The Text:

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received? Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlemen assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne! In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free-- if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending--if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained--we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable--and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace-- but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

President BO (the child president) has added over SIX TRILLION DOLLARS (to date) to the national debt, thus debasing and destroying the currency.

President BO (the child president)'s DOJ, SEC and CFTC allowed Jon Corzine to steal over a billion dollars and effectively destroy the futures and options markets.

President BO (the child president) has looted the United States Treasury and handed billions of dollars in federally guaranteed "loans" to political cronies to skim off of shell companies that are never intended to produce or be profitable.

President BO (the child president) has thwarted every effort for energy production in the United States while handing that same production capacity to the Chinese.

President BO (the child president) has gutted, demoraled and hamstrung the United States Military.

President BO (the child president)'s regime has eliminated due process and given themselves the power to arrest and imprison American Citizens indefinitely at their sole discretion.

President BO (the child president) has formed an alliance with the Islamic Caliphate.

President BO (the child president) has told Catholics that they have no right to their own consciences vis-a-vis contraception, abortifacients and sterilization.

No wonder we love him so much.

I am sick and tired of commenters coming here who are too infantile to control their language.

On your blog (if you're intelligent enough to have one) you can say whatever you please...I don't care.

But here there is no freedom of speech.

The First Amendment says, "Congress shall make no law..."

Well, I am not congress and I CAN make the law here.

You don't curse, swear or be vile in my house and you don't curse, swear or be vile on my blog.

If you can't read the side bar, I will reproduce it for you here. If you went to government school, you probably can't read this, but give it a try.

1. Absolutely no foul language. If you are not man or woman enough to control your language, you are not welcome here...go somewhere else.

2. I am not looking for strings of commenters arguing with each other, so confine your comments to the topic at hand and address your comments to me, unless you can be exceptionally gracious and polite.

One of my commenters (a guy who comments troll-like on many blogs, whose name I won't mention, but who has webbed feet), delights in pointing out his opinion that the Republican candidates are eating each other alive.

I agree.

I am sick and tired of them attacking each other.

The problem is, one of them is going to win and then, all of a sudden, the others will back him to the hilt!

I would much rather hear them say, "This is where I stand on this issue, and this is where I stand on that issue," and let us know who they are, instead of who the others aren't.

That would make me a much more informed voter.

Besides, I have to take every attack, whether by RS, MR or NG with a very large grain of salt.

They are wallowing in half-truth and innuendo, never telling the context or background of whatever attack they are positing at the time.

Heads up, guys! We want men we can vote FOR, not choice of who not to vote for.

Maybe once they read this post they will wake up and start standing for whatever they stand for and stop trying to be who they're not.

But probably not.

ABO REVISITED

So, Newt Gingrich beat Mitt Romney.

As you know, of the three left in the race, I prefer Rick Santorum.

But it looks like we're going to have a president named Newt, Mitt or Barack.

Of those three, Newt would be my choice, but as I said, ABO.

I live in Florida, where the two Republican front runners are now neck-in-neck in the polls.

I will vote for Rick if he is still in the running.

What amazes me about all of this is the absolute transparency of the MSM as they pine for the one who is most likely to enact policies most to their likeing, Mitt Romney.

Of course, Mitt denies that, but his voting record would seem to lend support to their conclusions.

Newt, on the other hand, has "baggage" they love to exalt.

Womanizing was absolutely no issue for the Democrat constituency when it was John Kennedy or Bill Clinton doing it. As we all know, character has nothing to do with one's ability to do the job of the presidency.

But when it is Herman Cain or Newt Gingrich, it is suddenly "character matters."

Herman Cain is crucified over alleged affairs, none of which amounted to anything other than accusations which I suspect were well paid for.

Newt's ex-wife, who has no small ax to grind, comes forward with a preposterous story at a preposterous time, and MSM treats her like she had a sconce of credibility.

The problem is, Democrats, as a whole, have no scruples at all and think it is perfectly proper for their candidate(s) to behave like Chicago thugs, while totally disparaging the Republican who have a iota of imperfection in their "character."

Democrats see facts where there are none, draw erroneous conclusions from the facts that are and hold to their illogical ideology at all costs.

So on we go to Florida.

Whoever wins Florida will likely be the nominee for the Republicans.

Like I said, "Anybody But Obama."

THE "EVILS" OF CAPITALISM

Let me start out by stating that I am a died-in-the-wool, unapologetic capitalist.

In its purest form, capitalism is an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market.

It is a sad thing that in our country capitalism has been corrupted by politicians who have tried to use it to their advantage to get re-elected and business have tried to use it to their advantage to influence politicians to pass laws and/or regulations that favor them.

In a proper capitalistic society, a person (or persons) comes up with an idea that he believes people need or want, finds investors who believe the idea is good, produce the product or service and sell it to as many people as they can...if it will sell at all.

That last part is called "risk," for in a capitalist society a product might not sell at all or it might sell like iPods, it even become an icon like the Slinky.

Productivity is the key in a capitalist society.

When goods and services are produced, they are then sold at a profit. If they are not sold at a profit, the company that makes or provides them goes broke.

What has happened in our country is that capitalism and politics has become very mixed, like eggs in cake batter. The result is a sort of hybrid capitalism that produces the results mentioned above.

What we need is to get government out of capitalism and capitalism out of government.

The first person to come up with a viable way to do that will be the most important person in history.

I watched Charlie Rose (my favorite interviewer to hate) interview George Lucas, a capitalist who hates capitalism, even though he has benefited from it in his every endeavor.

For those who don't know (is there such a one?), Lucas is the one who gave us "Star Wars," and other really stirring movies.

In the interview, he was exercising his capitalism by promoting his newest film, "Red Tails."

I'm quite certain that he hopes the movie makes a profit.

To Rose's credit, he did note at the beginning of the interview that Lucas benefited from capitalism while philosophically being opposed to it, with which Lucas agreed.

Is that hypocrisy?

I don't think so, but you might disagree with me. That's OK. This is America and you have the right to be wrong.

The cry that capitalism is based on greed is a false one, even though there certainly are greedy capitalists, and in abundance, too.

