STOP CALLING HIM WHAT HE IS NOT! IT MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID.

The ignoramuses on the left are screaming, "See! Right-Wing Wacko Christians are nuts!"

Anders Behring Breivik, the man who bombed Oslo and killed campers was NOT a Christian, no matter what he claims.

One does not get to be a Christian by declaration.

A Christian is one who follows Christ, having placed his/her faith in, and only in, His finished work at the cross of Calvary.

Others may call themselves Christians by default (that is: they are not Muslim, not Hari Krishna, not this or that and are not athiests, therefore they must be Christian), but they are not Christians.

"Christian" means, "little Christ."

If a person does not follow Christ and does not place his/her faith in the finished work of Christ at the cross of Calvary, he/she is not a Christian, no matter how much he or she protests that he or she is one,

And if one really IS a Christian, he/she does not kill people in the name of Christ, for that would not be following Christ.

Anders Behring Breivik is not a Christian, he is a mad-man.

How long do you think it's going to take before they blame Sarah Palin?
I would have thought that the Left leaning bunch would have done so by now. They already did mention Murdoch, and George Bush.

Good post Joe.

So, you are now the Grand Arbiter of who is and is not a Christian?

I was not aware that there was a test one could take or a license one could be given that would authorize a person as a True Christian.

According to the Bible, God Himself killed off everyone in the world except those aboard Noah's Ark. He wiped out the populations of Sodom and Gomorrah. He sent Divine Plagues that killed thousands in Egypt. God has a lot of blood on His hands. So by your definition, I guess God is not a Christian either?

Maybe you should take your position up with Him.

That isn't ignorance, that is bigotry.

And why is it that whenever liberal bigots want to attack Christianity, they go straight for the Old Testament? Jesus wasn't even born yet.

Here's a good test for whether one is a Christian. Do you follow the teachings of Christ?

Matthew 7:15-20 -- 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Why by their fruits you shall know them.

Simple.

@Lone Ranger --- Jesus wasn't even born yet.

What about the prophecies?

Anyway, evangelicals tend to be OT and jump straight to Revelations types.

You also seem to be arguing for justification by acts, Lone Ranger. That will drive Joe nuts.

Interesting that you can simply declare this Christian far right winger is in fact mad and not what he claims. If this were a Muslim you would immediately claim he was representative of all Muslims, just as Rupert Murdoch's tabloids and his WSJ did when they jumped the gun and declared an al-Qaeda attack.

Trekkie4Ever said...

Yes! Exactly. Being a Christian is accepting Jesus Christ into your heart.

I cannot fathom anyone being that ignorant to believe that murderer was a Christian.

XO--you are mentioning times in the bible when there was disobedience, and all those people turned from God. God is a just God, but He is also a Holy God. He gave many chances to everyone to change their ways.

Jesus changed all of that when He took sin upon Himself and became the ultimate sacrifice for every person to have ever lived.

So, when you ask the Lord into your heart, you are making a covenant with Him. We are to emulate our Savior, this man did no such thing.

There is a HUGE difference to those who claim to be Christian and those that truly are.

XO: "So, you are now the Grand Arbiter of who is and is not a Christian?"

Nope. It is well defined in the Bible, which is an amalgamation of 66 books inspired to at least 40 authors over more than a thousand years, many of whom did not know each other or each others' writings, yet who managed a common theme that describes the character of God, His love of His creation and His plan for its redemption.

That plan culminated in Christ, who is God incarnate and who freely offers eternal life in the presence of God to anybody who will come to Him in faith, trusting in, and only in His finished work at the cross of Calvary.

That's where the definition of a Christian comes from...not from me.

When you cannot see that, you cannot possibly know what either the Bible is about or what constitutes being a Christian.

You lecturing me about Christianity would be like me lecturing you about whatever you do for a living. I suspect you would just laugh at me and tell me to take a hike.

You would be right to do so. As am I to you relative to Christianity.

Breivik’s form of Christianity is precisely like the “Islam” of many Muslim fundamentalists, who are only nominal Muslims but see the religion as a bulwark against Western dominance.

Breivak sees his Christianity as a bulwark against the evil Muslim and wanted it all rolled into Catholicism to present a united front. It's a religious view completely in line with the vulgar exceptionalism preached by the likes of Dennis Prager and his deranged Christian fell travelers.

Own it Joe. You say you not on Breivak's side but your ideas a very much in tune with his.

