THE BOSTON TEA PARTY, THE BOSTON MARATHON AND NOW THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING
A commenter on this blog, who shall remain nameless, (but whose initials are XO) has put $20.00 on the line, betting that the Boston Marathon bomber(s) is (are) a right wing nut job.
As of this writing we don't know. Regardless, the person is a terrorist. He represents neither the left or the right.
The same commenter used Timothy McVeigh to illustrate how "most" mass shooters are right wingers.
Well, let's take a look.
1..Ft. Hood: Registered Democrat - Muslim.
2. Columbine: From a family of Democrats.
3. Virginia Tech: Foreign national (not right-winger) - Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff.
4. Colorado Theater: Registered Democrat – Staff worker on the Obama campaign – Occupy Wall Street participant – progressive liberal.
5. Connecticut Sandy Hook School Shooter: Registered Democrat – Anti Christian.
6. Gabby Gifford’s shooter: Leftist – Registered Democrat.
7. Twin Towers: Middle Easterners (not right wingers.
8. Timothy McVeigh: A militia movement sympathizer – right winger.
9. Terry Nichols: Anti federal government.
So, if I understand correctly, 2 out of 9 = most.
That's interesting math, at best.
Conclusion: The Boston Marathon bomber(s) must have been a right winger?
Additionally:
Westroads Mall shooting Omaha 2007- the rifle was stolen from the shooter's stepfather.
Chadron High shooting- weapon stolen from his uncle.
Millard South Omaha 2011- The shooter took his father's handgun to kill my former English teacher.
The DC Sniper's rifle was part of a group of firearms that were taken from a dealer in Seattle.
Kip Kinkel- Weapons were legally purchased for him by his father.
Sikh temple shooting- rifle legally purchased.
Here are some more interesting things about spree and rampage shootings in the U.S.
And one other thing.
The news media insists on referring to the bombing as a massacre.
Let's be clear: It was horrible. It was terrible. It was terrifying. It was evil. It was unjustifiable. It was murderous.
Was it a massacre?
Not by traditional standards.
These were massacres:
Little Big Horn
The Chinese massacre of 1871 (18 killed)
Ludlow 1914 (19 killed)
Rosewood, 1923 (the entire population of African-Americans in and near Rosewood, about 350)
Olowalu 1790 (100 killed)
Hanapepe: 1924 (20 killed)
Herrin 1922 (23 killed)
Lawrence 1863 (185+ killed)
Greenwood (300)
Chinese Massacare Cove (34)
Lattimer (19)
Ponce (19)
Washaw (118)
Fort Pillow (297)
Goliad (300)
Nueces (34)
Mountain Meadows (140)
Whitman (13),
Wah Mee (13)
Rock Springs (28)
Bloody Monday, Colfax, Coushatta, Thibodaus, Haun’s Mill, Centralia, and Baylor were all massacres.
And of course, 9/11 was a massacre.
I’m not certain 3 or 4 killed constitutes a massacre. It is despicable. The families of those killed are to be sympathized and empathized with to the highest degree.
To call the Boston Marathon bombings a “massacre” requires changing the usual meaning of the word, massacre.
But that's the media for you.
I hope the perpetrator is caught, whether he is a right winger, a left winger or a Middle Easterner…wherever… I hope he is prosecuted to the Nth degree.
He’ll deserve what he gets and more.

You are technically correct, I guess. It wasn't a massacre.
But about the only news outlet calling it a massacre is Rupert Murdoch's rag, The New York Daily News.
Call it what you like, Joe. People just wanting to watch the end of the race and pretty soon there are thirty amputations. Rupert Murdoch can call it his momma for all I care.
I haven't been able to get my mind around this level of hate. How many amputations do we nee before this becomes a real tragedy, Joe?
Martin Richard was an 8 year old boy waiting to see his father finish the marathon. That little boy's body was shredded, his mother and sister are still in the hospital recovering from very serious injuries and his father had his family destroyed.
Put your self in that father's shoes.
