DUNCER THAN MORTIMER SNERD

President BO (the child president) is so inept, so brain-dead, so amateurish that he can't even get the holidays right.

As our friend over at The Malcontent says, "It Seems As If Muslims Just Don't Understand How To Do Jewish Holidays Right!"

President BO (the child president) decided to show how supportive he is of Israel (despite all of his actions to the contrary) by "celebrating" the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

Only he did it two weeks early (it starts on December 20).

And he did it wrong, by lighting all of the candles on the Menorah at once, instead of one each day as the festival dictates.

He also misconstrued the basic significance of the celebration by proclaiming in some kind of misguided, but meaningful sounding phrase that the Hanukkah story was about "right over might, faith over doubt."

Interested in knowing what it's really all about? Check here.

But how would a follower of Jeremiah Wright know any better?

Joe - In a sense - a lot of what you say about President Obama is not far off.

One of the Prime criicisms of him amounts to this:

He is a lightweight.

and he is not aggressive enough.

But I maintain that he is not a 'bad' person.

But rather he is too easily maniputlated by the bad Democrats -

and Others.

Wow, you cannot make this sh** up.
I guess this is what happens when you have a Jew hater like Hillary Clinton as your party planner for a Muslim's party.

I guess that he wanted to get it over with fast, so that he could go on vacation!! LMAO!
But then again, like you said, Muslims don't do Jewish holidays very well.
If you light the Menorah early and all at once, then it ceases to be a religious symbol, and is nothing more than a candelabra,
This is pandering in it's most blatant form. Zippy is throwing the Jews a bone in the hope of not losing too many votes because of his complete and utter back stabbing of Israel. How American Jews can support him is beyond me, yet many of them do. From leaving the Prime Minister of Israel standing while he goes off to dinner to treacherously abandoning them at the UN and withdrawing American support for Israel in the face of increasing Muslim aggression. Get with it my Jewish friends, at heart Zippy is a Muslim.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the president of the United States, Barack Obama," Netanyahu said. "I asked for his help. This was a decisive and fateful moment. He said, 'I will do everything I can.' And so he did. He used every considerable means and influence of the United States to help us. We owe him a special measure of gratitude."

12/1/2011 Jerusalem Post. A poll of Jewish Israelis gives Obama a 54% approval rating.

Only he did it two weeks early (it starts on December 20).

JPost

Obama is scheduled to be on vacation in Hawaii on December 20 when Hannukah begins, prompting the early White House celebration. "We’re jumping the gun just a little bit. The way I see it, we’re just extending the holiday spirit. We're stretching it out. But we do have to be careful that your kids don’t start thinking Hanukka lasts 20 nights instead of eight. That will cause some problems," Obama jested.

He also misconstrued the basic significance of the celebration

"It’s a timeless story. And for 2,000 years, it has given hope to Jews everywhere who are struggling. And today, it reminds us that miracles come in all shapes and sizes. Because to most people, the miracle of Hanukka would have looked like nothing more than a simple flame, but the believers in the temple knew it was something else. They knew it was something special," Obama said.

And he did it wrong, by lighting all of the candles on the Menorah at once, instead of one each day as the festival dictates.

This is the wikipedia page on White House Hanukkah parties. Scroll down and you'll see G.H.W. Bush in front of a fully lit Menorah and G.W. lighting all the candles.

Joe, The dozens of Rabbis and Jewish leaders in attendance didn't take issue with any of this. Rush, Drudge and Fox manufacture phony outrage and you guys dutifully take the bait. Pathetic.

That Sir is BS. This has been an outrageous insult to Judaism. Do a bit of searching in Google.

Obama’s little speech that you inserted in your post was not at all cute. He may want you to think that he is thinks he is caring and that he may mean well, but it is patronizing at best to take a religious artifact like a CHANUKAH, light all its candles ad use as decoration for a party.
One wonders, after this disciple of the Rev. J. Wright and a close associate of Min. L. Farakhan has taken upon himself the opportunity to insult the Jewish people, again, by changing the date of Hanukkah, has he even said anything of meaning regarding Jewish heritage as it is related to the commemoration, to the people and the country in which events took place? And if so, what? Or, rather, as a disciple for more than 20 years of the pastor under whom he set, he couldn't bring himself to say a single positive word about the relationship of the Jewish people to its homeland of 4,000 years, and to its capital city of Jerusalem/Zion of more than 3,000 years at the center of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel), and about the fact that beit ha-miqdash (the sanctified house) at the top of mount Moriah, now occupied by the Muslim al-Aqsa mosque?

Craig: I actually first learned about it at tne AP link I provided. Then I read some other references to it, including The Malcontent.

The real issue here is the suspicious timing: 20 days early (so they don't have candles where he's going?); after having snubbed and insulted the Israeli PM (a lame attempt to make amends?); the on-going election cycle (make the people think he supports Israel?) and the pitiful ceremony.

And I am sick and tired of the idea that because someone else also blew it, it's all OK.