But that is not capitalism's fault. That is the fault of a character flaw that is common to mankind.

There MUST be laws governing capitalism. More correctly there should be ONE law governing capitalism: Don't cause any physical or other harm to others.

How one defines "harm" might be open to discussion, but it does not need to take the form of endless government intrusion.

No business should be too big to fail, and no business should be restricted from succeeding.

We would be much better off as a country if government had kept its big nose out of business...period.

Then the legal system, or natural business forces, could deal with those who abuse the capitalistic system.

(The efficacy of the legal system is a topic for another day.)

Folks like those in OWS have made it clear that they don't understand business, capitalism, profits, payrolls, expenses or anything else about almost anything.

But in-and-of itself, capitalism has provided the most good for the most people of any system ever devised.

More "poor" people have been helped by capitalism than by any other system. More charities have been helped by capitalists than by any other world system. More Americans have been helped by capitalism than by any other system.

The only "evils" of real capitalism are those imagined by Utopians who think a benevolent government of dictators or despots can solve peoples' problems.

ABO IS THE RIGHT TICKET

You may know (or maybe you don't know...I don't know) that I'm not a fan of Mitt Romney.

Watch the video in my last post, and you'll know why.

Make no mistake. I'd take Mitt Romney ove President BO (the hcild president) any day of the week and twice on November 6th.

Today, Rick Perry bowed out of the presidential race and threw his support behind Newt Gingrich.

You may know, (of maybe you don't know...I don't know) that I'm only marginally more of a fan of Newt Gingrich than I am of Mitt Romney.

But I'd take Newt Gingrich over President BO (the child president) any day of the week and three times on November 6th.

So the primary in NC is of no little interest to me.

I live in Florida, and we're a very important state, hanging chads, lawsuits and other Democrat falderall not withstanding.

So I will be very interested in the NC vote, but much more interested in the FL vote, in which I will participate.

Of the people left, I would prefer Rick Santorum, but he (IMHBCO) has little chance...sadly.

One of my commenters made a list of President BO (the child president)'s "accomplishments."

o Steadily created jobs (Actually he has created exactly 0 jobs and has caused several places to close or lay off thousands).

o Steadily reduced unemployment (Actually, unemployment's real figures have remained the same: about 17%).

o Pulled us out of a steep nose dive into a new Great Depression (Actually, some parts of the economy have rebounded by natural causes, but overall, the economy is as bad as it was when he took office).

o Lead us on a steady upward recovery from an inherited recession (All recessions and all recoveries are "inherited." See above for his actual results in this one.

o Killed Osama bin Laden (I believe that was Navy Seals).

o Deposed Hosni Mubarak (Give me an ever-lovin'-blue-eyed break! He didn't depose anybody!)
o Deposed AND killed Muammar Gaddafi (See above 2 responses)

o Oversaw and facilitated the Arab Spring that did more to bring democracy to the Middle East than all of the bombs and bullets that Bush exploded in the region. (There is no democracy as a result of Arab Spring," there is oligarchy and eventual Muslim Brotherhood rule...which is already happening).

Truth is, liberals live in their own little world of pseudo-facts. And they will argue with you until they are blue in the face that they don't. But they do.

So, give me Rick, Newt or Romney (in that order of preference).

And there's Ronald Reagan, Arthur Fielder, Dr. Adrian Rogers, Leonard Bernstein, Wynton Marsalis and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you missed Wynton Marsalis' tribute to Dr. King on "CBS This Morning," you missed a great one.

I have tried unsuccessfully to find it on YouTube or on CBS's website.

But if you can find it, I highly recommend it for a great perspective. (And send me the link in my comments, please.)

As some of you know, I marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in St. Augustine, Florida in 1964.

It was an honor and a bit scary...a white guy being menaced by KKKers and the like, while surrounded by people I was trying to help.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the epitome of the movement from rank prejudice through tolerance and to acceptance of people of a different color and background.

In spite of what the Revvveraand Jaaxonn and other black imitation leaders tell you, racism is not as rampant or as evident as it used to be in our country, largely because of the commitment to peaceful civil disobedience led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Is there a ways to go?

Yes.

But progress is better than regression in race relations.

One of the things I love about the United States of America is that we can accomplish what we collectively and individually want to accomplish if we put our minds and our actions to it.

Dr. King did just that.

He is my hero.

I'm no fan of Gayle King to begin with.

To now see her on CBS's new morning show with Charlie Rose (another imitation interviewer, whose persona in the new format is dismal at best) and the very dumb Erica Hill (who once asked a blind lady's daughter what her mother said the first time she looked into a mirror after her face transplant), just accentuates my opinion of the political leftism of the CBS "newsteam."

Curiosity compelled me to watch her interview with Michelle Obama.

I hoped we would get some valid insights into the rumors flying around about the First Lady's temperment and her excessive spending at taxpayers' expense.

But it turned out to be the sorriest pile of fluff ever perpetrated on the American people.

THE BIGGEST LOSER...US, AS WE LOSE OUR COUNTRY

In 2008, President BO (the child president) criticized George Bush for making a recess appointment.

Now he has done the very thing he criticized Bush for.

He has bypassed Congress and invoked presidential recess appointment authority to appoint Richard Cordray to head up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In doing so he violated about 20 provisions of the Omnibus Spending bill.

He has also violated the Separations of Powers requirements of the Constitution, and has declared the senate to be in recess when it was not (the Senate was in "pro forma session" and technically not in recess).

He declared in a speech in Shaker Heights, Ohio, "When Congress refuses to act and as a result hurts our economy and puts people at risk, I have an obligation as president to do what I can without them, I have an obligation to act on behalf of the American people."

With high sounding words and that big Joker like smile on his face, President BO (the child president) has made himself dictator.

I was ridiculed for saying he has a despotic personality. I was right, and that personality is beginning to reveal itself with more and more assurance as he becomes bolder and bolder in his quest for absolute power.

Here is the look of a despot:

Mitch McConnell declared, "What the president did today sets a terrible precedent that could allow any future president to completely cut the Senate out of the confirmation process, appointing his nominees immediately after sending their names up to Congress, this was surely not what the framers had in mind when they required the president to seek the advice and consent of the Senate."

