I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS HE IS AN AMATEUR

From Ed Lasky:

Edward Klein's new book on Barack Obama, The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House, is a withering portrayal of a radical adrift, in over his head, drowning in his own incompetency -- while being weighed down by a small circle of "advisers" who are compounding the problem of the Amateur in the White House.

Klein's book begins with a talisman-like quote uttered by Barack Obama when his recently appointed Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner tried to boost Obama's ego by telling him, "Your legacy is going to be preventing the second Great Depression." To which Barack Obama responded, "That's not enough for me."

As all of America knows by now, Obama has aggressively sought to "fundamentally transform" America -- one of the few promises he has kept from the days of 2008.

Five trillion dollars of borrowing, ObamaCare passed over the objections of the majority of Americans through legislative legerdemain and special deals made with resistant politicians, failed stimulus, green programs failing left and right as taxpayers are left holding the bag, a recovery that is the most anemic on record, an America that has been sundered by the man who promises to unite us, America weaker abroad and at home -- yes, America has been fundamentally transformed. Mission Accomplished. But how and why did Obama succeed in such a catastrophic way? That is the question that Klein successfully answers in his extremely readable and enjoyable book, with enough spicy details to satisfy the craving of anyone interested in how President Obama and those closest to him have driven us to the condition we find ourselves in as we approach November.

One of the motifs that runs throughout the book is Barack Obama's sheer level of incompetency. He has the fatal conceit of many politicians: an overweening ego. That may be a prerequisite for politicians and leaders, but when it is unleavened by a willingness to consider the views of others, it becomes a fatal conceit. And Obama has that trait in abundance.

Stories tumble out that reveal a man who believes he is all but omniscient -- unwilling to give any credence to the views of others (especially but not limited to those across the aisle).

Experts in management are interviewed who point out that he lacks essential qualities of leadership. Indeed, the book gets its title from an outburst from Bill Clinton, who was trying to encourage Hillary to take on Obama in the Democratic primary of 2012: Obama doesn't know how to be president. He doesn't know how the world works. He's incompetent.

He's...he's...Barack Obama's an amateur Read more.

(End of quote from article)

President BO (the child president) came into office unprepared, with no actual work experience, a very short stent as a senator, no understanding of the Constitution he is supposed to protect and defend (never mind that he is falsely accused of having been a Constitutional professor [He was only a lecturer]) and absolutely no understanding of foreign affairs.

Lasky is right. President BO (the child president) is a rank amateur.

Thanks for the heads-up. I can't wait to read this book.

When it comes to leadership, Obama certainly is an amateur, but when it comes to living in the lap of luxury on somebody else's $$$, he's a master.

One thing I can say about Obama and the hard left is I believe they studied the Constitution with all intensive purposes of changing it. What he couldn't change he put in hard left Supreme Court Justices to do it.
Remember how Bush trampled on the Constitution and they convinced people he was? Now Obama is pulling a Sandy Berger with it in usual "slight of hand' maneuvering.
You know how Joe Wilson yelled out "You Lie". Well turns out he was correct.

Every American President is an Amateur.

It's the nature of the job.

No newly elected POTUS has ever been POTUS before.

There are no University Degrees available in being President of the United States.

The Constitution does not specify a course of study, certification program or list of previous experience check boxes to qualify for the office.

"US Constitution, Article II, Section 1

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States."

That's it. The only other requirement is being elected to office by the American people.

The most "Amateur" President in American history was George Washington.

He seemed to do OK.

The most "Professional" President was probably FDR. He served more terms than any other POTUS.

So by your derogatory "Amateur" label, I guess you would rank FDR above George Washington?

Obummer and other democrats are sitting on their hands going all over the country fund raising, playing Golf and Basketball and going to Hip-Hop concerts and expensive New York restaurants and spending Millions of our Dollars per day on Air Force One going to campaigns for State Campaigns, and Hollywood parties known as "Fund Raisers" rubbing elbows with the Hollywood elite. While you and I and Millions of other Americans can't even pay our Mortgages.

If Obummer wants to Campaign for himself or for someone else, some of the money he raises should go to pay for his trip! It costs us MILLIONS every day for these trips! That's YOUR MONEY, and that's MY MONEY! So Wake up you stupid, stupid sheep!

This guy above says that, "Every American President is an Amateur"

It may be so, but Obummer is more than a "Amateur", he's a phony lying,, Socialist, unqualified, incompetent, failure! We are witnessing the erosion of our freedoms almost on a daily basis.
We see China becoming more wealthy and powerful at the same time that we see America on the decline. Our economy is a such a mess that I doubt if we will ever see it as strong as it was again in our lifetimes.
Obummer ONLY says what the crowd he is talking to at the time wants to hear and then goes to another group and says the exact opposite! He is a Liar you know it and I know it.

