A LITTLE HELP, IF YOU PLEASE

Some liberal/progressive please give me a working, practical, understandable definition of what you mean when you use the term "RIGHT WING."

Joe - I don't believe I've personally used the term 'right wing'.

I usually say 'Conservative.'

And it kinda scares me that I'm beginning see the word 'enemy'
creeping up - slowly but surely - as a synonym.

Xavier Onassis said...

A Conservative. One who abhors change of any kind.

A person who's guiding philosophy in life is "Every white man for himself! Take as much as you can take and screw everyone else!"

A delusional person who believes that the good ol' "Ozzie and Harriet", "Leave it to Beaver" America actually existed. It never did.

A person who believes that government of any kind is evil and can do nothing right, that our court system is corrupt, yet who still supports the death penalty.

A person who fails to see that America is no different from any other sovereign nation. No better. No worse.

A person who believes that it is America's God Given Right to arrogantly stomp around the world, invading other countries, taking whatever we want while demanding that other countries refrain from doing so.

A person who believes that human beings are so base and so evil that they need the illusion of a supernatural Sky Daddy watching their every move and holding them accountable in a fictional afterlife in order to keep their desires in check.

Someone who cares not one whit about the suffering of others as long as they themselves are comfortable.

Someone who believes that slaves had it pretty easy and life was pretty good back then.

Someone who sees the world in black and white, who can't discern complexity or shades of gray. Someone who demands simple answers to complex questions.

Someone lacking the intellectual rigor to analyze data and form independent conclusions. Someone who needs to be told how they should think and feel about things.

There ya go!

Xavier Onassis said...

Oh, and by the way, that picture you have posted is actually a LEFT wing. Just sayin'.

Quite Rightly said...

@xavier - I'd say you summed up Lib/Prog stereotypes, misconceptions, and lies admirably well.

Looks like you stirred up the DailyKos kids with that one. And I've read enough already to know what they call Allen West and Herman Cain. But that's NOT racists, noooo nooo, can't be when it comes from the "tolerant" party.

Question, Do the Liberals really know a " polite way to describe" ANYTHING?

sue hanes said...

XO - Wow! That just about sums it up.

CJohnson said...

these people don't even know their left from their right anyway.

Leticia said...

This will be interesting, so far, I am not surprised by the comments.

sue hanes said...

Leticia - The fact that you are not surprised by the comments is really not much of a comment at all.

But being in complete agreement with XO makes my comment not worth much either, so I really don't have any right to criticize yours.

:-&

Joe said...

SH: Hmm. So American citizens who disagree with you are enemies. Interesting.

XO: I like change. So I guess I'm not a right winger.

I believe in personal responsibility regardless of color and believe "screwing" others is immoral.

I lived in the days of Ozzie and Harriet and Leave it to Beaver. I know what America was like then.

I believe government can do right, when it conforms to its six mandates in the Preamble to the Constitution.

The leftist courts and judges are corrupt.

I'd not support the death penalty if I knew any other way to extract justice...and am totally uninterested in revenge.

I believe that America is unique in the world and quite exceptional.

As to baseness, I look at you and rest my case.

Bet I give more to the needy than you do.

Slavery was evil and was supported more heavily by Democrats than any other group on earth.

Black and white...aren't you being a little racist there?

Nobody tells me what or how to think, least of you or President BO (the child president).

The eagle is upside down.

Just sayin'.

QR: You nailed him.

Lib: Uh...sorry. That is not a definition. Get a dictionary and look up the word "definition."

Rita: According to ignorant liberals, only white folk can be racist.

the malcontent: "Do the Liberals really know a " polite way to describe" ANYTHING?" They are the most impolite people on earth, except for male Muslims.

Leticia: Good comment!

SH: Not a very good comment.

Yes, democrats are the party of tolerance. They tolerated slavery. They tolerated segregation. They tolerated lynch law. They tolerated black codes and Jim Crow.

And they're still tolerant. They tolerate the slaughter of more than a million unborn babies every year. They tolerate brutal communist regimes. They tolerate Jew-hating. They tolerate militant Islam. Their tolerance is unbounded.

For democrats to call anyone racist is a cruel joke.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - Interesting. At no point do you take issue with the accuracy of my definition of a "Right Winger". You only state that you aren't one of them. Running away from the Republican base are you?

