REALLY? How Dumb ARE Americans?

I know all the states, their capitals and their major industries. I was required to know that in grammar school. (Does anybody remember grammar school?)

I also know the Bahamas are not a state. Oh, and they are East of Miami.

What kind of numb skulls are we raising?

I see this all the time. Ask people to just NAME all 50 states and they can't do it. That's when I like to shame them by saying them in alphabetical order in under 60 seconds :oD

Don't give up hope just yet, Joe. My daughter attends public school, and last year in 6th grade she was required to know all the states, their capitals and their biggest industries/crops /exports.

Not all is lost, Joe.

GEC: I'm not sure I could do that any more.

Fredd: I'm impressed! Many kids were supposed to learn them, but if they didn't, there was no significant penalty, so they didn't.

Often children are promoted whether they know the material or not. That's why so many in the video could not name the states, even by their pictures.

Joe,

Before the Public Schools went completely PC, revisionist and liberal, they actually taught us something. There was a song I learned in the 6th grade called "Fifty Nifty United States," and there was a section where we sang the states in alphabetical order. I loved being able to do that and for the rest of my life have recited that list hundreds of times. Which means I can fill the names on a map very quickly!

GEC: I never learned the song, but my mother used to make me recite the states regularly, even after we had finished with them in school.

If your talking about Republican American's, the answer is, Pretty Damn Dumb

SG: "...your..."

I'm thinking you meant "you're" but are just too dumb to know the difference.

To educate you a little: "your" means something that belongs to someone. "Is that your bike?"

"You're" is the proper contraction of "you are," which is what I think you meant.

Feel better educated now?

Joe,
This is off-topic, but I couldn't find a way to email it to you. This is a perfect example as to why he is the "boy president."

I can't imagine any other president behaving in such a childish way.

GEC: That is so coincidental! That is my post for tomorrow, except that as I write this it already is tomorrow, so it's my post for today. My brain hurts.
