FASCISM – WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT? WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Fascism is a term bandied about by the left in this country to describe the right and by the right to describe the left.

So, what is Fascism really all about?

Fascism was the philosophy of government first espoused by Bonito Mussolini of Italy in 1919.
Other despots have adopted some or all of its views, among them: Hitler of Germany; Franco of Spain; Suharto of Indonesia and several Latin American regimes.

There are specific characteristics of Fascism:

1. A powerful and continuing nationalism. Fascists focus on the use of national symbols as a part of their propaganda efforts. The use of these symbols is usually required of government and citizens alike, or at least encouraged to the point of perceived requirement.

2. Disdain for Human Rights. Fascists try to convince the populace that human rights can be ignored because of the “need” of the people. This is demonstrated through the use of torture, executions, assassinations, lengthy incarcerations, etc.

3. The identification of “enemies” as a unifying cause. The government leads people to become frenzied over the need to eliminate perceived common threats.

4. The military becomes the supreme arm of the government to enforce government control over the people.

5. Under Fascism, the government becomes the ultimate guardian of social institutions such as family and church.

6. Fascism seeks to control mass media, either directly or indirectly. Censorship is very common in Fascism.

7. In Fascist regimes, fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. The Fascist government adopts religious terms and “adjusts” them to mean what it wants them to mean as best serves the government’s needs.

9. Government and corporations tend to become fused under Fascism. The government accepts the influence of business and helps corporations form a special relationship with it.

10. The labor force is controlled by the government in a Fascist regime. Neither union activity nor individual productivity and initiative is allowed by Fascists.

11. Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility toward higher education, intellectuals and the arts. Free expression in any of these areas is suppressed.

12. Next to the military, police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws in a Fascist society.

13. Fascist societies are almost always governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to positions of political power and influence.

14. Under Fascism, elections are controlled and manipulated to achieve the results desired by the government. The use of legislation to control and increase voting numbers is linked to the manipulation of the media to reach legislative goals.

There have been times in history when Fascists have simply walked in and taken over governments. At other time, they have crept in like a thief in the night, slowly adopting one element, then another of the Fascist dogma.

Americans must be ever vigilant about the directions its government takes it. The beginning of that vigilance is education.

Now you are better educated about Fascism.

The fascists on the left are doing everything they can to destroy the American way, America's freedom of choice, and America's freedom of speech freedom. They are trying to destroy a man for expressing his religious, and his political freedoms. The left solution for that is to destroy him and his company to shut him up. It's no longer enough to boycott his business, now they want to stop him from opening up a business where he wants to. So tell me what is it about freedom of religion or freedom of choice that has made you brown shirts so upset? We have seem this happen decades ago. They used the same tactics in Germany, and we went to war to stop it. And now you are using the same extremist ideas right here in America.

Debonair Dude - Wow! Not only are you COMPLETELY out of touch with reality, but you don't seem to have even read or comprehended what Joe just posted.

I will misread and misinterpret what Joe posted shortly. I'm a liberal professional. Please don't try this at home.

OK, everything you said was paranoid, delusional, misinformed and ridiculous. And just plain silly.

The reality is, the Chick Fil A owner inserted his religious beliefs into his business. BAD idea!

Potential customers who may like his product find his expressed religous beliefs to be narrow minded, bigoted and ridiculously antiquated.

Those potential customers rallied other potential customers of like minds and said "Hey, let's not buy this guy's stuff anymore".

No one is trying to destroy him or his company. No one is trying to shut him up.

This is just the unfettered Free Market and aggresive, competitive Capitalism at work. Honest people voting with their pocket books! God bless America!

Apparently, publically hating on gay people isn't a very good marketing strategy for your mediocre chicken sammiches.

FREE DUCKY! FREE DUCKY! FREE DUCKY!

unknown Ducky-He was asked about it a Christian radio show, answered it and the media caught wind of it and went and did their usual pot stirring. It's not like he invoked it into his business. Key word "his". It was a good story for them.
I know this is difficult so I will type slowly.

Joe -

"1. A powerful and continuing nationalism. Fascists focus on the use of national symbols as a part of their propaganda efforts."

Ronald Reagan was particularly skilled at this. The Great Communicator!

7. In Fascist regimes, fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses."

George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfield and their malicious minions did all of these things. Green lighting torture, indefinite suspension, Guantanamo, Rendition, all in a move to grab as much presidential power as they could.

"9. Government and corporations tend to become fused under Fascism. The government accepts the influence of business and helps corporations form a special relationship with it."

There is no better description of the relationship between business and government under an ideal Republican Utopia. Business calls the shots and Governments complies and gets out of the way!

"11. Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility toward higher education, intellectuals and the arts. Free expression in any of these areas is suppressed."

Rick Santorum: "President Obama said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a SNOB!"

The Left tend to favor "higher education, intellectuals and the arts". The right HATES them.

"12. Next to the military, police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws in a Fascist society."

Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates was the first to militarize a domestic police force with the formation of SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) Teams.

He also created the SWAT Team Rank of Field Commander. You know who else held the rank of Field Commander? Irwin Rommel. Go look him up. I can't take personel responsibility for your complete education. Show some initiative.

"13. Fascist societies are almost always governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to positions of political power and influence.

By your own definition the Republican Right meets all of the qualifications of a Fascist Regime.

XO: You ae trying to prove or attack particular political figures. I was writing about the direction our government has been heading over the years.

As I recall, there were both Democrats AND republicans "in charge" during those years.

It is not in the nature of government to grow freedom. It always tends toward control.

That is why diligence on the part of the electorate in a "free" country is so important.

Unknown: "you don't seem to have even read or comprehended what Joe just posted."

Uhh. That would be you.

AT what point in my post did I mention Chick-Fil-A?

In a free country, inserting one's beliefs, whether Christian, Islamic, atheistic, agnostic or otherwise is perfectly OK.

You don't really like true liberty very much, do you?

As a liberal commenter, you're an amateur.

Whatever floats your warped boat, and what ever you think Ducky, But I still think that YOU are a Idiot no matter what name you use to post.

And if you think that "
No one is trying to destroy him or his company. No one is trying to shut him up. "

Then you are even dumber that I first thought.

This is a bigger story than it appears to be, its about a bunch of people who are trying to push Obama's Socialist agenda on the American people .
And the result shows how fed up people are with the leftist agenda and ruining the foundation of the country.

Thanks for the chuckle Ducky.

Debonair Dude - "Unknown" was me, not Ducky. I had some authentication issues.

That being said...

"And if you think that "No one is trying to destroy him or his company. No one is trying to shut him up." Then you are even dumber that I first thought."

"This is a bigger story than it appears to be, its about a bunch of people who are trying to push Obama's Socialist agenda on the American people ."

I am actually laughing out loud at how silly and ridiculous you are.

No one is out to "...destroy him or his company..."

People like me just want to let him know that if you publicly associate your business with bigotry and hatred, I'm not going to buy your crappy, run-of-the-mill chicken sandwiches.

I don't care if he stays in business and continues to sell his bland, tasteless, fast food crap to long lines of equally ignorant, backward-thinking customers.

I just won't be one of them Free country, my choice.

"This is a bigger story than it appears to be..."

This is the part that cracks me up the most! You right wing nut jobs always think everything is a "...bigger story than it appears to be..."

That's indicative of some serious mental health issues.

You see conspiracies and elaborate Machiavellian schemes everywhere.

That's not astute informed insight, it's paranoia.

You're sick. You need to seek help.
