FINDING THE DEBT SOLUTION

If you are interested in seeing the what our debt really is, click on The National Debt Clock In Real Time.

We are adding to the national debt at the rate of $5billion every day!

Presently the national debt is over $15 trillion dollars.

That's a lot of money...but how much is it really?

Most people cannot conceptualize that amount of money. How much is a trillion, anyway?

Perhaps we can find a way to express it in terms we understand. Let's think of it in terms of seconds. You know, 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 seconds every hour, 86,400 seconds in a day, 31,536,000 every year.

So, how long ago was a million seconds ago? What's your gut estimate? One day ago? Ten days ago? One hundred days ago? A year ago?

The answer is: 12 days ago.

Well then, how long ago was a billion seconds? Was it a year ago? Maybe ten years ago or twenty.

Actually 1,000,000,000 seconds ago was thirty two (32) years ago.

That's the difference between one million and one billion.

OK. Let's consider a trillion seconds ago...how long ago was that? One hundred years? Five hundred years? More like a thousand?

One trillion seconds ago was 31,688 years ago!

Look at it another way.

If you earned $1million every day, and you started in the year 0, how many trillions would you have today?

The answer is, you wouldn't even have earned $1trillion dollars. That would take you almost another thousand years.

And the United States of America is over $15trillion in debt. It also has over $117trillion in unfunded liabilities!

So what is the answer to our debt/unfunded liabilities issue?

Tax the rich at a higher rate so we could pay it down?

Won't work. Won't even make a dimple in the polished door panel of the debt.

In fact, if you took every asset of every person making over the magic $250,000.00 floor, you would not make a significant dent in the debt. NOT A DENT!!!

The problem is you have no idea how much $15trillion is, so it seems like a few billion here and a few billion there should take care of it.

It won't. Raising taxes to make rich people "pay their fair share" will not make one iota of difference to our debt and it will continue to rise at the rate of $5billion per day or more, even if we increase taxes on the rich.

So let's try freezing spending at present levels AND making the rich pay "their fair share."

If we do that, you, your children, your grandchildren and your great grand children will all be dead before we begin to see a drop in the debt, and then it will be so slow that we'll barely notice.

What IS the answer?

First, it will take a new mind set.

Every person in America will have to be taught from Kindergarten through University that the government owes them nothing except protection from outside attackers, encouragement, an equal opportunity to succeed (not an equal outcome), and fairness under the law.

They will have to be taught that accomplishment is hard and will require them to work. They will have to understand that it is their hard work and accomplishment that will raise their self esteem, not mantra spouted by so-called "teachers."

Secondly, government will have to remove all hindrances to any person who wants to do what it takes to succeed in life in business or work. That means getting out of their way.

Stop with the reams of paperwork to start and run a business. Stop with the unreasonable fees and restrictions to their progress and success.

This will increase the number of people who succeed, the number of people who will be employed to help them succeed and thus the number of people who pay taxes.

Thirdly, government will have to institute a form of taxation that is reasonable, simple and treats everybody equally.

That can only be accomplished by a flat tax (I would suggest 11%) on every earned dollar over the "poverty" level (I would suggest $25,000.00/year), with no deductions or special treatment of any kind.

On one 4 X 8 card taxes could be figured like this:

Line 1. How much did you or your corporation earn? $50,000.00.
Line 2. Subtract $25.000.00.
Line 3, Enter the difference here: $25,000.00.
Line 4 Multiply line 3 by .11.
Line 5. Enter the prduct here: $2,750.00.  That is how much you owe in taxes.

You may pay it in 12 equal installments of $229.17 or all at once. Make your check(s) payable to the US Treasury.

Fourthly, government will have to reduce real spending.

That means "sacred cows" (yours and mine) will have to fall by the wayside. Special interest groups and lobbyists will have to be ignored and/or dismantled.

That will take guts by the politicians, a strong will on the part of the citizens and perseverance over time.

Fifthly, the government will have to learn to live within its means, no matter what.

There are other things that will have to be done, as well. Things concerning the balance of trade, the issues of goods and services from outside the country and a myriad of other important international considerations.

If we have not already reached the tipping point, we are very close.

I happen to believe that we can avoid the coming catastrophe if, and only if, we are committed enough to do what it takes.

Failure to act now will result in unintended consequences in the very near future.

Who has the courage to take the steps necessary for the survival of our nation?

THE ALPHABET GAME AND KILLER SPEECHES

One of the things President BO (the child president) does is to speak without either thinking or without doing proper research on his topic.

He does it a lot, and seems not to care at all.

In the same sentence he called the Marines a corpse when he meant corps (they ARE two different things, you know).

Now he has done it again.

At the annual National Urban League convention in New Orleans, referring to the theater massacre, he said, “A lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals,” Mr. Obama said . “They belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities.”

There used to be a deacon in our church who frequently said, "I'm hearing a lot of people say...." then he would make a statement that he, himself, believed, but that he had really not heard anybody say.

"A lot of gun owners..." is exactly that same kind of statement.

President BO (the child president) probably doesn't know any gun owners, or if he does, he does not know that they own guns. But since he believes his statement to be true, the facts about it are irrelevant to him.

If, as PBO(tcp) says, AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, they do NOT belong in the hands of US soldiers, because US soldiers do not use AK-47s. They use M16s.

The Colorado theater killer James Holmes wasn’t using an AK-47, he was using an AR-15, the semi-automatic, civilian version of the M16.

As far as I know, all law abiding gun owners believe AK-47s shouldn’t be in the hands of criminals.

Obama also spoke of Columbine and Virginia Tech, both gun-free campuses where students were left as sitting ducks before they were mowed down.

Remember to that the Second Amendment isn’t about the American hunting and shooting heritage, it’s about the people protecting themselves from the government. It's also about defending yourself rather than building the kind of police state necessary to obviate the need for self-protection.

President BO (the child president) also spoke of pushing gun control without the help of that pesky thing called Congress.

