REID VOMITS UP THE LIBERAL LIE

He was pushing for his 1.9% surtax on the wealthy when Harry Reid said this:

"Millionaire job creators are like unicorns. They’re impossible to find, and they don’t exist…Only a tiny fraction of people making more than a million dollars, probably less than 1 percent, are small business owners. And only a tiny fraction of that tiny fraction are traditional job creators…Most of these businesses are hedge fund managers or wealthy lawyers. They don’t do much hiring and they don’t need tax breaks."

(From Reid's December 12th speech)

A little shaky on the facts, but who cares? He is a liberal and if a liberal says it, it is true, just because the liberal said it, whether it is factual or not.

Fact: According to IRS’s Table 1.4 ‘Sources of income, adjustments, and tax size of adjusted gross income, 2009,’ there are 236,883 tax filers with incomes of a million dollars or more.

Using Reid's accounting, only 118 rich people create jobs.

There are exactly 0 unicorns in the world, so right off the bat Reid is wrong.

Nevertheless, there are 236,765 millionaires who collectively earn about a quarter trillion dollars.

According to Reid, only about 118 of them ever hire anybody.

They manage to do this without hiring anyone. These millionaires do their own typing, selling, drafting. public relations, building, and manufacturing. Not one of them needs employees!

Not only that, but they got to be millionaires by "winning life's lottery!"

Hard work, risk taking, paying others to sell their products, etc., had nothing to do with it...right?

They are simply leeches on society, draining us of our ability to give OWSers what they think they are entitled to.

Mr. Reid (and your liberal cohorts), let me inform you, if only from pure linear logic, that is impossible!

They could not have become millionaires in a vacuum. They became millionaires by earning their way, and by paying others to help them get there.

The truth is the opposite of what Reid said. Only about 118 of them did NOT earn their way there.

It seems that truth from a liberal is like a unicorn. It does not exist.

Very well said, Joe...that's what I thought the minute I heard Reid's ridiculous lie. But, as you say, people think the liberals know what they're talking about and it's so easy to hate the rich and he's playing to that.

Where does the far left think the money's going to come from once the RICH are broken? I also read that if all the rich gave all their money, America'd barely benefit and only for a short time. But, facts confound the Left.

This outrageous spending has to stop and stop fast. These people spend money as it it's Monopoly money.
At the rate they are going we will be down-graded again by the end of next year.

Just ask job creators like Paris Hilton.

Ducky's here said...

There is a widening wealth gap in America and the size of the discrepancy is growing.

Most on the left believe there is a point where that discrepancy becomes so large that it threatens the health of the society.

Reid (D - Milquetoast) and Boner (R - Tanning bed) are just playing good cop/bad cop and debating trivia. The suckers love it and pick sides assuming there is an action in the current political arena that will reverse the trend.

"Small government", the suckers haven't figured out that means stripping what little wealth the working class still controls and transferring it up, really stepping on the wealth transfer gas pedal and the suckers will never get wise till it's too late.

Money for what, z? Currently the money is going into asset bubbles not any kind of productive economic activity.
I maintain that the ease with which bubbles are currently created does indeed indicate the wealthy have excess capital (i.e. capital which is spent at the casino, not on long term maintainable growth).

Would Fredd like to rebut?

Without you exposing this Liberal Liar - Harry Reid - he will just continue to puke up those lies.

We owe you Joe.

Boy! The Millionaire as Noble, Patriotic Altruist who only wants to create jobs for the masses.

Poppycock!

Most millionaires create nothing and produce nothing. They simply move large piles of money around in order to generate more money.

Look at one of the richest men in America. Warren Buffet. He doesn't create jobs, he doesn't make anything or sell anything. He just moves money around. The only jobs he created were jobs for bean counters at Berkshire Hathaway.

But to his credit, Warren Buffet recognizes that having that much wealth concentrated in one place is counter productive to society at large so he is rapidly redistributing his own wealth. He can't give it away fast enough.

He also believes that people in his position should be taxed more for the greater good!

But let's scale things down to the proverbial "small business" owner.

The small business owner is not in the job creating business either! The small business owner doesn't want to create any jobs at all. Salaries paid out dip directly into the owner's profits.

