THE LIBERAL'S MIND IS SET

It's not always easy to follow the liberals line of thinking. It can get a bit confusing. Here are just a few examples/reasons.

Freedom of speech means you can say what you want, when you want, where you want as long as it is inoffensive, uses the name of the Lord in vain, is ugly and vulgar, and follows the liberal agenda.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can stand on the street corner, in a stadium or in another public or government controlled space and use the word "Jesus" or some related thought.

But it's still freedom.

Freedom of speech means you can mention Jesus as much as you want, anywhere you want, so long as it is used to swear and/or curse.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can use the name, "Jesus" in a reverent, considerate, compassionate way.

Freedom of speech means you can talk about political things in a public forum, on the street corner, in the courthouse or at a stadium.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can talk about politics from the pulpit of a church.

But it is still freedom.

Freedom of speech means you can study all sorts of things in universities, such as how to have sex, the artistic value of a painting showing Jesus being urinated on, the wonders of Socialism and Communism as opposed to the evil of Capitalism.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can freely support the concepts of Capitalism, Constitutional republics (the United States), nor can you denigrate Socialism or Communism for fear of failing the course.

But it's still freedom.

Freedom of speech means you can desecrate the flag of the United States in any way you wish.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can proudly stand and revere the flag of the United States lest you be accused of nationalism and "unique-ism."

But it is still freedom.

Freedom of speech means you can yell and scream, call women female dogs, "HOs," and other bleepable names on Maury.

Freedom of speech does not mean you can refer to women as "buffaloes,"  sluts and the like if you are not a liberal. You cannot even complement them at work.

But it is still freedom.

Freedom of speech means what a liberal wants it to mean, when a liberal wants it to mean what he wants it to mean, where a liberal wants it to mean what he wants it to mean, how a liberal wants it to mean what he wants it to mean.

Conservatives are not allowed to ascribe traditional meanings to words.

But it is still Freedom.

Can you say, "Inconsistent?"

As I have stated hundreds of times, and will continue to state thousands more---- Liberals cannot consistently live their professed worldview!!!!

GEC: I don't even know whether or not they HAVE a professed word view. They are so inconsistent that having a world view seems like it would be an inconsistency.

Ducky's here said...

Joe I don't know where to start. Your examples are absolute nonsense.

For instance, what stops you or anyone else from speaking the name of Jesus in reverence and in public?

What university art history course would study a painting of Christ being urinated on? It's more likely that you would study the great religious paintings of the Reneaissance.

Your present this fantasy world.

Are you going to tell me that the major business schools in America don't teach capitalism?
The most widely attended course at Harvard is Econ 101 ad they certainly teach the benefits of capitalism.

Then you finish up with your harping on the definition of words, i.e. your childish rant against gay MARRIAGE.

No, your list represents the usual screed of a far right winger who is upset that the world doesn't conform to his beliefs. You are simply delusional.

Yes, inconsistency is a horrible, horrible thing!

Like conservatives who claim to want the smallest government possible...except when it comes to what consenting adults can do in their own bedrooms. Then they want the biggest, most intrusive form of government they can get.

Like conservatives who decry government spending on healthcare...and then have no qualms about taking that government money for their own healthcare needs.

Like conservatives who claim to be pro life when it comes to a woman's reproductive choices...but have no problem supporting the death penalty.

Like conservatives who claim to be Christians...but who routinely exhibit the most hate-filed, angry, bigoted, intolerant and unChrist-like behavior toward their fellow human beings.

Yeah, gotta hate that inconsistency and the inability of conservatives to live their professed world view.

Jo Joe - "Freedom of speech does not mean you can stand on the street corner, in a stadium or in another public or government controlled space and use the word "Jesus" or some related thought."

I'm pretty sure Billy Graham and other Christian evangelists have made fortunes filling stadiums preaching the word of Jesus.

I work in downtown Kansas City and I see and hear street corner preachers with a microphone and a boom box preaching whatever gospel they believe in and no one is stopping them. Not even me.

"Freedom of speech does not mean you can use the name, "Jesus" in a reverent, considerate, compassionate way."

Cite one instance where anyone was prevented from doing so. Just one.

"Freedom of speech does not mean you can talk about politics from the pulpit of a church."

That is true. Not if you want to claim a tax exempt status. If you want to give that IRS status up and pay taxes on your real estate holdings and income like every other business that provides a service...preach away brother!

"Freedom of speech does not mean you can proudly stand and revere the flag of the United States lest you be accused of nationalism and "unique-ism."

That is complete and total nonsense. Heck, even I proudly flew aa American flag when I had a house.

The biggest inconsistencies here are in your own warped and twisted view of the real world and your denial of your own sick beliefs.

If your health insurance covers it, you should really go talk to a mental health professional.

If your health insurance doesn't cover it, you should switch parties, register as a Democrat and write your representative to demand changes in the law.

XO:"...you should switch parties, register as a Democrat..."

Now THAT wold be nuts!

That's not true. Your preacher can preach about issues, distribute voter guides and participate in GOTV. What they can't do is endorse a candidate or party or participate in someones campaign.

The rest of your screed is just Old Time Christian Persecution Complex.

Dave Miller said...