On this point he is correct. Last summer the Department of Justice, the same department responsible for funneling 2500 AK-47s and .50 caliber rifles to the Mexican drug cartels (criminals) through Operation Fast and Furious, pushed through a new long gun reporting measure for Southwest border gun dealers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

So let me ask you: If you were president of the United States, the smartest man ever to be president, a former Constitutional lecturer, a former Harvard Law Review editor and the most credible man to hold the office in history, wouldn't you want to get your facts straight before opining on the matter that could remove all vestiges of that credibility from your speech?

Or would you just LIKE speaking like an amateur?

E PLURIBUS UNUM?

Sorry, Mr. Amateur President. Our National Motto is: "In God We Trust." Even so, the rest of the video tells even more about him. President BO is, indeed, the child president. And the end of the video is very good. Reminds me of Numbers 2 in the Bible.

A LESSON IN WORK ETHIC

God, Not Government, Helped Me Succeed, Mr. President

Here's my open letter To Barack Hussein Obama:

Mr. Obama,

You recently made a statement to the effect that, ”If you have a business you didn't build it, you had help," implying that the federal government helped build our businesses by virtue of paving roads and building bridges and keeping the nation safe from foreign invasion.

First of all, Mr. Obama, if I'm going to take advice about business it will not be from somebody who has had absolutely no business experience like yourself.

Secondly, Mr. Obama, I vehemently disagree with your premise.

Where was your government when I spent as much as 16 weeks away from my wife and infant son to get a business started?

Where were you on those cold winter nights when my old bus broke down in the middle of nowhere and we had to scramble to make the next show, nobody from the government came along to give us a ride?

Where was your government when I had to borrow money from a bank to make my payroll?

Where was your government while I was digging out of a two million dollar debt, playing every smoky beer joint I could to keep from losing everything I owned?

Mr. Obama, I want to make you aware of a fact. It is the federal government's responsibility to build roads and bridges and keep the nation safe. That's what the federal government is supposed to do, not create an entitlement society that is totally unsustainable and pile up debt that we can't pay.

And who do you think paid for those roads and bridges in the first place, and have been doing it for 200 years before you were even born?

The citizens of this nation do not need to pay more taxes, the federal government needs to stop spending money it doesn't have and has to borrow. Because the truth of the matter is that no matter how much taxes the government collects, things are only going to get worse because you'll only spend it and demand even more.

Mr. Obama you have divided this nation by making the have-nots believe that anybody who has been successful has done so at their expense, that anything they've accumulated has been stolen, not earned. That hard work and risk had nothing to do with their success, because they’ve just been lucky and should give a big part of what they earn to the government to pass on to those who don't even try to be successful.

Look at what’s going on with the African-Americans who put their hopes and complete confidence in you and voted overwhelmingly for you. The unemployment rate is 14% and the unemployment among young African Americans is something like 40%

Is that what hope and change is all about?

Look at what's happening in your hometown of Chicago where the murder rate is through the roof.

Do you think your baseless rhetoric about the unfairness of the successful in America is going to help soothe the situation?

Have you ever considered reaching out to them, instead of fanning the flames?

Mr. Obama I don't think you like America very much. I think you'd like to redesign it from the ground up, to turn it into a lazy, unproductive, secular, socialist society.

Well, that just wont flush in a lot of ways, the most prominent being that when all the productive people have given up and stopped trying, when all the investors stop investing, when 80% of the population is living on government hand outs, your government is going to run out of money and this nation will sink into chaos.

But Mr. Obama, I’m beginning to think that's what you want.

My help cometh from the Lord who made Heaven and Earth - not the government who made debt and class envy.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

God Bless America
Charlie Daniels

YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT

Most people have been taught that satire, ridicule and nonsense are the same thing. They are not.

Satire is mis-direction.

"Gulliver's Travels" is satire, Saturday Night Live is ridicule and nonsense.

Here is a GREAT satire from a blogger who calls himself Iowahawk.

This is not all of it, so I encourage you to read the rest of it here.

Readings from the Book of Barack

1. In the beginning Govt created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the economy was formless and void, darkness was over the surface of the ATMs, and the Spirit of Govt was hovering over the land.

3 And Govt said, “Let there be spending,” and there was spending. 4 Govt saw that the spending was good, and that it separated the light from the darkness. 5 Govt called the spending Investments, and this he did in the first day.

6 Then Govt said, “Let there be roads and bridges across the waters, and let dams divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus Govt made the infrastructure and the patronage jobs for eternity under the firmament from the Potomac which was above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And Govt called the firmament Washington. This Govt did on the second day.

9 Then Govt said, “Let the regulations and the guidlines under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the Bureaus appear”; and it was so. 10 And Govt called the Bureaus demigovts, and the gathering together of them He called AFSCME. And Govt saw that it was good.

11 Then Govt said, “Let there be police, and firefighters, and teachers according to their kind, for they will create more jobs”; and it was so. 12 And then Govt bade the void bring forth crime, and arson, and stupidity, that each would yield seed to bring forth more police, and firefighters, and teachers, and jobs. And Govt saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 On the fourth day Govt said, “Let Us make the economy in Our image, according to Our likeness; let it have dominion over the cars of the road, over the appliances of the supercenters, and over the pet groomers of the strip malls, over all the clickthroughs of Amazon and over every creepy thing of the Dollar Stores.” 15 So Govt created the economy in His own image; services and wholesale and retail He created them. 16 Then Govt blessed them, and Govt said to them, “Be fruitful and use the multiplier effect; fill the land with jobs; thou have dominion over thy realm, within limits, as long and thou remember to get thy permits and tithe thy taxes, for they are good. Hope to see you at the fundraiser.”

17 And on the fifth day Govt made an official Govt holiday, and headed off for a 3-day golf weekend at Camp David. But first Govt said to the economy, "you are free to eat from any tree in the garden, except the tree of Knowledge. There is a serpent in that thing, and thy health care does not cover it."

Come on! Read the rest of it before you comment on it. I dare you!

A HOLE IN THE SOUL

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

A demented man goes to the opening of "The Dark Knight Rises" and starts shooting, killing 12 people and wounding many others.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

The liberal media immediately starts in on how he must have been a conservative Tea Party maniac.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

The Tea Party and conservatism had nothing to do with this atrocity.

For the sake of argument, let's say he proclaimed himself to be a conservative and did the dastardly deed.