Lone Ranger - "And they're still tolerant. They tolerate the slaughter of more than a million unborn babies every year."

Nonsense. Liberals support the right of a woman to decide what does and doesn't happen within her own body.

Republicans/Conservatives deride over-reaching government intrusion in the lives of American Citizens but they don't seem to mind inserting themselves into the wombs of American women and controlling their reproductive cycles.

"They tolerate brutal communist regimes."

LMAO! There is only one "brutal communist regime" left and that's in Cuba! What little threat they pose is far exceeded by the quality of their cigars. We are the only country in the world who has had an embargo against Cuba for the past half century and the Castros are still in power. It hasn't worked! Lift the embargo! Import the cigars! The Cubans want us there.

"They tolerate Jew-hating."

No, we hold Israel accountable. They are not blameless and they don't get a free pass.

"They tolerate militant Islam."

Wrong. We are INTOLERANT of criminal actions from anyone despite their religion. Muslim, Jewish, Christian makes no difference.

As I said before, Right Wing Conservatives are incapable of analyzing data objectively and reaching independent conclusions. They approach the world's problems with a pre-filtered point of view.

America is ALWAYS right!

Israel is ALWAYS right!

All Muslims are Sharia Law Terrorist Fanatics!

Again, they demand simple answers to complex questions.

That's a bit childish and immature.

I prefer to have adults, like Barack Obama in charge.

Joe said...

XO: Why would I take issue with your "definition" of "right wing?"

I asked how you define the term and you answered.

When one invites another to express his/her opinion, the answer, if honest, cannot be wrong.

I do not run from the Republican base; nor do I embrace everything all of them stand for.

I am an independent thinker.

BTW: I support Herman Cain for president.

I hope President BO (the child president) is defeated...by Cain.

Rita said...

Just for the record, let me state that I absolutely believe in women's rights and her right to choose whatever UNTIL that "whatever" involves ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.

When the pre-born child is given AT LEAST the same equal rights as other humans. THEN we can discuss a woman's right to "choose". Why does the law prosecute people who murder pregnant women as murdering TWO people? Because if the murderer had not acted, the child would have been born. And if some woman had decided against abortion, that baby would have been born.

The right to choose should also include the baby's right. But in our society we place more importance on animal rights than we so an innocent fetis.

ADOPTION NOT ABORTION.

Xavier Onassis said...

Rita - At what point do you define a "human being"?

The sperm cell?

The egg?

The zygote?

The morula?

The blastocyst?

Tell me. Where does "life" begin and where does a woman's choice end?

Do you support the Death Penalty?

Is it your opinion that a pregnant woman with no resources should be forced to bring a child to term, give birth, be unable to raise it properly, watch the child make poor decisions and then watch it be executed?

Is that the Right Wing, Conservative, Christian definition of a "Right To Life"?

sue hanes said...

Joe - 'the days of ozzie and harriet'

I lived in America then.

Yes, those days were good for me.

But they were not good for everyone.
~~~
Have you ever seen 'Field of Dreams' when John Kinsella says to son Ray Kinsella: Is this Heaven:
Ray looks over at his wife and daughter and says Maybe this is Heaven.
After giving that much thought I decided that Heaven could never be here on Earth unless it was Heaven for everyone.
~~~

And that is how it was in the ozzie and harriet days.

For some it was Heaven but for others it was just Hell...

And well, for me Heaven won't start until everyone gets there.

sue hanes said...

No, Joe. That is absolutely not what I meant. And it simply isn't true no matter how clever you are at twisting words and their meaning.

But these days there is a hostility in the air.

People saying things - mean and vicious things - then saying Oh I don't really take that seriously.

Well, I take it seriously.

And that's what my comment is all about.

How far is this visciouness going to go until it becomes real.

Like a Civil War of words and negative thoughts. Not with guns, but with harsh words.

Rita said...

Gee Aristotle, which part of the ADOPTION NOT ABORTION didn't you understand? Before you are spout off your dailykos answer, let me explain to you that I have two beautiful great nieces that have been adopted, so you can eliminate that argument.

I believe a fetus is a human being when God gives that fetus a "soul". Of course I'm not necessarily assuming you believe in a God, but I do.