If he is allowed to get away with this, all of the accusations and warnings issued by the so-called “nut-job right” will have proven to be true.

And we will have lost our freedom and our right to speak out against what the government does or does not do.

We will have lost our country.

JUSTIFYING MYSELF...OR NOT

A guy calling himself Craig (I have no idea whether or not that's his real name. I, myself, use my real name so that anybody who wants a piece of me can come and try to get it. I'm certain I will be at the top of President BO (the child president)'s list of detainees, which he asserts he will never do, even though he signed an order giving himself the right to detain Americans without due process if he wants to.), asked about my last post (see below) if I was drunk.

He called my post "odd."

For the record, I have had only two sips of alcoholic beverage in my 70 years of life, and one of those made me throw up. Cough syrup tastes better.

My post was about the names of our prospective presidents and referred back to a post I wrote some months before the last presidential election.

Being a liberal, Craig (if that's his real name) was unable to see the humorous, quirky nonsense with which the post was written and actually tried to make sense of it.

Bad liberal! Bad liberal!

You shouldn't have received your education at a government school.

See, presidents should have real American names. Names like George, John, Thomas, James, Andrew, Martin, William, (OK, Zachery and Millard weren't so cool), Franklin, Abraham, (Uh...I guess Useless...I mean Ulysses and Rutherford weren't that good either), Chester, Grover (not the guy from Sesame Street, although I must admit I don't know what street Cleveland was from), Benjamin, Ted (Theodore), (Woodrow? Who the heck names his kid Woodrow?), Warren, Calvin, Herbert, Frank, Harry, (OK...I'll give you that Dwight and Lyndon weren't so good), Gerald, Jimmy, and RONALD.

Don't you see that most of those were good old-fashioned, common American names?

Who in the world would name an American child Mitt, Newt or Barack?

And then expect them to run for president?

Then along comes Fredd, and takes my joy away by calling the Iowa caucuses "King Makers."

(He also tries to put soccer ahead of baseball on the boring list, but that's another story...I think).

I prefer to think of Iowa as Chance Killers (not that they kill by accident, but that they kill the chances of some very good people, namely: Michelle and Rick (both solid American names).

I would include Newt in that list, but you already know how I feel about that name.

So Craig, try to keep up, no matter how much of a headache it gives you.

So Iowans have spoken.

Not very clearly, but they have spoken.

Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum have virtually tied in the Iowa caucus.

One report I read said there were only 8 points more for Romney than for Santorum.

Several years ago, before the last election, I wrote a post in which I predicted the winner of the presidency by carefully examining the names of the candidates.

It was absolutely clear that we could not have a president named "Mitt," because that sounded too much like a piece of baseball paraphernalia.

I also said we couldn't have a president named "Newt," because that sounded too much like a lizard. And "Gingrich" sounds like somebody who stole Christmas.

But I was most assuredly certain that we could not have a president with a name like "Barack" or "Obama," because...well, you know what that sounds like.

I thought we needed a president with a good old fashioned American name, like "John" or "Howard."

The blogosphere was amazed at how wrong I was.

We ended up (possibly literally) with the guy with the most un-American name.

Now I still think the name "Mitt" is not appropriate for America, except that baseball (the world's second most boring professional game...preceded only by golf) is considered the American past time, so maybe it fits after all.

As for Santorum...I had a cousin who was schizophrenic and had to be committed to a santorum.

Wait...that was a sanatorium. Or maybe it was a sanitation department...I forget which.

As things stand now (assuming the Iowa caucuses have anything to do with anything), we are stuck with people with dangerous sounding and/or weird names to choose from.

RESEARCH AND THE MEANING OF LIFE

I read a lot.

I usually start my day reading things like The Huffington Post, Media Matters, a couple of liberal blogs, Hot Air, CNS News, The Drudge Report, The American Thinker and then I watch some stuff on the Blaze.

Some of the stuff I remember, some of it I don't.

I also don't always remember which place I got what information, because I read so many article in so many places.

Nevertheless, I AM able to gather the principles presented in those resources and arrange them in my mind for personal analysis and interpretation.

Steven Wright (my favorite stand-up comedian) says, "Stealing an idea from one person is called plagiarism. Stealing ideas from a bunch of people is called research."

I do a lot of research.

Then I write MY conclusions on my blog.

Some of my commenters get upset with me because I don't "document" everything I write, as though failure to document somehow affects it veracity.

Of course, that is utter nonsense.

If Harry Reid said something, he said it whether or not I note the source where I first read about it.

So, I don't document everything I write about.

If you are a liberal and you don't like that...get over it.

This is my blog where I write about what interests me...period.

I don't even care whether or not you believe what I write.

I don't write anything I haven't first documented in my own mind, and that's the only mind that matters to me.

There are some special places I go to read blogs that I really love.

Geeeeez! is one of those places. So is Important Stuff--Or Not.

The are a lot of others, so if I left you out (which I obviously did, since I only mentioned two), please forgive me.

If it is listed on my side bar, I read it almost daily.

I particularly like LR's 25 Immutable Truths About Liberals and his Talking Points.

The thing about research is that its interpretation depends on whether you approach it from a liberal or a conservative point of view.

The same set of facts might well lead to quite different conclusions from a liberal than they do from a conservative.

I'm a conservative.

This blog is about my philosophy of government, which is a very conservative philosophy.

Freedom means not being controlled by the government, that being the very reason we declared our independence from Great Britain.

Government's job is not to provide things for people, but to provide the opportunity for people to pursue the things they want via the vehicles of freedom and responsibility.

The next time you decide to castigate me for not "documenting" what I write, remember this: I am not your student and you are not my professor. This is not a term paper, nor is it a research paper.

REID VOMITS UP THE LIBERAL LIE

He was pushing for his 1.9% surtax on the wealthy when Harry Reid said this:

"Millionaire job creators are like unicorns. They’re impossible to find, and they don’t exist…Only a tiny fraction of people making more than a million dollars, probably less than 1 percent, are small business owners. And only a tiny fraction of that tiny fraction are traditional job creators…Most of these businesses are hedge fund managers or wealthy lawyers. They don’t do much hiring and they don’t need tax breaks."

