WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Calling President Bush “Bush” was okay but calling President Obama “Obama” isn’t.

Isn't that a double standard ?

Does anybody remember "Dubya?"

Then Krystal Ball (Come on...could that honestly be her real name?) espouses her theory that Obama’s somehow being uniquely disrespected as president when referred to by his last name.

OK, so Kornacki is not one of my favorite MSNBC people (neither is he my least favorite liberal), but give the guy a break, for crying out loud!

The tweeters were just plain wrong.

We have ALWAYS called presidents by their last name, and often by disrespectful nick-names.

Why should Obama be treated special?

Can YOU think of any reasons?

Toure (another strange name, in my book) thinks it might be because he's black.

Referring to him as "Obama" is certainly more respectful than the way you normally refer to him.

XO: You mean "President BO (the amateur president)"?

Yeah. I have deep respect for the office, but I have very little respect for him as president.

He has moved us along the road to fundamentally changing into The Divided States of America.

I will give him the same respect that you libs, progressives gave George Bush...... NONE!

… where was Obama when our fellow Americans needed him in Benghazi?? You didn't cancel campaigning. You ran off to Vegas and talk shows. Your comment “We dont leave people behind” is disgraceful. You have no remorse or shame. ABC News… you are helping Obama and his Administration on this cover up. “Obama called the SEALS and they got Bin Laden, the SEALS called Obama and they got the shaft..what did obama do exactly other than some photo ops and soundbites about the people who lost their homes and everything else in the Hurricane Sandy? Why didn't he get crucified as Bush did at Katrina. It took Bush 5 day and it's taking Obama 3 months!!!!! Obama sat in theSituation Room regarding the hurricaine looking engaged, then later makes a speech proclaiming he will do anything to help because ‘We dont’ leave anyone behind” as Americans. What about the 4 Americans in Benghazi? Where is the pictures of Obama in the Situation Room trying to help them? Why did Obama tell the military to stand down and not help? How an we trust him? Politicizing a hurricaine disaster won’t help him when most Americans know what he did in The Obama Benghazi Libya Scandal. Obama stood idly by and WATCHED the attack and killings of 4 Americans and DID NOTHING. Do you think this man would protect you?

AND YOU WANT US TO GIVE HIM RESPECT? ARE YOU KIDDING?

Thats a very interesting statement! I think there's a lot of truth in it, but unfortunately I can't think of any at this time..!

The sooner you get your head out of your butt, the sooner you will see that what he said had alot of truth in it.

Therefor I won't bother to answer you. Not that it really matters, you can never argue with a Stupid Liberal. They seem to always blame others for Obama's faults, so why bother?

Doncha know that if you call Obama, "Obama," and you don't like his policies, it is only because you are racist. Otherwise you'd use "President Obama."

Racist bigots - that's what all who disagree with Obamanation are.

Ducky's here said...

No Glenn, it is not because you are racist per se.

It is because you see American demographics changing and you are terrified that the days of your white elitism are over. Which they are.

That's the linch pin to understanding the intense anger the fringe right feels toward an essentially right of center president. It has nothing to do with policy and everything to do with your perceived position in America.

Oh Joe, in case you are going to play Grammar Girl, linch pin, linchpin, lynchpin and lynch pin are all accepted spellings.

We've been through this. Embassy attacks are common regardless of nation or location.

There were 103 casualties and 53 deaths under President Chucklenuts and I'm sure you said nothing.

As I said above, it's just your inability to accept changing demographics and the withering away of the imaginary (and I do mean imaginary) exceptional southern culture that you assume, wrongly, was the foundation of the founding.

Pitch till you win.

No he hasn't Joe. You and the rest of the fringe are out there refusing to come in from the cold.

The rest of us (the majority by far) are quite able to work this out at the grown ups table while the fringe right and the religious right sit with the children.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Ducky,
You just showed again that you have no idea about my beliefs. Your assumptions are just that - assumptions and not based in reality.

The only thing I'm afraid of demographically is the take-over of liberals (no matter what skin color) and Muslims.

My dislike of the current president is his agenda to destroy this nation economically so as to bring it to total socialism, as outlined in the Cloward-Piven strategy. Meanwhile his actions in foreign affairs are downright treasonous. Both reasons are enough for him and his ilk to want to disarm law-abiding citizens.

Joe - There is nothing wrong with calling him 'Obama.' They are talking about calling him President Obama in a more formal setting. In this case I tend to agree with that. It sounds better to call him President Obama. But with all that's going on in our country - that is the least of our problems. I say go with Obama - especially if you have something to add to solve our situation.

Our child president will do just fine. Also our amateur president.
I'm sure it has gotten much worse that that on certain blogs. Your names for him are mild compared.

Ducky's here said...

For com -- I'll just post the data. Getting into a name calling match with the fringe right is not productive.

