MORE EVIDENCE OF THE BRILLIANCE OF OWS-They Even Have A Library!!

Somebody enlighten me.

Did the food come from organic farm, non-profit donors?

What about the sleeping bags? Where did they come from?

Most of all, where did they find those brilliant philosophers?

I particularly liked the last "lady" who gave us a visual of her IQ and expressed it with her eloquent message.

Yeah, if you're settling in for the long haul a library is nice to have.

I brought a stack of old books to Occupy Boston and exchanged them for Adam Smith's "Theory of Moral Sentiments".

They didn't have a library at the last Tea Party bus in?

Ducky's here said...

Joe, why does the Occupy activity offend you so much?

Mark said...

Tea party events last one day or only part of one day. These stupid Liberal OWS protests are into their third week by now, at least. They've gotta have something to occupy themselves.

Might as well read Marx and Engels. Maybe they can get other hare-brained ideas on how to destroy America.

There is no need to offer a library at a tea party protest. There isn't enough time.

Mark said...

They offend me, Ducky, and if you had any common sense, they would offend you as well.

Trekkie4Ever said...

They have no shame or self-respect. I am mortified by what I have been seeing in these videos!

And yet, the Tea Party gets a bad rap, for what? Working, being neat and respectful?

Unbelievable.

Xavier Onassis said...

There's no need for a library at a Tea Party rally because the participants have no reading comprehension skills! They are unable to absorb information from the written word. Remember when Katie Couric tried to get Sarah Palin to name a single magazine or newspaper she reads? She couldn't do it! Because she doesn't read!

And Joe, the food, the sleeping bags and all the rest are either brought by the participants themselves or donated by fellow OWS members or sympathizers.

What? You thought there was some enterprising young capitalist who set up a sleeping bag kiosk to turn a profit off the protestors? Sorry dude, that's not how we roll. We take care of our own.

Mark - Tea Party events only last a day or two because a) the participants don't have enough brain cells to focus their attention any longer than that and, b) no one, not even die hard conservatives can listen to that goonbabble drivel for longer than a couple of days without wanting to eat a bullet.

XO: The sleeping bags and other items and facilities were ALL made by some rich captialist who made a killing selling them to unsuspecting OWS members, promoters or benefactors.

Joe said...

Duck-Duck: Don't smear the Tea Party and then complain when I cast aspersions on OWS.

That would be inconsistant of you and we all know you major in consistancy.

Joe said...

XO: If you consider the speeches made at Tea Party ralleys inferior to the prattle put forth by the majority of OWSers, you have lost all touch with good sense, civility and purposefulness.

But I'm not surprised.

So far, not one OWSer that I have heard speak can put together a corherent sentence or idea. They are all Sophomoric whiners who couldn't find the appropriate orifice into which to stick their pointy little heads.

Please explain the magnificent thought pattern of the guy with the cardboard TV camera.

The world needs to know.

It is all nothing more than ethereal vapor evaporating into the gasiousness of the atmosphere.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - What? You think somebody made a run to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought a bunch of sleeping bags to take down to the OWS site? WTF? Do you really think that's how that went down?

Ducky's here said...

Fess up Joe, you're upset because they're having fun.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - Even the droning from the guy with the cardboard blessings sign makes more sense than anything that has come out of the pie holes of Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann or Ron Paul.

Xavier Onassis said...

Ducky - Bingo. The biggest, nagging fear of the right wing fundamentalist types is the suspicion that somebody, somewhere, might be having fun.

Xavier Onassis said...

Here you go Joe. Maybe this Fox News interview with one of the OWSers will make more sense to you.

http://youtu.be/fLud2Op7eAc

Joe said...

XO: "What? You think somebody made a run to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought a bunch of sleeping bags to take down to the OWS site?"

No, Dingbat. They fell out of the sky.

Or maybe there's a bunch of little old ladies sitting in their rocking chairs knitting sleeping bags to donate to the OWS bunch.

Where do you think those sleeping bags came from?

They were donated.

So, where did the person who donated them buy them?

