TO DRILL OR NOT TO DRILL. THAT IS THE QUESTION

President BO (the child president) just unashamedly defies logic.

Speaking to students at the University of Miami, Florida, a so-called swing state, where gas averages $3.69 a gallon, Mr. Obama said: "Just like last year, gas prices are climbing across the country; this time, it’s happening even earlier. And when gas prices go up, it hurts everybody."

President BO (the child president) ridiculed his opponents for recycling a "three-point plan for $2 gas. Step one is to drill, and step two is to drill, and then step three is to keep drilling,"

So, where to YOU think the gasoline for your car comes from?

Do YOU think it comes from the fuel fairy?

Have I got news for you.

Gasoline for your car comes from the refining of oil which comes from underground.

To get at the oil underground, you have to drill down to it and then pump it up from the ground (The other method is to "frack" it...which is also a good idea).

I'll bet President BO (the child president) knows that.

If he does know that, then why on earth does he continue to defy the laws of supply and demand by resisting new drilling and refining in the United States of America?

Why does he continue to support the drilling by other countries, such as Brazil and Mexico (to the tune of billions of dollars, by the way), but not in the U. S. ?

Why this bent on continuing our dependence on foreign oil when we have such vast reserves in our own county?

"Well, we export a lot of oil, yadda, yadda, yadda." say the liberals.

That has nothing to do with anything.

We need to increase the supply of oil, which is currently being decreased artificially by those very nations where we are supporting drilling, and we need to increase the number and output of our refineries.

That will dramatically bring the price of oil down, while providing thousands of well paying jobs right here in our country.

Oh, I forgot. The creation of jobs is a campaign slogan, not an actual desire of this administration.

It turns out that "...drill, drill, drill..." is EXACTLY what we need to do, and I don't care whether it is being expoused by a Republican or a Democrat. It is the ONLY answer to lowering gas prices and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.

The truth is, President BO (the child president) is so intent on so-called "green" energy (which has always resulted in negative net income), that he is willing to sacrifice the needs of the country to force it into existance.

Never mind that it just does not work. That's not important. What's important is that we pretend that it does work, so that we can increase our dependency on the federal government.

And that's the bottom political line for President BO (the child president).

His answer is much worse than the Republicans' answer of "drill, drill, drill." His answer is POWER, POWER POWER.

Power for him, his cronies and his minions.

Joe - Good Post (fuel fairy - that is Really rich)

The thing about Drilling is that it disturbs the Wildlife - and we should avoid that at all costs.

We need to make President Obama (the Really Cool Guy Prez) aware of our feelings about Drilling - so that he can make the Right and Wise Choices in his second term.

Of course we need oil - but should we go to War to get it - not.

Let's talk about 'getting it' right here on The Hottest Blog and come up with a Solution that not only suits the American Citizens - but a Solution That Is Environment Friendly.

Thanks Joe.

joe, they have ruined everything they have touched since coming into POWER. The Economy,,,JObs are a mess....I recently went down the coast of Maine where factories were very plentiful...They are all closed. Where is out labor market....unemployed....I remember when this was happening and all the squawking about The Italians making all the shoes and shipping them into this country causing all of ours to close....The Union takeover of the auto industry and the steel industry....causing many companies. then the EPA gained political power...Now government has a hand in everything in this country...We need to get back the the local level and close some of these agencies not covered by the constitution. It use to make me angry inside to have some one on welfare say it is their right????as all our other rights were slowly, slowly removed from the books and making it unlawful to do certain thing that heretofore, would have been thought ridiculous. I'm rambling again...Sorry...Great post.....

Why should we worry about the cost of gas when Obama spends $181,757 per hour on Air Force One!
And lest not forget they they never fly just one.
And you complain about the price of gas

DD2 aka Debonair Dude: And let's also not forget the parade of limos he rides around in...gas guzzlers all.

But why should he care? He doesn't have to pay for the gas...we do.

tapline: Nice to have you stop by!

The jobless rate now stands at 17.5%, when you count those who have failed to find jobs and don't know were else to look and are thus no longer looking.

But the gov't won't count them.

To the gov't, they are as good as hired.

At ALL costs...really?

You're smart enough to know better than that, aren't you.

Maybe not.

sue hanes said...

Joe - Ok.

Maybe not at all costs.

After all - as Humans we need Oil.

And Humans come before Animals - but Animals are important too.

Everything in its Rightful Place - Joe.

So we should do what we have to about Drilling For Oil - protect Animal Rights when we can.

After all - Joe:

Animals Are People Too.

I haven't noticed it. I usually take the subway.

However I'm trying to figure out why we are exporting so much refined product. Oil pricing can be counter intuitive so be careful.

Joe - Not entirely offtopic - but I simply adore the word 'minion' - but not Really knowing what it meant I googled it - which led to the Really cool word 'sycophant' - and well - Joe I CERTAINLY am not one of THOSE.