Joe, are you implying that only liberals are inconsistent?

Ducky's here said...

Joe, you should make it a goal to recant at least one error every post.

The facts on campaigning from the pulpit would be a good choice in the jungle of inaccuracies you came up with for this post.

Dave Miller said...

Very good point Ducky... my pastor, and any other for that matter, is free to advocate politically from the pulpit, just as he is free to preach on public streets...

Joe said...

Ducky and Craig: Several states have enacted laws against preaching in public venues. There are many, many states in which praying on the public address system before a football game is prohibited. A church must forfeit it's tax exempt status in order to promote any candidate from the pulpit...that's federal law.

Freedom at work!

Dave Miller said...

Joe, you are correct in that a church will forfeit its' tax exempt status... but that still does not prohibit it from doing so.

Regarding praying over a public address system before a game, are you in favor of allowing all religions that opportunity, or just us Christians?

Xavier Onassis said...

I'm sure that with Joe's fervent love of freedom he would be perfectly fine to hear a Muslim Call to Prayer coming over the loudspeaker at a football game.

Wouldn't you Joe?

Craig said...

Several states have enacted laws against preaching in public venues

The laws are not restricted to religeous preaching and they are specific and apply to all kinds of public oratory. It may be against the law to use amplification, impede traffic and pedestrians or harrassing a "captive audience", like people waiting in line for something.

A church must forfeit it's tax exempt status

As must all 501 c3 organizations, religeous and secular. Thems the rules.

Re "Liberal inconsistencies" poster. When I buy gas I have no idea if it's from Alaska, the Gulf, Venezuela, N. Dakota, Canada (where same sex marriage is legal) or Saudi Arabia. I'm not given a choice. Like it or not, my truck and equipment for my business run on gas. I have a choice where to buy chicken sandwiches. I've never had a Chick-fil-a, I'm sure they're tasty. I don't eat fast food.

The boycot wasn't about the owners personal beliefs but about his large donations to anti-gay groups. If you don't want the profits from your chicken sandwich money to go to causes you don't believe in, go to Wendy's. What could be more American?

Making a choice when given choice on the purchase of chicken and making a choice when not given choice when purchasing a necessity in todays world is hardly inconsistent.

I will give you Conservatives credit for being consistent. Given a choice to get your chicken from a politically neutral chicken franchise or one that monetarily supports bigoted causes, you choose the bigot.

I'm also sure your opposition to Middle East oil has everything to do with human rights abuses and nothing to do with the price of gas.

--------
Before a game involving public schools, yes. You are correct that the liberals support this policy.

However, professional teams will often have a moment for prayer or silence before a game.

Joe, does your local High School broadcast the Moroccan or Egyptian style of the adhān before games.

Joe said...

Craig: "Thems the rules."

And therein lies the problem. Rules made by a government that had no business making such rules.

What part of "Congress (read: feds) shall make no laws..." don't you understand?

"If you don't want the profits from your chicken sandwich money to go to causes you don't believe in, go to Wendy's."

You certainly have a right to eat where you want to. You also have a right to a baked potato with sour cream, bacon and chives, if you want it, despite what the government wants to tell you to eat.

The Chick-Fil-A boycott was a total flop. CFA had their highest profits of the year during that ill-conceived boycott. If those gays didn't like Chick-Fil-A' donations, let them go to Wendy's. I'll agree to that.

"I'm also sure your opposition to Middle East oil has everything to do with human rights abuses and nothing to do with the price of gas."

I'm sure you're sure of that. Truth is, it's both.

Craig said...

What part of "Congress (read: feds) shall make no laws..." don't you understand

"What", "of" and "no".

You're right. We should do away with all tax exemptions.

Xavier Onassis said...

Craig & Joe - I think we've hit on the solution. Remove the tax exemption for all the churches. The government gets a HUGE windfall to help pay for social programs and the churches are freed from the restrictions being imposed on them by that Big Ol' Meany, the fedral gummint. Then they can say whatever they want from their pulpits!

Sounds like a Win/Win scenario to me!

Joe said...

Craig: "We should do away with all tax exemptions."

Why?

Ducky's here said...

@Joe --- The Chick-Fil-A boycott was a total flop.

Still no Chic-fil-a at Faneuil Market.

More Republican hypocrisy and evidence of them being unable to consistently live their professed worldview!

Witness Oliver North "holding forth" an the bogus Benghazi "cover-up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lwgLO7TGPlY

What’s interesting about having a figure like North comment on the moral implications of an alleged cover-up is that his actions during the Reagan Administration were MUCH more egregious.

North was convicted of three out of 16 counts for his role in the Iran-Contra scandal, which included accepting an illegal gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry, and ordering the destruction of documents.

He's a convicted FELON who was found guilty of far worse crimes than any that were alleged to have possibly occurred around this hyped up Benghazi nonsense.

Republicans embrace the criminals in their midst and turn them into heroes and pundits.

Joe said...

XO: And North relates to this post How?

He doesn't. This isn't about North. This is about the Obama Administration.

"Reagan did it! Bush did it! So get off our backs if Obama did it!"

After all, in the liberal mind, the more wrongs you have the more rights you have made.