That isn't a massacre? That doesn't meet your dictionary definition?
Are you willing to travel to Boston, look that father in the face and tell him "You know, statistically, your losses really aren't that significant."
Really, Joe? This is your argument?
Joe, I have no idea what motivated the bomber(s) and I don't care to speculate.
Your list of recent shooters, copied and pasted from a chain e-mail or loony blog, has been floating around the net for some time. It's complete crap.
1. Hassan was a resident of Virginia and Texas. Neither state registers by party affiliation.
2. Harris' father was retired Air Force pilot. Both families lived in conservative Littleton. Harris and Klebold both expressed admiration for Tim McVeigh. No evidence of families party affiliation.
3. Show me some evidence of hate mail to Bush.
4. All based on a false report on Breitbart. They had the wrong James Holmes. The staff worker and Occupy claims were made up. Again, zero evidence.
5. Lanza;s mother was a prepper and he was a registered member of the NRA. No evidence of party registration.
6. Loughner is a registered Independent.
The rest of your list is true enough.
Joe, Why do you continue to put up with being lied to and then use those lies to buttress your argument. Don't you check the B.S. you copy and paste? Do you think no one else will check? You're making yourself look foolish.
I'm just trying to help.
It must be one of those Home Grown White Right-wing Anti Compassion, Bastards.
Ducky: Try CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN and PBS.
XO: "That isn't a massacre? That doesn't meet your dictionary definition?"
Dictionary definition (not mine):
1. the unnecessary, indiscriminate killing of a large number of human beings or animals, as in barbarous warfare or persecution or for revenge or plunder.
2. a general slaughter, as of persons or animals: the massacre of millions during the war.
This is America. You can change the definition of any word you want to to fit your liberal perspective. You always do.
My post clearly stated that sympathy and empathy belong to those who lost loved ones and/or were injured. To say that I would say anything close to "...your losses really aren't that significant." is just typical liberal dishonesty.
Craig: Careful. Snopes, Facts About Everything, Truth or Fiction and other sites have confirmed the essence of my list. I didn't copy and paste. That is why the "list" does not use the same words as my post.
Anonymous: Not real sure where you're coming from. That was not a very good comment for discussion purposes.
But thanks for your help.
Well, Joe, I only did a quick Google search. My research wasn't as thorough as Craig's.
When I go out for street photography I often spend some time in that area for a number of reasons. I shoot in B&W and really like the texture of the granite of the Boston Public Library. Makes a good background.
It's just across Boylston from the blast site (were the bombs large enough to be blasts?).
So now whenever I pass I can think about the redefinition of the word, "massacre". Just like we redefine, "marriage". That's where you're going, right Joe?
I can think of the woman whose two sons each lost a leg and wonder how the left wing Marxist media can dare redefine a word.
Keep us focused on what is important, Joe. We progressives just don't understand how to conceptualize this tragedy.
But it may just have been a lucky break, Joe. The site is dead center in a one mile radius circle of four world class hospitals so the death toll was kept low.
Otherwise this horror might have et your standards.
Ducky: "The site is dead center in a one mile radius circle of four world class hospitals so the death toll was kept low."
And we can all be grateful that was the case.
Whether it was deliberately done to keep the carnage lower is unknowable at this time, but I doubt it.
This bomber is a murderer and a terrorist and thus deserves to be brought to swift justice.
Don't pretend that I have minimized this horror.
Nice to see you agree that liberals like to change the meanings of words. They eschew the phrase, "Words have meaning."
Change enough of them, and nobody will know what anybody else means when they speak.
Craig: Careful. Snopes, Facts About Everything, Truth or Fiction and other sites have confirmed the essence of my list
Got a link? I can't find anything on those sites that back your list.
I didn't copy and paste.
