WHAT LIBERALS DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE REAL AMERICA

I double-dog-dare you to watch the whole video, especially if your are a liberal, progressive and/or leftist.

If you can watch this and not understand why we are an exceptional nation, you have neither heart nor intellect.

Many totalitarian nations would not have lifted a finger to rescue one of their captured. To them, he is just another by-product of war.

But real Americans place such a high value on human life, freedom and on the individual that this type of effort is standard operating procedure. You might want to check this out.

Thanks and a hat tip to: GeeeeeZ.

Yeah, I watched the whole thing. Nice story. But it hardly makes us exceptional. Unless you are implying that England, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, Israel, Russia, Turkey and every other civilized nation in the world wouldn't put forth a similar effort to rescue a downed soldier. Nothing "exceptional" about it.

But I love it when people like you use phrases like "the Real America". Meaning YOUR whitewashed, uncritical, unquestioning, myopic, fetishistic view of how you define America that is mostly unsubstantiated by actual reality.

Sure, we'll rescue that downed soldier, give him a hero's welcome in the Officer's Club and buy him drinks.

Then we'll discharge him and forget him. He might wind up with PTSD from his ordeal.

But we won't help him.

He might not be able to adjust to civilian life. Might have trouble holding down a job. Might get evicted from his apartment and have his car repossessed.

But we won't help him.

He might wind up at a busy intersection begging for spare change, but we won't help him.

We won't even look him in the eye.

He might die with no income, no health care, no home, no job and no family.

And "the Real America" let's that happen a hundred times every single day.

Because in "the Real America", no one cares about anyone but them self and everyone else is on their own.

Joe - I watched this over on Z's blog and it didn't surprise me that they went to all of the trouble to rescue one of our men.

And I'm glad they did. We do place value on just one man's life - the way it should be.

Thanks for posting it here, too.

XO: "you are implying that England, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, Israel, Russia, Turkey and every other civilized nation in the world wouldn't put forth a similar effort to rescue a downed soldier."

As usual, you can't read your way out of a wet paper sack.

"Many TOTALITARIAN nations would not have lifted a finger to rescue one of their captured."

I guess you count England, France, Germany, etc. as totalitarian.

And in typical vile manner, you are cynical beyond belief.

We DO help veterans who suffer from PTSD, in spite of what you and your liberal buddies in the MSM think. You are flat wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

As usual, you hide behind "might, might, might."

Every "might" comes with a "might not."

EzzZee: What in the world are you talking about? Are you so illeterate that you can't put a coherent sentence together? Is that somehow on topic? What deal was mentioned in this post's video?

The rule here, Bub, is be on topic or get out.

I doubt whether you know how to do that.

You're a typical, ignorant liberal, unable to tell your face from your posterior.

Bye.

What were we doing there in the first place?

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Ducky,
We were over there as part of the Cold War. Perhaps you should study a bit of history to understand what all went on between the end of WWII and the fall of the Soviet Union. We won the Cold War, but the Vietnam part of it was a loss. Studying the history of Vietnam after the Japanese left will give you some insight as to why we initially went over there.

The problem with the Vietnam War, as with the current nonsense in Afghanistan, is that the politicians send our men to war and then tie their hands as far as how to conduct said war. When the politicians get involved, we will always lose.

Ducky: "What were we doing there in the first place?"

It's a good question. I did not support going into Viet Nam.

However, once we were there, we were there.

The story is one of valor, bravery, stick-to-it-tiveness and the importance of every human life.

You DO understand that, right?

Thanks Glenn, more proof that the right can be severely irony challenged.

Your thesis of "exceptionalism" is a bit strained, Joe. Essentially you are saying that only non totalitarian states produce heroes?

Kind of bizarre but start where you like in history. May I direct you to the history of the Soviet female rifle squads at Stalingrad. Of course Stalingrad was a day at the beach. But go where you like.

Being a fringe right winger your command of history and your jingoism simply unnerves us.

Just heard that John Boehner was re-elected as the Repubs Speaker
Looks like the Repubs won`t even stand up to their own Speaker. So how are they going to have any chance against Barack Obama?
You people are pathetic!

This is another very sad day for America. We are surrounded by cowards on the right and Communists on the left.

Superman was a hero. He faught for truth, justice and the American way.

Totalitarianists are not heroes.

But I really predicted that you and your ilk would not understand that. I was right.

Outstanding rebuttal! I don't know how to respond.

So I'll just say, "Supercilious twaddle. Something you, SK, excel at.

Joe, no fair stealing from me.

You can do better than that.

Shaw - No he can't.