A little shaky on the facts, but who cares? He is a liberal and if a liberal says it, it is true, just because the liberal said it, whether it is factual or not.

Fact: According to IRS’s Table 1.4 ‘Sources of income, adjustments, and tax size of adjusted gross income, 2009,’ there are 236,883 tax filers with incomes of a million dollars or more.

Using Reid's accounting, only 118 rich people create jobs.

There are exactly 0 unicorns in the world, so right off the bat Reid is wrong.

Nevertheless, there are 236,765 millionaires who collectively earn about a quarter trillion dollars.

According to Reid, only about 118 of them ever hire anybody.

They manage to do this without hiring anyone. These millionaires do their own typing, selling, drafting. public relations, building, and manufacturing. Not one of them needs employees!

Not only that, but they got to be millionaires by "winning life's lottery!"

Hard work, risk taking, paying others to sell their products, etc., had nothing to do with it...right?

They are simply leeches on society, draining us of our ability to give OWSers what they think they are entitled to.

Mr. Reid (and your liberal cohorts), let me inform you, if only from pure linear logic, that is impossible!

They could not have become millionaires in a vacuum. They became millionaires by earning their way, and by paying others to help them get there.

The truth is the opposite of what Reid said. Only about 118 of them did NOT earn their way there.

It seems that truth from a liberal is like a unicorn. It does not exist.

"Christ" is the English term for the Greek Χριστός (Khristós) meaning "the anointed one". It is a translation of the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Māšîaḥ), usually transliterated Messiah.

"mas" is from the word "Mass" as in feast or celebration.

Therefore, "Christmas" is a celebration (and/or feast) of the Messiah's birth.

That's what Christmas is about. It is not about reindeer (red-nosed or not), Santa Claus, getting presents or any secular or other "inclusive" holiday.

Now we learn that the official Christmas tree at the White House has no reference to Christmas or Christ or Jesus or the Nativity.

It does, however, pay homage to President BO (the child president).

It has an ornament in his honor.

And liberals thought we were insulting him by referring to him as The One.

He is not insulted by that. He really thinks he IS The One.

I just find it interesting that a holiday (holy-day...get it?) that has its meaning right in its name is so ignored by our government.

It has not been so in the past.

But with "Hope and Change," Christmas will be changed, and when it is, all hope is gone.

Kim Jung-Il is dead.

His death was announced in an emotional statement read out on national television.

The announcer, wearing black, said he had died on Saturday of physical and mental over-work.

The BBC’s Lucy Williamson in Seoul says his death will cause huge shock waves across North Korea.

To commemorate his life, and to show solidarity over his death, North Korea launched a test of a missile designed to carry nuclear weapons.

I know, his death saddens you deeply, but take heart. The pain of his passing will pass.

This wonderful world leader, charismatic, creative, honest, statuesque, kind, altruistic, honored and loved leader will be missed.

Yeah. I once had a wart on my had. It's gone, now. It is missed in the same way KJI is going to be missed.

To be sure, he had his supporters in the U.S.

Left wing numb-skulls, communist sympathizers along with their hero-leader, President BO (the child president) will all mourn his passing.

Now the question is: Who will replace him?

Some say it will be (or already is) Kim Jung-un, his young son.

That should give you renewed confidence in the role of North Korea in world events.

Only he did it two weeks early (it starts on December 20).

And he did it wrong, by lighting all of the candles on the Menorah at once, instead of one each day as the festival dictates.

He also misconstrued the basic significance of the celebration by proclaiming in some kind of misguided, but meaningful sounding phrase that the Hanukkah story was about "right over might, faith over doubt."

GATOR GUTS EXPLAINED

Yesterday I wrote what seemed to the brain dead readers among you to be just a bunch of personal stuff, some of which was true and some of which was not-so-true or just plain false.

One of those brain dead readers even wrote a comment about how disinterested he was in my personal life and whether or not any of those events really happened.

Before I get to deep into the "hidden" meaning(s) of it all, let me expose my truths and my lies.

Paragraph one was 100% true. So were paragraphs two and most of three. I have never hunted with bow and arrow.

Paragraph four was mostly true, except that I have never walked in or backpacked in the Withlacoochee Forrest.

I HAVE always love alligators and have fished for alligators just as described.

The entire story of me saving a man from a threatening alligator was false (Good job, Ducky, on seeing through that one).

The picture IS of me holding a live alligator, but not the one I did not save the man from. It was taken at a meeting featuring the head of a local animal advocate group. Everybody there got to hold the gator and have his/her picture taken.

So, what's this all about, anyway?

As far as I know, not a single one of my regular readers or commenters actually knows me or anything about me other than what they've read in my blog(s).

So, there would be know way for anyone to actually know what is true and what is not true about what I wrote.

The picture seemed to some to add credibility to the gist of the "save the man" story, or at least to something to do with alligators, but it was really not related to anything else in the post (unless you count my love for alligators).

The true parts of the post were true, even though there is no documentation to verify them. The false parts were false, even though there is no documentation to disprove them.

What happened, happened and what did not happen did not happen, no matter what you may believe or disbelieve about either case.

That which seems to verify a "fact" in one person's mind, is not convincing to another person, and vice-versa.

Most liberals are not the least bit interested in documentation provided by a conservative, because in their minds, all documentation offered by a conservative is tainted by some clandestine agenda.

Similarly, most conservatives do not trust the "documentation" offered by a liberal because in their minds, all documentation offered by a liberal is tainted by some liberal agenda.

So we are faced with a delima: How do we sift through the agendas to arrive at the truth?

Judge Judy often says, "If it doesn't make sense, it isn't true."

Only what "makes sense" to one person, does not make sense to another.

To begin with, "truth" is what actually happened and is not dependent on whatever "spin" one group or another puts on the event in question.

Sometimes there are facts presented that do not lead to the truth of what actually went on.

For example, suppose two people witness an automobile accident.