This is the list I've found on numerous Righty blogs,
t Hood ~~ Registered Democrat ~ Muslim
Columbine ~~~ Too young to vote; both families were registered Democrats and progressive liberals
Virginia Tech ~~~ Wrote hate mail to President Bush and to his staff ~ Registered Democrat
Colorado Theater ~~~ Registered Democrat; staff worker on the Obama campaign;
Occupy Wall Street participant; progressive liberal
Connecticut School Shooter --- Registered Democrat; hated Christians,
Common thread is that all of these shooters were progressive liberal Democrats."
Do you see a pattern here?
You changed a couple words and say you didn't copy/paste this? Please, stop digging.
@Joe --- Don't pretend that I have minimized this horror.
----
Maybe I'm thin skinned about this because I love my city.
The Patriots Day weekend and the marathon are kind of a big deal here.
Greeting spring, visitors from very state and maybe a hundred foreign countries. Boston at its most open.
The race is as much for amateur runners as the pros and the bomber picked a time when those amateurs would be finishing and the crowd in Copley Square would be highest.
There's a lot of happiness and joy there.
Your reaction is to carp over the supposed "redefinition of a word" as if you're Noah Webster keeping the language safe from Marxists, socialists and homosexuals and you don't think you are trivializing this?
Like i say, Joe, maybe it's because I'm one of those uppity Bostonians who feels a lot of sorrow when his city gets attacked at a time of celebration but I don't think your post today says much for your spiritual witness.
To echo Craig ... hear the voices, Joe? It's your cornermen screaming, "Stay down !"
The folks on the Right, Joe included, have been frantically waving their arms, applying spin and using all manner of misdirection in an effort to scream "DON'T LOOK OVER HERE! LOOK OVER THERE!"
But I think we all know how this is going to turn out. Right Wing, religous nut jobs tend to kill innocent people in April. It's becoming a sick and twisted sign of Spring.
You’re visiting your doctor because you have flu symptoms. After checking your heart, pulse and other vital signs, your doctor turns to you and asks, “By the way, the federal government has authorized me to ask you, What type and how many guns do you have in your home?"
Sounds like George Orwell’s "1984"?
Wrong.
It’s 2013. And if President Barack Obama gets his way by executive order, doctors across the country could play a key role in his new gun control initiative.
Nothing to see here folks, all we are doing is upholding the supreme law of the land....the Constitution.
And while we are on the subject of Obama acting like a FOOL!
WHY didn’t Obama send an official delegation to her funeral.
I as an American I'm way beyond surprised. I'm ashamed....and angry.
As everyone knows, it is standard operating procedure for the President, or Vice President or the First Lady or, at a minimum the Secretary of State, to attend funerals of ALL foreign leaders, even those from lesser nations.
The White House offered a lame excuse -- all the senior Obama administration officials are way too busy to take 24 hours out of their hectic schedules to pay respects to the woman who along with Ronald Reagan helped win the Cold War.
For Heavens Sake, show some respect, she earned it.
By failing to send even one senior level official to Mrs. Thatcher's funeral, this President has shown this Country and the rest of the world what a FOOL he is, perhaps if it was a Muslim Leader or a Leader from a Black Nation he would be there himself.
But by reading the blogs of the stupid Obamabots, you’d think that he was a Hero!.
Obama said the N.R.A. willfully lied! Well it takes One to Know One!
Sorry Eagle, he couldn't fit it in.
He was in Boston today.
Surely you agree that a serious domestic attack takes precedent over a fascist's funeral.
Ducky's here said...
Sorry Eagle, he couldn't fit it in.
He was in Boston today.
Surely you agree that a serious domestic attack takes precedent over a fascist's funera
LOL, wrong Schmucky, He has a Grinning Monkey who calles himself the Vice president or does he?don't he?
The Screaming Eagle - Pretty sure the political calculus was that it was more important to have all hands on deck pushing through common sense gun control measures than spending political capital attending the funeral of a woman who is still as hated by her own people now as she was 30 years ago.
Maggie Thatcher destroyed the U.K. by turning it into the "Lite" version of the greedy, capitalistic, Reaganesque version of America where unregulated corporations Rule Supreme and the citizens are just raw material ground up and used as fuel by the wealthy.
