This is the entire text of an article written on The American Spectator's Washington Prowler page.
It's all about how President BO's administration is planning an effort to censor and alter the use of the Internet, especially blogging.
Whether your are liberal or conservative, you cannot possibly think this infringement on freedom of speech by the government (specifically prohibited by the Constitution) is a good thing.
Engulfing the Internet
By The Prowler on 6.17.10 @ 6:10AM
Despite opposition by a House of Representatives majority and a bipartisan group of Senators, the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday is expected to proceed with plans to impose federal government regulation of the Internet, which would essentially treat broadband networks -- and the companies that invested more than $200 billion in private capital to deploy them -- as utilities.
The commission's chairman, Julius Genachowski, and his staff have insisted that imposing federal regulations originally written in the 1930s for the telephone is the only way the Obama Administration can gain the "kind of oversight and control that we need," says an FCC staffer with ties to another Democrat commissioner. "Look at the Gulf oil spill, that's what happens when we let corporations just do their own thing without any accountability. We can't allow that to happen with the Internet. We won't allow it."
The vote to continue the review and comment process at the FCC is expected to be a party-line vote, with the two Republican commissioners voting against the proposed regulatory scheme.
Under the Obama Administration's plan, the FCC would be able to enforce so-called "net neutrality" rules, allowing the federal government to set how broadband and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) manage the networks. By bringing broadband and the Internet under FCC regulatory oversight, the FCC would also be able to impose policies related to speech or online business models.
"The American public really has no idea how devastating these policies are going to have on free speech and the Internet," says a Republican Senate staffer. "If they are able to impose these regulations, they would be able to impose a host of different regulations that would limit free speech online and essentially give the left the upper hand. First the auto industry, then health care and the financial services industry, now this."

Once again you are blatantly and willfully misrepresenting the facts.
The government is not "planning an effort to sensor and alter the use of the Internet, especially blogging".
That is a lie.
In fact, the Obama administration is fighting to keep things just exactly like they are!
Today, every packet of data on the internet is treated and transported exactly like every other packet of data.
The Net Neutrality Act is meant to ensure that network providers are prohibited from "throttling" these packets of data and giving preferential treatment to content from users who pay a surcharge for the priveledge.
If network providers were allowed to do this, then everyday internet users and bloggers like you and I would see a severe degradation in their access speed. We would be put at the back of the line while large corporations were alllocated the lion's share of the available bandwidth. It's called metering.
Even more sinister, without the Net Neutrality Act, service providers could choose to throttle bandwidth based on content they don't like.
You have a degree of paranoia about the left. Suppose your internet provider exhibited that "left wing bias" you are always ranting about and decided to throttle back on conservative content and give liberal content preferential network access. Without the Net Neutrality Act, they could do that.
The Net Neutrality Act would see to it that you and I remain equal and our data is treated exactly the same.
Which is why it has been defeated twice by Republican controlled congresses who didn't want you to have free and unfettered access to the internet.
XO'imposing federal regulations originally written in the 1930s for the telephone is the only way the Obama Administration can gain the "kind of oversight and control that we need,"'
I trust them to do that right, don't you?
They are as honest as the day is long.
They've done it all right so far, why not believe they'll do as well with the Internet.
BTW: I think you meant "censor."
Just another attempt to gain more government control over the people.
The oil spill is just another means for Obama and his cronies to politicize their agenda.
I am worried.
"Look at the Gulf oil spill, that's what happens when we let corporations just do their own thing without any accountability. We can't allow that to happen with the Internet. We won't allow it."
What the HECK is he talking about???
First - we DON'T KNOW yet what happened in the oil spill. If companies hadn't been FORCED out of shallow waters via GOV'T REGULATION, we would've had this thing fixed, operating & producing oil again by now. AND the coastal environment would have been spared the DEVASTATION it's currently suffering. Thanks A LOT, environmentalists & gov't regulators. As I see it, this tragedy is YOUR FAULT!!!!
"...we can't allow that to happen on with the internet"
WHAT???
Oh, right. Regulating the internet as a cash cow, I mean utility...right...As they say, never let a good crisis (oil spill) go to waste.
Good lord, XO. WAKE UP!!
Joe, I have heard much about this net neutrality and am still confused....I think that it what they want to accomplish.....confusion......I am so at loose ends, not knowing when the other shoe will drop, with the present administration and their changes or as in this present oil spill.... lack of action and seemingly interferance with the clean-up process and refusing allied help, placing a moritoriam on our drilling while at the same time loaning Brazil 2 Billion for deep water drilling, I really am concerned about this country and where we are heading ..sorry, I got off topic,,,but.......stay well
