The problem is, Joe, which self are you talking about.
If I don't want to forgive someone is it me that's at fault, or that the other person refuses to admit that there is a problem. Isn't that 'self', also?
sue: Yes. The essence of sin is self, selfishness and pride.
It is common to each of us, which is why Paul wrote, "...there is no difference, Jew or Gentile, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Adam was too proud to realize Eve had disobeyed God. Eve was too proud to admit she had succumed to the statements of satan. Satan was so proud that he thought he should be God.
Pride keeps us from forgiveness.
Truth is, we must learn to forgive others, even when they neither know nor will admit that they need it.
That's how Jesus forgave us, and it is how He told us to forgive others.
I was born in Miami, Florida, the son of an Air Force officer, traveled the world, was saved at age 17, and have served the Lord since. That's me on the left and my lovely wife, Bonnie...the pretty one...on the right.

FOUR PRINCIPLES THAT DEFINE TRUE CONSERVATISM:
1. Respect for The Constitution
2. Respect for Life
3. The Smallest Possible Government
4. Individual Responsibility
This blog is about my philosophy of government, which is a very conservative philosophy.
You are not required to agree with me (although you would be better off if you did).
I am biased toward conservatism, and make no apologies for that.
Freedom means not being controlled by the government, that being the very reason we declared our independence from Great Britain.
Government's job is not to provide things for people, but to provide the opportunity for people to persue the things they want via the vehicles of freedom and responsibility.

Joe - This is so beautiful - not just the performance by Kevin Levar, but the words are so important and meaningful.
Forgiveness is something I'm struggling with at the moment.
It's really not that I can't forgive, but that I feel that when I've been wronged I need to - yes, forgive - but then move on.
Perhaps the person who wronged me is trying to send me a message, and it is best not to try to go back.

(If you can figure that one out you are really as smart as I've alway thought.:=)
Have a happy Sunday, Joe.
sue: Forgiveness/unforgiveness is almost always about self.
Joe - Food for thought.

Hard to live out...no?
ahhhhhhhhhhhh:-)
Joe - Think really hard now.
Isn't there someone you can't forgive(you know who I mean), and a group of people you won't forgive(you know what I mean.)
Doesn't what you say apply to you, also?
sue: You're a little confused about what forgiveness is and how it applies.
For instance, I can't forgive you for what you may have done to your neighbor.
Joe - Finally you are wrong about something.
'Sue, you are a little confused about what forgiveness is and how it is applied.'
You see I'm a MORE than a little confused.

sue: I have written a post over at Joe's Jottings that may help.
