WHY DOES ANYBODY LISTEN TO THIS GUY?

Is this really representative of the left, blacks, talk show "hosts" or anything above street level?

LOL! That was hilarious! Sharpton has always been an embarrassment dating all the way back to his support of Tawana Brawley for which he still has not recounted and apologized for.

He's a self-serving idiot. I cringe whenever speaks.

Kinda the way any intelligent conservative should feel about Sarah Palin. Or Ted Cruz. Or Tod Akin. Or Rand Paul. Or Marco Rubio. Or Paul Ryan. Or Bill Kristol. Or Rush Limbog.

I don't think he has a large audience, Joe.

XO, one you forgot.

... be sure to check out this guy's act.

XO: And the way any liberal should feel about BO, MO, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Bill de Blasio, Jerry Brown, Al Franken, Rachel Maddow, Jay Carney, Ed Schultz or Hillary Clintlock.

The man is NOT a "reverend" - i.e., not a Christian let alone a Christian leader, because he has no clue what Christianity is about.

He's always been a rank racist, hating white people with a passion. And of course he is a race-baiter, always trying to stir blacks into hating whites.

The man is a useless as a screen door in a submarine.

Joe said...

GEC: Actually a screen door in a submarine is more useful.

Joe - That was pieced together - right. Didn't sound too intelligent - whatever.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - I also cringe when Pelosi speaks. I'm OK with Harry Reid as a counter to Mitch McConnell. I really don't follow de Blasio. I like Jerry Brown very much and you should too! Look at how much better off California is now than when The Terminator left office! Plus, Jerry used to date Linda Ronstadt and I love me some Linda. Al Franken! I love that guy! We should have more SNL alumni in the Senate. Because your bunch are the most sour, humorless, unaware and out of touch politicians this country has ever seen! Rachel takes you school! Jay has a job to do. Ed? I don't know. I don't watch Ed. Hilary? She's your next Commander in Chief. If she can beat a primary challenge from Elizabeth Warren. There isn't ANYONE on the Republican bench who could beat either one of them.

G.E.C. - Ah! Once again, setting yourself up as the Supreme Arbiter over who can or cannot be a Reverend or who can or cannot be a Christian.

You make Cotton Mather proud!

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

X.O.

I don't set myself up as an arbiter - I only compare teachings of the person with what the Bible says. The Bible is the arbiter of who is or is not a Christian.

But you being an atheist have no reason to concern yourself with our business.

Xavier Onassis said...

G.E.C. - "I don't set myself up as an arbiter..."

Of course you do! Every time you make a proclamation about who is or is not a Christian, you have the hubris and arrogance to think that you are able to interpret your god's word and will better and more accurately than any other reader of the Bible.

How dare you?

"I only compare teachings of the person with what the Bible says."

No. You compare them with your narrow interpretation of what you think the Bible says which, quite frankly, is WAY outside the theological norm of what most Biblical scholars think.

Your views are on the outermost, fanatical fringe of mainstream Christianity.

"But you being an atheist have no reason to concern yourself with our business."

Oh yes I do! Because superstitious idiots like you keep trying to pass laws that inflict your silly, bronze age fairy tales on me and my friends and family.

We will fight you every step of the way.

Keep your nonsense at home and in your churches. It has no place whatsoever in our courts and our schools.

You really should stay out of discussions which are about what Christianity really is. All you do is show how ignorant you are.

The "interpretations" I have of the Bible are the same ones REAL Christians have had for 2000 years. They aren't MY interpretations.

You and your ilk are always FORCING your atheistic, materialistic religion onto us and yet you whine about us forcing? Balderdash. Go cry into your pillow.

Ducky's here said...

No Glenn, what is demonstrated is that your dogma is not universal.

Dogma is a dangerous political and social foundation for a heterogeneous society and you have to learn that.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Sorry Ducky, but you are in error.

It isn't MY dogma, it is the teaching of the church for 2000 years. It is the johnny-come-lately liberal theologians who want to teach racism, homosexuality, abortion, social gospel, redistribution of the wealth, and all other left wing ideology, and then claim it is in the Bible.

Your kind are just like the cults - practicing eisegesis on a daily basis.

G.E.C. - I know a LOT of Christians. But I don't know any of them that believe in the narrow, restrictive, exclusive, bigoted and hateful version of "christianity" that you practice.

Have you even read the words that Jesus spoke? Do you understand his message?

Because your views and attitudes and condemnations of other people are pretty much the exact opposite of everything Jesus preached and taught.

You claim to have this exclusive "christian apologetic" interpretation of the gospel that condemns anyone who doesn't share your narrow and out-of-the-mainstream interpretation of scripture as being anti-apostolic heathens.

I was raised to believe that God spoke to people through His Holy Word as they read the Bible and prayed. That suggested a subjective and personal relationship with God.

But you present a God that is subject to YOUR definition and interpretation and no other.

No one else is qualified to read the scripture and find meaning that differs from yours.

Don't you realize that you are setting yourself ABOVE GOD by defining for his followers what his words "really" mean?

How did you become the Voice of God? Who granted you the divine authority to interpret the Word of God for all of humanity?

Who are you to deny God the ability to speak to people outside of your definition of the gospel?

Ezekiel 16:49

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

You and your ilk just love claiming that the REAL Christian faith is only one person's belief, which then marginalizes it.

You call my belief "narrow, restrictive, exclusive," and yet that is exactly what the Bible claims for Christianity - "Narrow is the gate." Any truth claim to a belief system is restrictive to those who believe in it, and is exclusive of all others because it is the truth and is exclusive of non-truth.