On June 14, 2002, the terrorist group Al Qanoon, which was suspected to be an al Qaeda branch, sent a suicide bomber into the U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, killing 12 people and injuring 51 others. Nearly a year later, four were convicted of plotting the bombing, which blew in windows and left body parts all over the sidewalks near the embassy.

On February 28, 2003, Gunmen on motorcycles attacked the U.S. consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, killing two police officers and wounding five other officers and a civilian in front of the consulate.

Late in the evening of May 12, 2003, gunmen entered Al Hamra Oasis Village in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a compound known to be inhabited by Americans and other Westerners.

On July 30, 2004, three suicide bombers targeting the Israeli and U.S. embassies in Taskkent, Uzbekistan managed to kill two and injure nine others.

On December 6, 2004, terrorists stormed the heavily guarded U.S. consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, occupying it and taking 18 hostages for a time. When the incident was over, they had killed nine people, including four security guards and five staff.

Then came the second term:

On March 2, 2006, just two days before President Bush was scheduled to visit Pakistan, a suicide bomber targeted the U.S. consulate in Karachi, killing four, including a US diplomat believed to be the target, and as many as 50 others.

On September 12, 2006, four armed gunmen stormed the U.S. embassy in Damascus, Syria. In the 20 minute attack, they threw grenades and fired automatic weapons at guards. In the end, one person was killed and 13 wounded.

On January 12, 2007, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the US Embassy in Athens Greece. Thankfully, it was early morning, and the building was empty and no one was injured.

On July 9, 2008, men armed with a shotgun and pistols stormed the U.S. consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. At the end of the five-minute battle, three Turkish policemen were killed.

Remember, Grumpy, the left is here to help you live the life of the mind.

Ducky's here said...

@Glenn --- The only thing I'm afraid of demographically is the take-over of liberals (no matter what skin color) and Muslims.

---

Takeover by Muslims? That's fascinating, Glenn, since Muslims have been very successful in America and are generally busy prospering rather than taking over.

But you tip your hand. You are afraid of being displaced by "the other". The left you fear may be white but they sure are using those food stamps and welfare and medicaid to buy votes, right?

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Ducky,
The "other" as you call it, are the ones who are taking away our freedoms, who are taxing us to death, who are spending this country into oblivion and socialism. Any sane person would be afraid of that.

As for Muslim, they are taking over many countries in Europe simply by pretending assimilation. The religion of Islam is also a political system - the two cannot be separated. Islam is a violent belief system which has as a primary tenet the overthrow of the entire world, the eradication of Jews and Christians, but especially of Jews. The problem with you liberals is that you've never studied history, but pick and choose sound bites from history to make it appear you are actually not as ignorant as you factually are. Try studying the Qur'an, the Hadiths, and the whole history of Islam, and if you are not afraid of what they are doing to the world, as well as to the USA, then you are not paying attention.

Now go find some liberal sound bites to respond. I'm through with your total ignorance - I have more important things to do than to argue with a fool.

Ducky's here said...

Glenn, we've been through this before and I've asked you what texts (outside Pam Geller and Robert Spencer) you've used to study Islamic history. I find it particularly galling that someone like yourself continually accuses others of not studying history.

I doubt you have ever spent any significant time in Europe and you certainly haven't spent any time in a Muslim country(I have).

I doubt you have Muslim neighbors (I do, terrific people) and so on. You simply spout bigotry from ignorance and it is a terrific bore.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Ducky,
I've studied the Qur'an itself - I have it sitting on my shelf. The translation I have is by the only accepted translator for the English language, Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall.

I've read many, many excerpts from various Hadiths in many, many publications.

I have books by Dr. Ron Rhodes, Randall Price, Mark A. Gabriel, Ph.D (former professor of Islamic History at Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt); a Muslim converted to Christianity M. Rafiqul Haqq; former Muslim Abd El Schafi; Dr. Norman Geiser and Abdul Saleeb; a couple more by American scholars, and, yes, some by Spencer also (nothing by Geller - another of your assumptions gone wrong). These are all on the shelf behind me. I have also studied much from the Internet, etc.

One doesn't have to spend time in another country to learn the ideology of a religious/political belief system. I dare-say there were plenty of people in the USA who knew much about the Nazis without ever traveling to Germany.

I do not have Muslim neighbors, but during Spring through Fall I have a ministry among Muslims, Hindus, atheists, and just about every other belief system you can imagine. I have friends as missionaries in Muslim countries who could tell you a belly full.

Most Muslims in the world are pretty much like most calling themselves Christian in the world - they are in name only, i.e. secular Muslims. They, like secular Christians, have no real idea what the belief system teaches. Many claim that faith to avoid death.

A Muslim tenet out of the Qur'an is that you are to deceive your enemy with friendship until you are in a position of power. So you don't know if your neighbor is a secular Muslim or one who is deceiving you.

