OF BAYONETS AND HORSES

During the last debate, Obama (the amateur president) brought up bayonets in order to chide Mitt Romney for calling proposed military cuts devastating.

"You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916,” Obama said. “Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military's changed."

NEWSFLASH MR. PRESIDENT!

As Commander in Chief, you don't seem to know it, but the military still uses bayonets. They are standard issue to every Marine and are considered indespensible.

And they ride horses, too.

U.S. Special forces on horseback in Afghanistan.

And you want this inept, amateur man to continue as Commander in Chief?

Wow, Joe, a real 'gotcha'. Don't you think, maybe, he was commenting on the nature of warfare now compared to WWI? The Marines are issued bayonets and they train with them, but I haven't heard of any bayonet charges from trenches in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It's probably safe to say we have fewer horses in the military today than in 1917. Just like NYPD still have horseback cops, they're more likely to do police work from squad cars. Your photo of soldiers on horseback isn't quite the Rough Riders charge up San Juan Hill.

What about the premise of Obama's remarks, Romney's claim that the Navy has fewer active ships than in 1917? In 1917 there were 245, today there are 285. It's false and he and Ryan have been saying it for weeks. Plenty of time to check if what they were saying was correct. Like so many things they say, they don't care if it's true or not.

So, what he was saying was factually incorrect and laughable on it's face. Comparing a nuclear sub with a 1917 sub. Maybe he thinks they should have roll down windows.

And you want this inept, clueless, lying man to be Commander in Chief?

Barely 10 days before the election, the persistent whiff of scandal surrounding Barack Obama exploded into the banner headlines of a cover-up –– at least among certain press outlets. Everything changed Friday afternoon with the stunning revelations by Fox News that CIA operatives defending the embattled consulate in Benghazi, Libya, called three times for emergency assistance while the attack was in progress. Each time, they were shamefully turned down. One of those defenders, Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, was apparently able to use a laser designator to pin-point the location of the mortar that eventually killed him. It would have been an easy shot for American pilots had any been ordered to respond. Another new and critical detail: An American drone was overhead transmitting live video of the battle scene below.
Only days before, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton airily dismissed new revelations of incriminating emails, also uncovered by Fox. Yet those messages provided startling proof of how Washington decision-makers from the Pentagon to the White House Situation Room –– must have known within minutes or hours that the incident in Benghazi was 9/11.2, the second successful al Qaeda attack on American soil. They also would have known that this well-coordinated assault killed the American ambassador to Libya, as well as three other Americans who fought valiantly to save him.
With all this information from frantic messages sent by operators on the ground to highly detailed overhead battle-scene video who invented the asinine idea that the attack was collateral damage from a flash-mob reacting to a provocative video? The record there is incriminating. For weeks afterward, the administration party-line was that the video, not al Qaeda, was responsible for the disaster, a major point of President Obama’’s September speech to the United Nations. But when that story had morphed into an indefensible fiction, the party line shifted again, memorably summarized by Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. during his debate with Congressman Paul Ryan: “We didn’t know” because the intelligence establishment was still beavering away.
With all due respect, Mr. Vice President and Madam Secretary: You did know, and so did the horse-holders you rode in on. You also knew that the night-time battle in far-off Benghazi made mincemeat out of the prevailing Obama campaign narrative, “Osama is dead and General Motors is alive!” You realized too late that inconvenient questions were certain to be raised about embassy security in Libya. After all, hadn’’t the Library of Congress raised just those questions in an unclassified study only a month before? Worse yet, you also recognized that, wanting to keep a low profile on the anniversary of September 11, no American forces had been placed on alert, despite the Libyan power vacuum.
So you concocted the next best and the most politically correct cover story: the flash-mob video. With unrest everywhere in the aftermath of the Arab Spring, the flash-mob story must have been seized upon with all the fervor of a drowning man grasping at oars or straws. You could make all the right noises about deploring mob violence and anything critical of Islam. We’’re the good guys, remember? To make sure everyone understood, you even sent out U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice to spread the cover story on the usual TV talk shows. An ambassador is classically thought of as an honest man sent abroad to lie for his country. In her assigned role, Ms. Rice reached a new gender frontier right here at home.
This attack took place at night in Libya, and it was daytime here, they said the president was in Washington, DC at the time and he was in the situation room at time. He saw the real time display as this was happening. He, the President, is the only one that could have given the order to evac those people. The live feed was seen in Washington, DC during working hours, no duty section, working hours.

