How Proud We Can All Be

Pro-Russian rebels, probably directly responsible for the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines flight 17, murdering 298 people, have now driven United Nations investigators out of the region shooting at them as they left. Translation: The United Nations is powerless to do anything significant, even such an important task as to investigate the taking down of a civilian airliner.

But have no fear! President BO (the amateur president) is here! Remember, there were Americans in that plane. They might not have been as important as the ambassadors in Benghazi, but they were Americans. So this involves us, the U.S. Therefore, PBO (tap)’s firm response has been issued. He bravely said:

“…as I’ve said throughout this crisis…to President Putin as well as publically (what the heck does that mean: publically?), my preference continues to be finding a diplomatic resolution within Ukraine. (What? A diplomatic solution to the shooting down of a civilian airliner? Hasn’t the deed already been done? What solution? He’s going to bring the dead bodies back to life? Because that’s the only thing that could be considered a solution.) I believe that can still happen. That is my preference today and will continue to be my preference.

“…if Russia continues to violate Ukraine’s sovereignty, and to back these separatists, and these separatists become more and more dangerous (What? More dangerous than shoot down a civilian airliner?) and now are risks, not simply to the people inside of Ukraine, but the broader international community (Is not the shooting down of a civilian airliner ALREADY beyond the “risk”?) then Russia will only further isolate itself from the international community (something that I’m sure makes them tremble in their boots) and the costs for Russia’s behavior will only continue to increase.” (Ooh! I’ll bet that put fear in Putin’s gizzard!)

This pathetic excuse for a man, this cowardly, lily-livered, yellow-bellied, sap sucking amateur Spokesperson in Chief for America will take the same stand in this situation that he took in Libya, in Egypt and in other Islamic nations. Red lines and all, we know how that turned out.

So now he takes a kneel before President Putin, now considered the most powerful man on earth. That will turn Putin into a bowl of Jell-O, right?

Wake up Americans! Wake up to PBO (tap)’s ineffectiveness on the world stage! Wake up to the man who wants to “fundamentally change” America by bringing her down! Wake up to this namby-pamby pot of international Pablum. Get this guy and those of his ilk out of D.C.!

We want to keep America!

So one group of Ukrainians accidentally shoots down a civilian Malaysian passenger jet over Ukraine and you want the President of the United States to do what, Joe...threaten Russia with nuclear war?

You and your fellow conservatives remind me of a guy I used to work with. His name was Red. Whenever someone made a mistake, or anything went wrong, Red would go absolutely BALLISTIC! Yelling, screaming, cursing, foaming at the mouth with righteous indignation over every single problem.

Well guess what? No one took him seriously because his reaction was so disproportionate to the situation at hand. Everything got the same response. Didn't matter if the network went down leaving half of the company in the dark or if someone spilled a Coke on their keyboard. Red always went straight to the most extreme reaction to the situation.

That is what you always seem to want. You want the President to be like Red. Always threatening and bellowing at people he can't influence over circumstances he can't control. You seem to have the silly notion that such childish and immature tantrum throwing is "leadership".

As usual, you are wrong.

Resolution:
the action of solving a problem, dispute, or contentious matter.
"the peaceful resolution of all disputes"
synonyms: solution to, answer to, end to, ending to, settlement of, conclusion to

There's a conflict in that part of the world, Joe, and the majority of Americans agree with President Obama in that they prefer a diplomatic resolution to solving it.

What do you propose he do? Start a war with Russia or use diplomacy? If you think going to war over this is the correct "solution," please let us know why that is.

There are very few options available: diplomatic resolution, sanctions, WAR.

You appear to want America to go to war to solve the problem in the Ukraine.

And speaking of childishness and stamping one's feet, you need to get hold of your emotions. This screed makes you look like you've popped your cork:

"This pathetic excuse for a man, this cowardly, lily-livered, yellow-bellied, sap sucking amateur Spokesperson in Chief for America will take the same stand in this situation that he took in Libya, in Egypt and in other Islamic nations. Red lines and all, we know how that turned out.

You and other conservatives continue to admire the murdering head of state, Putin, who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of men, women, and children, to our American president.

You need to look within yourself and find out why you admire an ex-KGB commie to your American president.

Hatred and emotional immaturity do ugly things to one's soul, Joe.

XO: "...accidentally..."

That has not been determined, and even if it was, they were trying to shoot something down. That would make it "collateral" damage; good for the rebels, bad for Israel?

Nobody even came close to suggesting nuclear war. How about specific sanctions?