What a major cop-out!

Besides, Bush was never my hero to begin with, and I disagreed with as much of what he did as I agreed with.

This guy's whole persona is amateurish and reeks of inexperience.

His flubs (of which there are many dozens) are almost NEVER reported on by MSM. All of Bush's, Perry's, etc. are treated like major news events.

And your once again finger pointing at Bush doesn't change anything.

Also including Sushi Rolls on the menu was a bit out of line, for a jewish Holiday party.

I totally agree with what Anonymous said... and lets say that he did do this because he was going on vacation at the time of the Holiday, (which he wasn't) but if so, what is the DUMB excuse for lighting ALL of the candles at the same time?
Hanukkah also spelled Chanukah, is also known as the "Festival of Lights" the holiday lasts for eight days .
Even a Non-Jew, like I am knows the meaning and traditions of Hanukkah. And if you didn't, it's very easy to find out. And I'm SURE that some of the people Obama had at his "party" were Jewish and told him. Especially the as YOU said "The dozens of Rabbis and Jewish leaders in attendance" But it's obvious that he didn't care.
The whole idea is to light one on the first night of Hanukkah and another ONE on all other nights during the holiday. This is to reference to the miracle of the oil.

Joe, talking with liberals is very perplexing.
As an artist I have many types as friends, some hippies, some homosexuals and many of them are liberal whoever they are, I usually get along with everyone of them. but lately I have been deleting liberal and I am getting sick and tired of the one sided, never listen t your view attitude! Why am I saying all this? Because they remind me of the 2 wackadoos they you have here on a regular basis. Why is it they are the first to start the name calling and insults? And no matter what you say, they disagree. But they never can just disagree and go on with it?! no! you either conform to their view or you are a racist hate filled butthole! You dare not question these people, but they question everyone that they disagree with. These are deluded people!

PS... Obama is killing the American dream and way of life! WAKE UP!

You would if you were observing Hanukkah, if you're Jewish. Apparently, the tradition at the White House party is to light all the candles like both Bush's and Clinton did. The Menorah used in White House Hanukkah ceremony comes from a synagogue that was damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Rabbi from that synagogue was there,

Rabbi Uri Topolosky of Congregation Beth Israel said that he felt especially blessed to be present at the White House celebration because of the fact that the restored menorah was used during the candle lighting ceremony.

And I'm SURE that some of the people Obama had at his "party" were Jewish and told him. Especially the as YOU said "The dozens of Rabbis and Jewish leaders in attendance" But it's obvious that he didn't care.

You're SURE, huh? There were 550 guests. Mostly Jewish. There were Jewish members of Congress, the Israeli ambassador, members of AIPAC and NJDC. They were all invited knowing the party was early and they weren't too offended to come. But, you're SURE they were. Typical deranged, emotional reaction to anything Obama does.

Also including Sushi Rolls on the menu was a bit out of line, for a jewish Holiday party.

the food (including Sushi Rolls, Caramelized Pearl Onions, Shitake Mushrooms, Pine Nut Herb Crusted Lamb Chops and Homemade Sufganyot) was kosher under “strict rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Lubavitch Center of Washington

Hanukkah is one of the less important Jewish holidays. Christmas, on the other hand, is one of the two most sacred holidays for Christians. The birth of your Lord and Savior. If any of you go to a Christmas party that's not on the 25th of Dec., it's a slap in the face to all Christians. When Xmas decorations go up before Halloween, same.

None of you better go to the office Xmas party a week before a week before Xmas and don't get blotto and photocopy your butt. It's not funny.

Happy Holidays, all.

Amanda Galbraith said...

Craig your delusional explanation was a bit insulting. I don't think that Sushi Rolls, Caramelized Pearl Onions, Shitake Mushrooms, Pine Nut Herb Crusted Lamb Chops should be served at a Jewish celebration in any case.

To me as a Jewish person, I found it to be obnoxious.

Hanukkah is NOT one of the less important Jewish holidays, it may be true that it is a festive holiday rather than a religious one, but all the same, it is a Jewish Holiday, and should be observed in a traditional manor.

During the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah, families invite relatives and friends over to light the menorah, (one candle at a time, mind you) they sing songs, the children play spin the dreidel, they exchange gifts and they serve and enjoy TRADITIONAL HANUKKAH food, such as Fried Potato Pancakes, called Latkes, Brisket, Walnut or Cinnamon Rugelach with raisins, Artichokes, etc. But never, ever Mayonnaise and Taramasalata. Sushi Rolls, Caramelized Pearl Onions, Shitake Mushrooms, I don’t care if it under “strict rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Lubavitch Center of Washington or not.
Believe me, I know just as much or maybe even more then they do. Or should I say then they care. .

Judaism 101

Chanukkah is not a very important religious holiday. The holiday's religious significance is far less than that of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavu'ot. It is roughly equivalent to Purim in significance, and you won't find many non-Jews who have even heard of Purim! Chanukkah is not mentioned in Jewish scripture; the story is related in the book of Maccabees, which Jews do not accept as scripture.