I'm telling you the bags, the food, the blankets and everything else "donated" came from some manufacturer who sold them to somebody for a profit.

I saw pizza being served to OWSers. So where did the pizzas come from?

"Why, they were donated by a pizza shop...FREE!"

Well, White Dude, those shops did not make them for free. It cost them and affected their bottom line.

You liberal/progressives think there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Wrong!

Joe said...

Ducky: You think that guy spoke in coherent thought patterns?

No wonder you miss the point of almost every post you read.

BTW, Ducko, disagreement does not equal offence.

Another stupid twist of words.

Ducky's here said...

I saw pizza being served to OWSers. So where did the pizzas come from?

------

Great story. The orders have been called in from all over the world.

Food has been donated, Joe.

I spend time at the Catholic Worker House baking fresh bread that's donated to the demonstration.

It's kind of like the loaves and fishes, Joe. There's enough to go around.

As far as sleeping bags, well they didn't come from Goldman Sachs.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - Take a look at the protestors. I guarantee you 98% of them already had well used sleeping bags and camping gear in their basement or trunks. And those that do have camping gear will be sharing with those that don't. That's how we do things on the left.

As far as the donations go, believe it or not Joe, not everyone is motivated by the desire to get rich. Some people make donations out of the goodness of their hearts because they share the same values and feel like it's the right thing to do.

You wouldn't think I would have to explain these concepts to someone who calls himself a Christian, but apparently I do. Charity and shared sacrifice seem to be foreign concepts to you.

Joe said...

Ducky: What LR over at "Important Stuff...Or Not" said is true!

There is no reasoning with a liberal.

You are incapable of rational thought.

Donated stuff is paid for by somebody.

We run a food pantry at our church and provide groceries for about 10,000 people per month.

We give the food to them...free.

So there is no cost to them.

Most (not all) of the food is donated to us to give out free.

Some comes from idividuals, some directly from grocery stores.

None of it is free, because the grocery stores had to buy the product from the distributor, or the broker or directly from the farmer.

If the farmer donated it, he had to NOT sell it for a profit.

Bottom line: IT WAS NOT FREE.

Somebody had to pay for it somewhere, and you leaches are willing to take and take and take, calling it "donated" by orders from all over the world (whatever in the heck that means).

Joe said...

XO: See above.

Donated or not...pre-owned or not...IT IS NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!

What is wrong with your mind?

And as for your "lecture" about Christianity...stick to something you have at least an iota of knowledge about.

Christianity isn't it.

Xavier Onassis said...

Joe - In a previous post you stated that Wall Street Billionaires do not harm you one iota.

So what is it about these Wall Street protestors that are doing you so much harm? Why do you care so much? What has your panties in such a twist that you can't think or talk about anything else?

Seriously dude, you need to calm down. You're about to pop a valve in that leaky old heart of yours. Then Ducky and me are going to need to chip in more of our tax dollars to get you patched back up. Again.

Craig said...

You liberal/progressives think there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Joe, Do you really think the protest is about someone making a profit?

It's about the abuse of the "free market" and excesses of laissez faire capitalism.

Complicated issues that aren't easy to articulate in a 5 second sound bite and don't fit on a bumper sticker like "lower taxes, less regulation".

You're in favor of billionaires getting a free lunch. XO, Ducky and I have shown you, definitively, it was deregulation, non compliance and lack of oversight that lead to the financial meltdown. Not the CRA or govt. forcing anyone into making those bad loans. They made lots of profit off bringing down the economy.

I can point you to two specific pieces of deregulating legislation that are directly responsible for the the types of derivatives, not subject to oversight, that turned Wall Street into a casino with a $62T nut. Gramm, Leach, Bliley and the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000. Look them up.

It's not just that those banks got a bailout, they suffered no consequences. The 'too big to fail' banks are now bigger. They got $15T in interest free (lunch) loans from the Fed.