SK: "You appear to want America to go to war to solve the problem in the Ukraine."

There were Americans involved! Unlike liberals, who considered the murder of four Americans in Benghazi of no consequence, I don't think we should consider the killing of Americans of no consequence in Benghazi or in the air.

I would start with meaningful sanctions, tough sanctions; sanctions that would make Putin think twice (think "oil").

No war. Specific increase in sanction levels.

Joe: "There were Americans involved! Unlike liberals, who considered the murder of four Americans in Benghazi of no consequence, I don't think we should consider the killing of Americans of no consequence in Benghazi or in the air."

We liberals were appalled by the 13 attacks on American consuls and embassies, and the 60 deaths of Americans during the last conservative administration. Were you raging about those dead Americans the way you rage about the 4 Benghazi deaths under the Obama administration? Or is your outrage reserved only when diplomats die under liberal administrations? You need some consistency here Joe.

And you need to heed the advice your favorite sainted president, Ronald Reagan, gave when the Russians shot down the Korean airliner, which killed many, many more Americans, including a US Congressman, than were killed in the Malaysia tragedy. Mr. Reagan's advice:

"Reagan biographer Paul Kengor described the president’s reaction in his book The Crusader. Kengor quotes Reagan telling his National Security Advisor William Clark "to be careful not to overreact to this."

Joe: "I would start with meaningful sanctions, tough sanctions; sanctions that would make Putin think twice (think "oil")."

Seriously? You're not aware that Russia has some of the world's largest oil reserves and untapped oil resources? How would sanctions on oil hurt Russia? Russia actually supplies much of Europe with its huge oil and gas resources!

By 2011, Russian oil production had increased to 10,540,000 bbl/day.[7] It is the largest producer and exporter of oil in the world.

"Russian waters in the arctic are expected to contain 100 billion tons of oil and gas."

So tell us how placing sanctions on "oil" would hurt the Russians.

Thanks.

Joe - Ok. So he is saying things that are not so good - that he is showing that he is not the best president we have had. But he's got a couple more years to go. I think we should give him some support - and maybe that will help him do better.

Anonymous said...

More support Sue? 99% of the entire media has been licking his boots for the last 6 years.
Who cares cares what the Republicans say, they are a bunch of liars anyway aren't they?
If this man got any more support he'd be going on 10 fund raisers a day.
whatever Obama's positions are,the left is all for it,even when he has no postion.

What you won't accept, Joe, is that America is not in full control of world affairs.
Look at the economic relations with Russia and you'll see that Germany is the critical player and they risk recession if they tighten the screws too hard.

As for further arming the Eastern, Ukraine, well they are currently doing a good job of pounding cities in the west and causing considerable destruction. You want to escalate that and play chicken with Putin?
I get a charge out of you fools who believe military action is an effective response to any issue.

Your mention of oil implies a true misunderstanding of the economics involved.

Joe - "I would start with meaningful sanctions, tough sanctions; sanctions that would make Putin think twice (think "oil")."

As has been pointed out, Russia is an EXPORTER of oil, not an importer. So we can't cut off oil TO Russia.

The primary consumer of Russian oil EXPORTS is the European Union. Any effort to cut off oil EXPORTS would hurt Europeans far more than it would hurt Russia.

Got any other "brilliant" (i.e. completely uninformed and wrong-headed) ideas you'd like to share?

Not hard to figure out, Lisa.

We can always count on you to express undocumented claims and pronouncements, with a sprinkling of Obama Derangement Syndrome.

Hate and anger are bad for the complexion, m'dear. You are a lovely looking woman, don't let bile destroy you.

sh: A man who is president MUST NOT use his time in office to learn about the matters that affect America. He should have a working knowledge of them BEFORE he runs for office. This man was ill prepared from the get-go.

Lisa: "99% of the entire media has been licking his boots for the last 6 years."

Now let's be fair. It is only 98.9999999% of the time.

Ducky: "You want to escalate that and play chicken with Putin?"

I want us to be strong enough, and speak clearly enough that Putin would think at least twice before advancing his cause to the detriment of the world.

XO: You are hopelessly delusional.

GEC: It's on its way.

SK: "Hate and anger are bad for the complexion, m'dear."

Pots and kettles SK?

Joe, COME ON...because you personally haven't the answers of what actually should be done, you're dead wrong and America has to acquiesce and back off every foreign situation, don't you know that? :-)
Romney was right about Putin (who wasn't, but Obama, who was eager to show more FLEXIBILITY after his second election...? Well, it's worked).

