OK, exactly what point are you trying to make here? That he gave the same speech to 2 different audiences 60 days apart? So what? You saying speeches should be like a debutant's ball gown, wear it once and throw it away? That's just ridiculous and so is this post.

Never in the history of the United States has naked political ambition trumped the Constitution! As what he has done today with the more than six million illegal immigrants from Mexico!
.This is an Executive Branch on steroids that is over-reaching their authority over Congress just to win an election by pandering to the Latino's! Another desperate attempt to destroy America.
This is blanket amnesty, and it's an open invitation to everyone in Mexico and Latin America and everywhere else to walk in here
Obama wants to rule not govern and he will stop at NOTHING to do so!
One more example of what zero and his DemocRAT regime thinks of the Constitution of the United States and federal laws. If the Constitution or laws don't say what they want them to, THEN, the Constitution, the laws and the American People can just go to Hell.

Professor - "This is blanket amnesty, and it's an open invitation to everyone in Mexico and Latin America and everywhere else to walk in here"

No it's not! You are absolutely and completely wrong.

It only applies to immigrants who are in the country NOW, today, who came here when they were younger than 15, who have lived here continuously for at least 5 years.

They must be in school, have graduated high school or served in the military. It does not apply to anyone convicted of a crime.

It is not amnesty or a path to citizenship. It only defers deportation and it's only valid for 2 years.

So take a breath, calm down and at least try to understand the actual facts before getting your panties in such a twist.

A President's administration has broad prosecutorial discretion. As evidencedby the announcement that they will not make any effort to defend DOMA.

There's nothing unconstitutional about this.

Take a chill pill before you stroke out. After all, you're going to have to take 5 more years of this. Pace yourself.

Please. Be more specific.

"prosperity never trickles down"

Does he THINK? Man, thank GOD there are people who HIRE when they're prosperous, BUY when they're prosperous, and give to charity when they're prosperous..geeez

re the immigration executive order he's making,(he said in March of this year he couldn't do it by exec. order, by the way), I'm wondering how they're going to PROVE when those kids got here,. My gosh...we can't get any information on illegals and suddenly they're going to have enough information that they can do this?

You mean like all of those rich "job creators" who have been benefitting from the Bush tax cuts for all these years?

So where are the jobs?

The "job creators" have been getting a free ride for years. We've been coddling them like they were precious little babies.

So where are the jobs?

There is no shortage of capital. The big corporations are sitting on their savings like Smaug guarding his hoard.

Supposedly because of "uncertainty".

When has free market, capitalist system every promised "certainty"?

Never! It's all about risk! You spend your money, you take your chances! The only "certainty" is that there will winners and losers. God Bless America!

The biggest problem facing our economy is that the conservative, right wing, Captains of Industry would rather sit on their capital and watch the American economy tank than see another 4 years of a BLACK man in the WHITE house.

Xavier Onassis said...

Leticia - Just curious...have you ever given a speech in public?

Do you even know what a telepompter is, or how it works, or who the first President was to use one, or how ubiquitous they are for virtually EVERYONE speaking in front of a camera?

Xavier Onassis said...

Leticia - Even WITH speech writers and teleprompters, Dubya still misunderestimated the strategery value of, of, strategery.

Heh heh heh.

First of all, it was the Dream Act that Obama said he couldn't do by executive order. This is not the same thing, it's Marco Rubio's alternative to the Dream Act.

My gosh...we can't get any information on illegals and suddenly they're going to have enough information that they can do this?

This must be applied for. It's up to the applicant to provide proof. School records, a HS diploma, military record, no criminal record. Not hard to verify.

Your concerns, fears and paranoid imaginings about DemoRATS trampling the Constitution might be eased if you, and the perfessir, had even the slightest clue what the hell it is you're against. Information isn't the enemy. Anonymous, angry and misinformed is no way to go through life, son.

XO: "...he gave the same speech to 2 different audiences 60 days apart? So what?"

So he has no new ideas, has a limited vocabulary (needing to express the same thoughts in only one way), and does what no other president has ever done: use the same speech over 20 times. Those were just two examples.

As for jobs, please list for me the people or companies you've worked for that were not richer than you. Maybe you know some who were actually poorer than you.

Wake up!

There are certainly some "fat cats" (the overwhelming majority of whom are Democrats). But the majority of people of wealth DO create jobs as best as this depraved economy will let them.

One of my favorite Bushisms.

z, you conveniently forget the role of demand in job creation. Without demand do businesses just go out and hire anyway?

After Bush destroyed 40% of middle class wealth did you expect a hiring surge? You should have Joe give his supply/demand lecture. He gives it to us all the time.

Joe said...

Ducky: "...you conveniently forget the role of demand in job creation. Without demand do businesses just go out and hire anyway?"

Of course not! Without demand, businesses close their doors.

You can't run a business that sells something nobody wants. Nor can you price your product so high that no one will pay for it.

It is the businesses that meet demand (you know, the ones that make money to use to pay employees), that are able to keep their doors open.

I'm wondering if God Forbid, and Obama gets re-elected, will he blame the last 4 years on himself?
Being that our delusional president has blamed his failures in the past on George Bush, such as the U.S. economy, China’s economy, the Middle East, the Japanese tsunami, President Bush, Racial tension, all of his false promised like promising to close Gitmo and failing to do so, the unemployment numbers, gas prices, soaring energy costs, the Republican Congress, the Arab spring, the naming of Communists/Socialists/Progressives to his various Czar positions, the Bowing to Arabs, and now the amnesty for illegal aliens to increase his chances for re-election. … the list goes on and on.

Narcicists blame nothing on themselves...ever.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - "So he...does what no other president has ever done: use the same speech over 20 times."