You call it "bigoted and hateful" with no evidence except your opinion that it must be "bigoted and hateful" because it disagrees with you. Yet you have no objective standard by which to measure my belief by - after all, if there is no God - as you claim - then nothing is bigoted or hateful; one belief is as good as another.

The bigoted and hateful people are those like you who rebel against God and attack all those who teach the truth. You refuse to allow us our beliefs with your horrid intolerance while you daily FORCE your beliefs upon us - e.g., either accept homosexuality and same-sex fake marriage or be punished.

You and your ilk are hypocritical jerks.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Ducky,

Look in the mirror. You rebel against God and will learn better in the end.

Joe said...

"Narrow is the path that leads to eternal life and few there are who find it."

Sounds a bit narrow to me.

Well, what do you know...it is.

Craig said...

God speaks through the very reverend Al. God shouts his mispronunciations and malaprops.

Glenn, looking down your nose for all the lesser Christians has really distorted your view of the world. If I believed in an afterlife, spending an eternity in heaven with the likes of you would be pure hell.

Lighten up.

Joe said...

Craig: How tolerant of you!

Craig said...

I never liked the word 'tolerant' in this context. I'll deign to 'put up with' you. Are you insinuating I'm being hypocritical for not tolerating Glenn's intolerance? Being tolerant doesn't mean I have to like everyone.

I couldn't care less what Glenn believes. Spending 5 minutes with him, let alone and eternity, would bore me to tears. If I could, somehow, convince myself a supernatural deity was responsible for all this, Glenn's exclusive brand would send me running in the other direction. He's a lousy ambassador.

I could carve out a tiny portion of my eternity for you, Joe. You don't seem completely constipated by humorless piety and self righteousness. We could throw back a few nectars and argue over the despot in charge of heaven.

Alas, I've blown my spot there but I think I still have a shot at Pan Gu's egg. Have you ever considered converting?

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Craig,

I don't look down on anybody. I just identify whether or not they are a believer based on their teachings. It isn't looking down on people to identify their ideology .

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Craig,

Using the Bible, demonstrate to me what I have done or taught that makes me a "lousy ambassador" for Christ. You made the accusation, now provide evidence.

Joe said...

Craig: "Spending 5 minutes with him, let alone and eternity, would bore me to tears...."

You wouldn't be pre-judging, would you. I thought liberals were loving, tolerant unprejudiced people.

I guess I was wrong.

Actually, I knew it all along. You just reinforced my previous belief about liberals. You always do.

Xavier Onassis said...

G.E.C. - "I just identify whether or not they are a believer based on their teachings."

And you seriously believe that you have sufficient information to make that call. "This person is a believer. This person isn't. Because you know what is in their heart. You can determine whether or not their personal relationship with God is valid or not.

What if God disagrees with you? Who wins that argument?

Are you so arrogant that you think you can insert yourself and your beliefs and your interpretation of one religion's scripture between an Almighty God and his followers?

If there is a God (which there totally isn't), don't you think he could choose to communicate with his creations in any manner he pleases?

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Jews my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Hindus my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Muslims my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Hari Krishna's my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Catholics my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

"I'm God. I'm going to give the Mormons my message to them in a context that they will understand and embrace."

Do you, G.E.C., deny the right of Almighty God to communicate to his creation in whatever manner he chooses?

Lisa said...

I cringe when most democrats speak. Harry Reid is worse than nails on a blackboard. Can you imagine how hated he would be if he were a republican?

Craig said...

You wouldn't be pre-judging, would you

No. It's based on reading his comments for the last year or two.

You just reinforced my previous belief about liberals.

So, you make judgements on a whole group of people based on the actions or comment from one person in that group. I think there's a word for that. What is it?

Like I said, I defend Glenn's right to believe whatever he wants. I don't think I'd enjoy spending any time with him. Based on his comments here and reading his blog, he's a pompous, arrogant, stick up the butt Christianist who's never had one nice thing to say about anyone he disagrees with. I just don't think we have much in common.

Please note, I'm talking only about Glenn, not all pompous, arrogant, stick up the butt Christianists.

Matthew 7:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

It's right there in your manual. I'm sure Glenn can find some biblical context I'm missing where those words don't mean what they actually say.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

X.O.

One can know what is in one's heart towards God based on their teaching and professed beliefs.

E.g. Mormons teach and believe that God is an exalted man who earned his way to heaven, and that Christ was a product of sexual intercourse between god and Mary.

Since this is 100% false god and false Christ, these people cannot be Christians. They worship idols.

That's all one needs to know to determine if they are Christians.

Your examples of what God would say are totally unbiblical.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Craig,

The passage you cited has to do with hypocritical judgement. Follow the text farther and you will see that Jesus doesn't say to not judge - he says to first judge yourself so that you will be able to clearly judge another.

The Bible continuously tells us to judge and make judgments:

Matt. 7:15ff tells us to judge the fruits of false teachers.

Lk. 7:43 says we are to rightly judge, Lk 12:57 says to judge rightly. John 7:24 says to judge righteously. 1 Cor. 2:15 says to judge all things. 1 Cor. 5:11-13 says to judge those in the church. 1 Cor. 10:15 says to judge what is said. Gal. 6:1 says to correct wrong-doing Christians. ETC, ETC.

The bible tells us not to judge the wicked, but to warn them that their sins will draw the judgment of God. Warning and judging are not the same.
Warn: to give notice or bring attention to beforehand especially of danger to come
Judge: to pronounce sentence on another without the authority to do so.
