New E-Mails Rock The Global Warming Debate

You agendized liberals talk about lies and how you love to expose them, and how the majority of lies are generated by conservatives, etc., but you keep on perpetrating them yourselves and can't even recognize them as lies.

One of the greatest lies in recent years has been the so-called "man-made" climate change (quietly changed from the prior "global warming" designation when it was found that the globe is not warming).

Here is an excerpt from an article that further exposes the scandal among "scientists" on the subject:

A new batch of 5,000 emails among scientists central to the assertion that humans are causing a global warming crisis were anonymously released to the public...

Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.

Phil Jones, a scientist working with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)wrote:

“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we get – and has to be well hidden...”

And on and on it goes.

Slick article, Joe. Budgie boy talks about 5000 e-mails and fails to identify the source and prints excerpts out of context.

To the fringe right wing this constitutes proof of complete "lies".

We went through this with the first round and "Talent on Loan from Synthetic Morphine" Limbaugh was shown to be the fraud.

Joe, do you get all your science news from the right wing business press or is Scientific American or Nature a part of the left wing media?

Joe, I hope you realize this puts you on the far fringes of denial. Even the deniers with science cred admit the earth is warming. Some even admit it's "man-made", it just won't be so bad. Lindzen, Spencer, Peilke, Soon, Baliunus, they agree, it's getting warmer.

The term, "Global Warming" wasn't changed. Climate Change is an added descriptor. It's like saying the Theory of Evolution was replaced by Random Mutation and Natural Selection. Both apply, one is more descriptive.

A new batch of 5,000 emails

These are just more stolen emails from the old batch. Quote mined and taken out of context like the ones released before.

9 independent investigations have found no manipulation of data and the science is sound. Phil Plait links to 5 here.

Then there is this. A Koch funded study from Richard Muller, a Berkeley physicist and self-proclaimed climate skeptic.

“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we get – and has to be well hidden...”

Gee, I wonder what that hyphen and ellipses are hiding.

I just wish the leftie Chicken Littles would finish one doomsday scenario before moving on to the next. Back in the '70s, they wanted to dump millions of tons of soot on the glaciers to melt them and ward off a coming ice age. And they whined just as loudly back then that government officials were doing nothing.

The popular doomsday scenario of the '80s was the hole in the ozone layer. That was supposed to cause cancer and cataracts. Now that the hole is almost closed, the very same people are saying that a thicker ozone layer is causing global warming.

Paul Erlich predicted in his book, "The Population Bomb," that in the '70s, the world would undergo famines and hundreds of millions of people would starve to death. Never happened. Has Erlich been condemned for his lunacy? Nope.

Y2K? HAH!

Then, we had swine flu, bird flu, SARS, killer bees, etc., etc., etc.

Liberals never learn from their mistakes, because they never admit making any.

By the way, the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991 ejected more pollutants into the atmosphere than mankind had since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Where is the damage? And we are supposed to be concerned about car exhaust??

As far as I know, not one single thing these purveyors of panic have predicted has EVER come about. You would think that with a 100 percent failure rate that libs would be humbled. But, nope.

Liberals cannot be embarrassed. They lack the gene to blush.

This global warming mentality is part and parcel of everything that is wrong with our counties economy. We are and have been spending more time and money over this crap then it’s worth. We will never get our act together and get out of this messed up economy until we get someone into the white house who has the guts to reject this farce started by a liberal and now is being sold to us by the entire party. We need a man for the job to stand by his convictions and put an end to this nonsense, not apathetic, cowardly boy like Obama. Like they say, the snake oil salesman has become the new Kool-aide

Yes, and the question is whether the additional buildup from fossil fuel usage will increase the volume of gases in the atmosphere to the point where the normal cycle is severely disrupted.

Back in the '70s, they wanted to dump millions of tons of soot on the glaciers to melt them and ward off a coming ice age.

Back in the 70's a few scientists were speculating on what appeared to be a cooling trend. It was popular media that sensationalized "The Coming Ice Age". You won't find much, if anything, about global cooling in science publications and peer reviewed journals. There was no serious discussion in the science community about an imminent ice age.

The scientific consensus at the time was, it needs more study. Turns out, there was a reduction in the rate of warming due to increased particulates in the atmosphere from industrial pollution.

Because some nut suggested dumping soot on glaciers doesn't mean anyone took it seriously. I've heard it suggested we shoot mirrors into space to reflect sun light away from earth to combat GW. To suggest these insane ideas are something "they" considered is nonsense.

The popular doomsday scenario of the '80s was the hole in the ozone layer.

It was actually a thinning of the ozone layer. The Montreal Protocol, which was eventually signed by every U.N. nation, called for the phase out of the production and use of CFC's and HFC's. It's been an enormous success. There's still a "hole" over Antarctica but atmospheric CFC's are starting to decline.

the world would undergo famines and hundreds of millions of people would starve to death. Never happened

Tell it to the people on the horn of Africa.

Y2K? HAH!

I remember lots of Conservative Christians expecting the return of Jesus, or the Rapture, or Armageddon, or something.

