HE NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR AMERICA?

Of course he went on an apology tour.

He did not call it that, but in every Arab nation he visited, he pointed out the bad side of the United States as though by doing so he would somehow soothe the wounds we supposedly had caused.

CNNObama did indeed mention past U.S. flaws in speeches.

CNNDuring an address in Strasbourg, France, in April 2009, Obama did utter words Romney referenced in the debate.

CNN: In that speech, Obama said, "there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

"The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history," Obama said. "Our country still struggles with the legacies of slavery and segregation, the past treatment of Native Americans."

Maybe there is another word to describe these and others remarks President BO (the child president) has made both here at home and around the world.

Regardless, his remarks served to belittle the U.S. in the eyes of those nations and did not help to bring them closer to us socially, diplomatically or politically.

They hate us more today than ever, as witnessed by their own reactions toward the U.S.

Although he takes "responsibility" (for which there must always be a price), it is an empty "responsibility," costing him nothing (except, hopefully, the election).

Joe, is there anything unfactual in what President Obama said?

Did he use the words We apologize anywhere in any of those statements as President Reagan did in our apology to people of Japanese descent in the 1980's?

Dave is at it again, with his LAME attempts to defend this poor excuse of a president. ....

News-Flash!
Reagan is NOT, I repeat. Is NOT running for election.

But the Child named Barack Hussein Obama is!

Dave Miller said...

No Darth, Reagan is not running for president, but Mitt Romney has publicly stated that a US President should never apologize for America, citing, as Joe Joe did, President Obama's supposed apology tour.

However neither you, Joe, Mitt Romney or anyone else can cite one instance where President Obama uses the words we apologize.

Now I think an argument can be made that a president should not mention overseas where we have done wrong, or failed in our efforts, but again, no one is making that argument.

That is also a far cry from an apology as much as a recitation of facts not in dispute.

Obama and his lying administration lied about the attack in Benghazi,
Libya cover up their incompetence in not adequately protecting our embassy, strictly for political reason to save is own ass, and he had the GAUL to accuse Mitt Romney of politicizing the event. How can the American people even think of voted to re-elect this POS?

Dave Miller: "anything unfactual in what President Obama said...?"

Yes. There is. But even if there were not, contrary to what liberals believe, not everything needs to be said in every circumstance.

If it is not helpful to the cause, don't say it.

I know. That's a hard one for liberals, since they lack the sense of propriety.

Besides, we incarcerated people of Japanese descent during the War. We owed them an apology...even IF we were right in rounding them up.

We owe no nation an apology for anything, except Israel, for ignoring their plight.

DB: You got it quite right. I, for one, will not vote for Reagan in this election.

I guess that to Dave, "Love means never having to say you're sorry"

But that's only in the movies, not as an American president!
Everybody (especially radical islamists) hates a gutless coward. The original Cairo speak was shameful, ridiculous, and embarrassing to every LOYAL American.

Liberals have no trouble being loyal to thieves and thugs, but they have lots of trouble being loyal to America.

Everything the President said was absolutely true. America has been bullying the rest of the world, meddling in the internal affairs of foreign governments, overthrowing other countries and replacing their leaders with our puppets, propping up the most brutal dictators the world has known to line the pockets of the filthy rich in our own country, and we've been doing it for over 100 years. America has plenty to apologize for and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why the world hates us.

Joe said...

XO: "Everything the President said was absolutely true."

It isn't, but even if it was, it was a mistake to flaunt it in front of potential enemies and others.

The better part of valor would have been to keep his big mouth shut.

But you, being a liberal, will never understand that concept.

I guess that we'll never know unless President Romney wants to prosecute the entities responsible for this reprehensible event.
And the real sad part about all this is that the media will make sure that Obama gets away with this crime. WE deserve honest answers, but with Obama and company, there is no honesty only more lies, cover ups, and apologies.

Dave Miller said...

Crabby, more likely if we never know all the facts it will be because whoever succeeds Pres Obama will agre with a defense of Executive Priviledge... It is time honored tradition of our presidents to protect it so that their successor will protect them if necessary.

Obama did so for Bush, who did so for Clinton.

Joe, you said the statements you quoted were untrue. Which ones specifically are untrue and what about them is untrue?

And I agree that perhaps we should not air our dirty linen in public, but that is a far cry from a totally, at this point, unsubstantiated charge the Pres. Obama was on an apology tour.

Joe said...

DM: "... unsubstantiated charge the Pres. Obama was on an apology tour."

