- I was born in Miami, Florida, the son of an Air Force officer, traveled the world, was saved at age 17, and have served the Lord since. That's me on the left and my lovely wife, Bonnie...the pretty one...on the right.
There Are But A Few Rules To Follow
1. Absolutely no foul language (including the use of asterisks). If you are not man or woman enough to control your language, you are not welcome here...go somewhere else.
2. I am not looking for strings of commenters arguing with each other, so confine your comments to the topic at hand and address your comments to me, unless you can be exceptionally gracious and polite.
3. Since this is my blog, I am the sole arbiter of what can be placed on this blog. My decisions are final and without recourse. All anonymous comments, unsigned, will be deleted, as will ad hominem attacks against me or others.
4. Within the scope of those rules, you may feel free to have fun here (I sure will). Sarcasm, wit, half-wit, nit-wit, parody, satire, puns (especially puns), etc. are encouraged.
FOUR PRINCIPLES THAT DEFINE TRUE CONSERVATISM:
1. Respect for The Constitution
2. Respect for Life
3. The Smallest Possible Government
4. Individual Responsibility
This blog is about my philosophy of government, which is a very conservative philosophy.
You are not required to agree with me (although you would be better off if you did).
I am biased toward conservatism, and make no apologies for that.
Freedom means not being controlled by the government, that being the very reason we declared our independence from Great Britain.

Government's job is not to provide things for people, but to provide the opportunity for people to persue the things they want via the vehicles of freedom and responsibility.

We have a demoralized society
While I am not a big fan of teacher led group prayer in school, I certainly agree that our language has a level of coarseness in it that is disgusting.
Whole segments of society, white, black, latino, asian, whatever, seem unable to express themselves without the all purpose adjective, noun, verb, adverb variations of the F word...
It's effing incredible!
What's worse, even supposed cultured adults have now come around to the same...
I saw one blogger today say she resisted calling Obama names until she couldn't take it anymore.
If you cannot have a discussion with someone, even one you disagree with, without resorting to childish name calling, and looking for the worst description possible for that person, or the subject of debate, then maybe it is time to either step away, or learn how to be polite.
For me it is the do unto others clause...
DM: In my way of thinking, if a man (or a woman) is not man (or woman) enough to control his (or her) language, he/she is not man (or woman) enough to control many other things as well.
That may be, Joe (although you carry it to the level of neurosis) but your graphic implies that swearing is allowed in school while prayer isn't.
It's the other way around.
Swearing is not permitted but prayer is although it cannot be coerced.
Ducky: You have not walked the hallways during school hours. If you had you would realize that allowed or not, every third word among older elementary, middle school and high school kids is some kind of vulgarity.
The favorites are S and F. They also major on C, B, the other F word, and assorted bodily functions.
There is absolutely no such thing as politeness and/or appropriateness among the majority of kids today...nor among way too many adults, too. In fact, the adults promote impoliteness and inappropriateness.
Parents and adults Joe... When adults of all political stripes use this type of language, why should use by kids surprise us?

It shouldn't surprise us, but it should inspire us to teach civility, appropriateness and politeness to our children...even if it has to be done in public schools.
The trouble is, leaders of the public school system couldn't care less about kids' language because of "free speech," unless that language is anti-Christian or "politically incorrect" as determined by nefarious groups of many persuasions.
Joe, i would see little difference between anti-Christian, anti-Jew, anti-Hindu, anti-black, anti-latino, etc.
All of these fall into the supposed 'black hole" of political correctness.
Have we gone too far in some instances? yes, of course, but by and large, the PC movement, at least in my opinion, has been a net plus in reducing language that many find offensive and off putting.
DM: Whose offense and whose off-putting. Is there a list somewhere of people we dare not offend? I'm offended by foul language. Does that qualify? Do I have a right to be offended if someone makes fun of my faith? Can I do anything about it? Is it that I should just suck it up while Indians, Blacks, Asians, Muslims, Hindi, Buddhists, and Poor White Trash should be protected by the feds?