To me as a Jewish person, I found it to be obnoxious.

Fine, be offended. I guess there's a war on Hanukkah, too. The Black Liberation Theology Christian Muslim in the White House has really done it now.

As far as I am concerned ANYBODY but Obama. We tried the hope changy thing and it failed badly. Lets go back to someone who knows how Washington really works and start from there. At the very least Newt won’t be out golfing every day .
Would Michelle foot the bill for me taking a couple days to travel to the Grand Canyon? Naaah.

Well it was important enough for the "ONE" to throw a shin-dig over wasn't it.

Hey Smart-Ass, would the Great ONE ever think of holding his Ramadanadingdong Muslim party two weeks early?

Naaah, Screwy Louie Farrakhan wouldn't like that..

I'd be much happier if we had a President who didn't pander to ANY religions.

Keep that mythological supersticious crap out of the White House and out of government.

Bowing down to supernatural Sky Daddys won't create any jobs.

And while we're t it, let's keep it out of the End Zone too. If Jesus ever existed (he didn't) and if he is looking down on us from Heaven (there isn't one and he isn't), he doesn't care who wins your stupid football game.

Stop taking a knee and pointing to the sky like a moron.

XO: For the sake of argument, let's say you're right and there is no God, no Heaven, no Hell and no whatever else you hate about Christians.

What possible harm are you suffering when anybody, football player or not, takes a knee and points to the sky?

You, who are so intolerant of the intolerance of homosexuality, pornography, vulgar language and a host of other societal inanities are certainly intolerant of those who exercise their faith.

What an odd perspective.

Sounds a lot like rank fear to me.

Where did you get that idea?

XO goes further than trivializing God, he denies His existance and ridicules those who don't.

And how are YOU or anybody else harmed by their pointing to the sky?

What's up with that?

Is your skin THAT thin?

And that brings me to Talking Point #4. It is a small mind that has no room for God.

I used to be an atheist. I chalk it up to being young and stupid. I eventually grew up. Talking Point #20. Liberals' emotional development stops at the age of 16.

It is SO much fun showing that liberals are so shallow, close-minded and inflexible that they can be easily put in boxes of my making.

That was a excellent post Joe. This was another ball thrown by the president, not a Chanukah party . It reminds me of the W.C. Fields quote , "you cannot fool an honest man." Those Jews who participated in this charade should have know better, and I’m sure that they did.. It’s called “Pandering”
And for your readers and commenter’s here to constant attempt to compare Obama to Bush is silly, very silly indeed! This is not about American politics and there is not a need for any comparisons. The expressed observation is based on the merits; on that which the present president has and has not said and done for the past three years, as well as the couple of decades prior. One speech at the UN - I also recall his previous ones! - as accurate as it may have been, probably for internal political expediency..., is not enough to undo three full years of insults towards the Jewish people, its homeland, its leaders and institutions. The latest came, formally, in the speeches of the US ambassador to Belgium, and the speeches by Mr. Panetta and Ms. Clinton at the Brookings Institute; all three being agents of the present occupant of the oval office. It is sad that some keep covering their eyes and ears in the face of the person who will have been viewed as the worst enemy of the Jewish people and Israel since Carter, and probably worse .
Obama and the folks on the left who voted for him so eagerly thinks he is caring and may mean well, but in my eyes it is patronizing at best to take a religious artifact like a Chanukah Menorah that in this case was brought in especially for the occasion, a Menorah that was made in a displaced persons’ camp after World War II, and was lent to the White House by The Jewish Museum in New York

One wonders, after this disciple of the Rev. J. Wright and a close associate of Min. L. Farakhan has taken upon himself the opportunity to insult the Jewish people, again, by changing the date of Chanukah , has he even said anything of meaning regarding Jewish heritage as it is related to the commemoration, to the people and the country in which events took place? And if so, what? Or, rather, as a disciple for more than 20 years of the pastor under whom he set, he couldn't bring himself to say a single positive word about the relationship of the Jewish people to its homeland of 4,000 years, and to its capital city of Jerusalem/Zion of more than 3,000 years at the center of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel), and about the fact that beit ha-miqdash (the sanctified house) at the top of mount Moriah, now occupied by the Muslim al-Aqsa mosque?
This is typical of Obama: if Chanukah begins on a day that is inconvenient for him, then let's move Chanukah to a day that fits in his schedule. And all these rabbis attending this phony celebration, providing Obama with a photo-op "I-am-the-best-friend-Jews-ever-had-in-the-White-House", just few days after his administration bashed Israel again, tried to portray it as a theocracy rather than a democracy and openly claimed that it's Israel and not Palestinians who do not want to negotiate. Obama's celebrations of Jewish holidays in the White House does not impress me in the slightest, in fact I say Shame on those Jews who attended.
And by the way, I am having an Easter party at my house this week. I know its a little early but I am running for president and you know... I want to kiss up to the Christian voters before Christmas.