It is only unsubstantiated in your own mind.

It has been well substantiated.

It may not have been the stated purpose of the "tour" (how stupid would that have been?), but it was its result.

We are considered fools in most of Europe, almost all of the Middle East and much of the Far East because of PBO(tcp)'s dumb statements about the U.S.

The original Cairo speak was shameful, ridiculous, and embarrassing to every LOYAL American.

From Obama's speech in Cairo;

I do so recognizing that change cannot happen overnight. No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust, nor can I answer in the time that I have all the complex questions that brought us to this point. But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors...But that same principle must apply to Muslim perceptions of America. Just as Muslims do not fit a crude stereotype, America is not the crude stereotype of a self-interested empire. The United States has been one of the greatest sources of progress that the world has ever known. We were born out of revolution against an empire. We were founded upon the ideal that all are created equal, and we have shed blood and struggled for centuries to give meaning to those words – within our borders, and around the world. We are shaped by every culture, drawn from every end of the Earth, and dedicated to a simple concept: E pluribus unum: "Out of many, one."...When violent extremists operate in one stretch of mountains, people are endangered across an ocean. And when innocents in Bosnia and Darfur are slaughtered, that is a stain on our collective conscience...In Ankara, I made clear that America is not – and never will be – at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security...But let us be clear: al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 people on that day. The victims were innocent men, women and children from America and many other nations who had done nothing to harm anybody. And yet Al Qaeda chose to ruthlessly murder these people, claimed credit for the attack, and even now states their determination to kill on a massive scale...And despite the costs involved, America's commitment will not weaken. Indeed, none of us should tolerate these extremists. They have killed in many countries...So America will defend itself respectful of the sovereignty of nations and the rule of law...America's strong bonds with Israel are well known. This bond is unbreakable. It is based upon cultural and historical ties, and the recognition that the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history that cannot be denied...Palestinians must abandon violence. Resistance through violence and killing is wrong and does not succeed...It's a story with a simple truth: that violence is a dead end. It is a sign of neither courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. That is not how moral authority is claimed; that is how it is surrendered...It is easier to start wars than to end them. It is easier to blame others than to look inward; to see what is different about someone than to find the things we share. But we should choose the right path, not just the easy path. There is also one rule that lies at the heart of every religion – that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

Shameful, huh? He spoke to LOYAL Americans like you, Dude;

Some are eager to stoke the flames of division, and to stand in the way of progress. Some suggest that it isn't worth the effort – that we are fated to disagree, and civilizations are doomed to clash.

Joe, Admitting mistakes isn't weakness. Attitudes in the Muslim world towards America are as bad now as they were when Bush was Pres. Bluster and military might won't change that. The people in places we've been meddling in know what we've done. Not admitting it won't change a thing. When we send a drone that kills dozens of civilians (a stain on Obama), it doesn't convince our enemies not to mess with us, it makes them want to kill us. Romney will do the same thing, he praised the drone program.

What does Princess Condi have to say about this outrage?

RICE: But when things are unfolding very, very quickly, it’s not always easy to know what is really going on on the ground. And to my mind, the really important questions here are about how information was collected. Did the various agencies really coordinate and share intelligence in the way that we had hoped, with the reforms that were made after 9/11?

So there’s a big picture to be examined here. But we don’t have all of the pieces, and I think it’s easy to try and jump to conclusions about what might have happened here. It’s probably better to let the relevant bodies do their work.

What is that thug, Condi, covering up?

Joe said...

Craig: "What is...Condi, covering up?"

Sadly, I think she is thinking like so many in Washington D.C.

The fact is, there are protocols in place for events such as these, and those protocols were not followed.

We know the president either knew what was going on within minutes, or was not paying attention to his job as Commander in Chief.

The default protocol is for action to be taken to secure the embassy and the ambassador, unless told not to by people in very high places.

Save the ambassador first, figure out what happened later.

Instead, we have a dead ambassador the three dead military men.

Good job, Mr. President! Good job!

He said, "My first priority is keeping us safe..."

Well I have news for him. The ambassador is us! He didn't keep us safe.

And he still pretends he does not know what happened.

And you believe him.

Amazing!

Joe, I don't know why my comment posted twice, sorry.

We are considered fools in most of Europe, almost all of the Middle East and much of the Far East because of PBO(tcp)'s dumb statements about the U.S.

