THE EYES HAVE IT

The eyes are said to be windows to the soul.

Whether or not that is true, there is a certain look that many people have in their eyes. It is an intense wide eyed (some would say: wild eyed) look that is common to those who have risen to a certain level of responsibility for which they inwardly feel ill prepared, but for which they outwardly demonstrate a need to prove themselves.

These people will often say whatever it takes to make themselves feel right at a given moment, even if that means stretching the truth.

(OK. Let me make it clear that there are lots of "wide eyed" people who are just normal, run-of-the-mill honest people with normal aspirations and behaviors. I'm not talking about those folks.)

Take a close look at Nancy Pelosi.

Is her day-to-day expression one that exudes confidence? Or does it suggest an intensity that comes from needing power at any cost?

In 2002, according to the testimony of Former CIA Director, Porter Goss, who had been a Republican Congressman at the time, Florida Democrat Senator Bob Graham and Kansas Republican Senator Pat Roberts, Nancy Pelosi and other lawmakers, including Nancy Pelosi, were briefed on the subject of tactics used to extract information from on suspected al-Queda operatives, including the infamous "waterboarding."

According to Goss', Graham's and Robert's testimony, the briefing was thorough and left no mistake about what was involved in "waterboarding," and a number of other techniques used to obtain the necessary information.

At the time, Nancy Pelosi was the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee.

It seems incredulous, had she had any objections to the interrogation techniques, that she would not have spoken up.

Nowadays, she claims unequivocally, that she had no knowledge of what "waterboarding" was or that it was, in fact, being used.

A few days ago, Nancy Pelosi said, "We were not - I repeat - we were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation methods were used." Yes, the Bush Office of Legal Counsel said the techniques "could be used," she explained, "but not that they would."

Porter Goss wrote in the Washington Post that the members of the Senate Intelligence Committee "understood what the CIA was doing," and "gave the CIA our bipartisan support."

He said he was "...slack-jawed to read that members claim to have not understood that the techniques on which they were briefed were actually to be employed."

The funny thing is, Pelosi had been pushing for a "truth commission" to investigate the CIA's use of "enhanced interrogation" techniques like "waterboarding" - until Republicans started shining the spotlight on Pelosi herself.

She has backed off of seeking the truth.

When you are a bald-faced liar, the light of truth hurts your eyes.

I think Pelosi's look comes from a combination of botox and skin that has been stretched tauter than a drum head.

Yeah…this is going to raise some hackles, rankle a few feathers, and just plain piss some folks off.

Liberalism is a Disease. Yep. You read it right. Disease.

I can’t fathom how, after we were attacked on 9/11, the liberal hordes in this country *still* think that it was because we’re the big bad evil Americans. All I hear from liberal friends and family (unfortunately, I’m surrounded by them…) is that we should have a *dialog*…we should talk to them (them being Islamo-fascist radicals) and reason with them, and offer to turn our backs on Israel. Then they’ll see that we’re reasonable, and they’ll be all happy and we’ll be friends and they’ll let us live.

See what the disease of Liberalism does? It makes you mentally unstable

I wouldn't call it a disease. More like a mental illness.

One looks exhausted and the other looks terrified. I guess they go together. Maybe she'll get tired enough to retire.

She knew. That's like members of congress saying they didn't have access to information leading to the invasion of Iraq, knowing full well they did.

It infuriates me especially the alleged top leaders in this country get away with the lies that they tell.

As Americans, we should expect more from our leaders, but we set the bar so low.

Hope she gets burned by the mess she helped create.

LR: If that last picture is any indication, more botox is in order (did I really say that? Shame on me).

IMHO: You are not alone in thinking liberalism is some form of mental illness.

Shoprat: She is exhausted trying to remember which lies whe told about which subjects.

bluepitbull: We may have set the bar too low, but some of them have VISITED the bar too often.

Tom: Sadly, eventually we all will get burned by the mess they created.
