HEADED FOR THE LAST ROUNDUP

Renowned tax evader (and former Senator), Tom Daschle, has weighed in again on a part of the so-called "stimulus" bill which he helped author.

The part in the spotlight is the part where there is extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens.

In his own words: "...health-care reform will not be pain free. Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

As a senior, then, I should ignore my heart condition, ignore my hip pain, ignore my blown out knee, ignore my gout, ignore my edema and ignore my insomnia. Just live with it, or not, as the case may be.

I don't think I like Tom Daschle any more.

Come to think of it...I never did to begin with.

In England, anyone over 59 cannot receive heart repairs or stents or bypass surgery because those procedures are not covered by GB's wonderful socialized system of medicine.

If that had been so this past year in the U.S., you would not have to be reading this right-wing-extremist blog.

I have had 5 heart stents implanted over the last year, and would have died without them.

Maybe Canada's system of health care would be a better choice.

Consider the actress, Natasha Richardson.

She died after a skiing fall while in Canada.

In the U.S., Natasha would have been med-flighted to a hospital in 30 or 40 minutes.

In Canada, her ambulance ride to the nearest hospital took almost 8 hours.

Is it possible that if Ms Richardson had had her accident in this country (where the liberals claim we have the sorriest health care in the free world...as well as the not so free [read: Cuba] world), that she might have survived?

I can't say for certain, but I'd put a 30 minute helicopter ride above an 8 hour ambulance ride any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Remember, our esteemed Senators and Congressmen have their own health care plan that is a Rolls Royce of a system and which they are guaranteed for the remainder of their lives.

Furthermore, they would not be subject to President BO's suggested national health care plan.

And they don't even work for a living.

Are you actually expecting the elitists to care about the little guy?

Let me see...

He ignores taxes, but we should pay them.

He gets his physical conditions treated, but we should ignore them.

Did I get that right?

If the system is looking at Health care like this I wonder what they are thinking about Euthenasia,(SP) and treatment of the mentally Challanged or the Disabled???? I am too old for their plan so I might as well pack it in!! and to think my senator is co-sponsoring socialized medicine, or the like.....

Oh my gosh, I never realized that, that's horrible!!

"Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

I was going to say I was stunned by that, but really, I'm not. What a truly idiotic, moronic, down right stupid thing to say. Wow.....really WOW!

Jennifer: Scary, isn't it?

Natasha's trip to the hospital took 40 minutes and she twice refused treatment and signed a waiver the second time that she didnt want it. If she had gone the first time like they told her she would have been alive. There was NO 8 hour trip, this is a lie.

Anonymous: MSNBC REPORTS: "The medical examiner ruled her death an accident, and doctors said she might have survived had she received immediate treatment. However, nearly four hours elapsed between her lethal fall and her admission to a hospital."

ABC reports: ...Richardson refused to stay at the infirmary. Was transported to the hospital at 3:09PM and arrived at 7:00 PM.

Dr. Keith Siller of New York University Langone Medical Center told AP that an epidural hematoma "...is a very treatable condition if you're aware of what the problem is and the patient is quickly transferred to a hospital. But there is very little time to correct this."

CNN reports: Richardson was taken to a local hospitalbefore being transferred to Hopital du Sacre-Coeur in Montreal. From there she was transferred to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City."

WebMD reports: "Richardson was already brain dead by the time she reached a local hospital -- well before she was flown to New York."

People Magazine's Kathy Ehrich Dowd and Dana Kennedy report: No Helicopter Available
Why had it taken nearly six hours for the patient to arrive at a facility capable of treating her critical needs?

Witnesses agree that Richardson herself repeatedly declined to be taken to a hospital. But once it became obvious that her condition required it, Quebec's antiquated medical evacuation system played a part: the region has no helicopters to move patients from the field to hospitals in Montreal – a situation that has already stirred controversy in the wake of Richardson’s death.

"Our system isn't set up for traumas and doesn't match what's available...in the States," Tarek Razek, director of trauma services for the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal..."

So let's give Natasha her share of the blame for the delay, but let's give Canada the rest of it.

What I reported was what was being reported by the press at the time I wrote my post.

Subsequent reports changed the timeline but not the point.

Hope you can get that.

Go back and read the Bloomberg article. The writer of the piece quoted Daschle as saying "health care reform will not be pain free" but the rest of the statement, about seniors accepting their condition, was the WRITER'S comment, not Daschle's. What's more, the Bloomberg story was an opinion piece, not a news piece.

Also, Tom Daschle has no role in this legislation.

Also, the article is from February.
