IS HE TOO STUPID TO KNOW HOW STUPID HE SOUNDS? (Maher, that is)

Bill Maher on This Week discusses the Arizona immigration law with George Will

GEORGE WILL: "To enter Mr. McDonnell's Capitol building or to enter the House office building where Connie Mack works, you have to show a government-issued ID. I mean, this is -- this is synthetic hysteria by a herd of independent minds called our political class right now that has decided to stand up and worry about the Constitution being shredded by measures that have ample history of being sustained against constitutional challenges. Now, Mr. Maher just said, if I heard him right, that conservatives basically are racists and they like government intrusion only against people who aren't white. I mean, that's the level...

MAHER: Let me defend myself, because I was -- just what he said about rephrasing my -- I would never say, and I have never said, because it's not true, that Republicans, all Republicans are racist. That would be silly and wrong. But nowadays, if you are racist, you're probably a Republican.

This is the guy who starred in such film classics as "Cannibal Women In the Avocado Jungle of Death" and "Ratboy." The liberals have their bar set so low that they have to tunnel beneath common logic. I blame the public schools.

LR: Government schools. They used to be public schools, but no more.

The word racist doesn't even phase me any more. It has become so over used that the definition no longer fits the word.
Once again liberals abuse language to change it and pervert it. They whittle down our culture with language. They work to destroy all areas of unity so that their minority can be greater in all areas of control.
That's right. They are a minority. Power comes by pitting the majority against itself with petty issues. You attempt to break it up into smaller and smaller groups until you are the majority.

Hmm...I am a Spanish Racist Republican??!! I don't think so! In fact, there are many races that make up the Republican party.

I would say it is the idiot, ignorant MSM that are doing all the racial labeling and profiling. Not us.

This is getting old and tiresome.

ablur - 'the word racist doesn't even phase me anymore'

Racism does exist. There are racists. If the word 'racism' doesn't phase people this is not a good sign for our society.

sue - I still perk up at the word prejudice but racism is tossed around so caviler that it has lost its punch.
The sting and bite of racism and the horrors that still exist under its yoke have been robbed of their significants and power. How are those who truly suffer going to gain any traction in solving their plight.

ablur - I respect your opinion, but often those who say that there is no racism are either in denial or racist themselves.

Not to say that this applies to you, of course.

Or that Bill Maher is right that all Republicans are racist. That is an irrational statement. Just as it is irrational to say that all liberals are stupid or that all liberals hate their country.
Statements such as these border on hysteria.

He doesn't recognize the anti-Republican bigotry in his remarks.

ablur: You are quite right, of course. That's how certain words and phrases become tritisms. They lose their meaning and/or impact over time from overuse and improper application.

Leticia: Old and tiresome, indeed. Not to mention untrue. I have many white Democrat family members who call Blacks, Hispanics and Middle Easterners by names I won't even think of uttering.

sue(small"s"): "Racism" has neen so overused and misapplied that it has become next to meaningless. It now means anybody who disagrees with someone who is black or someone who is far left liberal.

PCC: Most leftists are so smug and haughty that they can't recognize their own bigotry. Nor can they see their own racism. Whenever you disagree with them, it is THEY who play the "race card."

Not lowering myself to Maher's level of hatefulness, I will say - there are not many people I dislike more.

There certainly IS a good deal of "racism" today....far more anti-white bigotry (especially from Leftist blacks), but that word has NEVER phased them!

Is there still some residual white bigorty around? Sure there is, but today, they've fallen behind blacks, among others in "hate crimes" committed. According to FBI crime stats, black Americans commit more than double the number of "hate crimes" as whites; "Interracial Crime: Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 percent and whites commit 15 percent.
Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Forty-five percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are black.
Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.
Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa."

That's because they don't believe it ever applies to them. I'm not being racist here, just factual. I was in a 'diversity' training seminar once wherein the 'trainer' stated that there could never, ever be black against white racism. He said it was due to the 'power differential' betweens the two groups.

Imo, this is an intellectual, pin-headed, politically correct crock of ----- . We're all human, & human nature is prone to sin, regardless on the hue of one's skin.

*sheesh*

That statement by that seminar leader is ridiculous on its face for two reasons; (1) "racism" is defined as "racial bigotry" - hating another because of their race alone and (2) power differentials exist across ALL groups - there are many instances where blacks have held power and abused it over whites (a recent Alabama voting rights case comes to mind).

Generally, any person who utters such self-serving nonsense does so to rationalize their own vile racial bigotry.