We all are aware that there are likely to be at least two versions of what happened, neither of which is likely to be entirely true.

"The driver of the Buick ran his car into the side of the Honda" might be factual, but it may not be the whole truth.

It is possible that the driver of the Buick had a seizure and had no control of his vehicle at the time of the crash.

It is also possible that the Honda driver was on his/her cell phone and drove out in front of the oncoming Buick.

There are a myriad of other possibilities.

In the end, investigators will arrive at the most likely cause of the collision, and someone will be charged with causing it.

When we post on a blog, we are usually approaching whatever subject we're addressing from a particular point of view. On a political blog, that point of view will be from some depth of liberalism or conservatism.

If I, for instance, post pictures of OWSers leaving a mess, or making a mess, or engaging in a fight or running around naked, the pictures might or might not be evidence that the whole "movement" is made up of people who would approve of such a thing.

A trip around the blogosphere or over to Google might bring up a few hundred photographs supporting the view that they all think like that.

The preponderance of the evidence might lead one to believe that all OWSers are like that, which may or may not be the case.

On the other hand, if hundreds of pictures of Tea Party events do not show any depictions of people behaving in those same behaviors, one might conclude that no Tea Party members ever do such things.

So how do we arrive at the truth?

One way would be to examine the avowed motives of the members of each group and determine which set of motives might lead to which form of behavior.

Another could be to interview a representative sample from each group and hear what they, themselves, have to say about what they are doing and why.

Ultimately, it is up to the reader to decide what seems to make sense and is therefore closer to the truth.

The evidence seems to me to show that Tea Partiers are cleaner, more organized, more coherent, more polite and more consistent in their stated reason for being than OWSers.

That is a conclusion drawn by me based on "evidence" presented.

For someone else to opine that Tea Partiers are just like OWSers would seem to fly in the face of the "evidence."

Don't miss the point here. The point is not whether one group acts one way and the other group acts another way.

The point is that arriving at truth is the point.

There is no such thing as "your truth" vs "my truth."

Truth is...is...is...well, truth!

True or false: There is no evidence that Earth's atmosphere is behaving any differently today than it has over the eons of its existence.

True or false: There were periods of global warming and global cooling long before the industrial revolution began "spewing pollutants" into the atmosphere.

Newsflash: Neither you, I or any living climatologist was there, so what we have to go on is the interpretation of "evidence" from ice core samples and ground core samples, all of which demonstrate periods of both warming and cooling.

Now, as to man's causation of any current changes in climate, that is conclusion drawn from the facts presented.

We can each draw our own set of conclusions from the data, but if we draw different conclusions, we cannot both be right.

The upshot of it all is this: I write posts on my blog that represent my conclusions from things I have read and watched.

Whether I list all of my documentation or not, the purpose of my blog is not to convince you of how smart I am or how dumb you are. The purpose of my blog is to express what I think is the logical conclusion to be drawn from what I have read and watched.

In fact, if I were to present ALL of my documentation, you would not even read it, because the post would be even longer than this one.

Since liberals typically have the attention span of a 2 year old, and are mostly educated in the progressive leaning government school system, they would not spend the time required to read it any way.

So I shall go on writing what I write, without regard to whether you approve of what I write, are convinced by what I write, like what I write or believe what I write.

Out of the kindness of my heart, I shall afford you the right to read my posts, comment on my posts or completely ignore my posts.

Of this I am certain: There are far more people who will NOT read my posts than will.

And that's OK.

I'll just go back to loving my gators and enjoying my own writing.

GREAT BIG GOBS OF GREASY, GRIMY, GATOR GUTS

I've always been an outdoors man (until osteoarthritis grabbed me by the hip and knee).

In my youth, I played football, first in high school and then in back yard games and pick-up games.

Tennis and raquet ball were obsessions of mine, as was fishing and hunting with bow and arrows.

During my Youth Director years, I taught backpacking, riflery, canoeing, and other outdoor sports. I have led kids backpacking along the entire length of the Florida Trail (though not all at once), including the Ocala National Forrest and the Withlacoochie National Forrest.

But my greatest love was alligators.

I used to "fish" for alligators.

"How do you do that?" you ask.

Well, thank you for asking.

You mess around in the Florida Everglades until you find a small island with a bunch of gators on it, each competing with the others for his place in the sun.

Then you cast a plug near the island.

The gators, thinking it might be food, race each other to the plug. One of them gets there first and grabs it to keep the others from getting his morsel.

Now a gator's mouth is too big and too tough to be hooked by a mere fishing plug, but he will hold on to it for several minutes, death-rolling and thrashing around until he decides that it is not good to eat and lets it go...if he is lucky enough not to get it caught between his teeth.

It's great fun, doesn't hurt the gator (unless you count his being embarrassed at thinking it was good to eat), and gave me and my fishing buddy a good work out.

One day I was driving along Fla. St. Rd 82 headed for Immokalee. I saw a man walking on the side of the road. Behind him, sneaking up on him stealthily was this alligator, surely wanting to eat him for dinner.

I quickly lept from my car, fell on the gator's back, pressed his snout to the ground, whipped out my black tape, which I always carried with me, and taped his mouth shut, thus saving the man's life, for which he thanked me.

Above is the picture of me holding my captured gator.

Some of the above is true, some of it is just made up.

I'll leave it to you to figure out which parts are true and which parts are not.

The all-wise Ducky and XO should have no trouble at all separating truth from fiction.

THE ENERGETIC TRUTH

The United states of America has the largest available natural gas, oil and coal resources combined in the entire world.

Yeah, Joe, you just keep making up those absurd things and don't bother to document them.

I've been saying it for years, and have been royally castigated by very stupid liberals every time I've said it.

And guess what! Even with documentation from IER, a not-for-proft organization that conducts intensive research and analysis on the functions, operations, and government regulation of global energy markets, you liberals will still say I'm nuts and the source is not dependable.

That won't make it true, but you will say it anyway.

The United States has 1.4 trillion barrels of recoverable reserves of oil — or more than the entire world has used in 150 years. That’s enough to fuel the United States for the next 250 years. Add natural gas and coal resources to that and we’re good to go for all the foreseeable future. (Source)

Why, then, are we so dependent on foreign oil and other energy sources?