Obama has proven to be a rank socialist. He would like nothing better than to ruin the economy (as he is trying to go over the debt ceiling without congress) so as to drive the U.S. into more government control. Our economy must be first wrecked, and he's doing a damned good job of it.

Obama is constantly trying and misleading the American people to achieve his devious agenda.. This incompetent clown, and his First Wookie have been trying to take over our freedom of choice, our liberties, our way of live everyday lives, more people dependent on government subsidies and higher taxes for the "rich" at first and then the rest of the population. He seems to be saying that it’s his way or it’s his way... if Congresses won’t see it his way than he’ll invoke another executive order, The last time I consulted the Constitution it said that only the House can initiate a spending bill so the president can only spend what Congress tells him to spend. Sure I know that all presidents use executive orders from time to time, but it is not the number of executive orders, but what they were used for that counts. As for Obama, it do it his way or he’ll just DO IT HIS WAY!
Obama is using his presidency to bypass congress on matters that he should not be using them for. On one hand he wants to now "enforce" laws on gun control and on the other he does not want to enforce immigration laws. These are areas that congress, House and Senate should be ruling on and not ruled on by executive order because it is too hard to get congress to agree with him. This is not a war time situation in these areas.
In his self-serving speech yesterday he said, ““I’m a pretty friendly guy, I’m a nice guy friendly guy,””
President Obama was never a "nice guy" he said “ the Republicans stance is “absurd,” and he advised the Republicans that they “have two choices here. And if they don’t comply, he’ll do it “his” way.
And then he through out that old scare tactic if his saying if he don’t get his way and the Dept Ceiling is not raised, “ that Social Security checks will be delayed and Military pay will be delayed, Veterans Benefits will be delayed, Medicare payments will be delayed, etc, etc, BUT did you notice, he didn’t say that Food Stamps for Booze and Cigarettes, and for Lottery Tickets will be delayed. NO he wouldn’t dare! Tell that to the people who are expecting new Obamaphones!

Redfish said...

Very good post Political Chick and you've made some very good point's!
Just in case he don't know it, and he acts as if he don't know Ht, or he just don't care. he wasn't elected as our Dictator. If Congress or the House fails to go along with his insane policies, that is their Constitutional right, they have every right do do so if they please. That is the reason why they are there, it's called "Balance of Power"

The man thinks he is a king, by the way, trying to bypass congress with all his executive orders. He is a tyrant and is working his way to dictatorship.

The fact that ignorant people like you vote is how we get people like obamanation in office in the first place.

Xavier Onassis said...

Political Chick - "... his First Wookie..."?!?!? Are you talking about the man's wife? Seriously?

How does that any substance to the public policy discussion?

"The last time I consulted the Constitution it said that only the House can initiate a spending bill so the president can only spend what Congress tells him to spend."

That's true! So every penny the government has authorized to spend was first approved by the House and then by the Senate.

Since they voted for and approved the expenditures, it is extraordinarily hypocritical for anyone from either body of Congress to vote against raising the Debt Limit that allows the Government to pay the bills that Congress racked up!

Do our Senators and Representatives really not understand how the government works?

They should all be required to watch this during Orientation.

Xavier Onassis said...

Political Chick - "Obama is using his presidency to bypass congress on matters that he should not be using them for."

Obama is using his presidency to do exactly what a majority of the American electorate voted for him to do.

"President Obama was never a "nice guy". Really? When did you meet him? Spend a lot of time together up at Camp David did you? You should try to confine your comments to something you actually know about.

"BUT did you notice, he didn’t say that Food Stamps for Booze and Cigarettes, and for Lottery Tickets will be delayed. NO he wouldn’t dare! Tell that to the people who are expecting new Obamaphones!"

OK, you truly are insane. The Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program vouchers which you derisively refer to as "Food Stamps" cannot be used to purchase any of those things unless a corrupt "Small Business Job Creator" decides to violate federal law and launder the money to line his own pocket.

Legitimate businesses block those purchases at the register.

PRO TIP: If you don't know what you are talking about, don't speak! It undermines your credibility.

You are the silliest, least informed man on the internet.

The American People reelected Barack Obama to carry out a progressive, secular, democratic agenda and bring a degree of social justice and fairness to a country that has for too long been dominated by obscenely rich, petty, greedy, small minded, unintelligent, ignorant, religious fanatics who have completely lost touch with the principals and ideals and aspirations that this country was founded upon.

America had lost it's way. In 2008 we voted to fix that. in 2012 we doubled down.

By 2016, the Tea Party/NeoConservative/Religious Right/Palin/Bachmann/Aikin/Mourdock wing of the Republican Party will have completely imploded and destroyed themselves.

Unless they change their platform with regards to immigration, women's reproductive rights, the role of religion in public life, gay rights and economic equality, they will never, ever, hold power again.

They are on the losing side of history.

Xavier Onassis said...
