SOTU

I was going to write about all the things Presiden BO (the amateur president) said in his State of the Union  address that were new. But there weren't any.

He DID reiterate his determination to get his way with or without Congress, but that is the direction he has been going all along. It isn't new, even though many have missed it.

Other presidents have issued executive orders, some more than PBO (tap), but none have bragged about it as part of their deliberate and specific agenda.

Despotism here we come! Right back where we started from.

Joe - I noticed that there were an unusual numbers of 'I's' in the SOTU address. As if he can do it all be himself.

Joe, are you saying that the use of EO's is evidence of a President becoming despotic?

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

It really is a matter of what the EOs were for. With Obamanatioin, it is all about working around Congress to push his radical socialist agenda.

Sue, conservatives have mentioned that at most of O's speeches. I noticed an amazing amount this time, too. One didn't hear it so much from Bush of Reagan or even Clinton...it was "my administration" "the White House".. "We" "Congress", but this president really hasn't a right to that because it IS "HE" who is blatantly taking over...even saying it directly!
If that isn't despotic...

Glenn....imagine if a Republican president worked quite this much around Congress?

Also, it's adorable when he says things like "to help the American people.." Absolutely brilliant...people who are primed for freebies as this gov't has made them hear that and think "Well, GOOD THING he's going around that awful Congress!"

He knows that.

I don't care which party is doing it, when it is intentionally subverting the Constitution so as to bypass congress, then it is illegal and he should be impeached.

sh: He continually exhibits clinical symptoms of narcissicism.

DM: No. I said PBO (tap)'s ATTITUDE toward them is despotic. In my 72 years of life I have NEVER heard a president say that he does not care what Congress does, he's going to do what he thinks needs to be done, quite apart from the desires of the people and their representatives.

Z: Offering freebees certainly does attract the masses to his side, doesn't it? Sure does reduce personal responsibility and initiative.

GEC: You're right. Either Party should use EOs with caution and great respect. This president does neither.

I was quite disappointed but one statement that cheered me was his statement that he would veto any bill to extend sanctions on Iran.

It may have upset "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" folks like Glenn but you can't please everyone.

What do the emancipation proclamation and the desegregation of the military have in common, Joe?

Craig said...

They're both EOs issued by narcissistic, socialist despots?

Ducky,
You really need to stop lying about people.

I certainly don't want the U.S. to bomb Iran. I think we need to bring all our troops home from the Mid-East.

You're insane.

As I've pointed out before, more people voted for President Obama, twice, than voted for all of the Republican Representatives and Senators combined! The President's agenda is a manifestation of the will of a majority of the American citizens.

The minority of Republican obstructionists are out to thwart the will of the American people.

That cannot be allowed.

X.O.

It isn't how many EOs, it is the destructive force behind them. FDR was the most socialist president in history and really screwed this country when it comes to instituting a welfare system. And of course the unconstitutional act of putting American citizens in concentration camps.

Yeah, and I'm insane. You are just a complete moronic jackass liberal lemming ready to jump of the cliff for your messiah Obamanation.

Crawl back under your bridge, troll.

G.E.C. - "FDR was the most socialist president in history and really screwed this country when it comes to instituting a welfare system."

FDR saved this country from the clutches of unfettered and unregulated capitalism that plunged us into The Great Depression.

He brought us back from the brink of complete financial collapse.

Just like Barack Obama rescued us from the DISASTROUS administrations of George W. Bush.

It is a continual cycle. Republicans run this country into political, military and financial disasters. Democrats ride to the rescue and save our country.

you are so deluded and know nothing about history. By they way, FDR's policies made the depression last longer, and it was WWII that got us out of it.

Your Obama line is really getting old. you need a new messiah to worship

Glenn, there is disagreement about FDR but it is commonly accepted that the policy which did the most to prolong the depression was his attempt to balance the Federal budget.

He was a half hearted Keynesian.

It is interesting to note that the nation which practiced full Keynesian stimulus, Sweden, was the one nation to pull out of the depression completely without switching to a war economy.