You defend tax cuts for the "job creators" who already pay a lower % than their employees. Their taxes are lower than they've been in 60 years. Where are the damn jobs? We heard the same crap when Clinton raised the top rate to 39% (still 11% lower than under Reagan) and what happened? Higher taxes on the wealthy DO NOT kill jobs.

A rising tide does not lift all boats.

There is no reasoning with a liberal.

You are incapable of rational thought.

I'll look foe a rational, reasoned response, Joe.

Craig said...

for, not foe.

That absolutely eludes Joe and the fringe right for some reason.

Only laissez-faire capitalism can save us from communists like Obama.

It's a bizarre mindset which I just can't fathom.

Ducky's here said...

@Joe -

In other words, it's not being given to you and you're really steamed.

As Xavier said, we subsidized your lat opertion. Don't get greedy.

Xavier Onassis said...

You know, it occurs to me that Google provides Blogger.com at no charge to the bloggers that use it. I'm surprised Jo Joe would avail himself of such a blatantly socialist platform. One would think he would insist on paying for the privledge of blogging lest some enterprising young capitalist be denied the opportunity to turn a profit.

After all, nothing is free, right?

I guess that library is needed so America's future intellects can learn more hand signals. You know like finger wiggles and all and "f" you middle fingers. Oh the future of America is sprawled out like a bunch of gutter rats costing cities money for police and sanitation clean up they can't afford.
I guess the lefties missed the memo about how there is no more slop in the public trough.
But hey as long as it's a bunch of so-called intellects who think they know something I guess they get a free pass and alot of "free" stuff.

Jo Joe reminds me of The Black Knight in this famous scene from "Monte Python and the Holy Grail".

He is so detached from reality he doesn't even know when he has lost the battle.

He thinks saying "No you didn't" is an actual argument.

Joe said...

XO: No argument at all. Just saying that you, Craig and Ducky didn't show me anything at all (other than the same old, tired liberal denials, since you are unable to face truth).

Xavier Onassis said...

Wow. I just can't even imagine what it is like to be so walled off from reality.

It must take an incredible effort to ignore actual facts and just say "NOPE! Don't believe it!"

You are like the 3 Monkeys all rolled up in one. You manage to be blind, deaf and mute all at the same time.

Well, maybe not mute. But if you willfully choose to be blind and deaf, being mute would at least be less embarrasing.

I used to enjoy the intellectual challenge of sparring with you, but this is starting to feel like I'm abusing a mentally handicapped person.

It might be kinder for me to let you live in your fantasy world unchallenged.

You are clearly not equipped to deal with the world as it actually exists.

Sad.

I find it comical how your liberal commenters here believe that insulting the intelligence of the Tea Party gives credence or leverage in their arguments in favor of the OWS protesters.

They can spew their rhetorical nonsense all they want. The truth is the Tea Party are a collective group of people who work hard during the day, and have better things to do with their time then to be found sleeping on a sidewalk or whatever til late in the afternoon. That's disgraceful.

Which is why our rallies last only a few hours. We get straight to the point and don't waste a lot of time and we ALWAYS leave the premises as we found them, clean. And, I have yet to see any Tea Party member using foul language or obscene gestures to get their points across. That,in itself, shows lack of intelligence and lucidity.

Lone Ranger said...

Proof of the vacuity of these people is that since 9-11, leftie protesters have not come out with one single protest song worth listening to. During Vietnam, the troops loved to listen to protest songs. Many of them have become American classics.

And they call conservatives stupid?

Truth #13. Liberals have an inflated sense of self-worth. They are like house flies that criticize the air-worthiness of a Stealth fighter. (Sarah Palin, George W. Bush, ad infinitum are morons.)

Although, as the comments indicate, it's tough getting anything played these days. Put it on NPR and the fringe right stooges try to get you defunded. And the robottions that play the crap that passes for country these days won't touch it.
If you aren't in an area that has some good college stations you're out of luck. You're in radio and Joe was in radio -- you know the deal.

sue hanes said...

Leticia - Foul language or vulgarities - as some call it - are not due to lack of intelligence.

Swearing - as I call it - can be a stress reliever and even fun.