No small business owner has ever willingly or enthusiastically created a job. They do so only begrudgingly and under great duress.

When forced to create a job, they do so at the lowest possible wage and with few if any benefits.

As soon as they can gain some efficiancy or the situation changes, they will drop that job and that employee like a hot potato so they can stick that money back in their own pocket!

Enough of this nonsense about how there is this large cadre of millionaire small business owners just chomping at the bit to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs if the politicians would just get out of their way!

That's a steaming load of crap.

Rebuttal, Joe?

Bueller, Bueller?

Joe said...

Ducky: Sorry not to answer sooner. I was at my job...salary paid by a rich corporation.

Joe said...

XO: "Most millionaires create nothing and produce nothing."

Most? You've counted?

That's a bald faced lie and is not supported by any facts anywhere.

Did you bother to read the IRS link?

Didn't think so.

Xavier Onassis said...

Jo Joe - Yeah, I read the IRS link. Nowhere does it indicate that any of these rich leeches created any jobs for anybody.

Ducky's here said...

Millionaires exist, therefore they shouldn't be taxed.

The logic is impeccable, XO, if you can just get into the fringe right mindset.

Joe said...

Ducko: Nobody said they shouldn't be taxed. Everybody should be taxed. Only at a fair rate...which means the same percentage of their income.

That would be "their fair share."

Everything else (progresive taxation) is unfair.

I'm so tired of the Democrats' double standard. A liberal recently created a violent video game targeting "Zombie" conservatives such as Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Mike Huckabee and there was no apology from Democrats or outrage from Obama. Democrats constantly spew hate and lies towards conservatives, viciously attacking the Tea Party. After the shooting of Gabriel Giffords, Obama The Hypocrite demanded that the rhetoric be toned down, but liberals continue their hate. Now they're accusing Herman Cain of sexual misconduct, but how interesting that they refuse to identify Cain's accusers or divulge the details. More liberal lies.
The Demo-Nazis are so thin skinned that they see all criticism as hate speech or racist!

Xavier Onassis said...

Seamus - Liberals didn't accuse Cain of misconduct. The women he sexually harassed accused him of misconduct. One of the women was Giner White, the other was Sharon Bialek. There was a third who wished to remain anonymous. The details are all over the internet.

Those aren't liberal lies. They are statements of fact directly from the women themselves.

If you want to talk about lies, how about Newt? His claim that it was his 1st wife who wanted the divorce, that Fanny and Freddy hired him as a "historian", that he never lobbied members of congress are ALL lies.

Grandma ZaZa said...

Xavier Onassis you are such a BS artist, meaning a spin-master. Look into thy own party to find the liars you speak about. For example Barack Obama, John Edwards, Nancy Pelosi,Barack Obama,Ted Kennedy,Barack Obama. John Kerry, Bill Clinton,Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama!

Any questions?

Xavier Onassis said...

Grandma ZaZa - Yes. What specific lies are you referring to? Let's stick with Obama. The rest of those people are either not running in 2012 or they are dead and irrelevant.

What specific lies has Obama told?

Grandma ZaZa said...

irrelevant?

Why is it only irrelevant when it applies to YOUR argument?

Xavier Onassis said...

Grandma ZaZa - As I said...because they are either dead or not running for President in 2012.

So I ask again, what specific lies did Obama tell? You mentioned him 5 times so I assume you can come up with 5 specific lies that Obama told.

Just as a refresher for you, the definition of a lie is:

1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
2. Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

Go!

I'll tell you why! Under Obama and his administration, we have the stimulus, which wasted billions, a health care bill that was shoved down our throats by Obama and Pelosi, which caused higher unemployment, and both caused the national debt to skyrocket.
The country is in the toilet and the democrats keep up the lies making it worse.
That's why these idiots are still in the Senate - because the lib-Dems continue to vote for them because they don't have the mental capability to pay attention or even understand that they are continue giving us fake numbers about the economy.
And they keep telling us everything that we want to hear.
How about you use your ears and listen up rather than listening to democrat scums.
This next election won't come soon enough!

Xavier Onassis said...