Just saying you're a conservative does not make you a conservative.

No more than saying you're a fighter jet makes you a plane.

And if there are conservatives who think he did this despicable act because he is some leftist liberal, they are no better than the liberal media making him out to be representative of conservatives.

This is not about liberalism and conservatism. It is about depravity.

I have never met a liberal who thinks it is appropriate to shoot a child and a baby in the back. Never.

Neither have I ever met a conservative who thinks so.

But this I can say with confidence: There is a hole in the soul of our country.
The trouble is, most of our country does not recognize the source of that hole.

Psychiatrists will be called in to analyze this guy's psyche. They'll probe his childhood, his attitudes, his loner-ship, his bad influences and all of the other psychobabble they espouse.

Gun control advocates will rush in to take away more liberties from Americans and in the process will render them even less able to defend themselves.

I wonder how many people might have been saved if one or more of that crowd had been licensed carriers of a fire arm.

Some actually think it is better that he did what he did, rather than have people who knew how to defend against such acts take action.

A few nights ago, a couple of men who were illegally in possession of guns tried to rob a place. A 71 year old licensed carrier pulled his gun, shot one of the robbers and chased them right out of the place.

How much better would it have been to have just let them have the money and maybe shoot whoever they decided to shoot?

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

We have witnessed Columbine, Fort Hood, and many, many other inexcusable actions by crazed gunmen and stood idly by with our socio-psychological pablum and just watched it happen, without even beginning to realize what the real source of these issues is.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

We have watched in horror as radical Islamists carried out a diabolical plot and brought down the Twin Towers in New York and blew away part of the Pentagon.

And we dare not place the blame squarely on the shoulders of those horrible radicals who celebrated the deed.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

We will continue to teach our children that absolute tolerance of every aberrant life-style is the only "moral" way to go. And they will grow up believing it, never realizing the unintended consequences of that attitude.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

And far too many Americans cannot fathom the source of that hole. They will bristle if you even try to point it out.

We have politicians who stoop so low as to attack the wife of one running for president because she rides horses as a part of her therapy for MS. And "lock-steppers" join right in with them, with such vile attitudes that I hesitate to consider them Americans in any sense of the word.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

We have people who believe, and indeed many who practice, injecting saline into the womb of an expectant mother because "she has the right to do what she wants with her own body," even though DNA proves beyond any shadow of a scientific doubt that a pre-born baby is not a part of the woman carrying him/her.

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

Where once people felt free to express themselves spiritually in every venue, including public and government places, now they are relegated to certain areas and excluded from others in the name of a mythical "separation of church and state."

There is a hole in the soul of our country.

There is a solution to the hole in the soul of the country.

It is neither difficult nor secret.

It IS hated, however, for it reveals the overwhelming attitude of the populace that each person should be able to say, "I want what I want, when I want it, where I want it, how I want it and I want it right now. And if you have it, so should I and I shouldn't have to work for it like you did. I should just be able to take it, by force or by government edict."

How low must we get before we realize that There is a hole in the soul of our country, and we need the Filler more than we need anything else in the Universe?

FAMOUS GEORGE BUSH GAFFS

"I've been to, I think, 57 states..and one to go"

"...corpse man..." (3 times in one speech)

"...the Austrian language..."

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

(Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965)

"Iran doesn’t pose a serious threat to us”

"...the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor..."

Speaking via satellite to the Democratic National Convention, while in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 25, 2008:

"I'm here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis."

On a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people:

"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed."

"Israel is a strong friend of Israel's."

"Let me introduce to you the next President -- the next Vice President of the United States of America, Joe Biden."

"No, no. I have been practicing...I bowled a 129. It's like -- it was like Special Olympics, or something."

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes -- and I see many of them in the audience here today "

OH WAIT! THOSE WERE NOT GEORGE BUSH! THEY WERE PRESIDENT BO (the child president)!

What an orator!

TRUE COLORS ALWAYS SHOW UP EVENTUALLY

On Friday, July 13, 2012,  in Roanoke, Va, in a campaign speech justifying taxing the wealthy President BO (the child president) said:

"You know, there are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me, because they want to give something back," Obama said in a campaign speech. "They know they didn't -- look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own.

"I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there."
...

"It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
...

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help."
...

"If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

He went on to explain how successful businesses use roads, bridges and other amenities provided by the government without which they would not be rich. He pointed out their "wonderful" teachers, fire fighters and police forces.

What a total outrage!

It's as though he either does not know or will not acknowledge that teachers, fire fighters, roads, bridges, etc., are made possible by ALL taxpayers, not just the "rich business people." And they are used by rich and poor alike.

Lots of people attend public schools and have teachers. Very few of them become wealthy. Everybody uses the roads and bridges the factory owner uses to bring his products to market. But not everyone builds a factory.

The tax dollars that paid for those roads, bridges, schools, and teachers didn't just come from "someone else" or the "rest of us." They came from the innovators, the factory owners, and the entrepreneurs, too.

In 2009, the top 400 taxpayers paid almost as much in federal income taxes as the entire bottom 50 percent combined!

I am looking forward to watching him squirm at the back-lash from businesses who heard him say these things.

He will twist and he will spin.

Before it is over, he will seem like a political pretzel.

But the truth is, in this speech, President BO removed any remaining doubt about his basic political and philosophical mind set.

He is a dyed-in-the-wool, unadulterated proponent of  "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

His true colors are showing in all of their self-agrandised glory.

TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT APPROACHES

I didn't write it and its longish...but worth the read, even if you were educated in government schools.

Why aren't the Democrats trying to raise everybody up?

You notice they try to get to their precious utopian equality by chopping everybody down? They want everybody lowered to some mythical economic level where everybody is mythically, magically supposedly equal. There's a story at NewsBusters. Sigourney Weaver, who's obviously brainless, gave an interview to David Gregory, and she's just mouthing a bunch of crap that she's probably heard her whole life. (paraphrased) "Oh, yeah, everybody knows the Democrats are the party that want to help people. And the Republicans, all they want to do is help business."