It is a conscious choice - to use it or not.

A problem arises when the user offends the nonuser and brings on a breach of relationship.

One part of swearing I have learned to avoid is the one that is forbidden in the 10 Commandments.

It seems that Someone is offended by that.

Joe said...

Utter liberal stupidity.

It breeds anger and devalues humanity.

As this cockroach speaks, I've mentioned it before. I don't have the time available that you seem to have an abundance of to run here and there to keep up with all that happens in the blog world.

I'm STILL waiting for your facts without the left slant.

And, I'm still trying to find out what obscene profits are.....

Xavier Onassis said...

Scotty - The Health Care and Pharmeceutical industries are perfect examples of Obscene Profits.

Let's say you get cancer.

Whether you are insured or uninsured doesn't really matter.

You are now facing hundreds of thousands of dollars of out of pocket expenses just to stay alive.

Got a house? You'll have to sell it for whatever you can get.

Got a 401K? Cash it out and take the 10% tax penalty.

Got vacation time at work? Max it out and go on FMLA if you are lucky enough to work for a company that offers it.

Still can't cover the cost of your medical treatments? Put a jar with your picture on it at the checkout counter of your local convenience store and hope a neighbor drops a few quarters in your jar.

Meanwhile, the doctor who can't treat you until you can make a down payment and commit to a treatment plan has multiple McMansions and boats at the lake.

The pharmeceutical companies supplying the drugs can't afford to give them to you for free, but they can afford to take every employee in their world wide corporation (and a guest) to the Atlantis Resort in The Bahamas to celebrate the fact that they reached their 2010 revenue goals. (I dated a women who worked for Teva Neuroscience, I went on one of those trips. The money they spend is OBSCENE)

They achieved this goal by paying the way for thousands of doctors to attend "conferences" where the sales pitches for new drugs took place between rounds of golf at exclusive clubs and nights at expensive hotels with high priced hookers.

In the meantime, sick patients are faced with the choice of putting themselves and their descendants into perpetual poverty in order to extend their lives for a few years while making rich people richer.

I consider the entire medical profession to be the recipient of obscene profits.

"You are going to die without my help? Then I will take EVERYTHING you and your children own to save your life. Of course, no guarantees! Hope it works!"

Scotty said...

Nice story XO. But, what are obscene profits?

Joe said...

XO: It was SO much better back in the days when doctors worked for a chicken or a pig.

He didn't HAVE the medicine those obscene drug companies manufacture, but it sure was better.

He didn't have a sterile environment to work in before those obscene equipment manufacturers came along, but it sure was so much better.

In those days, almost everybody, rich or poor died if they got cancer, but it sure was so much better.

Back then, a patient with arthritis learned to deal with daily raging pain, with not so much as an aspirin to ease it, but it sure was so much better.

Bi-Polar patients were institutionalized in those days, because they had no psychosomatic drugs, but it sure was so much better.

Schizophrenics roamed the streets or were placed in those same institutions to waste away in a horrible eternal stupor, but it sure was so much better.

If you developed glaucoma, you went blind, plain and simple, but it sure was so much better.

Are there abuses today?

You becha.

But it sure is so much better.

Let's see I go to college for 12 years to became a doctor costing well over 200,00. Then I intern 19 hours a day for 2 years.
Then I have to pay obscene medical practice insurance thanks to liberal lawyers who made their "Obscene" money by chasing ambulances and suing drug companies like John Edwards and after all that they are supposed to make $200,000 a year?
Did you know it takes 17 years for a drug to be marketed starting for research to testing to trials?
But the government or should I say Obama gave a half trillion dollars to a company who was a big donor and an 800 billion dollar stimulus that did nothing but help his public sector supporters.
Government is the problem and they are too big to not fail.

You have erected another strawman, XO.

This all started with lamenting about obscene profits that the various corporations were reaping.

I'll say it again, what are obscene profits?

I'll help you. Are they 50% cent of gross earnings? 70% or maybe 2%.

Is it, maybe, a dollar amount? Inquiring minds would like to know...
