"Christ" is the English term for the Greek Χριστός (Khristós) meaning "the anointed one". It is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ), usually transliterated Messiah.
"mas" is from the word "Mass" as in feast or celebration.
Therefore, "Christmas" is a celebration (and/or feast) of the Messiah's birth.
That's what Christmas is about. It is not about reindeer (red-nosed or not), Santa Claus, getting presents or any secular or other "inclusive" holiday.
Now we learn that the official Christmas tree at the White House has no reference to Christmas or Christ or Jesus or the Nativity.
It does, however, pay homage to President BO (the child president).
It has an ornament in his honor.
And liberals thought we were insulting him by referring to him as The One.
He is not insulted by that. He really thinks he IS The One.
I just find it interesting that a holiday (holy-day...get it?) that has its meaning right in its name is so ignored by our government.
It has not been so in the past.
But with "Hope and Change," Christmas will be changed, and when it is, all hope is gone.
Merry Christmas, everybody.
(And if you don't believe "Merry Christmas" is politically correct, then go ahead...have a lousy Christmas).

Merry Christmas, Joe.
And may we have a Obamaless year in 2013
Now we learn that the official Christmas tree at the White House
Joe, you know the "Christmas tree" is lifted from the pagan festival of Yule, don't you?
I read your linked article. There really is no limit to the pettiness or the length some Christians will go to feel persecuted.
But with "Hope and Change," Christmas will be changed, and when it is, all hope is gone.
Yeah, it was Obama that made Christmas all about crass commercialism.
Happy Winter Solstice, Joe.
Craig - Oh, it doesn't stop with the Yule log. Virtually every element of the story of Jesus was lifted from other pagan myths and legends and gods from other religions They were all amalgamated into a new story that made it easier to spread for people to adapt. Everything from the virging birth to rising from the dead after 3 days was stolen from other stories.
Joe - What's this world coming to anyway?
A Very Merry and Wonderful Christmas to you and Bonnie - Joe.
You too - Mal
The Malcontent: Thank You. You, too.
Craig: "Joe, you know the "Christmas tree" is lifted from the pagan festival of Yule, don't you?"
I knew it before you were born.
So what?
"Yeah, it was Obama that made Christmas all about crass commercialism."
Who said anything about that?
What is WRONG with you, anyway?
XO: Your opinion (imitation and distorted facts) don't count on this topic. You are exceedingly unqualified to speak on this subject.
sue hanes: Merry Christmas!

As usual, liberals missed the point of this post.
The problem is, liberals do not know how to read. The lack the ability to recognize subjects, let alone stick to them.
The point had NOTHING to do with the tree, or the Yule log, or virgin births, or rising from the dead.
But neither Craig nor XO had the ability to understand that, so they went off on their own personal tangents, intent on disparaging Christmas.
The point of the post, as all conservatives recognized, was President BO (the child president)'s exaltation of himself to the exclusion of the real meaning of Christmas.
Frankly, I don't care one whit whether or not Craig and/or XO believe one single thing about Christmas. They CANNOT deny the meaning of the word, which describes what Christmas is about...and it is NOT about Obama.
thanks joe

I get it, Joe. One ornament sent by a young child in California that says, I (heart) Pres. Obama, is hung on a tree that Obama had nothing to do with decorating is proof he has a Messiah complex. That and he is insufficiently Christian.
The problem is, liberals do not know how to read.
I actually read the article you linked to and based your post on. Apparently, you didn't or couldn't read it. You said, "Now we learn that the official Christmas tree at the White House"...
This is the headline from your article, U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Pays Homage to Obama—But Not Jesus.
Who can't read? Yeah, Joe, I got your point. The sleuth reporter from CNS "investigated" the Capitol grounds tree, found one Obama ornament and that's enough for you to conclude that Obama sees himself as "The One". The articles main point is the lack of "reference to Christmas or Christ or Jesus or the Nativity." Your beef is with Congress, not the Pres.
Who said anything about that?
You did.
But with "Hope and Change," Christmas will be changed, and when it is, all hope is gone.
The "True Meaning" of Christmas lost to merchandising a long time ago. Last Sunday night, we were driving home from an outer ring suburb of Mpls. It's predominantly God Fearin' Republicans who live out there. Judging by the gaudy light displays, they measure their devotion to the Baby Jesus in kw/hrs.
I'm an atheist, Joe, but I celebrate Christmas. I like giving gifts and I subscribe to the "peace on Earth, goodwill towards men (and some women)" thing. If you want to use the occasion to launch small minded, petty and inaccurate personal attacks or declare a silly War on Christmas, knock yourself out. It makes you look nuts, not Christian.
Craig: You went off on your own tangent.
Tempest in a teapot, Joe. One ornament on a very large tree?
Come on, enjoy Christmas and give it a rest.