Well, whether deliberately or otherwise, we have a backward energy policy, based far more on how to get elected than on how to solve our energy problems.

President BO (the child president) told us that solving our energy problem is the first thing on his mind when he wakes up in the morning (as are: our children's education; the economy; creating new jobs and getting re-elected...a really big bunch of first things to think about).

So, what in the world is WRONG with him?

Why can't he see that going after those resources in our very own country would: solve our energy needs within 5 years; create tens of thousands of good paying jobs; increase our respect in the world; go a really long way toward reducing our national debt, reducing our budget deficit and reducing the price of gas at the pump...thus ADDING to the economy?

Either he is stupid, misinformed or deliberately refusing to move toward the solution.

Either way, it is sad.

I would ask: Why not use the energy resources we have to hold us until we can develop real, viable alternatives...something other than those horridly ugly windmill fields (that will kill countless thousands of birds, by the way and which no lawmaker wants in his back yard),

or those delicate, equally ugly fields of solar panels, just waiting for the next good hurricane and so utterly devastating to the environment?

Come on people!

We don't have the alternatives yet!

We DON"T!

We just plain and simple don't have them!

For instance, today's crop of battery operated cars are an absolute joke!

They will come!

They WILL!

( I personally think the solution is the use of hydrogen for fuel, which exhausts only water when it is used in vehicles.)

But they are not here yet! And if we chose to suffer until they get here, we will never have them!

For the future of the country's sake, and for the sake of our children and grandchildren, let's get this economy back on track by making use of the abundant resources of natural gas, oil and coal that we have!

TRUE COLORS

In Alabama, an OWS member suffered a grande mal seizure while screaming opposition to Glenn Beck even being allowed to live, let alone sign books.

You would think dozens, or at least a few OWSers would have come to his aid.

Fact is, one OWS lady helped keep his head from crashing on the sidewalk, but not one other OWSer stepped up to help...not one.

You know who DID help?

Glenn Beck's entourage.

They prevented the fellow from further injury, as is common with those who suffer seizures, until EMS got there and took him to a local hospital.

After treatment at the hospital, the man DEMANDED that the hospital take him back to the protest site...something I don't think hospitals are designed to do.

Now I ask, which ones of these people were this man's neighbors, the OWSers who stood around and did nothing, or the members of the hated conservative group against whom they were railing?

If you don't know the answer, you are a useless nincompoop.

Do you find it remotely interesting that the MSM delved deeply into the "lack of Black American" presence at the Tea Party events because that was very important and significant, while an even smaller percentage of black participants at OWS events is not newsworthy?

When the Tea Party "ignores" Black Americans it is called racism.

When OWS ignores Black Americans, it is not racism, it is....well, what the heck is it, anyway?

African American memoirist and abuse survivor, Stacey Patton writes:

"Blacks, who make up roughly 12.6 percent of the population, make up only about 1.6 percent of OWS protesters.

"Many Blacks are turned off by OWS events because OWS protesters did nothing as long as only Blacks experienced high unemployment and economic marginalization. The American left’s deep seated and racist indifference to Black pain, in other words, permeates a protest movement the white left thinks is the most exciting American social movement in decades."

My analysis of the matter is that OWS is made up of so many whiney, lazy, somphomoric, spoiled "hippies" from well-to-do families that true social injustices are of no interest to them and they just want to gather for fun and profit.

You might disagree, and that's alright. This is America and you have a right to be wrong.

These dolts protest the very thing that allows them to protest the very thing they are protesting.

No matter how many degrees any of them have, they are all idiots.

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

I believe in civil disobedience.

I have taken part in it.

In 1964 I sat at a lunch counter with a group of "occupiers" who were members of a minority seeking to help overcome almost 200 years of their oppression.

As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led, I marched with hundreds of those same minority members as they made their way down the streets of St. Augustine.

The protest was peaceful and all the protesters did was to sing songs like, "We Shall Overcome."

These protesters did not try to prevent anyone from carrying on their daily routines nor did they interrupt the normal flow of business.

Anyone who wanted to join them at the "all-white" lunch counter was welcomed, and although only whites were offered lunch service, no fights broke out and the place was kept clean.

At the end of the day, Dr. King had been arrested and subsequently released, the marchers had made their point, and everybody went home for a night's rest.

Spotty protests continued throughout the week, but no violence occurred, at least none that was known by us or reported by the infallible Walter Cronkite.

This was satisfying and effective protest.

Over the years, things DID get better for that minority group and today they have as much opportunity as any American to make it in life.

What this all illustrates is that progress can be made through peaceful protests, and proper civil disobedience without requiring the protesters to instigate violence, behave uncivilly, and otherwise commit mayhem.

While the Civil Rights protests DID encounter violence in some places, they were not the perpetrators of that violence.

To be sure, there are greedy CEOs of some large corporations. There are greedy CEOs of small corporations. There are greedy protesters in OWS.

Greed is a vice common to humanity, and OWS is not going to overcome it.

Civil protest, coupled with civil disobedience is one thing.

This OWS crowd is something else altogether.

And it is disobedient without being civil.

One of the greatest lies in recent years has been the so-called "man-made" climate change (quietly changed from the prior "global warming" designation when it was found that the globe is not warming).

Here is an excerpt from an article that further exposes the scandal among "scientists" on the subject:

A new batch of 5,000 emails among scientists central to the assertion that humans are causing a global warming crisis were anonymously released to the public...

Three themes are emerging from the newly released emails: (1) prominent scientists central to the global warming debate are taking measures to conceal rather than disseminate underlying data and discussions; (2) these scientists view global warming as a political “cause” rather than a balanced scientific inquiry and (3) many of these scientists frankly admit to each other that much of the science is weak and dependent on deliberate manipulation of facts and data.

Phil Jones, a scientist working with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)wrote:

“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we get – and has to be well hidden...”

I support "first responders," police, fire persons, EMS, etc.

Police, in general, are there to help keep the peace, with some stipulations as to the extent they can go to do so, as determined by federal and state constitutions, laws and ordinances.