There is evidence that both Reagan and Thatcher began suffering from dementia while they were still in office. That would explain a lot.
She was a disaster and the British people can't see her buried soon enough. I wouldn't be surprised if there were contingency plans to drive a stake through her heart and fill her grave with garlic just to make sure she can't come back.
I think allowing Michelle Bachmann to attend demonstrated the appropriate level of reverence.
Yeah, XO, it was perfect. Along with Kissinger and Cheney, perfect.
I hope Kissinger's careful and doesn't stop over someplace that has an arrest warrant outstanding.
Oh, have you seen the photos of the bombers? it's early but they don't look Middle Eastern.
Maybe you and GTO can enjoy a couple drinks with the $20.
Ducky - Yes, I've seen the F.B.I. photos. It is especially significant that they aren't referring to them as "persons of interest" or "people that they would like to talk to".
No, they are Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 and they are described as being "armed and dangerous".
And they are very CLEARLY home grown Americans. Domestic terrorists.
All that remains is to ascertain their politics and motivation.
I doubt seriously that they are liberal stoners killing jocks in advance of "420" day.
Pretty sure the bulk of Joe's post was about the assumption (or hope, on some people's parts) that the bomber will turn out to be a right wing crazy. I really can't see why anyone would go in that direction .. in general in the recent past, violence has come from the left, not the right. However, there are crazies everywhere so I won't say the left has it locked up. My bet is an international connection.
Also, because Joe contradicted the semantics of the media, some would accuse him of not recognizing the horrific nature of the bombing, the suffering of the people involved? For real, people? Puh-lease!
BetteJo - " .. in general in the recent past, violence has come from the left, not the right."
That is complete and total nonsense.
Perhaps you have some example you can link to?
Well XO, seems to be an Ethiopian and an Indian.
The Indian is from a wealthy family and was attending Brown.
Well that's changed. Now reporting Chechnya.
Chechnians? Wow. Did not see that coming. Let me just go ahead and surprise Jo Joe by admitting I was wrong. There. See? Admitting it when you're wrong isn't so hard. You should try it sometime Jo Joe.
And yes, you are wrong. A LOT!
XO: If you need my PayPal account, let me know.
Maybe early assumptions are not the best way to go?
My money is on the fact that it won't keep you from accusing the right, right at the get-go on the next terrorist event.
It's what you're really good at.
Bette Jo: The left just can't get their hatred for the right out of their closed minds.
The next time something horrible occurs, the right will once again be blamed before we have the facts, because leftists cannot learn from their mistakes. It is not in their genes to do so.
Kind of like what Obama is doing now
Joe - In my defense, I didn't jump to the conclusion that it was a domestic right winger just because it was a terrorist-type attack, it was the timing and the location of the attack that made me (and a lot of other people) jump to that conclusion.
But, jump I did and I landed in a big, steaming pile of it. I was wrong.
So, if you will give me your PayPal account number, I'll honor my wager and pay off my bet.
No joke.
One terrorist dead, one in custody - both Muslims. How disappointing for the left that once again, no Tea Partiers were involved. Libs just can't catch a break.
LR: But they won't learn. The next time their anti-logic refrain will start all over.
The next time something horrible occurs, the right will once again be blamed before we have the facts, because leftists cannot learn from their mistakes. It is not in their genes to do so.
XO was speculating. When the facts came out he admitted he was wrong and will honor the bet he made.
You publish a list that has no basis in fact. Little or none of it is true. Some one made up those "facts" about the killers and you believed it because it's what you want to believe.
In light of evidence, XO realized his error and copped to it. When you are presented with contrary evidence, you ignore it and refuse to budge. That kind of cognitive dissonance and intellectual dishonesty is impressive.
You haven't produced a shred of evidence (yeah, yeah, I know you don't have to) to back up anything on that list. You either have brass spheres or you're completely clueless to say, "because leftists cannot learn from their mistakes."
I've got $20 on the latter.
