EVER HEARD OF THE WFP?

One of my regular commenters wrote the following:

"Joe, politicians have been bandying about the unemployment number an the jobs created number for some time. They are often deceptive.

"Better to use the workforce participation percentage. It's readily available at the Labor Dept. site."

Yes, it is.

Most people have never heard of the Workforce Participation Percentage, mostly because it is embarrassing to the MainStream Media and liberals.

Common comparisons occasionally include the number of Americans who stopped looking for work.

In their January jobs report, the Labor Department simply erased these Americans from the figures.

If we add them in, the real unemployment number at the end of January of 2012 was 9.9% (CBO figures, by the way)!

In January of 2009, 11.6 million Americans were out of work.

In January of 2012, that number is 12.8 million.

When President BO (the child president) took office, 23% of unemployed had been looking for work more than six months.

In January of 2012, that percentage was 43%.

But since statistics can be manipulated and interpreted in many different ways, lets look at the aforementioned Workforce Participation Percentage, because that number is very difficult to mess with. It looks at ALL Americans as a percentage of them who had jobs.

In the 1990s, 66% of all Americans had a job.

At the end of George W. Bush's presidency the percentage was 65%.

Since President BO (the child president) took office, the number has steadily dropped to 63.7%.

That's the lowest percentage since Jimmy Carter.

So I ask you: What is the truth about jobs in this economy?

One thing is indisputable. The job scene is NOT better than it was at the end of Bush's presidency when President BO (the child president) took office.

His three years are up, and he has NOT decreased unemployment or increased employment.

And he knows it.

Do you?

Shoprat: I thought it pretty revealing.

I totally agree, it is very revealing.
And Obama/s reported numbers on the jobless rate is also as phony as a 3 dollar bill.

As a card-carrying member of the '1%' I direct you to the following facts:

Dow Jones Industrials Average when President George W. Bush took power; 10,600 +/-
Dow Jones Industrials Average when President George W. Bush left power; 8,100 +/-
Dow Jones Industrials Average as of last Friday; 12,860 +/-

President Bush cost us in the '1%' 2,500 +/- points.
President Obama made us in the '1%' 4,700 +/- points.

Now THIS is truly revealing Joe!
Well, revealing if, and only if, one confuses correlation with causation which Yankee Libruls are always wont to do.

Of course you beg the question of just what an administration can do to manage the business cycle especially after deregulation has ceded so much control.

Complain about Obama all you like but the problem remains. The fringe right insane suggestion is Herman Cain. Or Governor Olympics. Absolutely unclear on the problem.

Joe - This is another Solid Well-written Post.

Indeed I had never heard of the Workforce Participation Percentage - until just now.

And you are right - it is Embarrassing.

President Obama needs to step up and do something about the Issue Of Jobs In Our Country.

He Knows it.

You Know it.

And I know you know.

Joe - I'm sorry that the Dolphins didn't even make the Scoreboard.

Maybe next year.

Are you saying that President Obama is the 'problem' which remains?

Shame on you.

Dearest Ducky's here,

The Lady doth protest too much, methinks.
Since I have used the female appellative ‘Lady’ in Direct Address you may assume it was meant pejoratively.
Do you realise that the word ‘Duck’ is a noun representing only the female gender of membersa of the Anatidae family of birds – the male being known as a ‘Drake’?
Since ‘Ducky’ is meant to be a diminutive term of endearment perhaps ‘Drakelet’, with the addition of the diminutive suffix: -let, will suffice for you?

Is not 'dim bulb' two words? According to that Librul Webster it is.

Joe, as you accuse the left of spinning the unemployment numbers what to you make of Krugman and his columns on the job market?

Or is he acceptable to conservatives now?

Krugman wrote 'The Conscious of a Liberal'. In which he argues they have none - you know, the part of the mind comprising psychic material of which a Liberal individual is aware.

Come on peddle your freshwater economics to Joe not to a leftist.

Any way Krugman's largest error is believing in self corrective markets. Maybe why Keynesians and Austrian school are both having troubles.

Hey Jo Joe - Want a real chuckle? Apparently the network in my office has decided to start blocking access to your blog.

The filtering application they use has designated your blog as a site with inappropriate sexual content.

And yet, I can still access my own blog from the office.

I believe the phrase the kids these days use is, WTF?

XO: "The filtering application they use has designated your blog as a site with inappropriate sexual content."

Yeah...I'm a sexy guy.

On the upside Joe, folks who wish to view your blog do not have to jump the hurdle of a Google 'Content Warning' page like they must if they wish to view mine.

If you can get enough people to complain about your blog by 'clicking' the 'Report Abuse' button at the top of your page, Google will install one for you too.
I wear mine as a badge of honour!

Dearest Bojangles Drakelet's here,

Mr. Krugman wrote 'The Conscience of a Liberal'.
It seems my clever use of a near-homophonic pseudo-malapropism(1) has escaped your notice - even with the clue given in my ultimate sentence.
You do not appear to be that thick, perhaps you are just not trying hard enough? 'Cause, you know, I hate wasting my cleverness on dullards.

My economics are briny, even brackish, and Joe is as much a leftist as you are - by my reckoning at least.

(1) I say 'pseudo-malapropism because the two words, 'conscious' and 'conscience' both work, grammatically, in the title. But the meanings are quite different.

The Questionman said,

"....The GOP and its minions are driven by hatred and cynicism....."

Well there's also an insatiate drive to consume Krispy Kreme donuts, 4% beer and pizza too, but I don't see you Libruls harping on about that!

"....It is amazing how we as Americans have amnesia....."

How do you know you as Americans have amnesia? How do you know you have amnesia if you have amnesia?

".....The last straw was the governor of Arizona pointing her finger in the president’s face to completely disrespect and undermine his job!...."

As much as I disdain being serious about most things, I must agree with you on this one - that was unconscionable and vulgar. I reckon it was on account of her poor upbringin' - her being a shrill Caucasoid harridan and all.