But this is too far to go.

The police involved in this incident, and anybody who was involved in ordering them to do this deed, should be summarily fired.

Period.

While I totally disagree with most of what OWS stands (or in this case, sits) for, I am totally enraged at how the police handled this incident.

The city of Santa Cruz put together a list of 93 complaints about behavior at Occupy Santa Cruz.

At least one incident on the county list wasn’t noted by the Sheriff’s Office: the discovery of an estimated 200 pounds of human feces near the county Veterans Memorial Building, just across the Water Street bridge from the camp.
The county called in a hazardous materials team to clean up the mess, and installed a security fence around the building, which is closed for renovations. There is no evidence that linked the excrement to the camp.

No evidence?

Maybe.

But there is an extraordinary coincidental proximity:

Now, who would have 200lbs of human feces on hand to dump anywhere? Maybe somebody camping with inadequate bathroom facilities.

The camp at Santa Cruz had enormous sanitary issues.

SoCal Street Cart Vendors Hurting After ‘Occupy’ Group Splatters Blood, Urine

A business owner near the Occupy Wall Street encampment claims she has been repeatedly harassed and threatened with bodily harm by protesters after she and her employees refused to give in to their outlandish demands.

“I’ve been told, ‘Watch your back!’ 10 times,” Stacey Tzortzatos, owner of Panini & Co. Breads, located across from Zuccotti Park, told The Post yesterday.

She and her employees are terrified by the constant threats, which she said began after she demanded the protesters stop using her shop’s restroom as a place to bathe every day.

The final straw came about two weeks ago, when the demonstrators broke a bathroom sink, flooding the shop, and clogged the toilet -- setting her back $3,000 in damages.

A man in a three piece suit approached. "I'm a college graduate and I majored in balloon color science. I had over 12 professors who taught me all I need to know about balloon color and I say, it's a mauve balloon, and I should know...I have a college degree."

"College degree or not," exclaimed the Balloon Lady, "This is a red balloon and your snotty, high-brow attitude won't change my mind."

College Guy shot back, "You are SO narrow minded. You just can't see things the way others see them. Grow up! Get a life!"

A little child came up to the lady with the balloon.

Who do they think took their jobs?

Their jobs began their decline when Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and their friends ordered financial institutions to make loans to people who they knew could not pay them back.

Their jobs continued to decline when the government "helped" corporations with hand-outs called "stimulus," 80% of which never made it to the ones they were supposed to help. The rest of it went to "green" companies that promptly went bankrupt.

So, if among OWS' desires is to have work, why don't they just pay each other?

Or, they could select a few of themselves to be the hirers, while the rest of them are the hirees.

No, that won't work.

The hirers would then become the bad guys and make too much money.

Maybe some of them could think of something the rest of the world wants...something like the iPhone...and make millions on it.

Talk about irony...that would take the cake.

23.This jobs bill will put teachers and police officers and firefighters back on the job. (If it puts ANY of them back to work it will only be for one year, after which they become the responsibilities of their state/county/city).

So there are a few of the 100 or so out-and-out lies told by President BO (the child president).

Did you happen to notice how many of those lies were unnecessary lies? They did nothing to help him or the program/people he lied about, and they wer so obviously untrue.

That kind of lying is generally reserved for pathology.

Is there really no one in "public" (read: government) education who can see a correlation between the absence of applying the board of education to the seat of knowledge and the rise of bullying in schools?

OK, so let's concede that "spanking" is not the only issue contributing to the problem.

There's also the removal of the right to encourage and lead prayer in "public" (read: government) schools.

There is the removal of the teacher's right to enforce discipline in the classroom.

Also up for consideration is the intimidation of those who might be tempted to report bullying for fear of retribution (related to the above issues).

One might also consider the false premise that how one dresses has no relationship to his/her ability to learn.

This last one might or might not be true on its surface, but learning to dress properly is a part of the discipline of corporate learning ("Corporate" meaning doing things together, not a form of business).

Add these conditions all up (along with some others you might be able to think of), and you have an environment specifically designed to encourage bullying without consequences.

I heard on a news report this morning that two kids found to have been bullying another will be suspended from school for a week!

WOW!

In those bully's minds, that amounts to a reward for bullying: a week off from school!

Do schools of education no longer understand the basics of learning?

"Learning" is defined as a relatively permanent change of behavior and/or understanding as a result of stimuli.

Effective learning is accomplished through primary positive reinforcement for good results and primary negative reinforcement for bad results.

In other words: reward good accomplishment and punish bad behavior or "negative accomplishment."

Getting an "A" on a test, being a part of a positive event and good behavior are things that should be rewarded.

Getting an "F" on a test, being a part of a negative event (such as a gang bullying a kid), and cutting up in class are among the things that should be punished (given that the learner is mentally capable of learning).

For punishment to accomplish its goal (the change of behavior), it must be meaningful to the punished.

There are basic principles of education that have been abandoned in order to "preserve the child's self-image."

NEWS FLASH!

"Self-image" is greatly...really greatly...overrated.

One's "self-image" can come in two forms: self-centered, arrogant pride and a proper understanding of how one's accomplishments can better the plight of society (read: others).

It is time to return to the precepts of learning that used to be in place before the federal government got involved in the day-to-day operation of our institutions of learning.

Except as related to the six functions of government laid out in the Constitution, government is always the problem and is never the solution.

Failure to recognize that is why even the government is consistently involved in bullying.

I am a supporter of Herman Cain.

In case you are not that familiar with him, you can read a brief biography HERE.

Now I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times I have read that the Tea Party and anybody who did not vote for President BO (the child president) or who does not support him, or who does not agree with him is racist.

My question to liberal/progressives is: If Herman Cain becomes the Republican nominee and runs against President BO (the child president), will those who vote against him, who do not support him or who do not agree with him be accused of racism?

“Built a factory” is a summary for a lot of work. Put up equity, designed a business, took risk to buy land, get permits, pay property taxes and use taxes and permit fees. Then, bought a bunch of equipment and had it installed …and paid sales taxes. Hired some employees and paid them a bunch of money and paid payroll taxes on top of that. Bought a bunch of raw materials from companies that paid a bunch of salaries and a bunch of taxes. Building a factory is a huge private investment that pays the public a lot of taxes for the right to be built.

