NOW, WHICH ONE IS EASIER TO USE?
Biden says, "Get a shot gun."
Shot guns hurt the shooter (especially is the shooter is a woman).
AR15s don't hurt to fire.
Which one would be better for self protection?
Come on, liberals. Get your emotions out of the picture and watch the facts.

What a stupid video.
Not a single one of the people pictured firing a shotgun was doing it right.
Everyone pictured firing an AR-15 was doing it right.
This is a lesson in video editing, not gun use.
Go sell Stupid to Republicans. That stuff doesn't sell to intelligent viewers.
XO: "Not a single one of the people pictured firing a shotgun was doing it right."
Not true.
Why do you say things that are not true?
Some of them were doing it wrong (which is part of the point) and some of them were doing it right.
But you already knew that. You just like to disagree with anything anybody on the right says, whether they are correct or not...makes no difference to you.
You, sir, are not counted among intelligent viewers, except in your own mind.
Joe - I would be the one that would be knocked down by the blast of the shotgun - would be screaming like a woman.
sh: That, of course, is part of the point of the post.
Anyone who has fired a 12 gauge knows about kick. Joe Biden recommended that women buy shot guns.
The AR-15 is miles easier to use than any shot gun. It's kick is absorbed by its design. It is easy to fire, even if you do it wrong. It won't knock itself out of your hands, it won't leave you with a sore shoulder.
Joe Biden's advice was really off base, and that's the point of the post.
Notice Biden didn't say just any shotgun, but a double-barreled 12 ga, and to fire both at once. If you think a 12 ga single barrel kicks, fire two at once. Biden is a moron!
I dunno, Joe Biden may have a point: double barrel shotguns are indeed a lot easier to bring down dirtbags than an AR-15.
Double barrel shotgun: Just open the breach check to see if you have ammo, if not, get some, if so, just close the breach, point in the general direction of the dirtbag, pull the trigger. So what if it kicks a little. Get over it.
AR-15: check to see if you have ammo. This involves pulling the charging handle back very gently and inspect the chamber on the right side of the rifle. If you have a round chambered and pull back too far, you will eject that round (one less round for use against bad guys). If you notice that you indeed have a round chambered, you must return the charging handle to the forward position, and then with a few sharp taps on the forward assist lever, ensure that the round is securely re-chambered and locked.
Then, you must insure that your magazine has rounds. This requires you to eject the magazine for a visual inspection. If so, then jack the magazine back into the rifle. If not, loading the magazine is not a quick process, and in a pressure situation can be difficult to do quickly.
Then you must insure that the rifle is not on safety, and this can be done either visually looking at the setting on the left hand side of the trigger guard, or by switching it between the fire and safety positions, assuming you know which is which.
Then aim it at the dirtbag (not just a rough pointing in the general direction that a double barrel affords), and squeeze off a single projectile per pull on the trigger.
I gotta agree with Joe Biden on this one, guys. When he's right, he's right. And that's not all that often.
Fredd,
You sound like a liberal who has no concept of home defense (and I don't think you are)
My guns are loaded and ready for trigger pull. Whether it is shotgun or rifle, I know when I pick it up that all I have to do is move the safety and pull the trigger.
If you have to do all that checking when a bad guy shows up, then you have no idea what a gun is for!
I can just imagine the soldier carrying his weapon and when the enemy shows up he has to do all the checking and cocking, etc. When I was in, the weapon was intended to be carried at the ready.
GEC: Fredd is not a liberal, but in this case, he and I disagree.
I would find no reason to have a gun for self protection that was not loaded and ready to fire.
I would not keep a gun in a safe, either.
"Hey! Mr. Thief! Wait just a second while I go to the safe, think of the combination to the safe, work the combination, open the door, take out the gun, locate the ammo or clip, load the shot gun or insert the clip. OK, go ahead and try to rob me now."
Or, "Wait Mr. Thief! I keep my gun under the bed and my ammo in my dresser drawer. If you'll just give me a moment, I'll get my gun and ammo and we can continue."
No, my guns will be loaded, ready to fire and conveniently located.
I've never fired an AR-15, but I've fired an M-1. I have also fired a shotgun.
With a shotgun you're more likely to hit the target and anything else near it, with a rifle you're as likely to hit the things near the target as you are to hit the target.
Either way, the thief is hopefully going to leave quickly, if possible.
That's why I said I didn't think Fredd was a liberal (having looked at his profile), but his comment sounded like one.
GEC: Fredd has a great blog. You should read it. His link will take you to it.
You people who feel so threatened by everyone around you crack me up!
You're all nuts! There's no way to sugarcoat it.
I can't even imagine what it would be like to live in unreasonable fear and paranoia that my life and property were at risk, at any moment, 24/7/365 to the degree that I needed to have a loaded weapon at arms reach IN MY OWN HOME at all times!
