THE ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER-A Different Tale

Two Versions, Different Morals

OLD VERSION :

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN (newly updated) VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green...'

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, "We Shall Overcome."

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake, while he damns the ants. President Obama condems the ant and blames President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight..

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government GreenCzar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2012.

Z: This election is the most critical one in the history of the USA.

How disgustingly disgraceful of him to threaten the SCOTUS with such an obvious ploy. He is such a petty little man. You would think his outburst would sicken the people against him?
He is getting to look more and more like the dictators he envies.

How's rehab going Joe.

I finally have my hand back to 100%

Oh, and your fable is hyperbole and utter nonsense.

What ever happened to intelligent conservatives? I think they are all brain dead from listening to Glenn Beck.

Jalo: President BO (the child president) would LOVE to do away with the separation of powers, would love to be re-elected and if he is, it will be USA's last election as a Constitutional republic.

Ducky: "I think they are all brain dead from listening to Glenn Beck."

I'm not. I don't listen to Glenn Beck.

Hyperbole it might be (but I think not so much), but it does illustrate the direction we are going and have been since the election of President BO (the child president).

Talk about hyperbole! Ducky actually acknowledged that there were once intelligent conservatives? Oh. Wait. That isn't hyperbole, that's adolescent aspersion.

Joe said...

LR: As I have shown on this blog on numerous occasions, liberals in general and Ducky in particular, do not understand the literary use of hyperbole...unless, of course, you count their incessant use of bad statistics to over-emphasize their liberal points of view.

"Adolescent aspersion" is much more in keeping with their mind set. That's what they know how to do best.

DARNED STRAIGHT, MISTER!

Obama OUT in November!

And Ducky: hyperbole?

When the doper down the street, who never goes to work but slings dope on the corner at all hours and is young, healthy, has the SAME healthcare as me -- who has been paying taxes all my life and actively contributed to society for over 50 years, there is something truly WRONG. It IS the ant and the grasshopper.

Let me put it another horribly judgmental way: I am TEN TIMES -- or more -- the person that idiot is. My VALUE is TEN TIMES MORE than his. Deserving healthcare, him or me? Me and people like me every day of the week. People who CONTRIBUTE.

BZ: To a liberal, "making a contribution" means the government forcably taking money from you and helping you "contribute" some of it to everyone else.

Joe said...

Ducky: "How's rehab going Joe."

Rehab is a form of torture, but it is doing its job, as a procedure that usually takes 6-8 weeks has taken only 2 weeks so far and I will be going back to work on the 10th of April...with the doctor's full approval.

I have no hip (or knee) pain, only some very stiff muscles.

100% glad I had it done.

Dude's got a job and he thinks he's all that and a bag of chips.

Joe - I have been saying that all along - on my Really cool blog - that it is all about the Vote.

And what a cute picture that is - of the Grasshopper and Ant - story.

Thanks Joe.

Nice avoidance.

I live in the midst of Ghetto Central in Sacramento, Fornicalia, off of Power Inn and Gerber, and see it every day. My guess is that you live in the northeast of the US and are a well-educated elitist. Where do YOU live, sir?

Tit for tat. And to be completely AVOIDED.

I've been quite amused following this article to see how the liberals reacted. All I can say is, THE TRUTH HURTS, DOESN'T IT?!?!?!

GEC: What's funny is how they can't see the ridiculousness of their responses.