“But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for.”

Between fuel taxes, license fees, tolls and various taxes on transportation related activities, the roads budget is smaller than the total tax take.

No, you did not educate them. You babysat them for 12 years. Then I hired them, taught them how to be responsible and show up for work, taught them how to communicate in clear sentences, taught them that there are rights and wrongs and (unlike with your schools) wrongs have consequences in the workplace. Then paid for extended education for my employees so they could continue to improve themselves and better add value to what we do around here.

Funny, my factory has 24/7 security guards because the last time it was broken into, the police did not even bother to take a report, they just said “call your insurance company”. As for fire? The closest fire department is 10 miles away. My insurance company requires that I have a full wet sprinkler system to qualify for insurance because there is no local fire protection.

“You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory, and hire someone to protect against this, because of the work the rest of us did.”

Well, that is not exactly true. When the AFL-CIO tried to unionize my workforce, they staged three days of noisy protests outside my factory. The police forces just stood around and watched as the protesters intimidated my workers, vandalized their cars and destroyed my property.

I have an idea, and I'd like you to join me in it.

I am going to manufacture a "green" product and sell it!

Now this new product is going to cost me $6.00 per unit to produce and I will sell it for $3.00 per unit.

Would you like to get in on the deal?

All you have to do is send money to the government and they will give me a few billion dollars to keep my company going.

Just imagine how long I could keep producing units at $6.00 each and selling them at $3.00 each if the government helps me do it.

Do you think you might make millions on the deal?

That is exactly, precisely what happened at Solyndra, the much touted "green" solar-panel company.

President BO (the child president) and his minions in his administration used Solyndra as an example of how wonderful "green" companies are for the economy and how just a little "stimulus" would help them succeed.

They helped, all right, to the tune of $528 million tax payer dollars.

Vice President, Joe Biden, rejoiced with us as he proclaimed how much good the "stimulus" would do and how proud he was of the jobs "created" or "saved" at this wonderful "green" company. These would be "...jobs of the future. Jobs you can raise a family on..."

He proclaimed that these jobs would serve as a foundation for a stronger American economy. He said he was "really happy" that we closed a $528 million loan guarantee for Solyndra.

And what were the results of this economic philosophy?

The company went bankrupt, the $528 million tax payer dollars were lost and 1,100 jobs are gone.

Even someone as stupid and narrow minded as a liberal/progressive could see that this was a bad deal.

Furthermore, there is more than ample evidence that the government knew there were problems at Solyndra before the loan guarantees were made.

But in the mind of the liberal/progressive, intent trumps results.

When are you idiots going to wake up and realize that your Pollyannic, Utopian ideas sound great in a college Sophomore bull session, but they never have, do not now and never will work?

To the liberal/progressive mind, government bail-outs, stimuli and guaranteed loans are capital.

They are not.

Capital is what is raised by a company from investors who expect a return on their investment in exchange for their dollars.

Are you asking us to believe that you believe the government believes a unit costing $6.00 and being sold at $3.00 is going to return an "investment" (read: tax dollars) to the tax payers?

Really?

Are you liberal/progressives that obtuse?

Fine!

I have a great new idea!

OK. It's not all that new, but it can make you and me rich!

Here's what it will do.

You send me money...any amount of money...it doesn't matter how much.

I will guarantee you a return of your investment with interest.

In exchange, I will keep a small portion of your money for myself, to use as I please.

Now, the way I will pay you will be by enrolling new "members" into my plan.

I will use their money to pay you, so that your return is realized in a timely manner.

If you stop "contributing" to the system, don't worry. We'll enroll enough new people to keep your payments coming, and if not, we'll just charge more to get into the system.

I promise to set up a "fund" from which to make payments to you in case the system is not bringing in enough cash at any given moment.

Doesn't that sound like a good deal?

It's called a Ponzi scheme.

A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to separate investors, not from any actual profit earned by the organization, but from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors.

The Ponzi scheme entices new investors by offering returns other investments cannot guarantee, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.

The perpetuation of the returns that a Ponzi scheme advertises and pays requires an ever-increasing flow of money from investors to keep the scheme going.

The system is destined to collapse because the earnings, if any, are less than the payments to investors.

It's the deal that sent Bernie Madoff to prison.

It's also the deal you get with Social Security.

The money you pay in now is not used to pay you when you retire; it is used to pay those who are presently retired.

The money you get when you retire will come from those who are still working when you retire.

Turns out that Rick Perry was right.

WHAT’S THE POINT?

As demonstrated in the comments section of this blog almost every time I write about almost anything, the most narrow minded people on earth are American liberal/progressives (a trait they share with radical Islamists).

Nothing factual I write here is likely to turn the light on inside their heads. Nothing is going to change their minds about anything, because they live by emotion, not by truth.

Some bloggers get more readers in one day than I've gotten in the whole time I've been blogging.

So, why do I bother blogging?

1. I like blogging.
2. Blogging gives me an opportunity to express myself.
3. Blogging allows me to peacefully protest what my gluttonous government is doing.
4. Blogging gives me power…power to decide what gets “said” in my “house.”
5. Blogging allows me to share the views of others…sometimes others with whom I disagree.
6. Since our government (as well as governments around the world) wants to limit and/or control blogging, I figure I’d better do all of it I can while I can.
7. Blogging gives me the chance to express what I believe, regardless of what the reader believes or of what the reader thinks about what I believe.
8. Blogging gives me a reason to research various topics and thus stimulate my mind.
9. When I blog, I get to read other people’s blogs, something I probably would not do were I not involved, myself.
10. Through blogging I get to consider others’ ideas and thoughts, and either accept them or reject them, based on my own personal evaluation of them.
11. I love irritating liberal/progressives on my blog.
12. At least when I blog, my fingers get exercise.

So there you have it.

That’s why I blog.

Aren’t you glad you learned that?

(Of course, if you’re a liberal/progressive, you probably didn’t learn anything anyway).