Seriously???
You may have a chemical imbalance in your brain. You should probably be on meds.
How can you claim to live in "The Greatest Country in the World" while fearing for your saftey to such a degree that you feel the need to ba armed to the teeth at all times?
I've never met a Conservative, Libertarian or Republican whose view of the world survived a critical, objective balance againt reality.
XO: "I've never met a Conservative, Libertarian or Republican whose view of the world survived a critical, objective balance againt reality."
I've never met a liberal, leftist or Progressive whose view of the world survived a critical, objective balance against reality.
See? My argument is as good as yours!
In our town we had a home invasion on Feb 1 in which an armed man entered a home to commit robbery. On February 6 a couple was beaten during a home invasion. In November of 2012 there was a violent home invasion burglary in which a child was tied up and the home robbed. In a city of which we are a “suburb,” there was a record number of murders in 2012, some of which occurred during home invasions. Sound safe to you?
Jo Joe - We had some home invasions in Kansas City too. It happens. But I'm not obsessed with the idea that it COULD happen, nor do I live in an area where it would be likely to happen. If I did live in an area where it was likely to happen, I would just move to a better area! Who would want to live in an area like that? It's not worth defending. Because if home invasion is a high probability where you live, so are gangs, drugs, prostitution and drive by gun battles. Move to someplace safe.
Joe: Fredd the Bleeding Heart Liberal here.
I am just curious as to how someone can label me a liberal when I argue that it is more effective, is less involved and takes less skill in firearms handling when I recommend shooting a dirtbag with a double barrel shotgun instead of an AR-15. I personally can shoot a dirtbag with either, but for the uninitiated, I thought I would offer some of my expert advice on the matter.
Concluding that Fredd is a liberal is like concluding that Josef Stalin was a nice guy because he sent condolence letters out to all the families who lost loved ones during his purges.
That is like somebody concluding that a 500 pound sumo wrestler is health conscious because he stood in line behind them at McDonalds and noted that the sumo wrestler ordered a diet Coke and a side salad (after ordering a #2, a #3, a #5 and a #12).
Well, gotta go, Joe: so much liberalism to spread, so little time.....
Peace
Fredd,
I didn't say you WERE a liberal - I said your comment made you sound like one! Big difference there. Notice I even said "(and I don't think you are)"
The point was that your comment was something I'd expect from a liberal uneducated on guns and defense because you assumed a home defense weapon was not ready for use.
Glenn:
I can see your point, given that you assume Joe Biden was talking to a wide audience. That, and agreeing with ANYTHING that uber-liberal socialist Marxist Joe Biden says makes one suspect, that's not arguable.
But he wasn't talking to a wide audience. He was not speaking to you,Glenn, who have your chosen weapon ready to go, he was not speaking to me, and I also have my chosen weapon ready, locked and loaded.
Joe Biden was speaking to those who have no guns, or who are now wondering, what with all of this hubbub lately about gun violence, about maybe looking into guns. This audience is clueless about the virtues of either a double barrel shotgun or an AR-15.
I know a great deal about both. And consider this unrealistic yet instructive hypothetical scenario:
I, a weapons-knowing guy, am visiting my friend Kid's home, and suddenly we are under assault from outside the home. Kid grabs his Glock and enroute to the back door, hurriedly points towards his gun cabinet, just as someone is kicking in the door, and tells me to grab a weapon. Side by side are two weapons, with adequate ammo boxes of 12 gauge 00 buckshot shells and .556 ball rounds below them: a double barrel and an AR-15.
Since in the heat of battle, I don't know whether Kid has these weapons ready to go, I will grab the shotgun, quickly break the breach to determine if I have to load the thing, and then subsequently grab a handful of shells. Way quicker than grabbing the AR-15 and fumbling gently with the charging handle, etc. And in the event that neither is loaded (which is the case in most gun cabinets, BTW), you can load a shotgun WAY faster than an AR-15, there is no argument, Glenn.
I know, hypotheticals are hardly proof, but I know both weapons intricately. Take my word for it, Glenn.
Grab the shotgun.
Fredd,
Your hypothetical situation is about the only kind of situation that would make a shot-gun quicker.
By the way, I am also very familiar with small arms, having spent almost five years in the Army (my favorite assigned weapon was the M-60 machine gun), was on an ROTC rifle team back in my high school days, and over the years my personal firearms have included an M1911A1 Colt, a .45ACP Colt Combat Commander, a Ruger .44 mag. Super Blackhawk, S&W .357 pistol, S&W model 459 9mm, S&W .40 cal, Ruger .380 LCP and Kimber 1911 .45ACP for handguns. Long guns I've owned have been M1903 Springfield .30-06, Ruger .44 mag carbine, an M1 .30 cal. carbine, Ruger Mini-14 .223 cal, Marlin .444, Mossberg .30-.30, Marlin .30-30, Remington 879 12 gauge. I always keep the Kimber and the Remington "hot" - one on each floor.