If it weren't for Wall Street and big business, Barack Obama would not be president of the United States! If anybody had big business in his back pocket, in his front pocket, and who knows whatever other pocket, it was Barack Obama! But here we come with these stereotypes and here's poor old Sigourney Weaver. She doesn't know any better. "Yeah, Republicans are for big business." The fact of the matter is, you pick any conservative, anywhere, and you talk to 'em about people.

And you know what you're gonna hear?

You're gonna hear a desire that everybody elevate, that everybody get better. You're gonna hear conservatives talk about ways that everybody's lifestyle can expand and everybody's quality of life can improve. You're gonna hear optimism. You're gonna hear hopefulness. You're gonna hear policies and strategies to make that happen. Any conservative, any genuine conservative you talk to is going to look at somebody and look at their potential and want to see potential -- growth potential.

It is Democrats, it's the left who have contempt for people, who have no faith in people. It's the Democrat Party who doesn't think people have the ability to succeed on their own, Ms. Weaver! But she's not alone.

These people are just ignorant. They've been raised to believe this stuff just like Obama has. They buy into all these stereotypes. They're brain-dead. They're not even thinking. They're just regurgitating. But the facts on the ground are just the exact opposite.

It's the Democrat Party that keeps people down.

It's the Democrat Party that breaks up their families.

It's the Democrat Party that has no faith in people to get by on their own.

It's the Democrat Party, the American left, that writes policy -- and program after program -- designed on the assumption that people are incapable and incompetent. That's the basis for liberal policy! Not freedom. Not equality. Liberalism and the Democrat Party are oriented around the fact that people cannot succeed on their own and will not succeed on their own. Conservatism, on the other hand, is oriented around the belief that everybody can be great.

And the more people trying it, the better off everybody is.

Conservatives believe that with the right circumstances and the right education -- the right inspiration, the proper level of inspiration -- that everybody can be better than they think they can be; that everybody has more in them than they know. Every conservative I know believes this, and that's one of the reasons why we are so frustrated. We have to sit here and listen to pap about how we want people to be on welfare? How we want people to be barely eking out lives on food stamps or what have you? How we want people to be walked all over?

That's a crock!

We want just the exact opposite.

The Democrat Party is ensuring that the lower classes stay there. It's the Democrat Party that looks at "average people" and sees them as average -- after they see whether they're black, gay, Hispanic, male, female, or what have you. It takes about five examinations of a human being before the Democrat sees a human being, before he sees any humanity. They see groups prior to that! They see victims. "Everybody knows the Democrat Party is a party of the people and the Republican Party is the party of big business."

Well, no.

The Democrat Party is a party that grows as people suffer.

The Democrat Party is a party that expands its power as more and more people have their lives ruined in the sense that they cannot provide for themselves. The Democrat Party does everything it can to create victims! And when it runs out of victims, when too many people in this country finally find their way out of dependence, what do the Democrats do? They try to find the next group of people to become their permanent underclass!

That happens to be the illegal immigrants right now.

That's who the Democrats want to be their permanent underclass, because a lot of Democrats in the permanent underclass don't want to stay there.

They want to improve their lives!

They want raises.

They want better jobs.

They have to listen to a president run around and talk about how it's not possible because all that's been stolen from them and his job is to take whatever he can from all these thieves and redistribute it and give it back to 'em. So they're sitting around essentially with their hand out, hoping and praying that Master Obama will find a way to put some pittance in their hand to get even with all the stuff that was stolen from them their whole life. Other people are not waiting around for that. They're simply using their ambition, their desire, their intelligence, and their freedom to improve their quality of life. And those people become the targets of the Democrat Party and the Obama administration.

You succeed; you're a target. You achieve; you need to be punished. You succeed, you achieve, you then are said to be essentially a thief. You didn't do it on your own. Nameless, faceless, hardworking people.

They're the ones that made it possible for you, and you couldn't pay 'em, and you couldn't thank 'em. You just stepped on 'em on your way up. So here's Obama to make all that good now, make it all even. And somehow taking money away from the people who invest it and put it at risk and put it at play to grow a business will lead to new jobs, somehow those people are the problem, and those people, we're gonna take their money away so there is less activity, less job creation, less business expansion, and less risk.

How can there be improved or increased risk when Obama's taking money out of people's pockets who would otherwise spend it that way? This is hideous what's happening here. And it's frustrating to have to sit there and explain this to people, after 230 years. But, the education system in this country has been so perverted and corrupted that every day they turn out brand-new brainwashed little angry victims who think, if not for the guy that owns the dry cleaner down the corner, I'd be something. The guy that owns the dry cleaner, he owes me. I built the sidewalk in front of his dry cleaner shop. He wouldn't have that if I hadn't built that sidewalk. Then you say, "Well, yeah, when were you out there building it?"

"Well, I paid for it."

"You did? Really?" Well, who is it paying the lion's share of taxes in this country today? The top 1% are paying 70% of all taxes. Where is it that these nameless, faceless people are paying all this to make it possible for the rich to succeed. I've never understood the math. The rich got rich by stealing from the poor?

It doesn't add up to me. I've never understood the math on that. But, if you're sitting out there and you think your life is worthless and has no meaning, somebody comes along and says you coulda been something if not for the guy that owns the dry cleaner store. Okay, that's good for me. I'll latch onto that. Yeah, I coulda been something if it weren't for that guy. I coulda been something if it weren't for the guy that owns the car dealership out there. I coulda been somebody. I coulda been a contender. But the car dealership guy, he has what was mine, or he has what should have been mine. And how do I know? 'Cause Obama's telling me every day.

This guy cannot possibly like or respect this country. He cannot have any respect or admiration at all for the way this country was founded; the way it grew; the way it's exceptional; the way it became a world superpower because he's trying to dismantle it brick by brick, doorjamb by doorjamb. If the American dream is a giant mansion, Obama's going at it door by door and ripping it apart. And there are too many doors being torn apart in this mansion for this to be accidental or circumstantial or coincidental. And it's been going on for too long now, three-and-a-half years, for it to be just somebody who doesn't get it and who's wrong.

No other way to put this now. He was indoctrinated as a child. His father was a communist. He was raised by a communist. His mother was a leftist. He was sent to prep in Ivy League schools where his contempt for the country was reinforced by the professorate, the faculty lounge. Moves to Chicago. Oh, yeah, that's a great environment to grow up in. Home of the radical left movement, hooks up with Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezko. He's out there claiming that Romney's a felon, when Romney doesn't even know any, and half of Obama's inner circle are felons.