Mind Made Up - Educate us. What numbers about the economy are "fake" and what do you consider the "true" numbers to be and what are your sources for both?

Looking forward to specifics.

To start with the recovery numbers that obama keeps lying about are fake. The Unemployment numbers are fake, nation wide it's closer to 10 percent, and as high a 15 percent in many states. .

Xavier Onassis said...

Mind Made Up - The Bureau of Labor Statistics (http://www.bls.gov/cps/) says the November unemployment rate has fallen to 8.6%. I cited my source. What is your source to back up your 10% claim?

And you didn't cite any recovery numbers or sources, you just made a blanket statement. Can you be more precise? Specifically which recover numbers are "fake" and "lies" and what sources can you cite to back up your assertions?

Please educate us.

Xavier Onassis said...

Mind Made Up - Also, in which specific states is the unemployment rate as high as 15%? Again, please cite your sources.

Well Joe - So I go down there to
The People's Park where the OWS folks have a couple of big tents set up - surrounded by a lot of little ones.

I go in one of the big ones - see -and say, 'Hi I'm Sue The Mad Blogger.'

They say, 'Hi Sue. Whatcha mad about?'

I say, 'I'm not mad - just crazy.'

Then I say, 'Any of you people Athiests?'

They say, 'Oh no Sue.'

Then they start doing that Tebow stuff and pointing to the sky.

I say, 'Ok. Carry on.'

and then before I leave I pass out 3 x 5 cards with the name of my blog on them - in case they have laptops in the little tents.

But I'm wondering - Joe - what are they really doin' in those little tents.

guess i'll never know for sure...

Joe said...

Z: The liberals' answer is, of course, eventually the government takes 100% of everything everybody makes and gives it out to the people in proportion to the government's perceived worth of the work the people are doing.

The government then assigns careers to people based on the government's perception of their ability, thus determining their worth.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - Absolutely not. But I do think it's time we stop coddling millionaires and treating them like they are some sort of down-trodden, persecuted minority.

Nor should we treat them like some Noble Altruist Savior of America.

American society won't collapse if we insist that those got rich from the infrastructure that American society provided pay their fair share for the upkeep and expansion of that infrastructure so that others can have the same opportunity they had.

Taxes are the price we pay for civilization. Every citizen should pay them and the richest beneficiaries of civilization should pay the highest taxes because they reaped the most benefit.

Ducky's here said...

Joe, do you seriously believe that anyone with a liberal sensibility is a Communist? That's essentially what you said. The proposition is utter nonsense but it has some acceptance with the fringe right Glenn Beck types for some reason.

Myself, I believe that when the wealth disparity becomes too large you have a less stable society, a permanent underclass and a general cynicism in the population. You have to have some level of a social democracy to function.
Right now we have The Full Ayn Rand and it is ironic that many of your readers and yourself are bearing the brunt of that disgusting system.

But it is so wired into your innate Calvinism that you cling to this nonsensical idea that a massive wealth transfer upward will improve your prospects.

It's not going to change till you wise up.

Every single corporation in this country was started by a single entrepreneur who was willing to take a chance and invest in an idea. For instance, In 2008, Ford Motor Co. employed about 213,000 employees at around 90 plants and facilities worldwide. Under today's federal regulations, Ford could never get off the ground. Envy is the most useless, contemptible, evil and destructive of all human emotions. It is even prohibited in the 10 Commandments. "Thou shalt not covet..." No wonder then that it should be the very mother's milk of progressives -- the most useless, contemptible, evil and destructive movement in the world.

Joe said...

XO: "...pay their fair share for the upkeep and expansion of that infrastructure so that others can have the same opportunity they had."

They SHOULD pay their fair share. And that would be the same percentage of their income that everybody else pays.

To tax them more because they took risk, made investments, produced something people wanted, and made a profit from doing so is patently unfair.

But liberals ensure that the process is so burdensome that only a few dare take those risks.

Thus there are fewer climbing the ladder to wealth than there could otherwise be.

Time for you to grow up, wise up and give up, or we're doomed to become a used-to-be nation.

Would it also be safe to assume there is little or any post secondary education in play here?

You don't have to answer. I know I'm right.

They are pandering to people exactly like you.