I cannot fathom being so arrogant that I would bet a human life that I knew EXACTLY when the fetus/baby is a life. So, I would err on the side of the fetus (GOD FORBID). If our court system says innocent until proven guilty, why should our abortion system say kill until you can prove otherwise.

As to the death penalty. Last time I checked, I have not heard of any fetuses murdering someone, so I would NOT support a death penalty for a fetus. Now if that fetus grows up to be some vile piece of humanity that delights in serial murders or killing cops, then, I support the death penalty.

If you can provide me a link where a fetus went out and murdered some innocent person, then I would agree with aborting that fetus.

Please provide the link in your next response and maybe your point will be valid.

If you can't do that, then go back to your dailykos fan base.

sue hanes said...

XO - 'a pregnant woman with no resources forced to raise a child...'

Maybe we should put forth the effort to find the father of these fetuses and make him stand along side the woman to raise the child.

It still takes two, doesn't it?

sue hanes said...

Joe -

'sue, not a very good comment'

Joe, I said it first that it was not a good comment so you are just being redundant.

As usual.

The Eisenhower era was also the McCarthy era and the "duck and cover" era.

That mythical, idyllic era of white, Christian, Republican, post-WWII, American world wide supremecy was actually an era of extraordinary paranoia and fear.

Death by nuclear holocaust was never more than 20 minutes away and the John Birch Society (the precursor of the Tea Party) engaged in inflammatory hate rhetoric that had neighbor turning against neighbor in an anti-Communist hysteria that brought America down to the level of the Soviet Union and East Germany.

School children were taught that ducking under their desks and covering their heads with their arms would protect them from hydrogen bombs.

I remember being taught the difference between a tornado siren and a nuclear war siren.

As a side note, while all of this was going on, Ronald Reagan was starring in movies with a chimpanzee and hosting a TV show sponsored by Borax.

sue hanes said...

LR - I read on the internet just tonight that the Lone Ranger movie with Johnny Depp is going to take place after all.

Maybe you could get a bit part as the horse's a**.

LR - I forgot to mention that JD will be playing the role of Tonto, but I'm sure you could be cast as
Silver's behind.

Xavier Onassis said...

Rita - I don't even know what "dailykos" is. How about YOU provide a link?

But I'm glad we have established that "a fetus is a human being when God gives that fetus a "soul".

So at the egg, blastocyst and embryo stage during the first trimester, prior to it becoming a fetus, God has not spent a soul so it is OK for the woman to abort her pregnancy during the first trimester or use a morning after pill like Levonelle.

Good to know you support abortion prior to that whole "fetus/soul" stage.

That at least gives women SOME choice.

Rita said...

Jo-Joe, you seem to draw out the finest example of the most intolerant "tolerant" party. When logic and reasoning get in the way of their MSM talking points, they always resort to the name calling and (now at least) have learned to interperse their comments with the comic book *&$#%^&* words so you won't eliminate their posts.

It's just so cute and...and...and...really leaves nothing on which to debate on a reasonable level.

I figure I'll wait until one of your nonsense commenters find their way over to my non-political site and make a comment to turn on a comment moderator.

Xavier Onassis said...

Rita - I didn't resort to any name calling or special characters and I look forward to your response.

Rita said...

“The word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.’” Jeremiah 1.5

Aristotle, I interpret this passage to mean that if we have a soul, we have it before we are even born.

And you didn't answer the adoption, not abortion question. My great nieces were both born in a state where their biological mother could have easily swept them from her womb and our lives. She had that free option (and make no mistake there were have been a PPH clinic that would have provided that free), but thankfully she did not. Our family is eternally grateful in having these two precious little girls in our lives. So, would it have been better for their imprisoned father and their drug addicted mother to sweep their souls off of this earth, like some stinking garbage? Should their biological parents flushed them away and their sweet little lives?

Liberals want to claim they make a difference while killing off innocent babies, saving the whales and the serial/cop/child killers and then actually try to convince me they are the enlightened ones.

Yeah, I'm the heartless b@$T@rD Conservative that believes all life is precious. And I believe those who delight in murdering children and police officers and anyone else are not under the same protection as innocent fetuses. I know....I'm REALLY far out there, right?

And just for the record, I wasn't referring to you about the name calling. I haven't called you any names and I was referring to someone who accurately states on their blogs they like "cursing" and will continue to use it.

sue hanes said...

Rita - Are you calling me a 'nonsense commenter?'