THE IMPERIAL PRESIDENT

Obama administration guts work requirements for Clinton-era welfare reform
posted at 11:21 am on July 13, 2012 by Rob Bluey

The landmark welfare reform law President Bill Clinton signed in 1996 helped move nearly 3 million families off the government dole — the result of federal work requirements that promoted greater self-reliance.

The Obama administration gutted those federal work rules, ignoring the will of Congress by issuing a policy directive that allows the Department of Health and Human Services to waive the work requirements for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. “The result is the end of welfare reform,” wrote Robert Rector and Kiki Bradley of The Heritage Foundation.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), author of welfare reform legislation, said in response to the news:

President Obama just tore up a basic foundation of the welfare contract. In exchange for taxpayer-funded TANF payments, the law calls on able-bodied adults to work, look for work, take classes, or undergo drug and alcohol counseling. It’s the tough love that gives people motivation to help themselves.

The administration’s decision follows other recent executive actions on immigration, marriage, religion, education and energy policies. In each case, President Obama has put his own “imperial presidency” ahead of Congress and federal law.

The latest maneuver is particularly alarming given the rising number of Americans who rely on the government for aid. Obama has dramatically increased welfare spending. TANF, the program in question, is just one of more than 70 welfare programs operated by the government at a cost of nearly $1 trillion per year.

Jordan, who leads the conservative Republican Study Committee, last year spearheaded a plan to reform welfare. The Welfare Reform Act of 2011 would require recipients of food stamps to work or prepare for a job, disclose the costs of total federal, state, and local welfare spending, and return welfare spending to its 2007 level once unemployment hits 6.5 percent.

The administration’s action goes in the opposite direction, Jordan warned: “By waiving the law’s requirements, President Obama will make it harder for Americans to escape poverty. He is hurting the very people he claims to help.”

A SPECIAL SUNDAY RESPITE-Dan and Leilani Clark

This Sunday Respite needs a little explanation.

The guitar player is my friend, the late Dan Clark.

Dan was the bass player in my Youth Choir in Miami. He had no thumb on his left hand, was a bit askew bodily and one might have been tempted to call him handicapped.

But Dan knew nothing of handicaps, and was professionally proficient on bass, keyboard, piano, organ and guitar.

He and I used to fish the Biscayne Canal in Miami. We also spent time fishing in the Everglades and loved to tease alligators with our lures.

As the gators stacked themselves up on little islands vying for sun space, they would compete to get to the lures we tossed in the water near them, thinking they were food. The winner would immediately grab a lure and begin a death roll.

Eventually he would figure out that the lure was not food and would release it...most of the time. We lost more than a few.

We also fished a land-locked lake in the Thousand Islands in South Florida and regularly caught one or the others of the three tarpon that were trapped in the lake.

Dan died several years ago in a boating accident.

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this video on YouTube.

God really blessed me with his friendship.

His daughter was about 14 when this video was made...in 1993, I think.

HE FOLLOWS THE CONSTITUTION? IN YOUR DREAMS!

President BO (the child president)'s interview on Public Radio station WBEZ-FM in 2001:

"If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights movement and its litigation strategy in the court. I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. I would now be able to sit at the lunch counter and order as long as I could pay for it I’d be o.k. But, the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society.

To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that."

Following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the Interior Department issued a blanket six-month moratorium on new oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. A federal judge struck down that moratorium as arbitrary and capricious. The judge was so shocked by the administration’s conduct that he found the government in civil contempt of court.

The Obama administration bullied Chrysler’s secured creditors — who were entitled to “absolute priority” — into accepting 30 cents on the dollar. This is government-directed industrial policy to help political insiders — discourages investors and generally undermines confidence in American rule of law.

Then there's this in ObamaCare: The Independent Payment Advisory Board (a.k.a. “The Death Panel”); Medicaid coercion; The Individual Mandate and Health care waivers.

2011

The FDA issued regulations requiring cigarette manufacturers to display graphic warnings on all packs of cigarettes that must cover at least 50% of the packaging and graphically portray tobacco-related illnesses. These warnings violate the First Amendment because the government is compelling the cigarette manufacturers to discourage their customers from buying their lawful products. Last month, a federal judge blocked the new regulation, which was due to go into effect in January, but the administration is appealing.

2012

The Treasury Department now has broad and essentially unchecked power to seize banks and other financial entities that it determines are unsound but “too big to fail.” The new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Financial Stability Oversight Council, meanwhile, craft, execute and interpret their own law.

In April of this year, President BO (the child president) released a draft executive order that would require businesses with federal contracts to disclose independent expenditures on federal elections (political speech independent of candidates and parties). This order is intended to undermine the Supreme Court’s Citizen United decision by discouraging federal contractors and their executives from engaging in political speech.
Earlier this year, the IRS tried to muzzle political speech by asserting that donations to certain nonprofit advocacy groups (so-called 501(c)(4) organizations) would be subject to the gift tax. It was trying to chill the political speech of those opposed to President BO (the child president)’s policies, in violation of the First Amendment.

Feb. 21, 2012:

President BO (the child president) said The U.S. Constitution is out-of-date, so he is ripping it up and writing a new one.

President BO (the child president) told reporters that the U.S. Constitution has become a hindrance to progress in America. “The document is so out-dated, that it is now becoming a hindrance to governing the country.”

Obama said that he has signed an Executive Order voiding the U.S. Constitution. “We need to move forward. We need change.”

Obama said he has already drafted a new constitution and that Americans “will love what I came up with.” Insiders say that Obama is keeping a lot of old elements from the original constitution “he’s just making it better, bringing it into the 21st century,”

OK. That last one is questionable, but you get the drift.

President BO (the child president) does not care about, does not follow, does not preserve, does not protect and does not defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

WELL I SWEAR!

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

That is what every president since George Washington has recited when assuming the presidency.

Some have added the words, "So help me, God," but not all.

With or without those closing words, an oath is an oath.

If an oath is not an oath, then there is no point in oathing.

