This Has Never Happened Before?

Look, there have been four presidents before President Elect Donald Trump who lost the popular vote and won the Electoral College vote. They were:

John Q. Adams

Rutherford B. Hayes

Benjamin Harrison

George W. Bush (Florida notwithstanding).

They all turned out to be "legitimate" presidents and served the country in that office.
o now we have:

Donald Trump

Donald Trump, by ANY measure, is the legitimate next president of the United States of America. Anybody who says otherwise is a stupid box of hot air, and probably a Democrat hack.

So tomorrow he will be today he yesterday he was inaugurated.

HAPPY
INAUGURATION
PRESIDENT TRUMP!

Well, Adams is an outlier because he didn't win the electoral vote either.

The Tilden/Hayes election had three states in which each party claimed it's candidate won. Another elector was declared illegal.
Somehow all the contested votes went to Hayes when a back room deal to removed Union troops from the south was fashioned. Another outlier.

The legitimacy of the supreme court decision in Bush v. Gore is still argued. So it's not obvious that Bush won the electoral count fairly.

So in a sense this has only happened once before, in the Harrison/Cleveland election.
It is quite clear that the popular vote has decided presidential elections and the purpose of the Electoral College can be reasonably questioned.

He' has been lawfully elected but under circumstances that have only happened once before so no talk of mandate, please.

Ducky: The purpose of the Electoral College was to prevent a very few areas of high population from deciding all elections. It has worked well.

Bush v Gore may be argued by sycophants, but the Court ruled in his favor and He won without reasonable question.

I never mentioned a mandate. In fact, Donald Trump is going to have to prove himself to me, as I really expect and hope he does.

I just think liberals owe Trump the respect they insisted was owed to President BO (the amateur president).

How many storefronts, cars, and other property were damaged or destroyed by people who objected to PBO(tap) being elected? It is only Democrats who stoop to those despicable tactics. Always has been.

If your intent is to set the bar of legitimacy and consequence for an American President at the John Q Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harris level, that is an INCREDIBLY low bar indeed and proves what happens when our system elects a President that didn't win the popular vote.

These were among THE WORST and ineffectual Presidents in American History.

Now, George W Bush, he is in a class all his own!

He was a gibbering, drooling idiot who pandered to the worst, lowest, common denominator of American society. He brought not just the United States, but the entire world to the brink of total economic meltdown, and he started 2 wars based on fictional intelligence that resulted in the death and dismemberment of thousands of American soldiers and HUNDREDS of thousands of foreign citizens. Wars that we are still trying to extricate ourselves from.

But even George W. Bush, that knuckle-dragging, Texan-wannabe, faux-hillbilly, even he was smart enough not to go out of his way to pick a fight with Australia over refugees.

Trump is a clown and a buffoon. His cabinet is filled with generals and billionaires. And yet these ignorant, backwater rubes who elected him think that this guy, who is married to a super-model (his 3rd wife after cheating on his first two), who has never attended church a day in his life, who couldn't quote a single Bible passage, who lives in a solid gold penthouse in downtown Manhattan, who brags about sexually molesting women, who would rather climb a tree and tell a lie than stay on the ground and tell the truth...they think THIS guys is the hero of the working man. They think THIS guy will miraculously bring back coal, steel and manufacturing jobs (they are never, ever coming back...never).

The level of collective stupidity and gullibility that it took to put this man behind a desk where he can launch nuclear weapons without any checks and balances is terrifyingly astounding.

You stupid, stupid people.

All that being said...glad you're still around Joe! I've missed you. So glad you are hale, hearty and well. The world of political debate would be smaller and less fulfilling without you and your completely wrong opinions.