If you are, those are fighting words.

But really, where's your sense of humor.

I was laughing so hard when I wrote that I could hardly type.
:-)

Rita said...

Sue: First and last comment to YOU. You always seem to assume I'm referring to you. The "nonsense" comment was not directed toward you, but the &**%% comment was. You claim your comments are because you are bi-polar. Maybe they are and maybe they aren't. I had a father-in-law who was bi-polar. He never used it as an excuse. I will withhold what I believe about you until I read more.

Until that time, I just ignore everything you post because I've seen enough of your f-you comments to me and Jo-Joe to convince me that discussing anything with you is a complete waste of time.

Not only do I wish you well, I wish you good mental and physical health.

Xavier Onassis said...

Rita - "The word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.’” Jeremiah 1.5

Aristotle, I interpret this passage to mean that if we have a soul, we have it before we are even born."

Well, that's not what you said. You said "I believe a fetus is a human being when God gives that fetus a "soul".

So which is it? Do we have a soul before we are born or do we only get a soul when God gives a soul to a fetus? Do you accept the word of Jeremiah or do you have independent thoughts and analysis to share with us?

Oh, and by the way, my name is not Aristotle. Aristotle Onassis was Jackie Kennedy's 2nd husband. Xavier Onassis is a fictional entitity I use for blogging and commenting on blogs.

And I think I DID answer the abortion vs. adoption decision. It's the woman's choice. She gets to decide. No one else.

"As to the death penalty. Last time I checked, I have not heard of any fetuses murdering someone, so I would NOT support a death penalty for a fetus. Now if that fetus grows up to be some vile piece of humanity that delights in serial murders or killing cops, then, I support the death penalty."

Question: How many murderers started out as unwanted, neglected, abused children whose "mothers" wanted nothing to do with them? If their mothers had had control over their own reproductive cycles, perhaps they wouldn't have given birth to unloved, disfunctional thugs who grew up to be cold blooded killers. Just a thought.

sue hanes said...

Rita - What I find interesting here is that you seem to only read my 'impetuous' comments and skip over the good, serious ones. And I know there have been plenty of those. Especially directed to Joe, for whom I have much respect.

I wrote about being bipolar so that other bloggers might see what prompts me to sometimes make hasty, you might say rash statements.

But my doctor told me that it is not 'what' I say that is from being bipolar, but rather the manner in which I act. As when, like a child, I get insulted and withdraw my comments. And I don't mean to use being bp as an 'excuse' as you say, I know I have to be held accountable.

One thing I do find happening on a couple blogs is the automatic negativity shown because I'm not Conserative.

As for your skipping over my comments, be carful you might actually smile and worse - miss something honest and helpful.

By the way, after a resentful remark as you made about me, I find your gratuitousness a bit shallow and out of place.

My physical health is just fine, thank you except for a strained back (I am 66, you know) and am recovering from a nasty spider bite on my thumb which I think will never heal.

As for my mental health, if you hadn't read on my blog that I am bp, how could you tell the difference betweem me and the other commenters on these blogs.

I am doing just fine, thank you, Rita and actually getting better all the time.

XO "That mythical, idyllic era of white, Christian, Republican, post-WWII, American world wide supremecy..."

Do you know someone who lived through that "era" who thinks that?

It was during that "era" that George Wallace, a Democrat, refused to allow blacks into white schools.

And he represented the majority of Democrats.

It was during that "era" that the KKK, mostly white Democrats, was rampant.

Yeah...we should put our faith in you guys.

Joe said...

XO: "As a side note, while all of this was going on, Ronald Reagan was starring in movies with a chimpanzee and hosting a TV show sponsored by Borax."

One of the beauties of America is that even a "B" movie star can hold political office. Witness a comedian congressman and an inexperienced "community organizer."

Honest Abe was a failure in politics, in business and as a lawyer. But he became president, freed the slaves and finally united the country. And guess what...he was a Republican.

I was intrigued by, but never really liked "Twenty Mule-Team Borax."

Rita said...

Joe: This is me, shaking my head. In my real life I am friends with logical liberals that can participate in a good debate. For those that can only spout ridiculous twisting of words into meaningless drivel, I realize they have nothing to contribute to a reasonable debate and they think they are a lot smarter than they actually are. I reserve my energy for the logical debaters.