An oath is a promise to do, say or be something.

The president promises to execute his office faithfully (Get it? He is the head of the executive branch of government, so he executes the office).

He also promises to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Some presidents violated their office by failing to faithfully execute the office of the presidency.

Others have violated their office by failing to preserve (to maintain something in its original or existing state; to keep - to maintain - to conserve - to protect - to save - to retain) the Constitution.

There have been some who violated their office by failing to protect (to keep safe from harm; to aim to preserve) the Constitution.

Still other presidents have failed to defend (to resist an attack; to protect from harm or danger; to speak or write in favor of; to attempt to justify) the Constitution.

President BO (the child president) has violated all four aspects of his oath of office.

He has failed to execute his office faithfully. He has redefined his powers, redefined his rights and redefined his commission.

President BO (the child president) has failed to preserve the Constitution. He has circumvented it, he has demeaned it and he has ignored it. He even wrote that it is flawed because it says what government cannot do and does not say what government CAN do (which, of course, is exactly what the framers intended).

Furthermore, he has failed to protect the Constitution. He has allowed it to be prostituted, he has allowed it to be attacked and he has allowed it to be violated with impunity.

Finally, he has failed to defend the Constitution. He has spoken against it, he has allowed his staff and cabinet to speak against it and he has allowed it to be changed ex-populus (without the vote of the people through the amendment process).

Whatever his roots, whatever his heritage, whoever his life-long associated, whatever his ideology, President BO (the child president) has failed to fulfill his oath of office.

And that makes him unworthy of being re-elected.

If he cannot be trusted to keep his promises about his office (never minding his campaign rhetoric), what CAN he be trusted to do?

FOUND AT HOT AIR

July 4, 2012 by J.E. Dyer

If you have decided to go along with Chief Justice Roberts and agree that Obamacare is a tax, now is the time to contemplate the many things this reading will allow Congress to require you to do.

The list is literally endless, because of the endless number of things ideologues can come up with. But these are some of the top tunes.

1. Congress can force you to buy an electric car.

2. Congress can force you to buy solar panels.

3. Congress can force you to buy and install a remote-control thermostat for your home.

4. Congress can force you to buy internet service.

5. Congress can force you to buy particular kinds of food.

6. Congress can force you to buy contraceptives for yourself.

7. Congress can force you to buy biofuels, even if you don’t have any use for them.

8. Congress can force you to donate to political causes and “charities.”

9. Congress can force you to pay union dues.

10. Congress can force you to buy the New York Times.

11. Congress can force you to buy “green travel” packages.

12. Congress can force you to buy a 3-bedroom, 2-bath townhome with a 1-car parking spot for your electric car.

13. Congress can force you to pay for soccer, gymnastics, and ballet lessons for your children.

14. Congress can force you to pay for a gym membership.

15. Congress can force you to rent a 2-bedroom apartment with no parking space.

16. Congress can force you to borrow money.

17. Congress can force you to pay for a state-college education for your children, regardless of where or whether they actually attend college.

17. Congress can force you to buy a goat.

19. Congress can force you to hire people.

20. Congress can force you to buy mass transit passes, whether you use mass transit or not.

The list could go on and on. After all, if fining people for not buying health insurance is the same thing as a “tax,” then fining them for not spending on other things is also a tax.

We rarely make important distinctions in our politics anymore, and that is a great menace to our idea of liberty and limited government. We must not let our concept of the purpose and character of a tax be corrupted, precisely because taxing us is a power accorded Congress in the Constitution. The definition of “tax” is, in fact, the most important limit on what Congress can do with its power to tax. In the wake of the Obamacare ruling, defining “tax” is defending our liberty – or, from the opposite perspective, attacking it.

This is not a minor point. Definitions are central to the idea of constitutionalism. We have let government dig into our pockets in so many different ways that many Americans have lost sight of the importance of definitions, but it is fatal to our liberty if we accept that any old way the government might make us spend money is a “tax.” It’s not. Taxes produce revenue for the government as their primary purpose and first-order effect.

I recommend reading Federalist 30-36 to discern the prevailing view of taxes at the time of our founding, as a revenue-production measure for the expenses of government. Count the number of times you see the word “revenue.” In Federalist 30, Alexander Hamilton makes an illuminating distinction between having power over the people’s lives and having the power to tax:

In the Ottoman or Turkish empire, the sovereign, though in other respects absolute master of the lives and fortunes of his subjects, has no right to impose a new tax. The consequence is that he permits the bashaws or governors of provinces to pillage the people without mercy; and, in turn, squeezes out of them the sums of which he stands in need, to satisfy his own exigencies and those of the state. In America, from a like cause, the government of the Union has gradually dwindled into a state of decay, approaching nearly to annihilation. Who can doubt, that the happiness of the people in both countries would be promoted by competent authorities in the proper hands, to provide the revenues which the necessities of the public might require?

Read the whole paper; it is clear that Hamilton viewed federal taxation as a revenue-raising measure, and not as a means of exercising mastery over the people’s lives and fortunes (e.g., regulating, penalizing, or social- or environmental-engineering the people). If we have come to see federal taxation in the latter light, it is not because such a purpose can be read into the Constitution or the Framers’ intent. We have a choice to accept the statist-interventionist mentality on taxes, or not. The most important thing we can do today is affirm limits on Congress’s power to tax, by requiring narrow definitions.

I am encouraged that the Romney campaign has declined to agree that Obamacare is a tax. People need to read the Constitution. Whatever we accept as a “tax,” Congress has the power to make us pay. The Obamacare purchase mandate is not a tax, and neither is the fine for not buying health insurance. If we agree that they are taxes, the constitutional republic is lost.

WHY BE SO OBNOXIOUSLY INDEPENDENT?

His name was George. He was the third King of England named George, thus he was known as King George III (King George the Third).

A group of his subjects had left England to start a new life for themselves in the land discovered by the Italian/Spanish sailor, Christopher Columbus.

King George III was determined not to lose his subjects and thus lower the revenues to the kingdom.

So he placed a heavy burden of taxes on those subjects and exercised inordinate control over them, backed by the presence of his military forces.

