on mine.

The feds can't keep either one of us from doing what we want.

By the way, I do not censor you when you are respectful and thought provoking, but I don't allow more than moderate disrespect here.

Thanks for the fame...even though I have to admit that there is some fame I could do without.

It's more like infamy.

Well isn't that special....LMAO! You must have seriously pissed him off for him to off like that on his blog. Yeah, I checked it out. It was what you would expect. A bunch of liberals nodding and whining about censorship. It's ironic that they get confused about rights......

They have the right to be stupid.
They have the right to be rude.
They have the right to criticize.
They have the right to complain.

We have the right to delete their stupid, rude, whining, complaining and criticizing posts. Don't ya just love that delete button.

I am all for a good debate, and if you can be respectful we can go on all day. I've had times with a liberal blogger that we would debate on and on, and at some point we would just agree to disagree. It's when the name calling starts that they lose all credibility and become trolls.