G.E.C and Fredd - You two are insane. "I'm over at a friend's house and all of a sudden, BOOM! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" Like anything remotely like that would ever happen.
Seriously????
Where do you think you live? Syria? Libya? Afghanistan?
When was the last time either one of you ever came under anything remotely resembling a situation like that? Answer: NEVER!
You are silly, silly people frightened of your own shadows.
X.O.
When PATCO went on strike and I refused to join - having taken an oath not to strike as they also did but violated - I had PATCO members come to my house after calling me to say they were coming to burn me out. I met them with my Ruger Mini-14 with a 30-round magazine. The hurriedly backed off and left.
I lived in the Chicago area for 17 years and had to move out of one neighborhood as the gangs moved in - a body was found in the field across from the elementary school my daughter attended. Before we moved, there was much vandalism and other mayhem taking place around us - I was always ready to defend but fortunately did not have to before leaving.
You may have always lived in a garden like Eden, but real life is all around you.
G.E.C. - I'm 57 years old and I've lived in some pretty sketchy areas in my time.
I've never been robbed or mugged. I've never had my home broken into. I've never felt threatened by anyone, ever, in any way.
My photo safaris take me into what you would think of as a "ghetto filled with crime and violence" almost every weekend. Never had an issue.
I've also never won the lottery, never been killed by a meteorite, never been beheaded by a terrorist, never had the earth open up beneath my bedroom while I was sleeping and swallow me whole, never been struck by lightning, never been killed by a freakishly focused gamma ray burst from a nearby supernova, never been hit by "random" gunfire (it's never random...it is always drug and/or gang related and the targets are never innocent victims).
I have never, ever felt threatened. I go about my life unarmed, unconcerned, unfrightened and perfectly safe and happy.
And lookee here...I'm alive and I have all my stuff. I even (accidently)left my garage door open for 6 hours on Christmas Day a few years ago and guess what? When I got home everything was fine. All my stuff was still there, no one had ransacked my house and taken everything I own. No one was hiding in my house waiting to attack or kidnap me.
I don't know what planet you live on, but where I live it is safe and people are good and honest.
If you don't live in a place like that? If you have bars on you doors and windows and feel like you have to have loaded weapons within arms reach everywhere in your house? Then you should seriously move because where you live sucks.
X.O.
I don't live in fear - never have. But I believe in being prepared.
You being a liberal, depend on the government to protect you. We see how well that is happening in many, many cities.
just keep you hands off of my legal guns.
G.E.C. - I don't have to rely on the government to protect me because I'm not in any danger! I never have been. Never will be.
I'm not a gang member. I don't do or sell drugs. I don't live in an area where that takes place. I can walk out my door unarmed at any time of the day or night and be perfectly safe. I'm not in any danger whatsoever.
But here's a news flash...NEITHER ARE YOU! You like to think you are, but you aren't. You could get rid of all your guns and leave your doors unlocked at night and NOTHING WOULD EVER HAPPEN! The world isn't nearly as dangerous as you want to believe it is.
Glenn:

Don't be cowed into a ridiculous argument with the super-liberal XO.
Because XO has never seen dire circumstances, he wrongly and stupidly assumes that nobody has experienced such, nor ever will.
He assigns our concerns of our safety to paranoia, all the while enveloping himself in the Utopian visions of invincibility from evil that he mistakenly and foolishly projects to the universal experience.
You and I, Glenn, know that there is evil out there. No, not under every rock as XO suggests, but we both understand, unlike XO, that 'it's better to have a gun and not need it, than to need and gun and not have it.'
My weapon of choice is at the ready, and I maintain it yearly. It has never been fired for lo these many decades that I have owned it. I do not live in fear that my life will be threatened. It is a weapon of awesome power, and God willing (and I am referring to the God that XO denies exists) I will never have to exert its awesome power onto an evildoer.
Fredd& G.E.C. = Cukoo! Cukoo! Cukoo!
Seriously.
You two are so far removed from reality as to be dangerous.
Seek help!
I have only fired my guns at the range.
X.O.
You are an idiot who has no clue about reality. You live in Obamanation's la-la land.
XO: "You people who feel so threatened by everyone around you crack me up!"
I do not walk around in life feeling threatened, only prepared.
Fredd: I don't think GEC was labeling you a liberal, only saying that you statement, taken out of context, might make you SOUND like a liberal.
I certainly know you're not a liberal.
XO: "You two are so far removed from reality as to be dangerous."
I'm certain a person with such a great intelligence as you have must think that a rational argument about something.