The people in that "new" land wanted to have more say in their way of life and considered it wrong that King George III would keep such tight reign on them, given the distance between them and the "motherland."

He referred to them as "The Colonies," a name which they soon adopted for themselves with great honor and gusto.

The colonists felt that King George III had repeatedly interfered with their rights. In doing so, had unfairly ruled over the American colonies.

The King had not allowed the colonists to enact laws that they felt would help them the most.

Every time the colonists felt they were being treated unfairly, they wrote the King. He answered by treating them even more unfairly.

The colonists felt that A ruler who abuses his power should not be able to rule over them. They wrote: "A prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”

After trying many times to reason with King George III, to no avail, and having sent emissaries to him repeatedly only to have them return with no advance to their cause, they decided it was time to break ties with Great Britain, politically.

They declared their independence with a document that stated their reasons for wishing to be independent and that enumerated the violations of their rights he had committed upon them.

Those grievances were listed in the document as follows:

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Most people know the opening lines of the Declaration of Independence, but few know the list of grievances the colonists sent to King George III.

Making adjustments for time that has passed, it is amazing to see how many of those grievances exist today and are placed upon us by our own government.

The reason it has become thus is that governments tend toward power and control, citizens toward complacency and laziness.

Abraham Lincoln prayed that a "...government of the people, by the people and for the people should never perish from this land."

Sadly, we are on a steady march to becoming a people of the government, by the government and for the government.

There are a great many among us, called "liberals," who like it that way and want to keep it that way.

What are we, then, to do?

The framers said this:

“...whenever any form of government becomes destructive [in protecting rights and responding to the people], it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute a new government…”

Those were their words, not mine.

Is it still true today?

PRESIDENT BO (the child president) THE "HONEST" POLITICIAN

From my comments on my previous post:

Joe - "He has lied about himself, his past, his heritage, his career, his friends, his origins, his intentions and everything else he has ever said."

Not a single word of what you said is true.

Be specific.

What did he lie about?

Let me count some of the ways:

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Guantanamo will be closed by no later than one year from now.

True or false?

Is it closed or not?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Tell the lobbyists in Washington that their day of setting the agenda are over. They have not funded my campaign. They will not work in my White House.

True or false?

Does he have more lobyists in Washington today, or fewer? Are there more or fewer lobyists and former lobyists in his administration? Did he, or did he not appoint 17 be lobbyists to high positions in his administration in the first 14 days?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I think we can get a lot of work done fast. When I met with the governors, all of them have projects that are shovel ready.

True or false?

Are there any more "shovel ready" jobs than there were when he took office?

What did he mean when he said, "Shovel ready was not as shovel ready as we expected."?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: So, let me be absolutely clear. If you are a family making less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes go up.

Well now we know that ObamaTax, which was first a tax, then a penalty and now (according to SCOTUS) a tax again, will be the largest tax increase in the history of the United States.

A biography written about him called him a Kenyan and the First Lady called Kenya his home country, yet he says he was born in Hawaii and never refuted the Kenyan assertion.

(If you wrote MY biography and said I was born in Lexington, I would correct you quickly. And I would NOT show you a photo-shopped birth certificate to "prove" it. I don't have to. I have the original, which says I was born in Miami, Florida.)

He has called Jeremiah Wright his pastor and mentor of 20 years and then denied that he had ever heard his anti-American, black liberationist preaching.

He started his campaign in Bill Ayers' house and then said he and Bill were "...not that close."

He denied being a socialist and then behaved like one.

He said Solyndra would be a "good investment," and then said nothing about its investment value when it colapsed in bankruptcy.

He said we would see bill on C-Span before they were signed into law, but after three and one-half years in the presidency, no bill has ever been pre-viewable on C-Span.

He said if people liked their doctor they could keep him (or her), but the bill itself contradicts that.

He called the ObamaCare bill (Now the ObamaTax bill) a health care bill, but failed to mention the dozen or so parts of it that are unrelated to health cars, such as what happens when you sell your house.

He expressed "utmost confidence in Eric Holder," who has now been held in contempt of Congress for refusing to submit documents relative to "Fast and Furious."

In his 2012 State of the Union Address, President Obama said that American oil production is the highest that it’s been in eight years.

True or false? Did or did not oil Production on Federal Lands Dropped 275,000 Barrels a Day in 2011?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I’ve done more for Israel’s security than any President ever.

Oh? Has he or has he not aided Islamic Extremists' take-over of Egypt? Have weapons from the USA, or have weapons from the USA not poured into Gaza?

President BO (the child president) said that the GOP was responsible for "his" jobs bill not passing.

Did he, or did he not have enough Democrat votes to pass the bill?

Do you remember President BO (the child president) saying, "I cannot guarantee that those checks (Social Security checks, that is) go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it?"

(Putting aside the "truth" that he has nothing to do with guaranteeing when checks go out), did the checks go out or not?  Have they EVER not gone out? Would it not be illegal for them NOT to go out?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: The fence between US and Mexico is “Practically Complete”

True or false?

The Department of Homeland Security says its aaround 5% complete. Who's lying and who's telling the truth?

PRESIDENT OBAMA (referencing the national debt): These are obligations that the United States has taken on in the past. Congress has run up the credit card, and we now have an obligation to pay our bills.

Cheese! My fingers are getting tired!

Now tell me again how honest this president is.

ObamaCare IS NOW ObamaTAX!

President BO (the child president) used the example of people being required to buy insurance for their cars to illustrate why ObamaTax is appropriate for our government to impose on its citizens.

Not so fast, PBO(tcp)!

I get to choose whether or not I buy a car.

If I choose to buy one, then I am required to purchase insurance, either liability or liability and comprehensive…my choice.

If I choose NOT to buy one, I don’t have to buy liability OR comprehensive.

Income tax was tied to the fact that I chose to work and generate income – not on my existence itself. Property tax is a corollary to my decision to buy real estate. The gasoline tax is a corollary to my free decision to drive a car, and a car that runs on gasoline.

The proper analogy would be to force me to purchase liability and comprehensive automobile insurance whether or not I choose to buy a car.

That’s what ObamaTax has done, with the help of the Supreme Court and its Chief “Justice,” John Roberts.

