WHO'S IN CHARGE OF YOUR FLIGHT?

So some folks are upset because a pilot refused to take off with some folks dressed in Middle Eastern garb.

The captain of an aircraft, like the captain of a ship or the conductor on a train is in total control of his plane.

He has the right to refuse to fly for whatever reason he thinks is necessary for the safety and comfort of his passengers.

If the pilot of my flight does not have that right, I don't want to fly with him/her.

If he wants to refuse to fly because he/she does not like me, that's OK.

Given recent history, there is no lack of reason to refuse passage to  someone who thinks it alright to dress in a manner that emulates those who have been perpetrating harm on U.S. citizens.

The pilot should be commended, not condemned, for making the right decision.

It was, after all, his to make.

So if the pilot refused to take off because he saw two obese people board the plane and he was afraid their bulk would consume too much fuel and make the plane sluggish to handle and endanger the flight, he would be justified in making that call?

Too fat to fly is a judgement the pilot gets to make?

XO: Either the pilot is in control or he is not.

Yes, it is a judgement he gets to make.

If he doesn't want me on his airplane, that is his decision.

Think about it...if you were the pilot, would YOU want me on your plane?

Good gawd, if I were a pilot and had read your blog, I would NOT allow an advocate of genocide on my plane!

What you advocated not once, but TWICE is so egregious that it deserves more exposure.

And that's what I intend to give it.

I will, of course, give you all the credit you deserve for advocating genocide.

This is directed at what Shaw Kenawe said.

Shaw Kenawe, if i were the passenger that they say next to you, I would refuse to sit there, I would rather sit next to the fat person. There's also a difference between fat person and a stupid one.

His plane, his rules. If it means keeping other passengers safe, I am all for it.

:: sigh ::

It's not the pilot's plane and it's not his rules.

Being the pilot of an airplane is nothing like being the captain of a ship.

The pilot of an airplane can't perform a marriage.

The pilot of an airplane can't perform an aerial burial and dump your body overboard if you die on the plane.

The pilot of an airplane can't exact capital punishment on a crew or passenger member he suspects of mutiny.

The pilot of an airplane is a glorified bus driver who is obligated to abide by the rules of the airline who owns the plane, pays his salary. The FAA also has a thing or two to say about what the pilot can or cannot do.

Most of the time, the pilot isn't even flying the plane. They are monitoring the automated systems that do most of the flying.

If there is ever a major decision to be made, the pilot gets on the radio and asks his boss what he should do.

Just because a pilot my hold bigoted, racist, paranoid xenophobic fantasies about middle eastern boogie men doesn't mean he gets to kick off a paying passenger who passed the TSA checkpoint.

Look for this one to wind up in the courts and the pilot to wind up asking people "do you want fries with that?"

XO: The captain of a ship can't do a loop in mid air. The Captain of a ship can't fly through clouds.

What someone can't do does not negate the things he/she CAN do.

But the liberal/progressive mind set can't grasp that.

Oh, good! You agree with me. You should be able to decide who rides on the plain of which you are the captain.

Who would ever have thought YOU would agree with ME?

I'm underwhelmed.

Some Middle Easterners are advocates of genocide. Can you tell which ones are and which ones aren't?

Which ones would you disallow from your plane?

That's Shaw for you. She's an unpaid volunteer for Media Matters who works for the White House by patrolling blogs for dissent and then uses the Alinsky tactics to expose anyone who disagrees with her as being either racist or fascist or whatever the flavor of the day is. Such a good little Brown Shirt.

Lisa - Re you even following the subject of the post or the subsequent discussion? Nothing you have posted seems to have any relevance to the matter at hand.

Hey Joe, when was the last time anyone in a keffiyeh disturbed a flight? Hijackers don't draw attention to themselves you silly.

Don't look now Joe but the crack Libyan spec-ops are planning a night drop to sprinkle botulism on you corn flakes.

That pilot was some kind of bigot huh? Must have given you a woody.

HA: She never has and never will. I lose no sleep over it, 'cause I don't care one whit.

Lisa: Don't take XO's comments too seriousely. He often does not follow the subject of the post...just likes to attack people.

Ducky: I don't eat corn flakes. Being the crack operatives that they are, they should have known that.

"Joe, maybe we can get you featured at loonwatch.com" Ya think? WOW!!

SK: I didn't think you were sensitive enough to even notice Lisa's comments.