Then, we had swine flu, bird flu, SARS, killer bees, etc., etc., etc.

Liberals never learn from their mistakes, because they never admit making any.

In 1918, between 50 and 100 million people died from a flu pandemic. So, warning people to take precautions when there is an outbreak of vaccine resistant virus is hysteria? It was a mistake because none of those reached epidemic proportions? A liberal mistake? It's hard to prove a negative but a reasonable person might conclude that agencies like the CDC did the job they are designed to do and a larger outbreak was averted.

By the way, the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in the Philippines in 1991 ejected more pollutants into the atmosphere than mankind had since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.

Where do you get this crap? What pollutants are you talking about. Ash and particulates wash out of the atmosphere fairly quick, within months. The most abundant gases released are water vapor, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. The latter two are pollutants. The amount of SO2 from Pinatubo was about 1/10th of what is released each year by human activity. It would take 700 Pinatubos to equal the amount of CO2 released by burning fossil fuels in one year. These numbers are from the U.S. Geologic Survey.

Ranger, I know you get your history from Ann Coulter. Is that where you get your science? Rush? I'm guessing Dennis Prager. The "left wing doomsday hysteria" meme is his.

Liberals don't debate, they argue.

If you want a debate, bring some facts. Not these worn out canards.

Xavier Onassis said...

"Liberals don't debate, they argue."

What, exactly, do you think a debate is?

"de·bate:

v. de·bat·ed, de·bat·ing, de·bates

v.intr.

1. To consider something; deliberate.

2. To engage in argument by discussing opposing points.

3. To engage in a formal discussion or argument."

Do you not have any books in your home at all besides a Bible? Not even a dictionary?

Are you upset about Intellectual Elites sitting up in their east coast Liberal Ivory Towers deciding what words mean and what they don't mean?

I guess we should just let an unfettered Free Market decide the meanings of words.

Ducky's here said...

Do you still consider us liars, Joe?

Lone Ranger said...

A debate is an exchange of facts. Liberals don't have facts, that's why they attack the messenger rather than the message. Liberals feel, conservatives think.

Xavier Onassis said...

Tonto's Boyfreind - Conservatives don't think because they lack the biological apparatus that makes thinking possible.

Conservatives are nothing more than tape recorders (or USB drives) who record talking points and play them back as though they actually know something.

When confronted with actual facts that refute their talking points, they retreat to their caves of mindlessness and await further intrustions.

Joe, I've been helping my 12 year old daughter with her algebra, so here's the equation. .05Gt(x)=35Gt. Can you find the value of x? Hint: x=700.

Here's an article by USGS scientist Terrence M. Gerlach. It's published in EOS, the American Geophysical Union's weekly. He spells it all out.

What deal, Joe? Repubs controlled the Senate for 6 of Reagan's 8 years. Congress passed 7 out of 8 budgets that spent less than the budgets Reagan submitted to Congress. Look it up.

An important question to ask yourself before you repeat this garbage is, "Is this true?"

Now Joe, tell me about that "deal".

Joe, did you see that your heroine, Ann Barnhardt, had to close her trading firm? Wonder what happened.

I bring her up because she's an excellent illustration of your attitude toward fact.

You posted a video of that idiot stating that playing music is cause for beheading in Muslim countries.

I countered that I enjoy world music and have a quantity of music on my iPod from a variety of Muslim countries. Very good music. I mentioned that, while she isn't well known in the West, Oum Khatoom was probably the best known musician in the world.

The responses from your learned right wing readers was that I am full of it and there is no way I have anything of the sort. No request to provide a list, simply a rejection of the existence of Islamic music. This is typical of the hard core right when they are cornered.

Hmmm ...
Genre - Arabic

Cheik Raymond
Consuelo Ruiz
Iraqi Manqam Ensemble
Filfel Goungry
Ikewan
M.M. Naji
Munir Bashir
Musicians of the Nile
Oum Khaltoum
Radio Tarifa
Souad Massi

.... I keep the Turkish and Asian stuff under a separate genre.

But I'll guarantee you'll stick to Ann Barbhardt's bigoted spew as truth.

Economics, energy policy, culture ... doesn't matter.

Joe said...

Ducky: "I countered that I enjoy world music and have a quantity of music on my iPod from a variety of Muslim countries."

I don't believe anyone said YOU would be beheaded for playing music from Muslim countries.

Do you recognize a distinction between Arabic music and Muslim music?

You have deliberately or otherwise mis-characterized what she actually said and her point.

Lefties, liberals and progressives ALWAYS mis-characterize conservatives' statements. They don't know any different, ignorant souls that they are.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - Of course being Arabic is not necessarily synonymous with being Muslim.

Arabic is an ethnic classification whereas Muslim is a religious classification.

However, the founder of Islam was an Arab and 92% of Arabs who live in the historically Arabian geographic area are Muslims.

The artists on Ducky's list couldn't record their music if they had been beheaded and I'm betting they aren't churning out any of that god-awful Christian Rock.