In other words, according to the Supreme Court of the United States of America, you can now be taxed just for existing!

Of course President BO (the child president) spent a lot of time proving to us that the result of ObamaTax was not a tax at all, but a penalty for not buying into it.

The SCOTUS shot that theory down.

But wait!

Democrats don’t care what the SCOTUS says, now they’re insisting it is not a tax, no matter what the Men (and Women) in Black have to say.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

The end result, though, is the same. You will have to pay the government for no other reason than that you inhabit the US of A.

Failure to do so will incur the ire of the IRS.

Did I miss something? Isn’t the IRS in charge of taxes (not to be confused with Texas, which they would also like to be in charge of)?

For the last 50 years, the insurance industry has existed in more-or-less its present form. Before that it was virtually non-existent.

Suddenly, health insurance has become a right imposed (instead of being acknowledged, like the rest of our rights).

The idea that some are promulgating that we “now have Obama where we want him,” and can thus engineer his overthrow, having caught him in a lie, is laughable.

Since when has catching President BO (the child president) in a lie ever made any difference?

He has lied about himself, his past, his heritage, his career, his friends, his origins, his intentions and everything else he has ever said. And you liberals have fallen for it.

As the old adage goes: “Watch his lips. If they move, he is lying.”

Tax or penalty, ObamaTax is going to cost over $5 billion and will remove about $5 billion from Medicare. That’s $10 billion…somewhat more than I make in a year.

Mark my words, it will also reduce our medical force, reduce our level of care, actually decrease the number of people cared for, increase the cost of health care to individuals, run up the budget deficit, drag the economy further down and, worst of all, inspire all kinds of new taxes on us for things we have chosen not to buy.

Why a citizen would fall for such tripe is beyond me. It must be a testament to the level of rational though to which we have fallen…make that crashed.

We will rue the day ObamaTax was enacted.

Ten years from now, come back and tell me I was wrong.

You won’t be able to.

A Surgeon Cuts to the Heart of the ObamaCare Nightmare

By Stella Paul

The day the Supreme Court ruled in favor of ObamaCare, a friend called me. He's an extremely dedicated, much-loved surgeon, and he was frustrated and livid in equal measure.

"I've actually had a lot of experience working in all different types of environments," he began. "I've worked in a government-run socialized medical care system, and I saw the waste and inefficiency.

"The longer people worked in that system, the less work they wanted to do, because the more you wanted to do, the more they dumped on you. So after a while you stop doing it, because they're not paying you to do more. Why should you do a difficult case, a difficult surgery that will take you hours and hours to do?

"You might start out wanting to do it, but after a while, you just run out of energy, because there's no incentive. You'd have to be a superhuman being to continue to work in that system and not be worn down by it.

"Because nobody wanted to work, it would take an hour to turn over the surgical room. In my private practice now, it takes ten minutes.

"And I saw tremendous waste: closets of stuff that never got used. Nobody cared.
Read more:

"Capitalism has completely transformed my sub-specialty. When I was in training, a common procedure that I do now took 40 minutes, and people needed a month of recovery. Now it takes 10 minutes, and people can go back to work almost immediately.

"And all these improvements were driven by the financial incentive. Capitalism has had a tremendously positive effect on patient care and outcome in my specialty.

"But when I go to meetings now, I see that there's very little innovation going on. Everything's being impacted by ObamaCare, which, among other things, raises taxes on medical devices.

"You know, doctors are people, and we're being hammered on all sides here. It's the paperwork; it's insurance; it's insurance; it's transitioning to electronic medical records, so the government can get their mitts into your practice. It's lawsuits; it's rising overhead and decreasing compensation; it's stress upon stress upon stress.

"And a lot of doctors are going to say, 'Forget it. I don't want to do this anymore.' Guys that are 5 or 10 years older than me are just going to give up and walk away.

"Why should I be a slave to the government? You know, it used to be that doctors would do charity work at a charity hospital. Nobody wants to do it anymore, because we're too overwhelmed.

"I work 60 to 70 hours a week, so how am I supposed to fight back against this? Most doctors don't have the time to lobby their congressman or go to Washington. If you're a doctor in the trenches, you've got a stressful job; you've got a family. You're seeing the same number of patients and making half the income you used to make. People are litigious these days, so you've got to worry about lawsuits. When are you going to find time to lobby a politician?

"And the American Medical Association threw us all under the bus, even though only 18% of doctors belong to it. These people are ivory-tower academics, and they're liberals. Most of them are in academic medicine; they get a salary with some sort of incentive bonus. They show up to work and go home. They're not in the trenches like me, figuring out how to compete with other doctors and pay for malpractice insurance and how to hire four people I need to implement the electronic medical records and two people I need to deal with insurance.

"And as a doctor, I get it handed to me both ways. My taxes are raised, and my fees are lowered.

"You know, young people today who go to medical school -- I don't know what to tell them. You couldn't pay me to go to medical school today. Some doctors are going to graduate with $500,000 in debt, and how are they going to make a living?

"You're 32 or 33 years old by the time you finish your training; you're married with little kids. You've been an apprentice for 16 years, and now you're faced with socialized medicine. That's the reality on the ground. How are you supposed to manage that?

"Fortunately, I still love what I do. But I don't know what's going to happen. I think we'll wind up with a two-tiered medical system: a private one for the rich who pay cash and a mediocre one for everyone else.

"When my dad was 91, he had a heart attack and ended up with a stent. He had two more good years after that before he died. After ObamaCare, some government employee is going to decide that he is too old for this and not 'approve' for him to have that procedure.

"It's just a feeling of helplessness. The only organizations that are fighting for doctors are the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and Docs4 Patient Care."

After he hung up, I went to the website of Docs4 Patient Care and found this statement from its president, Dr. Hal Scherz:

The Supreme Court disappointed the majority of Americans who have voiced their opposition to Obamacare, by upholding significant portions of this truly abysmal law. Their decision has left Americans now wondering what it is that the Federal Government can't compel them to do. This is perhaps the worst decision in the history of the Supreme Court and emphasizes the importance of making the correct decision for chief executive, who controls who sits on this bench.

If you want to cure the sickness that's killing America, you'll find a powerful remedy in the voting booth in November.