Now I understand why he could not look the families in the eyes when he was offering his condolences. Oh smiling Joe Biden was in the room, even though he announced on national TV he did not know. This makes me sick.

They still have horses in the military?
Of course they do.

Obama was referring to the fact that Romney is a bit behind the times and wants to order the charge of the light brigade in Afghanistan.

I claim blogxecutive privilege.

WH: This is so major that it must not go unreported...but knowing the MSM, it probably will.

Ducky: The Charge of the Light Brigade...I remember that.

Yes Virginia,
we still have and use Horses and Bayonets in the military!

Who writes this stuff for this Idiot? Or does this idiot write his own stuff? Or what does he put in those cigarettes, maybe this is why Obama thought the staff in Libya was safe!
Lets just hope that Obama, the clueless socialist clown president and his idiot vice president, will soon be looking for new jobs. Period.

Craig: "Don't you think, maybe, he was commenting on the nature of warfare now compared to WWI?"

If he was, he does not seem to be able to express himself well on the subject.

I wonder why the smartest man to ever occupy the White House, and the "greatest orator" to have ever done so, has such a hard time expressing himself.

Well, Joe, Craig has pointed out that an Ohio class attack sub has more fire power than all the navies at the turn of the twentieth century.

Romney sounds as if he still wants to build dreadnaughts.

He got a chuckle from the audience at the debate. He made a fool out of Mitt and you can't admit that. The Marines aren't charging Taliban fighters with fixed bayonets. They call in a laser guided airstrike and unload M14A carbines.

If we're attacked by and engage in close quarter combat with an army of used tires, the Marines are in good shape.

Xavier Onassis said...

The President said "fewer" horses and bayonetts. Not "none". Fewer.

Oh and, give it a rest Willie Hubbard. I know Faux News is trying to amp upa controversy, but that dog won't hunt and the American people don't care. That story won't have any impact on the election.

Save your breath.

Yesterday I’ve read pathetic rants filled with pathetic lies and hypocritical rantings from some of these disgustingly stupid blogs, especially one ignorant lout has the galls to call President Obama a liar, and another who continually calls the President a “Boy Child” because he hates that the President is defending himself against Candidate Romney’s lies about him, the other author is just stating the obvious, but remember the ignorant lout who wrote the first liar piece about Obama is part of a party that, for four years now, created a sick egoistical mentality that EVERYTHING they say is the truth, no matter how obviously faulty it is. They believe that because they say it, it’s the truth.
Mental delusion is far from the only things wrong with the racist right. Ever since the black man became President.
First lets get the obvious out of the way. ALL politicians lie, even Romney. then goes the racist right’s sick mentality that Obama ALWAYS lies and that he’s the ONLY liar AND that his whole life is a lie?
For example, he DID NOT make that horses and bayonets statements as these stupid racist bloggers say he did, he only use it as an comparison! Without a doubt..COMPLETE BULL., but here’s one that isn’t, Barack Obama is the most disrespected President in American History, and I can back that up with facts..
It’s disgusting how President Obama is being vilified for the death of FOUR Americans. It was a horrible tragedy but it also shows another mental problem with the right, and that is being hypocritical to the bone.
The Republican party of racists, bigots, extremists, homophobes, AND hypocrites scream bloody murder over the fact that FOUR Americans die under a “lie” that President Obama told, but then again these exact same hypocrites didn’t whine, in fact, they didn’t care or mind that hundreds and thousands of Americans died under a lie President Bush told. They didn’t mind that they died for an unjust war or that they died looking for weapons of Mass Delusion.
Remember, I’m talking about a party that are obviously hiding and denying the cold-hearted fact that they hate having a black man as the President of the United States, that they use these taboo words (they have shown time and time again that they don’t know the meaning of those words) in place of what they REALLY want to call him!
For the past four years, this here crowd of hateful crybaby has been belittle President Obama and has been definitely the most disrespectful blogger of a sitting President surely in American History (F.Y.I to the extremist right, YES HE IS the President).

Obama, Clinton, and Penetta knew exactly what transpired and that it was a terrorist attack that very night. Yet, they lied for days and days about it being caused by some video. They have lied to the American people about the deaths of our own citizens and no one has called them on it. This is outrageous and one of the biggest coverups in recent history. This should be headline story on every news channel. Obama wants all the credit for Bin Laden but none of the blame for Benghazi. Odd don't you think... or isn't it!…

Ducky's here said...

Why would they lie?

Unlike the fringe right, Obama's base knows that these cells exist and will continue to exist for some time.

While the fringe right wants to debate trivial semantics normals are more interested in the dynamics of the attack.