But do have a nice evening Joe andn I'm sure that a great, Really smart person like you - with a Great Really Cool Blog - has better things to do on a Friday evening than Blog - like me a loser.

Good Day - Joe - and I do so look forward to the Best Ever Sunday Faith Video - and I'm talkin' about YOURS - of course.

Joe.

My best to Bonnie.

If the prices are threatening a slow down why would the oil companies want them lower?

Joe must think oil produced here, stays here.

U.S. oil production has increased 20% over the last 5 years and consumption has decreased by 2 million barrels a day. It has had no effect on world oil prices. Oil prices in the U.S. are set by the world price.

Ducky's right, ExxonMobil, BP and Royal Dutch Shell have no interest in you paying $2.50 a gallon. Futures speculation and geopolitics drive the price and if gas sells at $4.00 a gallon, there's no downward pressure.

If the price were to go below $70 a barrel it would dry up U.S. production. The higher cost of extraction from, say, Bakken shale would no longer be profitable.

The only way increased U.S. production would lower gas prices is to keep the oil off the world market. The only way to do that is to nationalize U.S. production. You want to do that, Joe?

Ducky's here said...

Joe, why wouldn't the majors just export what is drilled and try to keep the price artificially high here?

If the prices aren't threatening a slow down why would the oil companies want them lower?

Ducky's here said...

Joe, how about nationalizing?

It looks like Mr. Market may not be your friend.

Why not make coal oil??? Its cheap and requires a little more tweeking to be acceptable. to be used in cars...The Germans did it in the last big war so why not go that way...add a little water to coal and I think, boil it...or something like that....stay well...

sue hanes: "Animals Are People Too."

Yeah. Animals like roaches, rattle snakes, black widow spiders, the black mamba, the snail darter, the flesh eating bacteria, mosquitos that carry malaria, ticks that carry lymes disease, rats and others.

Gotta protect them all.

Ducky: "Joe, why wouldn't the majors just export what is drilled and try to keep the price artificially high here?"

One word: competition.

Another word: Lack of a cartel.

One more: The American people are basically good and wouldn't stand for it (ecept for liberals, of course...they'd stand for it. They'd even encourage it).

Hello, President Obama. My name is Alexander Graham Bell and I have just invented an incredible means of communication that will allow people to talk to each other over immense distances. It is called the telephone. All we have to do is string copper wires to every home and business in the country. And if we want to talk to people in Europe, we just have to lay a cable across the ocean floor and string wires to every home and business in Europe. What do you think?

WHAT??? It's a total waste of copper resources! It will harm the environment! It's MUCH to big a job! That's CRAZY!

Had Obama been president in 1877, we would still be communicating with smoke signals.

Ducky's here said...

Joe, why isn't competition dropping the price of gas now?

Animals are NOT people and have no rights. Rights are bestowed upon people by God first, and governments second. Animals are to be properly treated by good stewards of creation, but they have no intrinsic rights.

I read where the USA actually exports more oil than we import. My question is if we have so much oil that we export it, why no keep it here and quit importing!

Maybe you are starting to get it. The U.S. govt. leases public lands, and offshore areas, to the oil co.s. The oil isn't "ours", it belongs to the oil co.s. It is sold on the world market. That's free enterprise, baby. If you want all the oil here to stay here, the govt. would have to get into the oil business, then it would be our oil. Like I asked Joe, do you want a nationalized oil co.?

We can open up every square foot of possible oil reserves in the U.S. and it won't effect the price you pay for gas one damn nickel.

Craig said...

Had Obama been president in 1877, we would still be communicating with smoke signals.

Your analogy makes no sense. If today's Repubs were in charge in 1877. we'd still be communicating by telegraph instead of fiber optics and satellites. Joe said it in his post;

The truth is, President BO (the child president) is so intent on so-called "green" energy...Never mind that it just does not work.

Never mind that it does work. Germany gets about 20% of it's energy from renewables and is on course to double that in 10 years.

New technologies suck. If they aren't immediately perfected and can totally replace fossil fuels, it's not worth the investment, right? Doubling down on 150 year old technology is where it's at cuz internal combustion and coal fired power are the wave of the future.

Joe said...

Craig: "If they aren't immediately perfected and can totally replace fossil fuels, it's not worth the investment, right?"

That's right, considering that the investiment is monumental and the return will be pedantic, if there is any real ROI at all.

We need a maxi-gigantic advance in battery technology before ANY "renewable" energy source such as wind, solar or any other kind is remotely viable a carbon fuel replacement.

I'm all for it, but the cost is just too great for today's economics.

We need a clean burning, abundant resource...perhaps the most abundant resource in the universe...to have a viable replacement for carbon based fuel.

I'd recommend spending the money we now waste on wind and solar on hydorgen technology.

Aircraft, automoblies, boats and trains could be easily modified to use hydrogen exclusively, and extraction methods' costs will drop dramatically when we start putting the emphasis on what makes sense.

(Imagine a battery powered jet [oxymoron...I know] with today's technology...laughable at best.)