Ducky: "Own it Joe. You say you not on Breivak's side but your ideas a very much in tune with his."

What an outrageous lie!

In the first place you know NOTHING about my ideas. Secondly, you make statements for no other reason than to incite adverse reaction. Thirdly, you are displaying grand ignorance.

Again, I must educate Ducky.

Evangelicals? You mean the same evangelicals who drove the abolitionist movement? No wonder democrats hate them! You mean the same evangelicals who are driving the pro-life movement? No wonder democrats hate them!

Now, allow ME to dig back into the Old Testament: Ecclesiastes 1:9 - What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

OK, what about the prophecies???

Justification by acts? You mean the acts of following Christ's teachings? Once again, you have proven Immutable Fact About Liberals #20.

The most basic tactic of bigots is to judge a religion by its people and not by its scripture.

GOOD Muslims believe:

(Koran 5: 33-34) "The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet and alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom; Save those who repent before ye overpower them. For know that Allah is forgiving, merciful."

GOOD Christians believe:

Matthew 5:44 - But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Another difference: The Christian God gave his only son to die for us. Muslims give their sons to die for Allah. What's wrong with that picture?

Christians don't murder people.

Well Lone Ranger, there sure weren't a lot of abolitionists in Virginia, where there?

Lot of abolitionist history here in Beantown to be sure and you can't ignore William Lloyd Garrison's contribution. Neither can you ignore the Quakers and the Unitarians.

Ultimately the start of the Civil War and the question of slavery goes to John Brown who was not a church member.

So it's a little more complicated than just claiming the evangelicals were responsible and we know that right wingers don't like complexity.

Ducky's here said...

You have nothing to do with him Joe?

You post a lot of anti-Muslim material here and your heroine Ann Barnhardt is certainly not interested in accommodation.

But Christians don't kill people, they just get the U.S. military to do the deed, right Mark? Gin up some crap about WMD and invade? You know the drill. Your righteous because it's done from a distance.

Can't see much difference between your beliefs and his, maybe you can have Lone Ranger educate us. He always gives the full story.

Joe said...

Ducky: "Christians don't kill people..."

See, you are a typical, government taught leftist. You can't read.

Mark did not say, "Christians don't kill people."

What he said was, "Christians don't murder people."

Murder is a specific, legal term, while killing includes self defense, proper wars, and the like.

I don't expect you to understand that, because my opinion of your pseudo-intellectualism is pretty low. But I thought it needed to be pointed out in case someone who CAN read happened by.

Mark said...

Ducky, you seem to have no understanding of what a Christian is. Allow me and Ann Coulter to educate you:

True, in one lone entry on Breivik's gaseous 1,500-page manifesto, "2083: A European Declaration of Independence," he calls himself "Christian." But unfortunately he also uses a great number of other words to describe himself, and these other words make clear that he does not mean "Christian" as most Americans understand the term. (Incidentally, he also cites The New York Times more than a half-dozen times.)

Had anyone at the Times actually read Breivik's manifesto, they would have seen that he uses the word "Christian" as a handy moniker to mean "European, non-Islamic" -- not a religious Christian or even a vague monotheist. In fact, at several points in his manifesto, Breivik stresses that he has a beef with Christians for their soft-heartedness. (I suppose that's why the Times is never worried about a "Christian backlash.")

A casual perusal of Breivik's manifesto clearly shows that he uses the word "Christian" similarly to the way some Jewish New Yorkers use it to mean "non-Jewish." In this usage, Christopher Hitchens and Madalyn Murray O'Hair are "Christians."

Amen! I actually heard that he's an avowed atheist. He's certainly mentally unstable.

Not a religious Christian? What is a "religious" Christian.

Anyway, he is steeped in Christian symbolism and sees Christianity as a bulwark against Islam.

He also supports the creation of a theocracy which isn't too far from the views of right wing icons like Michele Bachmann.

He is very much against feminism and wants a return to the Abrahamic subjugation of women which is common to Judaism, Islam and Christianity.

Oh he's into it all right and fealt folks just needed an example.

Give him credit, human filth like Spencer, Geller, and other fringe right bloggers take it right up to the edge. Right up to the edge but of course no good Christian would openly advocate violence (except when the military is used) so they just leave it out there.

Here's the evil Islamic scourge, what are you going to do? Right up to the edge and the "religious" Christians don't dare do their own wet work. But they're confident it will get done.