Attitudes toward the U.S. are generally more positive today than in 2008, the final year of the George W. Bush administration. The biggest improvements in America’s image have occurred among Europeans – in France, Spain, and Germany, the percentage of people with a positive view of the U.S. is at least 20 percentage points higher than in 2008.

Craig: 20%! WOW!

Let's use a scale of 1-10 in which 1 is the poorest possible and 10 is the best it could be. Then at anything over five we would no longer be considered fools.

If we were at 2 under Bush (for the sake of discussion) then we are now at 2.4.

Still fools.

Craig said...

If we were at 2 under Bush (for the sake of discussion) then we are now at 2.4.

Your math is off. It would be 4, not 2.4. For the sake of discussion we can look at real numbers, not your hypothetical.

From the 2012 Pew study I linked to;

Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of the U.S.?
Percent responding Favorable

Italy 74%
Japan 72%
France 69%
Poland 69%
Brazil 61%
Britain60%
Spain 58%
Mexico 56%
Czech Republic 54%
Germany52%
Russia 52%

What about Israel?

RAMAT GAN, Israel, June 15, 2012 … The Israeli public has a strongly positive attitude toward the United States and continues to perceive the U.S. as a loyal ally of Israel, according to a new poll of Israeli public opinion issued today. The poll found nearly 70 percent of Israelis have a positive attitude toward the U.S. and just as many believe that it is and will remain a loyal and unwavering ally of Israel.

Your statement is baseless.

Reminds me of Yogi Berraa's book, "I Really Didn't Say Everything I Said."

Are liberals really so stupid as to think everyone is so stupid?

Joe said...

LR: Liberals use new math. Real math would go like this.

20% of 2 = 2 X .20 = .4

20% more than 2 = 2 + .4

2 + .4 = 2.4

(20% = 1/5 of the whole. Add the 1/5 back to the whole to get a 20% increase.)

In new math it's

20% increase over 2 = 2 + 2 = 4

Which in old math would be a 100% increase.

But some things are true just because liberals say they are true, whether they are really true or not.

Joe said...

LR: Using Craig's percentages, 74% (now) (Italy) represents an increase of 20% over 62% (under Bush), a difference of 12%.

When I went to school, 74% was a low "C"; 62% was a "D."

So, assuming the figures are anywhere near correct, we went up one letter grade under PBO(tcp).

(of course, I submit that he inherited the increase, just like he inherited the "troubles," but that's a discussion for another time.)

But there is no established cause-and-effect relationship established between our ratings under either Bush or Obama.

They may have a higher approval rating, but they still see us as fools...just better fools than we used to be.

Dave Miller said...

Joe, respectfully, you posted some statements from President Obama that you said are untrue... I believe they are factual. Could you please what specifically is untrue about those statements?

Maybe it's me, but when someone says a President is lying on foreign soil, I think it is incumbent on the prison making that charge to explain.

Joe said...

DM: "Maybe it's me, but when someone says a President is lying on foreign soil, I think it is incumbent on the prison making that charge to explain."

Well, you think wrongly.

Read the Preisdent's words and compare them with the truth.

He is not the first who has lied on foreign soil, and he will not be the last. But to pretend he didn't it to revolt from reality.

Besides, I am not a prison.

Craig said...

Joe, My math was wrong, you are right. I was thinking 20% of 10 (on your 1 to 10 scale), big mistake. My 8th grade daughter is ashamed of me.

but they still see us as fools...just better fools than we used to be.

The question was 'approve or disapprove'. I haven't seen any polls on foolishness. Disapproval (foolishness?) in most Muslim countries is over 80%. You are in lock step with 80% of the Muslim world. Congratulations.

BTW, a 62% approval rating would be the envy of any president, 74% would be off the charts.

The point is, the U.S. has improved it's image in most of the world. That probably doesn't mean much to the 'screw you' crowd.

Liberals use new math. Real math would go like this.

The original Cairo speak was shameful

Conservatives use the new grammar. Real grammar would look like this, "The original Cairo speech was shameful". People make mistakes, Joe. Because Dude made one, I don't assume he is stupid, therefore all Conservatives are stupid and I don't negate everything else he says because of that mistake. That seems to be your only argument.

Still waiting to see your answer to Dave's question. Of course, it's your blog and you don't have to answer anything. Have I got that right? You have a habit of making sweeping accusations and then claiming blogxecutive privilege.

Joe said...

Craig: "...then claiming blogxecutive privilege."

Actually, I like that term. Thanks.

(It might be better called blogoexecutive privilege for purposes of syntax [I'll bet you didn't even know they taxed syn]).