See, apparently, there's nowhere in between leading from behind and carpet bombing when it comes to leftist diplomacy. Go figure.

Z said...

Joe, I suppose you know how much oil Putin has cut off from Ukraine. I have Ukrainian friends who say that every really cold period, or vacation period, he'd cut the oil; so no traveling, no comfort.
He's recently done the same thing, while it was cold.

Sadly, we've lost our mojo and respect. Not much diplomacy works with Putin.
Doesn't work with ISIS, either, as you've seen.

Backing off never helps. Not sure what going forward would look like anymore. We have no clout left, particularly since Obama ridiculously removed the missiles Putin wanted down.
Giving in is never the answer.

Joe - "A man who is president MUST NOT use his time in office to learn about the matters that affect America. He should have a working knowledge of them BEFORE he runs for office."

Can you point to the section of the Constitution that says this is a prerequisite to being elected President?

If I recall, Abraham Lincoln was a self-educated country lawyer and a one-term congressman (from Illinois...just like Barack Obama) before becoming President.

I'd say he did a pretty good job, wouldn't you?

Z: "Joe, COME ON...because you personally haven't the answers of what actually should be done, you're dead wrong and America has to acquiesce and back off every foreign situation, don't you know that? :-)"

Actually, I have the answers, but President BO (the amateur president) hates me so much because of my skin color, he won't ask for my help.

"Giving in is never the answer."

If you're a Namby-Pamby, Lily-Livered, Yellow Bellied, Sap Sucker, like PBO (tap) it is.:)

Putin is now considered the most powerful man on earth. Isn't that sad?

Wow, being inexperienced puts Obama in the Lincoln category? And being from Illinois seals the deal, Xavier?
I don't agree with you on much but I admire your staying civil; thanks for that.
But don't you think this is a leap? It may not say as much in the constitution( you're right), but I'd have thought a wise man with experience being better than one without is kind of expected? Usually? Unless that wisdom can be overlooked by voters because of color and COOL?

I didn't vote for Obama, but I was very moved by the DNC convention and actually shed a tear when I saw young black folks crying from happiness. I remember Whoopi Goldberg said "Now Black folks can unpack their luggage." I SO got that.

But, tho I knew he lied (proven) about not knowing Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright, and that Joe the Plumber stuff hit me wrong, I thought "he couldn't be THAT bad"

Well, he was. And for someone who taught Constitutional Law, what he's doing now is astonishing. See liberal attorney Jonathan Turley's remarks.

Joe, do you know if anything or any appointments actually get overturned when the SCOTUS says Obama was illegal??

Well, z, we have a good idea where you stand on this.

Never mind that the Kiev government is not doing much of anything except pounding the western regions (Donetsk is emptying out).
If we look at the problems of a country that has been pillaged by the oligarchs and left with little but non competitive heavy industry and no investment, it is clear that they need the means for a military response to Putin.

Never mind the difficult economic and governmental issues, when you can give z a proxy cold war, Go For It, correct?

Joe, any comment on the contracts for natural gas delivery that Putin signed with China? Now, who's in a position to use energy as an economic weapon? I don't think you've thought this through.

Is there any way to stabilize the Kiev government and convince the rebels that they can benefit? Tough question and not one most will take up when the cheap spear shaking is there at hand.

Z - "Wow, being inexperienced puts Obama in the Lincoln category? And being from Illinois seals the deal, Xavier?"

No, of course not! But I constantly hear the conspiracy theorists and right wing nut jobs complaining about Obama's inexperience and wondering how a "community organizer" could rise so quickly to the highest office in the land.

My point is no one has experience at being POTUS until they've been POTUS. It's a fairly unique set of skills and there is only one place to acquire them.

"I don't agree with you on much but I admire your staying civil; thanks for that."

I remain civil out of respect for Joe. Yes, I respect our host. In these comments I'm a guest in his house and will behave as such. Mostly.

But if you saw what I post on my Facebook page under my real name, well...let's just say I'm not quite so generous of spirit and leave it at that.

Z: The reason the likes of XO, Ducky, Dave Miller, SK and Craig get to comment here is because they have shown restraint and decorum in their comments.

I have no issue with people respectfully disagreeing with me. This is America, and they have the absolute right to be wrong. I don't mind them venting here, either, as long as they can do it without response rage.

I am a bit flummoxed when they start calling others names. GEC comments here and receives an abundance of disrespect, bordering on deleteworthiness. Lisa is not treated to nicely, either.

Someday they will cross my red line in the sand, and I'm no wuss. I'll delete them with a stroke of my little finger.