That's completely false! Politians from County Clerks to Presidents have used the same speeches on multiple audiences since the beginning of time! They just never had the ubiquity of the internet and YouTube to capture it and present it as some sort of bad thing.

When you have a speech writer wrire a speech, you are going to use that speech as often as possible. Otherwise, what's the point of writing a speech? They aren't one-offs.

This is another area where you have clearly demonstrated that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Don't look now, but people DO work. Corporations do hire, many people are successful.

Ducky, now you're blaming BUSH for this 39% drop in family wealth? WOW...how long will it be Bush? :-)

Obama just got himself more votes for the election.
The democrats are a bunch of liars when they say they are the champions of the middle class, especially Mr-everyone gets a fair shot and everyone plays by the same rules.
I would think that the middle class taxpayers who always foot the bill would beg to differ that this policy will create more competition for legal citizens who are out of work an who always paid their fair share.

I said,

First of all, it was the Dream Act that Obama said he couldn't do by executive order.

I was wrong to say that. I have no proof he said, specifically, he couldn't enact the Dream Act by executive order.

I watched the video. The question he was asked had to do with Temporary Protective Status, a legal designation that he rightly said didn't apply. He then went on to explain that he doesn't have the legal authority to stop deportations and he doesn't.

What he did was defer deportation to a designated group of immigrants who meet certain criteria by issuing temporary (2 years) work visas. It's within his legal authority to do it. To call it amnesty is ridiculous.

Amnesty is what Reagan signed in 1986. Here's what Ronnie said in a 1984 debate with Mondale,

"I believe in the idea of amnesty for those who have put down roots and lived here, even though sometime back they may have entered illegally."

Obama hasn't said anything close to that. If Congress doesn't like what he did, they can pass a law overturning it. Also, executive orders can be reversed just as easily as they were implemented by the next pres. Maybe you should press Mittens on whether he will reverse it on Day One. I doubt he'll answer.

One can only hope that the American public will do their job and protect America from a repressive dictatorial regime taking over in American AND to protect the constitution, will do their job in November and throw this Dictator out.

America is being take over by Marxists/Communists,, and Socialists ... there is no question about it.

The question is ... when will wake up up and take it back. It has happened in many countries in he past, It can happen here.

This election os going to be stolen by Obama with his dictatorial antics such as declaring an amnesty to 800 thousand illegal Mexicans in America. That is only the beginning. Obama must be stopped from this sort of thing, he has by passed Congress too many times and enough is enough..
The sooner we get rid of this Muslim Socialist Dictator the better our country will be. If he can make laws without congress, then he can make a law declaring himself Dictator-in Chief. He's not too dam far from it right now. I'm tired of the arrogant purple lipped fuck wiping his ass on our constitution, and equally tired of congress, them spineless flakes, of letting him getting away with it. Maybe we should throw'em all out!
Sorry, just a little rant because I'm tired of watching this country go down the toilet.

Radioman said...

I have a problem with him side stepping Congress.

He was not elected dictator; he was elected President and there are ways to get things done without acting like a dictator.

He didn't do this because it was "the right thing to do." If that was true he would have taken this action within his first 2 years in office. He could have had this rubber stamped with no effort.

Everyone needs to realize that now this will be extended to the parents of these children. We can't break up families can we?

Joe, the 39% drop in wealth was measured from 2007, the start of the recession, to 2010. Most of the loss was due to the collapse of the housing market. Under which admin. did that occur? Who was pres. when the economy crashed? People keep blaming David Berkowitz for the the Son of Sam murders. Isn't there a statute of limitation on blaming people for what they actually did? When will you start blaming Bush? That's the question.

I think Obama has been way too timid and accommodating to Republicans. He was rolled on the stimulus. It was too small and too much went to tax cuts. He's finally calling them out for their unprecedented obstruction.

The fact is, more private sector jobs have been created in 3.5 years under Obama than in 8 years under Bush. Bush stomps Obama in the creation of govt. jobs. Source

I don't blame Bush entirely. It's been 30 years of Conservative economic policy, tax cuts and deregulation, that pushed us over the cliff in 2007. I throw Clinton in there too. He signed the repeal of Glass-Steagall. Your big complaint is Obama hasn't fixed the Republican disaster fast enough so you want to go back to what caused the disaster. Makes sense.

The Dems took control of Congress in 2006. What legislation did they pass in the year before the meltdown that caused it? If you're going to bring up Fannie and Freddie, the congressional hearings in the mid aughts were centered on their accounting practices. Nothing to do with sub primes which were encouraged by Bush and Greenspan.

Try reading this report from the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission.

We conclude widespread failures in financial regulation and supervision
proved devastating to the stability of the nation’s financial markets. The sentries
were not at their posts, in no small part due to the widely accepted faith in the selfcorrecting
nature of the markets and the ability of financial institutions to effectively
police themselves. More than 30 years of deregulation and reliance on self-regulation
by financial institutions, championed by former Federal Reserve chairman Alan
Greenspan and others, supported by successive administrations and Congresses, and
actively pushed by the powerful financial industry at every turn, had stripped away
key safeguards, which could have helped avoid catastrophe.

Ducky's here said...

Actually Craig, I think Fannie and Freddie would have been fine if they hadn't been partially privatized.

The board figured they could double the stock price but as unregulated entities like Countrywide and Ameriguest started writing so much junk Fannie had to join the game to make a bundle for the board and the executives.

Their share of the mortgage market actually declined during the Dodd/Frank chairmanships.

But be that as it may, Joe will be happy to explain to us how the American investment banking system and the entire mortgage market were controlled by minority members of the finance committees.