OK, now you can go ahead and call me a Racist! Who cares, but for the record, I don't like the Man not his race. I don't like Obummer's Politics not his Race!

Our only means of saving America is to get Obummer out of office and put Romney in, like him or not in my opinion there's no denying he's a big improvement over Obummer !
OK, Rant over

XO: No, because GW understood the principles on which this country was being founded. President BO (the child president) hasn't learned them yet.

The difference between an amateur and a professional can also be one of competence at a job.

A professional golfer not only makes his living at golf, he is also a better player than the majority of golfers in the world, else he would not be a professional very long.

President BO (the child president) makes decisions based on political expediency, misunderstanding of the issues, lack of Constitutional knowledge and no principles.

Principles don't change.

Obama does (witness gay marriage...
for it, against it, for it).

Ducky's here said...

So Joe has a comprehensive definition of the founding principles.

Isn't he swell?

Some would wonder when the debate was declared complete but not Joe, an angel spoke to the founding oligarchs and that's that.

Ducky: "So Joe has a comprehensive definition of the founding principles."

True.

"Isn't he swell?"

Yes, I am.

"Some would wonder when the debate was declared complete but not Joe, an angel spoke to the founding oligarchs and that's that."

No, it's not complete. There are still some folks who don't like the way it turned out, so they hope they can change it to a more "progressive" (which is really retarded) direction.

Joe - "No, it's not complete. There are still some folks who don't like the way it turned out, so they hope they can change it to a more "progressive" (which is really retarded) direction."

Our Founding Father's never meant for the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights to be carved in stone. They weren't that stupid. They knew that our founding principles would need to adapt to a changing future. And they constructed their language adequately vague to allow for that.

Joe said...

XO: "...they constructed their language adequately vague to allow for that."

Their language is not at all vague. It is principled.

But in order to recognize principles you must have some yourself.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - "...the pusrsuit of happiness..."

Can you define "happiness"?

Is there a universal definition that applies to every American citizen that says "If you achieve/have A, B & C, you are happy."

Happiness could be marrying your gay life partner.

Happiness could be living in a cabin in Idaho issuimg inflammatory manifestos and killing anyone who came within a mile of you.

Happiness could be creating "art" that depicts a crucifix in a bottle of urine.

Happiness could be could be tackling pregnant women entering a doctor's office where abortions are performed and forcing them to listen to you rant about murdering babies.

Happiness could be bloggging and publishing ridiculous, unsubstantiated, completely fictional crap that you think furthers your agenda.

The Founding Fathers were purposely vague because they knew that they could not predict what the world would look like 100, 200 or 1000 years from now.

We don't live in the 18th Century and our founding documents do not lock us into 18th Century concepts.

Joe said...

XO: "Is there a universal definition that applies to every American citizen that says "If you achieve/have A, B & C, you are happy."

What a perversion of the phrase.

The point is not happiness. The point is the freedom to PERSUE happiness, whatever that might mean to you, so long as it does not interfere with others' persuit of happiness, harm others or confiscate their property.

Xavier Onassis said...

Watching Ed Klein on Hannity right now.

What an idiot!

If Obama said it was a beautiful day with a blue sky he would travel the world interviewing people who lived in areas that were cloudy and stormy.

Seriously, you right wingers are SO GULLIBLE!

Do you not think AT ALL?

The dumbing down of the conservative American electorate can follow a direct path of descent from Goldwater/Nixon/Reagan/Bush/Dubya/Romney.

The ignorance and willingness to embrace stupidity, bigottry and narrowmindedness has grown exponentially in each iteration.

You went from "educated, informed, intellectual difference of opinion" to "duh, yah, what? GUNS & NASCAR! Ted Nugent for President!"

I don't know how you people can even take each other seriously.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - "The point is the freedom to PERSUE happiness, whatever that might mean to you, so long as it does not interfere with others' persuit of happiness, harm others or confiscate their property".

Exactly! So if my definition of "happiness" is to host drug-fueled Roman orgies with willing participants spouting blasphemy, condemning bigots, making fun of Christians and filming the activities so I can post it on an internet website, that is all protected by our Founding Father's intentionally vague Constitutional language even though they never anticipated anything remotely like that.

Lisa said...

Not to minimize her joy but speak about dumbing down

Joe said...

XO: "...even though they never anticipated anything remotely like that."

What they recognized is that they could not anticipate every future eventuality, so instead of providing a long list of "rights and wrongs," they laid down very clear principles that embrace freedom with responsibility.

They also placed specific limits on how government could be involved in citizens' lives.

Having demonstrated by your example that you understand neither freedom nor responsibility, you cannot possibly understand what they intended.

And, indeed, you don't.
